Rincon was recommended by a coworker who recently had her boyfriends birthday dinner here. We Visited this fine establishment with a large group of friends also to celebrate a birthday dinner. Let me begin by saying despite the small interior they were able to set the chairs in a way that everyone fit and was very comfortable. The staff was extremely accommodating and was very knowledgable about the menu. Everyone we met was friendly and the environment was quaint and tranquil the lighting set perfectly for what you would want for an evening outing with friends. Now for the food. There are a wide variety of different tapas and also platters consistent of meats and cheeses or cheeses and fruits. We tried them all and they were all delicious. I personally ordered a meal, the "Pollo a la manchego". This chicken was delicious. It was well spiced and came with a sauce that was a perfect combination of sweet and salty but not spicy. The waiter took our drink orders at the beginning and made sure that the bottles of wine kept coming. At the end they brought a slice of cake with a candle for the birthday boy and made us all feel welcome. The only down side to the experience would be that the food took longer than anticipated to come to the table but we filled the time with wine and tapas. This place is the definition of hidden gem. This spot is a little hole in the wall- small restaurant but has great Spanish vibe. My husband and I have been looking for a Spanish-style tapas place that did the description justice and we finally found it! I do have to mention that this place is very European in the sense that the food is not fast. They specify it in the menu that some dishes can take about 60 minutes cook time due to it being made from scratch. We recently had a tapas night at Rincon Escondido and they brought each of our tapas out at a time, so if you're planning on a "quick dinner" this is not the place for you, but if you want to enjoy your evening with some great food and sangria, this place is great! read more

This tiny place has been open for over a year, and I'm glad to see it finally getting some business! The food is almost always good, and I've always enjoyed great service. Get the bombas de queso. Fried balls of goat cheese with orange blossom honey. Yum! Super crispy, thin outside layer with soft, creamy goat cheese inside. So good! The skirt steak with sauteed veggies is also tasty. I didn't enjoy the white asparagus, but the waiter also didn't charge me for it since I didn't like it at all. Great customer service there. We also had a meat & cheese platter that was pretty good. The place is tiny, but the customer service & good food make up for having to sit 6 inches from the people at the next table. They have great lunch specials, too. And one major thing for me - they work around food allergies. Always very accommodating about that. Oh & the bread is amazing. And I love that they sell all kinds of neat imported products, like the hibiscus flowers in syrup that they put on the meat & cheese platter. :) All around a good experience. A friend recommended this (literally) hole in the wall, and he was right. It's a little tough to find (park on the side street), and very small. I'd go with a small group of people, and it would be perfect for a out-of-the-way dinner for 2. However, the food is excellent and it had a great vibe, cozy both inside and on the small patio. The servers were friendly and and prices were totally reasonable (both surprising for Miami). Service was not fast, but then again, it's a small place with just a few staff, and part of the enjoyment of tapas is taking it slowly. We did not experience any of the problems that the negative reviewers had, but if you want a really fast meal, you may want to skip it if it is crowded. But if you have a some time (especially during the week), it's a must. I will be back. read more

At the risk of this place becoming too popular, I want to give a nod to Rincon Escondido as one of the most authentic and cozy Spanish restaurants in town. Ambience: welcome to grandma's house in Galicia. The spot doesn't look like much from the outside but the quaint, well decorated inside will make you feel like you are eating in your own home. There are only about 30 seats so if crowded, it might feel too crammed but I haven't experienced that in my 1/2 dozen visits. The outdoors has potential with a TV but it is right on Biscayne so you have to contend with the traffic. Food: excellent, authentic tasting tapas. There are lots of the staples like tortilla, chorizo, gambas al ajillo and pulpo all done to perfection. The Bombas de Queso are fantastic with a hint of orange that really makes these pop. There are several interesting looking entrees including a few pasta dishes but we always fill up on tapas so not sure how they are but I look forward to trying sometime soon. My wife is vegetarian and finds plenty of options. Service: friendly, personable staff. The owner waits tables on most nights and enjoys speaking with the guests. The service can be a little slow (authentic European!) so if you are feeling rushed, this might be less ideal Price: this place is a steal. For about $35 a person, you can have a feast and enjoy lots of sangria no problem. Excellent value food and service for the price. read more

Seriously, just go there! Simply one of the best places I have eaten, and I eat out everyday! The food was just superb and everything else was perfect. The place is tiny but very cozy and it has the potential to become very known. I would hate to have to wait for a table but people really need to try this amazing food. The montadito de morcilla, tortilla con chorizo, gambas al ajillo, and even the ham croquetas where sublime even though I don't even like croquetas and oh yeah I don't even like morcilla but the one there has become the reason to visit this restaurant at least once a week! read more

Came here for the first time thanks to my aunt who recommended this lil hidden gem. Literally had the most delicious paella de mariscos I've ever had! It takes about an hour to make (meanwhile you can enjoy some beers & sangria) so worth the wait! Everything's fresh & made with lots of love, so take that into consideration. Nothing like fresh tasting food with a great glass of sangria. Service was also nothing short of fantastic. Definitely a local spot, but as tourists loved the vibe. I was visiting the area for work and we used yelp to find a lunch spot. We completely lucked out. There's a small 20 car parking lot behind this strip shop that's free for its customers. The food was phenomenal. My favorite two dishes were the honey goat cheese balls and the Octopus tapas. I can't remember which one of the Octopus choices we ordered, but the display and taste was incredible. We also had the meat and cheese plate which was a nice starter. We had a few other plates and they were equally delicious. I hope to go back again for dinner so I can try the house Sangria. First off let me just say that my dinner yesterday could not have been more perfect. The special occasion was my family celebrating Mother's Day one day earlier to avoid the crowds and long waits at our typical restaurant options. Naturally, since it was a Saturday and we weren't the only ones with that bright idea, most restaurants weren't accepting reservations or walks in with such short notice. This is when I whipped out my phone and did a quick yelp search for Spanish food because hey, what my mami wants my mami gets, so there pops up Rincon Escondido Tapas. I've easily driven by this place hundreds of times and did not know it existed. I read the stellar reviews and it was a no brainer so I went ahead and called in hopes that we'd be able to secure a table. A very nice gentlemen (who we later realized is the owner) answered the phone and accepted our reservations so I was relieved that I could treat my mom with the cuisine she wanted. Most of my family members arrived to the restaurant before me but I knew I was in for a treat when my brother sent me a text telling me to hurry up because the appetizers were good along with a picture of a tabla mixta! Once I arrived the sangria was flowing (mami was getting loose) and all I knew was I wanted in on the drinks! Let me tell you, this is hands down one of the best red sangrias I've had. Not too sweet, not too strong tasting but do not be fooled because it IS strong. That sangria had me feeling all types of good especially after a long day at a car dealership. We preordered the seafood paella before we arrived considering the time it takes for it to be made (which is about an hour and is specified on the menu that can be found on their website) so we knew we had to order some more appetizers before to keep us going. I ordered another tabla mixta, croquetas de jamon, bombas de queso and huevos rotos. The tabla mixta came out and it was good. Then came the bombas de queso and they were BOMB! Absolutely delicious! We then received the croquetas and I was in jamon heaven! My brother's main dish came out at the same time as the apps (he ordered steak) and it smelled so good that, bless his heart, he gave me the first bite. It was cooked well and the seasoning was on point. Then came out the paella. Although it didn't look like it was enough to feed a group of four, as soon as we scooped a few spoonfuls onto our plates we realized that it was more than enough. The paella was amazing, with just the right amount of seafood to rice ratio. Every bite was delicious and was enjoyed by everyone at the table. We ended the night with a flan and crema catalana (along with a few more pitches of red sangria) and it was perfection. So it's clear from the paragraphs before that the food is great. Now what made the night one of a kind? The customer service! Damian, the owner, is such a gem. From the moment you sit in his restaurant (which is very intimate and small) you truly feel like you're at home. We were lucky that it was empty for the most part so we really felt like we were in someone's dining room in their home and the time that Damian spent talking to us made the experience that much better. You can tell he loves his restaurant and its patrons. Another thing I appreciated about him was that once he gave us the paella he asked me if I still wanted the huevos rotos (they hadn't made them yet). Given how much we had already devoured and having the paella ready to eat made me reconsider the other appetizer so we canceled it without issue. Other restaurants wouldn't take that into consideration and would just give you what you ordered but I appreciated that he thought about all the food we asked for and allowed us the option to cancel. As for the other details you should be aware of: - the food is made to order and is fresh so please keep that in mind when waiting for your meals, patience goes a long way - there is parking in the back of the restaurant I honestly can't wait for my next experience at Rincon Escondido! read more

This is authentic Spanish at its best. I love this little hidden gem that from the outside looks quite "iffy" but is the real deal. I have been wanting to go back with my husband because I know he would love all the authentic tapas and entrees they serve here. The paella here is perfectly prepared with Valencia rice cooked to perfection with plenty of seafood and saffron goodness. They also make a squid ink version of paella with mussels served with a side of aioli. Their atun a la sidra con patatas is a thick grilled cut of tuna steak cooked in Spanish cider served on a bed of soft onions, zucchini and peppers with a side of delicately fried potato chunks. The tapas or appetizers include crostini topped with fresh artichoke spread, manchego cheese and steak carpaccio. The Tabla de Quesos, an assortment of cheeses with toast points and fruit or the Tabla de Xarcuteria, an assortment of cured meats with toast points and olives are two other great choices. I love the intimate, European feel of this place, unpretentious. It's easy to linger, sipping sangria or red wine while savoring every delectable morsel. Highly recommend this place. read more

I pass by this place every single day while walking my dog and never got around to trying it out until about a week and a half ago. Their antique design and small, intimate space is what really draws me in. I was going to take myself on a date here until my best friend called and she ended up coming with me to try out their happy hour (1pm-4pm). First off, the service was great! Our waiter was very attentive and sweet (this is why small restaurants are amazing, it's never too packed or stressful so you end up getting more attention and better service). Between the two of us, we got the anchovies, empanadas, fried calamari, a pitcher of sangria, and small potato salad tapa that the waiter brought out to hold us over until our food was ready (because everything they make is from scratch!). Even the bread was hot, fresh, and melts in your mouth. Eat it with the anchovies you'll be in absolute heaven...not to mention that was my first time even trying anchovies. I'll definitely be making regular visits here as I'm sure just from trying those few items, everything else on the menu will be just as good or even better! read more
