First time here and visited on Saturday night which was busy for early in the evening. The first thing we noticed when walking in was the front end hostess was not the most friendly and welcoming. However our server was very nice and friendly which made up for it. We started off with a portion of guacamole. They have two different kinds the gringo and the Mexicano. We tried the gringo guacamole dip (which includes onion, cilantro, lime and salt) which was fresh and tasty. For dinner I got the super chimichanga dinner (comes with one shredded chicken and one ground beef each) then with rice and beans as I switched them out for charro beans. This was good but lacked any unique flavors or character to them. My wife got the enchiladas de camaron which is three shrimp enchiladas with rice and guacamole salad. This was good but did have a shrimp tail still attached to one of the shrimp still. Overall this place was good, but I don't know that there was anything special that would keep me coming back as a regular customer.

Great food and drinks! Our server Israel was excellent--he kept checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed. The chips and salsa were delicious, and I really liked that they give you two options (one mild and one spicy). We ordered chicken fajitas (make sure you ask if you want flour or corn tortillas), a steak burrito, an order of fries, a jumbo house lime margarita with sugar rim, and a jumbo strawberry margarita with sugar rim. Everything tasted great, though we were a little disappointed with the portion size of the fries--they definitely could've given more. We'll just know next time to ask for a bigger portion if we order fries again. Overall, this is a spot we'll definitely be back to--great service, tasty food, and solid margaritas!

This is a family-owned Mexican restaurant and they came from Tijuana in the Baja Peninsula. The food didn't disappoint at all! Me and my son were both impressed. Btw, I don't say 'My son & I' because I'm rebellious and because it irks me. I imagine an old lady English teacher with black glasses resting on the bridge of her nose and a hunched back telling me to do it right or I will have to write it 100 times. So, this is for you Ms. Crusty! It's me and my son. :) Anyway, our waitress didn't smile once (lol) but she was on the money with any and all changes in the order, was prompt, and well, was prompt. And the rest of the staff is usually friendly. The prices are average and vibe is excellent. This place is in high demand and one of the buzziest (and busiest) restaurants in the Lake Norman area on the weekend. Oh, and they have monster margaritas and beers, but I didn't partake in those. Definitely recommended!

Based on the drastic variance in the rating of this place, I guess it's safe to say either you hate it or love it. For me- I loved it. My sister opted to host a granny lunch at this restaurant and we enjoyed our time! We were immediately seated when we walked in about 5 minutes prior to our 12pm reservation. Our server came over shortly after we were seated and took out drink orders. She was very attentive and ensured everyone in our party was happy. We started out with a few appetizers. The guacamole was great! The table ordered a little of everything and no one had complaints regarding their meals. The alcoholic drinks are massive. I am not a huge drinker so I can't personally speak to the taste. Overall this is a solid spot for Mexican cuisine.

ACP Vegetarian Dinner, no cheese and no sour cream

My family came here for the first time a couple nights ago. We called ahead to ask about the vegan options for me. They said they would be able to make a few of their vegetarian meals vegan so we gave it a try. Their best options for me were either the veggie fajitas or the ACP vegetarian dish, both of which I'd have to take off the cheese and sour cream. I opted for the latter, and I ended up getting a side of black beans too. I was pleasantly surprised with the big dish of rice and lots of mixed vegetables I was served! We also started out with the chunky guacamole which we all really enjoyed. My family liked their dishes too, for the most part. My dad said his chalupas could've been a little crispier and my aunt said the chicken burritos were ok but the hard tacos she really liked. All in all we would return!

Just a cold sandwhich. Never had a cold torta bread not toasted ever. And for 14 dollars? Just the sandwhich. Crazy to me. No flavor. Think the kids were just rushing to get out.the steak was super tough and dry. Couldn't even eat it

So I actually like this place. The food taste pretty authentic. I love the pastor taco on the al la carte menu, it's so flavorful. I would not recommend the steak because it's super dry. Anything on my menu is pretty good. Service is good and food comes out pretty quick. I feel like everytime I come, it's always busy no matter what. The ambiance is very fast pace, not much wiggle room as I feel like their tables are too close to one another. They do go all out for birthdays and give you dessert and let you wear the big sombrero. They share parking with other businesses so it can get pretty crowded. Definitely try the Willie taco if you want something more authentic as they serve cactus with their toppings. The drinks look amazing and delicious. I would definitely make this my top spots to go to.

If you are a drinker than yes this place is for you. The food was ok, overpriced for bland food. The Quesabirria tacos had no flavor. Plain meat. The Elotes was just ok, I have had better. Service was not great, we waited forever for the server to bring us the check, we had to ask another person to go get our waiter because he was talking at the bar. The restaurant itself was nice, crowded, tables to close together to the point you sit uncomfortable.

Used to be Unica but that became too common and "Paul's Favorite Mexican Food Place" was somehow too limiting, so Rio 150 it is..! don't get me wrong, I'll still be eating here because, well, you know... the only thing that changed was the name; food, drinks, service and décor are the same as they ever was and I like it like that. took a seat at the bar recently and sampled the Enmoladas: plate of chicken enchiladas under mole sauce plus beans and rices and a margarita. I'm not from there and don't know from authentic but I'm still prepared to give it a muy buena! because it was :-) :-) tender saucy chickens and rich savory sauce. beans is beans, rice is rice, but it isn't about the rice and beans, it's about time to spend time with friends. leaving full-up with dinner is a bonus:-)

Was in the area doing a little retail therapy and I have been wanting to try this place. It did not disappoint! Stopped in for lunch and it was pretty busy but service and food came out fast. I didn't love the chips. They were a little stale for me but I didn't go there to her full on chips! Tried the beef chalupa-so good! I would go back for that alone! I also had the lunch ACP which was a very nice size portion. I had some left for the next day. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bar. Oh and the margs are really good too. I had the peach margarita and it was very refreshing. Will def be back!

Rio 150 is a restaurant that you definitely should try at least once! First of all everyone in there is so friendly! The restaurant is a bit small so you may have to wait to get seated. The food comes out fast and it's tasty! And, lastly they have some of the biggest drinks ever! Y'all must try them out.

I ordered the pork belly bao buns, but they missed the mark for me. Coming from NY, I'm used to bao buns being marshmallow-soft and pillowy, but these were a hard, and the pork belly itself was quite tough. Our wonderful waitress noticed I only took one bite and brought the manager over. He explained that the cut is naturally mostly fat, which I understand, but the texture just wasn't quite right because it should be tender not tough. I declined a replacement dish, and he kindly credited it on our bill, though the interaction felt a little awkward. My husband's salmon unfortunately had a very heavy mustard flavor. The spinach farrotto underneath was quite salty. Since there isn't a kids menu which is fine, my daughter ordered the burger plain, but it wasn't really a hit for her. My coconut guava Paloma was okay definitely the best part of my meal though it tasted a little artificial. The ambiance has a lot of potential, and they had live music playing. However, it was a bit too loud for the space, forcing guests to raise their voices just to speak to each other. We also noticed our table hadn't been wiped down thoroughly before we sat down. The absolute silver lining of our evening was our waitress. She was incredibly sweet, highly attentive, and took great care of us. She is truly the reason I am giving 3 stars. She mentioned that they offer a completely different menu for brunch. Because the setting is so pretty and the service was so good, we might give them another chance for brunch down the road, but we likely wouldn't return for dinner. Proof that lighting and plating can hide a lot! Captured these beautiful views last night, even though the dinner itself was a bit of a letdown.

I noticed they also have a stage for live performances, which is a nice touch--I'd love to come back when there's a show. I ordered a Tequila Sunrise, Long Island Iced Tea, and my usual go-to, Liquid Marijuana--all were really good. Each of those drinks was around $14, although I'm not sure if the price ever changes depending on the night or bartender. My partner had what I believe was called Smoke on the Water #3, which tasted great and was somewhere between $8-$11. However, his drink didn't come with the smoky presentation (he had ordered it twice) we later saw a couple get closer to closing time--maybe it was just too busy earlier for them to do that little extra. One thing I really appreciated: no strict dress code. I was wearing a tank top t-shirt and still felt welcome, unlike the bar next door (possibly a dive bar) that turned me away. It's refreshing to find a place with great vibes, strong drinks, and an inclusive atmosphere. They also serve food, though I didn't get to try any this time. I forgot to snap a picture of the menu--sorry! But I'll definitely be back again. This place has good energy, solid drinks, and a chill environment worth returning to.

From load-in onward, management seemed far more concerned with monitoring and restricting the performance than supporting live entertainment. Before the show even began, there were already complaints about potential volume levels simply from seeing the sound equipment and production setup. The band and crew made extensive efforts to accommodate every concern throughout the night. The drummer used hot rods instead of regular sticks, the FOH engineer kept the band under very controlled volume levels, and even the lighting setup was intentionally kept minimal and non-intrusive out of respect for the venue. Despite all of those accommodations, management continued hovering throughout the evening and interrupting over very minor issues. It created an unnecessarily tense atmosphere for both the performers and production crew. Live music requires a certain level of comfort and trust between the venue and the people running the show, and unfortunately that never existed here. In addition, one of the bartenders consistently came across as dismissive and talked down to members of the band and crew during the night. At one point, they stated that this was "a bar that happens to have music," and proceeded to lecture me on how sound works and how customers would not be able to hear each other if the band was too loud. This was particularly frustrating considering the extensive efforts already being made by both the band and audio crew to keep levels controlled and respectful for the room. Everyone involved on the production side remained professional and cooperative throughout the evening, but the overall attitude toward live music and production made the experience unnecessarily stressful. As someone who works behind the scenes to help create a professional live experience, it was disappointing to feel like every aspect of the production was treated as a problem rather than part of the entertainment guests came to see. If a venue only wants extremely quiet background music with little to no production presence, they would likely be better suited booking solo acoustic performers instead of full live bands with sound and lighting support.
