Rintintin was a nice choice for my friend and I; we were looking for a low key place to catch up over brunch. It was a fabulous day out so we sat outside. All around in this neighborhood are brunch spots filled with people in line for a 2 hour wait, but Rintintin, just around the corner from the busy street, was able to sit us right away. Their food and drink did not disappoint us. I especially liked the spiked cider. MMmm. Initially, I ordered just coffee but after tasting my friend's cider, I had to get one for myself as well. It was perfect for sipping on a sunny and mildly breezy, autumn day. I had missed that feeling. It comes in a good size mug with a piece of star anise, very cozy. I'd go back to this place even just for that drink. I had the beef pita and my friend had the steak and egg. I thought the beef was a bit salty for my taste but still good with the side salad and pita. Good size meal. We both finished the meal and had a fun time. Service was great. I've passed by Rintintin when in the neighborhood but never stopped in until recently--I was walking around with a friend from out of town and we decided we needed some adult beverages and picked this spot to help us out. We were greeted when we arrived and sat at the counter as it was that time of say between the end of lunch but just before dinner. We split a sandwich that also came with the fried potatoes and it was filling for a late afternoon pre-dinner meal. Service was warm and we were checked in on many times. Since it was later on in the day, our serve (possibly the bartender) had to switch out, but poured us some wine before passing along the check. There was no rush to get us out the door before the dinner crowd came in. Would recommend Rintintin for a late lunch or dinner--will be back to try the dinner menu! read more

The staff at Rintintin was so amazing with my somewhat high maintenance birthday reservation. I emailed about a week ahead to make a reservation (if your party is more than 6 you must reserve by email and cannot reserve a table for later than 6:30) for 10. However this was fashion week and the beginning of flu season so a few folks dropped. I emailed them a few hours ahead to say it would only be 6 people. My friends, being New Yorkers, were late. The earliest arrivals showed up at 6:50, oops. All the while the staff at Rintintin was very understanding, polite, and I ordered a lovely cocktail while I waited. The bartender was great, her personally came up and gave me recommendations from the drink list. One friend didn't realize dinner was so early and straight up didn't arrive until the check came... nevertheless the Rintintin staff was fabulous and didn't make us feel bad or weird for being literally the most disorganized group ever. I don't like to be super flamboyant about my birthday but it came up in conversation with the waiter and I said I wanted it to be a normal low key dinner (in reference to the group with cake and sparklers a few tables over) and they totally followed through. At the end of the dinner they brought us tequila shots on the house which was much appreciated! Oh! And the food and drinks were good too. The clam linguine was perfect and I loved that the menu had options for everyone's dietary restrictions and budget. My Hemingway cocktail was lovely too, great spin on a classic. What I got on the plate was so raw it was still moving. And when I let the waited know about the very rare lamb chop he dismissed it saying that it was my opinion. We also ordered the lamb burger which was very dry and weird looking. My friend got the fish shawarma and it was just olive oil floating in her pita bread with pieces of soggy fish and onions. Gave 4 stars only because my burrata appetizer was overly salted, which can be open to interpretation my boyfriend thought it was perfect. If you are sensitive to salty/ sweet combination then that's not the dish for you. If you love it then it's perfect. My main dish of pan seared wild striped sea bass was a perfect light healthy option for a main. The cinnamon squash purée paired exceptionally well with the crunchy shredded snow peas. The cook of the fish was a Nice crispy skin. Which I love. Desert was a pannacotta, which was a milky sweet delight. Paired perfectly with a crisp chilled glass of orange wine. The charming candlelit interior welcomed us on a rainy New York night and the ambiance and decor of the neighborhood cafe suited the intimate mood of Three old friends in desperate need of catching up. They thoroughly enjoyed the evening with a few decent glasses of wine and very good simple food. Stopped in for a drink on a very hot day. Every cocktail I tried was perfect. I ordered the Sailors Cocktail first, then a Negroni, and concluded with an Espresso paired with a Grappa. The bartender was excellent and knew how to make a perfect drink. I've read mixed reviews about their dinner service but based on my first experience at the bar I would be more than happy to have dinner here. The atmosphere of Rintintin is very cute with green plants placed throughout and Mediterranean decor tying it all together, it's a super cute spot for a table for two. We ordered the calamari to start, Lobster Bisque soup and the Lamb Burger. Since we were starving it was good that we ordered the calamari to start because the entrees took a while to come out. My boyfriend loved the calamari and said it was very fresh. I think it was pretty standard - the fried batter didn't slip off, had a good flavor to it. The marinara sauce and pesto sauce was good was well. Lobster Bisque was a good size to be an entree and very good with large chunks of lobster in it along with a fluffy bread pastry in the middle. I very much enjoyed it. Boyfriend had the lamb burger which was huge. I took a bite of it and the meat was cooked well and savory. Overall the portions were good, food not crazy expensive, and flavors of the food was solid (not underwhelming or out of this world). As we sat down outside, we were told the kitchen was closing soon. We settled for drinks. When our daughter joined us, I got up to add a chair. However, I was stopped by management and asked whether we were planning to order any food?!??? I pointed out the obvious and was told we couldn't add the chair to our table. The only really weird thing was that we ordered the eggplant chips and the waiter brought the, spilled them all over our table, then used his hands to pick them up and put them back on the stick they were served on and left them for us to eat. To be honest I was starving and had been drinking so I ate them but my sister was disgusted by the carelessness and the fact that the server would assume that it is okay to 1. Drop our food all over the table and 2. Touch our food with his bare hands and still serve it to us. We asked for it to be taken off our bill and the server laughed. Although the decor is nice, here are five reasons that you should never come here: 1) The wait for the food is extremely long. My friend and I waited close to an hour before our first dish arrives. 2) The server is unhelpful. He never filled our glasses with water. 3) The food is mediocre. My avocado toast tasted sour, while my friend's cheese was tiny. 4) This place is small. Do not bring a party larger than four here. Even for a party of two, you feel squished. 5) This restaurant is expensive. The food itself and the mandatory tip included in the check are horrendous. Great new spot - terrific food, interesting menu, and a nice, laid-back-but-cool ambiance. Had a great dinner there last night with really good service, courtesy of the executive chef. It was a treat to have him taking our order and telling us about the different plates. The beef torpedo appetizer was the highlight of the meal - it's moist (sorry) and the cherry bits (sorry again) add an unexpected taste and texture that really complement the ground meat. My other favorite was the roasted beet root pasta - the oricchiette (I think that's what it was) was perfectly al dente and the beets add a really nice touch of sweetness. Oh and the house made, fresh-to-order gelato should not be missed. I'll definitely be back, and am looking forward to trying brunch sometime. read more

I think you'll enjoy the feel of this space, it's not overly concerned with decor. It's a Nolita bar with efficient service and tasty offerings, a place where you can spend a lot of time just enjoying being in the moment, unless it's busy and they need your table. Worst customer service I've seen in NYC. Although the ladies next to us at the bar got served and chatted by the bearded bartender, our presence was not acknowledged in the 15' we were there. Not even a look, or a glass of water. Why? Does that have to do with the restaurant's concept or the lack of management? I can't think of many things that can ruin your experience more than that. I live in the neighborhood and was excited to watch this restaurant take shape and was looking forward to it opening. I have now been there two times since its opening and have unfortunately, time and time again been disappointed in my experience. I usually sit at the bar and both times the bartenders have been fantastic, as well as the manager (I don't remember her name but she's a really sweet asian woman). Firstly, I find the menu completely deceiving. I'm not sure if they're trying to be "creative" but originally, they had a plate that was called "Charred eggplant salad"....It was just baba ghanoush! When it arrived it was more annoyed than anything...why not just call it what it is? It wasn't a salad, it was a dip and completely overly saturated with garlic (I'm Arabic and I know my baba ghanoush) I just looked up the menu now and see they've changed it to call it its proper name. I also got the chopped salad. Completely and utterly bland. The lentil stew is palatable but nothing exciting. My friend whom I've been there with one both occasions got the steak. The first occasion, the steak (and accompanying kale) was SO salty it was nearly inedible. We're not complainers when we go out, realized it was their first month, and gave it another go the next time. He got the steak again....again it was overly salty! We ordered their "homemade ice cream" for dessert. Not only did it take more than 20 minutes to arrive, but when it did, it was literally like watery yogurt. Completely melted....or was that how its supposed to look...who knows. And what was even more surprising was that the bartender acted as if nothing was wrong with it! It was almost laughable especially considering that 15 minutes into our wait for dessert, we reminded the bartender and we could see that someone had forgotten to put in the order or bring it out.
