Came with my husband for trivia night with my co-workers. We got there 30 minutes before it started. The place was busy we ordered as soon as we got there and our waiter brought us water right away. An hour later and we still had no food. After people at our table ordered and got theirs before us. While another who ordered the same thing at the same time as them did not. My husband tracked down our waiter who was all over the place due to it being so busy. We finally got our food.. the server who brought it said yeah everyone was hungry at the same time as you. Our food was cold like it had been sitting for a while. I got a cheese Quesadilla and it was frigid... my husband ordered a burger and the bun was actually soggy due to sitting out for a while. They offered to remake it or bring us something else but at this point over an hour and 20 minutes into waiting for our food and being hangry, I said I'd eat it cold. The waiter got defensive which was not appreciated being that we were not rude about it just hungry and disappointed. She was like I only take the orders which I get but still and hour and 20 minutes for your food and she didn't check back with the table to see if we got our orders again granted due to under staffing for the amount of people here. And a comedy event upstairs. Also the rest of our group finally got the rest of there food after we said something. After talking with everyone they also messed up on beer orders as well. Overall not impressed and management needs to staff better. If they are going to host 2 big events they need to be prepared and better planed. One unhappy dissatisfied customer.... if the food had been warm when served and not soggy it would have been ok I think. The salsa was really good at least. Rio Bravo has been open for a few months now, and I've been here more than once. It's in a kinda weird space, but they have definitely made the most of it. The brewery and bar area are awesome. The bar is long and has lots of space. You can look into the brewery and the whole thing feels open and inviting. It's a mix of industrial space and homey comfort. Kinda cool. The Beer is surprisingly good for a new brewery. A short distance in quality to the top. They have a nice selection of ABQ classics (and by that I means hoppy beers) but also different styles. I suspect anyone can find something they like here. I can't wait to see where they are in a year and see how their beer has progressed. I bet it's a lot. My wife LOVES the fact that they have both hooks to hang your purse/jacket under the bar as well as outlets for people to plug in their devices. It would be sooooo tempting to come her and work and drink all day. And since they have free wifi, I could actually do that! The staff has been really friendly every time. They're happy to talk beer, provide a sample, or just leave you alone and let you send more and more progressively drunk emails as you try to work and drink all day. Plus, they have several TVs around the place to watch the game or the latest crappy talk show. They have a "beer lab" there, and I will be very curious what they do with this. It could be an amazingly cool resource for the public, for home brewers, or even for people to learn a little microbiology. I'll be watching this. A few suggestions: a couple of dart boards would be great! Also, there needs to be some better parking. But the food trucks were great, and since there is very little else local in that area, that is essential! This place is likely to be great in the next year or so. read more

I went to an event on Saturday and the place was slammed. Despite this, staff communicated with us and did an amazing job. The food was delicious and we had a blast. Highly recommend for big events or group outings you have coming up! Will definitely come back again. read more

Came for the "Grand Opening" though it had apparently been open previously. It was pretty packed, but everyone was well taken care of, and as my friend described, it was "very organized chaos." Yummy complimentary pasta salad and little sandwiches and cookies were offered (perfect with my Karl's Hefe!) and the space was very open and fantastic. I love how large the bar counters are and stretch around the joint. There's a nice patio outside and some classy picnic tables to park your happy self. As for the brews, I tried the Amber, the Lemon Shandy and Karl's Hefe. Pleased with all! I loved the Shandy's tartness and would get it again for sure. The Watermelon Shandy was also well regarded by others, but I don't really go crazy for watermelon so I steered away. Check this place out! Perfect after work let loose spot! It may look like your average brewery, but Rio Bravo Brewery is anything but! I stopped by with my best friend on my birthday and was immediately greeted by Kristen and Miranda, not Austin (just kidding). Not only did they greet me, they also gave me some cupcakes for my birthday. This is an example of things I noticed all the bartenders, even Austin, do for their regulars. We ordered some nachos from their kitchen and tried different beers. The chicken nachos were delicious. Ask for their monthly beer card, after trying eight different beers, you'll get a free T-shirt. Now that's a bargain. Once you find their location on 2nd Street, you'll return for an awesome time. Not to mention, the men's bathroom almost always smells clean. I wanted to love Rio Bravo's food as much as I loved their beer but the burger ended up well-done and the fries were literally cold. I understand that not everything will be perfect every single time, but when you are paying upwards of $15 for a burger is should be on point. Ordered a muffuletta that was a special of the day and was not on their menu. First half of the sandwich was good, it came with balsamic vinegar and oil. It was prepared with cheddar and turkey, which I found odd since most muffulettas I've had are prepared with provolone and both salami and capocollo. I took the second half of the sandwich to go. I found a piece of paper inside the other half of my sandwich, stuck between the tomato and the meat. The paper was what I assumed to be the wax packing paper that is between sandwich meats when it is packaged. Overall, decent-flavored sandwich, definitely turned off by the paper fiasco, and not worth $9. read more

Met a friend here for drinks during Covid. They have 2 patios, we sat in the back one which had plenty of open space and nice atmosphere. They have a drink great selection. I normally only like margaritas, but the waiter recommended a mango and something hard cider and it was delicious. I wasn't planning to order food but they had a great deal on street tacos, 3 for just $9 and you can mix & match. We chose this place because it's hard to find a place where you can meet a friend for drinks during this crazy pandemic, but I'd definitely go back for the drinks & eats. read more

I really enjoyed the venue and the beer. It's a great place to grab a drink...but not a bite. My friend and I got burgers and our buns were burned. My fries were also burned and my burger was very dry. The food was not at all enjoyable and definitely not worth the money. We have been coming here since 2017 because of the New Mexico Piñon Coffee Porter, which is my all-time favorite beer. The beer, food, and service used to be great, but lately the beer is the only thing that remains so. The service has been slow to the point of my husband having to go to the bar and ask someone to come over and take our order. We typically come here in the late afternoon, between the lunch and dinner crowds when it's not crowded. There is plenty of staff on hand to check in on us, but they don't bother coming over. We had to go up to the bar to ask for more chips and another round of beer. In addition, the food selection and quality has dropped significantly. Last two times we were here we ordered guacamole with the chips and it was well beyond its prime - actually brownish in color. My husband ordered the smoked brisket and it was tough and fatty. I was also sad to learn that they are dropping their black bean burger from the menu, leaving only a couple of choices for a vegetarian. A portobello burger is not a good alternative to a black bean burger. The fried avocados are tasty, but so small you'd have to order six of them to feel full. They don't come with any sides and don't offer any, such as black beans, pinto beans or rice, to make a meal rather than a snack. Many restaurants have wonderful choices for vegetarians. Rio Bravo should broaden its horizons and offer more creative choices. Learning about the owner's attitude toward minimum wage has me looking for an alternative to my favorite beer. ABQ has many breweries from which to choose, so the search is on for a replacement! read more

What more can I say: this place is awesome. I first got a taste of Rio Bravo when I attended this years hopfest. I'm not one for sweet Ale, but their Watermelon Shandy was delicious. The experience left me wanting to try some of their other brews. I was quite impressed when I finally got the chance to go into their brewery located off 2nd street south of I-40. This has to be one of the most visually appealing breweries that I have been in around ABQ. They have an extensive selection of house brews, and they also feature brews on tap from other local breweries. My favorite brew here thus far is the Snake Bite IPA. My only complaint about this place is that it is a bit out of the way from where I live, but I won't let that take anything away from how awesome it is. Support local, support RBBC. read more

This is (at least currently) a really chill laid back brewery. Plenty of seating, the live music wasn't overpowering, and a nice spacious patio. Really pleasant after a day at work when you don't really want to have to battle a group of people for a beer. They have a wide selection of beers (16!) Including some barrel aged stuff that some of our group got pretty excited about. Prices were reasonable and this would be my pick for a relaxed summer happy hour. read more

I stopped in for a quick lunch when working in the area and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce. It had big slices of avocado and some pico with jalapeño. It was delicious! You have a choice of sides and so I selected the sweet potato fries and they were also incredible. They put a little brown sugar or something sweet but not overwhelming on them. I will be stopping back in for lunch! Since I was working I didn't drink but I'm sure their beer is just as good. I was kind of between 3 and 4 stars with this one. I really enjoyed their beer, I thought they had a great selection and some unique brews! Additionally their guest taps were awesome, I had the monks cider which I've never seen before (despite it being my favorite brewery)! Fun fact: this is the ONLY cider made with 100% local New Mexican apples! They had an amazing lemongrass wheat beer which is perfect for summer! Truly amazing beer and so much of it!! If I were reviewing on beer alone, I would give this place more than five stars! I loved the atmosphere and the server was super accommodating and walked us through the different beers since we hadn't been before. On another note the food was not great, probably two stars would be generous. The wings were kind of hard and over cooked; the quesadilla slices were stacked on top of each other in an ungodly amount of sauce, which made the meal gooey and soupy. I really wanted to like the food but it was just bland and not well cooked. If I based this review on the food I would probably drop to one star because the thought of those wings and quesadilla makes me a little queasy. But please don't let that deter you from coming here! The beer is some of the best in the city! Just eat before hand and enjoy some of New Mexico's finest beer and knowledgeable beer tender! Can you go wrong with a brewery that is a walking distance to your house? Nope, you really can't. As National beer day came and went, I unselfishly volunteered to scout breweries that would sit 15+ people (comfortably). That and taste test, I know I know. Hard task. So since I had seen this brewery from across the shady dog park I went ahead and tried it, I tried 6 or so beers and enjoyed 3 pints that night. This brewery is very spacious and not as loud and compacted as other breweries (I'm talking about you Marble and La Cumbre) Their beers are tasty, the space is nice, I did not give five stars due to the service, it can take a while to get someone to notice you. What's the point of Uber when you can't drink beer? I tried to get a fourth beer and I was denied by the bartender. I know a lot of breweries have a limit of three, but that's a little absurd. I wasn't disruptive, and was cut off. Not cool, dude. Edit: I've mostly forgiven them, but am cautious. Rio Bravo's Oktoberfest is my favorite out of all the Albuquerque microbrewed German variants. For me, it even beat out Bow and Arrow's this year. I hope they brew it for eternity. Rio Bravo has always been a kind of mixed bag in my experience. Some nights it's dead, some nights it's hoppin', and some nights it should be hoppin' when it's dead. With a huge parking lot and Biergarten, as well as a ton of games, this place is really fun. Sure, they may not accommodate families (pro tip: breweries were made solely for adults), but I've always thought they were a good time with good beer. I also enjoy the comedy events they host in the upper floor. I won't review the comedy itself, but the space is adequate and it is pretty decently soundproofed. Only if the downstairs band is wailing will you notice, but usually they have pretty chill acts. I am very sad that The Burger Stand is gone. The Kobe beef burger I had here a month ago was outstanding. I went tonight to fix my burger craving and was sorely disappointed. Their menu is much more limited now, and gone is the sauce bar with its amazing avocado mayo and infinite pickles :( Overall, Rio Bravo is a fun place to go to. We drove a couple of minutes away to find this gem of a brewery - The outside was deceiving inside was awesome - the beer was tasty with a wide range of styles -I had what I thought was the best cider I have had in a while .A watermelon cider that was amazing.Their food was on point. So my friend hosted art night here last night and it was a blast. They played music and we all sat around, drank beer, and let the creativity flow. I got the Wit that they have on draft and it was super smooth. I love me a good wheat beer. Overall not a bad beer selection. Also, they have really great food. Kind of pricey but for a brewery, the food was incredible. I only had fries since I'm pescatarian but my pal loved the burger covered in bacon and topped w an onion ring. Great ambiance, low-lighting, awesome beer selection & appetizers. I visited on a Friday night and they had a live guitarist who had the whole brewery singing happy birthday to my mom. So I've attended a few big games at this stadium, I've watched the team win some and lose some, and recently I enjoyed some real perks -- the food -- that make this place a go-to when you're looking for a good time. When all is said and done, my take is that the place could use an all-star coach to put it over the top. In the meantime, the beer is worthy and the bites are tight. The main critique is the following: while the bartending situation is totally good for me and my boys, you know, just popping by for a tasty pint and a bite, it's not terribly accommodating for families. Bartenders take all of the orders, deliver dishes, and more often than not, they simply don't have the time to appropriately greet and acknowledge everyone coming through the door. I've found myself schlepping from table to bar, bar to table to handle the basics. That said, again, the beer selection has steadily improved over the last year, pours are generally crowd favorites, the IPA/porter/amber sorta deal. And really, this last visit I came for the burgers, they did not disappoint, exceptionally well cooked, flavorful, one of the better options in the entire city. Check out that condiment bar! Wow. We had our sons rehearsal dinner here in the brewery room. The space was perfect! We played our own music through their speakers. Rio Bravo catered the event with tacos, taquitos, sliders and wings... everything was great. Several people had the beer and it was awesome! The staff here really went out of their way making sure we had everything (even lending me an iPhone charger)! Everyone was very friendly. Makes me wish I lived in Albuquerque...I would frequent Rio Bravo. Thanks Gabe and Aly for all you did...it's hard to coordinate a wedding from afar but you guys made it easy! read more
