Just not good today. Service is awesome as always but the food was pretty bad. Chips seemed a little stale and the salsa, while it's nice you are given options between spicy and mild, had no texture. Almost none to not at all veggies. Little bits of onion? That'd be nice. Maybe it just came off the top of the bowl? Fajitas had plenty of small bits of steak, beans, rice with a dollop of sour cream and stale flour tortillas. Had to ask for quac and cheese which I feel should be standard, right? I googled it and it said I was right. Internet is never wrong. Ice water was awesome! Staff are awesome! Decor is on point for TexMex for sure. Military discount is also a big bump. Friendly service. Good portions. HUGE margarita's if you want them. Short weight on a Friday night. Music playing. Friendly service when we walked in. We are new to the area and this place was recommended. Menu with a lot of choices. My daughter and I split the birria tacos and chicken fajitas since we couldn't decide. Itdid not disappoint. We asked for no cheese and it was easily accommodated. Ordered the "purse" margarita. It was HUGE! Best part. They will seal it and you ca take it to go if you don't finish it. First time here and visited on Saturday night which was busy for early in the evening. The first thing we noticed when walking in was the front end hostess was not the most friendly and welcoming. However our server was very nice and friendly which made up for it. We started off with a portion of guacamole. They have two different kinds the gringo and the Mexicano. We tried the gringo guacamole dip (which includes onion, cilantro, lime and salt) which was fresh and tasty. For dinner I got the super chimichanga dinner (comes with one shredded chicken and one ground beef each) then with rice and beans as I switched them out for charro beans. This was good but lacked any unique flavors or character to them. My wife got the enchiladas de camaron which is three shrimp enchiladas with rice and guacamole salad. This was good but did have a shrimp tail still attached to one of the shrimp still. Overall this place was good, but I don't know that there was anything special that would keep me coming back as a regular customer. read more

Great food and drinks! Our server Israel was excellent--he kept checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed. The chips and salsa were delicious, and I really liked that they give you two options (one mild and one spicy). We ordered chicken fajitas (make sure you ask if you want flour or corn tortillas), a steak burrito, an order of fries, a jumbo house lime margarita with sugar rim, and a jumbo strawberry margarita with sugar rim. Everything tasted great, though we were a little disappointed with the portion size of the fries--they definitely could've given more. We'll just know next time to ask for a bigger portion if we order fries again. Overall, this is a spot we'll definitely be back to--great service, tasty food, and solid margaritas! read more

My family and I recently visited Rio 150 for dinner. The Carne Asada looked great in the photos, so my son and I both ordered it. Unfortunately, the meat was ridiculously overcooked and so tough, that I could not eat more than a couple of bites. Our server was friendly, but didn't check in until we had all finished eating, so we couldn't address the issue during the meal. When I explained that the dish was not edible and suggested the cook try it, nothing was done. While the server offered to bring something else, we were ready to leave. To my amazement, no adjustment was made to our bill. Overall, the experience was disappointing--not just because of the food, but also due to the lack of response to our concerns. This is a family-owned Mexican restaurant and they came from Tijuana in the Baja Peninsula. The food didn't disappoint at all! Me and my son were both impressed. Btw, I don't say 'My son & I' because I'm rebellious and because it irks me. I imagine an old lady English teacher with black glasses resting on the bridge of her nose and a hunched back telling me to do it right or I will have to write it 100 times. So, this is for you Ms. Crusty! It's me and my son. :) Anyway, our waitress didn't smile once (lol) but she was on the money with any and all changes in the order, was prompt, and well, was prompt. And the rest of the staff is usually friendly. The prices are average and vibe is excellent. I always come here for the birria tacos and they are always a hit. The service is nice and quick. The ambiance is a vibe good music in the background as you wait on your order. I get mine to go but at times I've sat and ate and it was really good service and good flight drinks, they are not stingy with alcohol in those drinks, so good. read more

Based on the drastic variance in the rating of this place, I guess it's safe to say either you hate it or love it. For me- I loved it. My sister opted to host a granny lunch at this restaurant and we enjoyed our time! We were immediately seated when we walked in about 5 minutes prior to our 12pm reservation. Our server came over shortly after we were seated and took out drink orders. She was very attentive and ensured everyone in our party was happy. We started out with a few appetizers. The guacamole was great! The table ordered a little of everything and no one had complaints regarding their meals. The alcoholic drinks are massive. My family came here for the first time a couple nights ago. We called ahead to ask about the vegan options for me. They said they would be able to make a few of their vegetarian meals vegan so we gave it a try. Their best options for me were either the veggie fajitas or the ACP vegetarian dish, both of which I'd have to take off the cheese and sour cream. I opted for the latter, and I ended up getting a side of black beans too. I was pleasantly surprised with the big dish of rice and lots of mixed vegetables I was served! We also started out with the chunky guacamole which we all really enjoyed. My family liked their dishes too, for the most part. So I actually like this place. The food taste pretty authentic. I love the pastor taco on the al la carte menu, it's so flavorful. I would not recommend the steak because it's super dry. Anything on my menu is pretty good. Service is good and food comes out pretty quick. I feel like everytime I come, it's always busy no matter what. The ambiance is very fast pace, not much wiggle room as I feel like their tables are too close to one another. They do go all out for birthdays and give you dessert and let you wear the big sombrero. They share parking with other businesses so it can get pretty crowded. Definitely try the Willie taco if you want something more authentic as they serve cactus with their toppings. They're known for their monstrous margaritas (56oz!) but I knew I wouldn't be able to finish so I got a flight with various flavors, the others got the large margs. They come with something on fire so it's fun to watch & get your drink. To eat we had queso, pollo ranchero, & fajitas. All were delicious. Used to be Unica but that became too common and "Paul's Favorite Mexican Food Place" was somehow too limiting, so Rio 150 it is..! don't get me wrong, I'll still be eating here because, well, you know... the only thing that changed was the name; food, drinks, service and décor are the same as they ever was and I like it like that. took a seat at the bar recently and sampled the Enmoladas: plate of chicken enchiladas under mole sauce plus beans and rices and a margarita. Was in the area doing a little retail therapy and I have been wanting to try this place. It did not disappoint! Stopped in for lunch and it was pretty busy but service and food came out fast. I didn't love the chips. They were a little stale for me but I didn't go there to her full on chips! Tried the beef chalupa-so good! I would go back for that alone! I also had the lunch ACP which was a very nice size portion. I had some left for the next day. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bar. Oh and the margs are really good too. Came for a birthday celebration on a Saturday night. I had the tacos de camarón and they were great! Long wait and virtually no indoor waiting space to accommodate the large amount of people they get, so you have to wait outside (wasn't a problem to me but may be something to consider for others). The carnitas had an overly floral flavor and the meat had what can best be described as "tentacles" which made it nauseating too look at, the children's hot dog was burnt and the bun was soggy and stale. A man was on the phone upon arrival I assume he is the manager. He sat me and let him know it was my first time here, he seems surprised. The server comes around a couple of times wanting to know what I wanted to drink and my order? Again explaining it was my first visit and had a few questions about menu items. Water was requested and order placed for asada with cactus and onions no more than medium on temperature and absolutely no cilantro. He agreed and off he goes, then comes back to the table asking about temperature for the meat. Surprised several minutes later my dish arrived. Two bites in found the meat well done and full of cilantro? The manager had to be flagged down explaining what the order was again. Saturday while out with my guy we decided to do lunch. I was in the mood for Mexican so to Mooresville we went to Rio 150. We really had a good time the big margarita was delicious the bartender did his thing! I had the California burrito with steak. Now I wish the steak was a little more seasoned. My guy got the tacos with the consommé and he really enjoyed his food. Now the menu is a a lot and may be a bit overwhelming they have lots of choices. Because the menu is so vast I would definitely go back and try something different. This place is very cozy and the seating arrangements are in close proximity of each other. There are a couple of tables outside but, you will be in front of the building as the restaurant is located In shopping center. For service I give them 3 stars. Our waiter seemed to be in a rush and he didn't take time to explain anything on the menu or give suggestions. He didn't even ask what flavor margarita I wanted. Rio 150 is a great place to get together with friends and have a few drinks and great food. And for that they will get 5 stars! I've been dying to try this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. Came on a Saturday night there was a wait but I was able to do call ahead seating at the downtown Mooresville location. I went here with a friend on a Friday night after work around 7pm. This place was busy. They had about a 30min wait. The place is a little on a smaller side so when it's busy it is a little tight and loud in there. The food was good. I got Barría tacos and my friend got steak, shrimp and rice. We shared a pitcher of frozen strawberry margaritas which were good. For the two of us with the pitcher we got about 4-5 drinks each out of the picture with was nice. They did have parking there. There were tables outside to sit and wait and you can order a drink at the bar and sit outside while your table is ready. The staff was nice. 4.5 stars rounded to 5. Been here only for lunch and the only thing for me that would have given it a solid 5 stars would have been if the salsa would have been chunkier. That's petty I know but I like what I like. Unlike other restaurants that have increased their price and reduced the quantity on the plate, this one still gives a dinner sized portion for a lunch value rate. It's unheard of today but a huge Pat on the back to the owner and management staff for this pleasant surprise. The food has been terrific and as good as any Mexican restaurant I've been to including my favorite. One way I judge a Mexican restaurant is by how many Hispanics eat there.
