It's a nice local brewery...local entertainment ...lots of beer varieties and some local wines. Nice typical bar menu.

We had a terrific lunch at the brewery this afternoon. The service was prompt and friendly, and the outdoor seating was open and pleasant. I started with a Czech Pilsner which was terrific. Unfortunately they were out of the seltzer. We split a nacho and each ordered the street tacos. Everything was fresh and delicious, and we'll definitely definitely be returning. read more

Although this was a second stop because the first location was closed that a friend and I went to, I was not disappointed! We thought "darn, we should have brought the dogs" but we were able to pet and love on the ones that were there. She ordered fish tacos and I ordered the fish and chips (minus the cole slaw, they were out but it was late) The salsa that came with the tortilla chips with the fish tacos was flavorful and colorful and while I had to add a dash of salt, I wished I could have taken some home but didn't ask. The fish and chips were great and for the $11 it was way worth it! Service was great, food was too and the band playing had a great variety playing music you don't always hear. People were playing games and we could still have a conversation. Great variety of beers including some guest beers, wine and non-alcoholic options. Highly recommend and next time I want to try the burger! I'm sure I won't be disappointed. read more

This was one of the worst. Terrible service. Forgot half our drinks, but I couldn't tell him that because he never came back to see if we needed anything else. I'm assuming he forgot to put in one of our meal orders in, because everyone else was done eating by the time I got my food which took 45 min, for a sandwich. The only person that even tried to do his job was the food runner. There was a couple sitting two seats down from us that was checked on multiple times but they did not bother to check to see if we needed anything, it was like we weren't even there. It was a terrible time. And the only good thing to be said about the food is that when it finally came out at least it was hot. read more

Stopped here on a whim and it's fantastic. Piñon Coffee Porter was a different twist on the darker beers you can find in ABQ and not an IPA. Solid food, esp the Burque Salsa. I have only visited RBB a few times on a friday evening. The staff was very good, and made you feel at home here. Since i was driving, i did not drink, had a few tastes from the Beer Flight, but i will say their home brews of root beer and cream soda were awesome... had some wings and they were also very good... much better than anything BDubs puts out. They seem to have a good following and no cover entertainment was also great. read more

The beer is ok when they are not out of the favorites. But today they had 7 employees and they were barely doing the job of one. I have managed restaurants and bars before, and I would fire every one of them. There was less than 30 customers yet the 7 employees still took 20 minutes to get you a beer and I have been waiting an hour for my food. read more

Went on a Friday evening around 8:00. The place was really dead. Just a handful of people. I hadn't been here in a while because of their lack of choice of ciders. That hasn't changed. They only have one cider on tap which happened to be pineapple that evening. The music. Thumbs down. I'm sure the girl performing folk music is very good - but not for that venue. The music was really quite depressing. When people go out on a Friday they want to unwind from a long week and the music should be peppy and cheery. I hope Rio Bravo reconsiders their music choice. Great dog friendly place! We're driving cross country and stopped in Albuquerque for the night. We found a dog park and found Rio Bravo right across the street. We were able to dine inside with our dogs and the service was great! Everyone was very friendly to our dogs and food was great too! read more

Mid afternoon on a Saturday, our family sat in the back. We had a 2 1/2 year old with us and at the table next to ours, another little girl, 4 years old. The two girls started playing together, away from other patrons, in the far back. After about 30 minutes, the owner, who had been sitting and drinking at the bar, came over and made very rude comments about who the kids belonged to and if we wanted a leash for them. Then the woman sitting with the owner drinking at the bar came over and tried to smooth over his comments. Did not sit well with either family. Won't be back. If the bar was crowded and the children were bothering other patrons, I could better understand the owner's poor attempt at asking us to keep our children in their chairs. But it was literally dead in there...no patrons around us except for the table with the other little girl. With dozens of kid friendly places to have a beer mid afternoon on a Saturday, why would we ever go back there. if you have kids with you, consider going someplace else. read more

**This update is specifically about the event space and having a special event at the brewery.** I recently helped organize and attended an event in the upstairs event space that was really disappointing. When we toured the space, I voiced concern that it would be hot and the lighting seemed strange, but I was assured those were not issues. Top complaints at our event: Too loud, too hot, and too dark. We had about 70 people in the room and with all the fans going, everyone was sweating and no one could hear each other. The sound system with microphone (that I hope we weren't charged for, but may have been) was useless. We couldn't even get three people to turn around when speaking into it. At one point someone suggested we turn off the music so it wouldn't be so loud--I had already done that an hour before! We ended up not being able to give any sort of talk/welcoming/toast/etc. It was so dark in the corner where the food was set up that no one could see it, and so most people didn't eat and we had tons of leftover food that was wasted. The food was set up with the vegetarian option being the first thing after the tortillas, and the meat being in a separate warmer further away. Because no one could see very well and nothing was marked, the first few people who ate took the vegetarian filling, thinking that was the taco filling option, which left the vegetarians with nothing to eat but guacamole. I didn't find the food to be that impressive for the cost either. It wasn't *bad* but it was very basic. The food I've eaten at Rio Bravo previously was also a little underwhelming, but we were told during the tour they had just hired a new chef and the catering menu was going to be so much better. Again, not bad...but not special, and a little expensive considering. Also, when we went on the tour, we were shown a media screen they have set up in the space but when we arrived for the event, they were covering it with a blanket-like thing and said we couldn't use it unless we wanted to pay extra. Perhaps that extra charge was mentioned to a co-organizer--I was not involved in all of the contractual details--but it felt a little nickle and dimey. Luckily, I brought my own projector "just in case." Perhaps the craziest thing, was that our rental was supposed to include tours of the brewery for all of our guests, which we advertised in our promotion of the event. When we arrived that evening, we were told the brewery wasn't clean enough for a tour and they would give us vouchers for groups of 10 people to come back at a future date for a beer tasting and tour. Many of the people at our event had traveled in from out of town, so they are all out of luck. And even for the rest of the people--who is going to come back at some future date in an artificial grouping of 10 people? I thought that was very poorly handled. Our event was planned months in advance, so how was that not planned for? At the end of our rental period, we were rushed out of the event space, even though people were drinking (spending money at the bar!) On the one hand, I understand--we rented for a specific period, and my guess is they were paying for someone to be there with us. On the other hand, I was a little surprised, because it didn't seem to be the best business decision. If someone from the brewery had given us the option to pay more to stay another hour, I feel like we would have. Instead, we congregated in the hallway by the bathrooms (the main brewery was too loud with a live band for anyone to talk) with no one spending money at the bar, and the main topic of conversation being where else we could go for people to get drinks (and food for the people who never ate) where we could actually hear each other. We ended up taking our business elsewhere for the rest of the night and agreeing our next event needed to be somewhere where the night could evolve for those who wanted to stay out a bit later. I feel sorry if this reviews seems overly negative, but it's been several weeks since the event and I still have a sour taste when I think about it. Nothing *horrible* happened, but overall, it felt disappointing in many ways. I hope if someone from the brewery reads it, they take it as constructive criticism to do better in the future. Everyone we worked with was nice--it just felt like the details and delivery night-of were not what I expected. read more

This is a pretty big place with tons of seating and a huge bar. If that's not enough, they have a nice patio area out back. Parking is a problem with about 20 parking spaces for the hundreds of people this place will hold. As a result, everyone parks along the streets surrounding the place. So, we entered this cavernous brew pub and took a seat at a table. After about 15 minutes of no service, one of the bar people stopped by took an order from two of our party of four, totally ignored the other two, brought back two sampler glasses of beer and told us our waitress was on her way. Well, after twenty minutes of no service at this table we moved to the bar where we were able to flag down a bartender after about 5 minutes. Thus, there was no way I could rate this place any higher than 1 star. I'll add that the sole food truck outside appeared to be manned by one person who seemed to be taking ten orders then disappearing into the truck for half an hour to prepare the ten orders before coming out to take another ten orders. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Okay, so what about the beers? They do provide a pretty extensive list of beers that should be able to interest just about anyone stopping in. However, I think where they gain in quantity they lack in quality. Overall, the beers just weren't that exciting. Other brew pubs in Albuquerque can offer better beer. Here's a rundown of the beers we did try: Karl's Weizen: Had a bad after taste. Some bitterness but this beer didn't excite us at all. Duke City Pils: Nothing great. Didn't leave a good feeling on the palate. Snake Bite IPA: Good IPA even if it does taste a little tinny. Yes I said "tinny." Roadkill Red: This was a good mellow red. One of our favorites. Rio Bravo Amber: This was also a pretty good beer. Another favorite. Winter Fest Marzen: Wow! Three good beers in a row! This was a nice smooth tasting beer that went down well. Yep! Another favorite! Black Angus Stout: Kind of a heavy stout. Supposed to be 5.9% ABV but it tasted stronger. Maybe the bartender poured us the wrong beer? Old Town Porter: Okay for a porter. Had a nice nutty flavor. I finished off the night with a Winterfest Marzen which we did like. I think their beers could've benefited from a little more carbonation as they all were slightly flat but not significantly. Bottom line here is that the service sucked. I mean it sucked bad! If the Albuquerque brew pub market reaches a point of saturation this will problably be one of the first breweries to shut down because they simply don't take care of their customers. read more

SO conflicted about this place. I absolutely LOVE everything about the building, the bar, the people, the space, the atmosphere. SUCH a great place. We walked in and I was blown away by the arrangements of the fixtures and how amazing it looks at first glance. That feeling does not diminish as you hang out - it's an awesome space. The downer is that I don't really like their beer. Plus, the location is pretty unhelpful. It's on a one-way street, so you have to know where you are going to get there. On the up side, there are multiple ways to get there, they are highly visible, they have their own 62-car parking lot, plus, you can park across the street at Matheson's after 5. Parking for breweries in ABQ tends to suck in general, so this is great. They have a beer garden out back, huge space there to enjoy the beautiful ABQ weather. They actually play pretty good music inside, which is a nice change from the usual crap played in places around here. They also play Jeopardy quite a bit, local sporting events, etc. But that isn't the focus. It's just there if you want. I've had good service all three times I have been there, and they usually have food trucks. Love it! Fortunately, they have guest taps. I really want to love their beer, because I really like this place - but they seem to be suffering from the Albuquerque hops virus. Can we just havw a few that aren't bitter...? Really, not all of us are IPA fans. In general - truly love this place. Hope it kicks ass and takes names. GIve it a shot! read more

Food and beer were pretty good! Service was subpar at best. I was disappointed because I drove across town and could have stayed near home. It took at least 15 minutes before we were served and over 40 minutes for a salad and nachos! It is my birthday and my family and I decided this would be a good place to go. My fiancé and I stopped here for our one night in Albuquerque and this was a highlight! We are big craft brewery fans from California and the beers at Rio Bravo had a nice wide range, they definitely have a beer for everyone. We especially loved their Squirrel Nuts and Fruit Juice IPA. Most of all though, the service and staff were AMAZING! I could not say enough how friendly, accommodating, and just straight up fun the staff was! I definitely recommend this place to anyone in or around the Albuquerque area. If you're a craft beer fan don't miss out!! read more

Rio Bravo is clearly a brewery with big ambition. One step in the door and it is clear, they are trying to go big and go places. Thankfully, their beer mostly stands up to the ambition. They have a nice selection of their own beers as well as some guest taps. I would say that their beer can stand up to the competition but doesn't necessarily rise above it. But, they are also still new so things can change! (Except, their "hefeweizen" is really a kristalweizen since it is filtered losing some of the key hefe flavors). Their atmosphere is really nice. Besides the bar being a bit too high for the stools, it was a nice place to sit. And, with outlets at every-other seat, probably a nice place to have a beer and get some work done (also, they have purse hooks at every seat, a nice attention to detail). Service was uneven. Last time we went, we were helped right away, but when our friend came in and sat with us, he was ignored for a very long time! (and they weren't busy!) So, overall, I look forward to seeing where they go with this place. read more

Had high hopes coming here. Waited a bit to get a server. But it was a decent crowd. Not terribly crowded. Server who came was super friendly and nice. Ordered beer and got them right away. Ordered food. Waited and waited. About 30 mins later He finally came back to tell us the kitchen was running behind and apologized. No problem. Waited. Waited. Waited. Finally we asked another server after another 15 minutes or so. The food finally appeared. No utensils. Had to go to the bar to request some. Food was fine. Beer was fine. Had to request our check as no one appeared again. Watched tables around us order and get food within 10 minutes. So this is a re-review. After my kid ordered the shrimp wrap the review was not as great as it could have been. I still say they have the best beer menu in town. Lovin that Summer Honey. I have been back at least 6 times since my first review and every time the service has been exceptional. I was on the fence about the four stars. I would have been more comfortable with a 3.5. However, the service was great when I went and I'm a sucker for good service. My beautiful friends were in town and we dropped in late on a Friday night. Not very many people but holy moly this place has room to spare. Total plus. Next, we were greeted right away. Bonus. Then we sat down and the waiter was happy to tell us all about the selections. Awesome. We all ended up with flights. I had the lemon, lavender and watermelon shandy plus the house stout. We all ended up with shandy selections and decided to call ourselves the princesses of shandy-land. The bartender was sweet enough to indulge our joke. Much to my dismay the stout did not appeal to my taste buds. It fell a little flat. Not the robust flavor that you'd expect from a stout. The lemon and lavender shandy's were pleasant. I like tart and so the lemon shandy really sat well. The lavender was subtle and I could definitely see myself putting down a couple of pints of that. The big surprise of the evening was the watermelon shandy. I know! It tasted like watermelon but it complimented and fell really nicely into the shandy part of the drink. It kills me to get giving a three start review for this place. I've come to Rio Bravo Brewing before and I loved it. However I came on a night for the Harry Potter Trivia. I would say that's the services was pretty bad and they were very disorganized for having a big event. Orders were wrong and took forever to service. However once I did get my food the Firestone nachos was really good. It's like Carne Adavada with but with chicken. I'm sure I will return again and hopefully be able to write a better review. read more

You know how you feel when you're having a good dream, but you wake up before you can finish it? That feeling of being robbed of something really rewarding, that you want SO BAD, you'd give almost anything to get it? What can you do but cling to the good parts, and try to fill in the blanks... So it is with RBBC, a half-finished dream that affords lingering pleasantries at the same time that it whispers of things unfinished. Kudos to the owners of DRB Electric for following their dream, but they've got a big space and lots of expectations to fill, and it may take awhile to get there. The interior is nice, with its spacious wraparound bar and plenty of seating, but it doesn't quite feel settled. I agree with previous reviews that something ought to be done to inform patrons about Parking and the Biergarten-cum-prison-yard patio out back. Signage, people. Our bartender Lauren was great, as were the pours, and I appreciate the few TV's being mounted high enough to avoid having to look at them. It's comfortable, with easy access from the interior to the food trucks parked outside. A quick visit to their website reveals a commitment to working with food trucks (props!), including a schedule of trucks at least a week in advance so you can catch your favorites. The back patio needs work (fake flowers in real water? Pinterest fail!!), but the live band action is great. Maybe bring someone in to work on the atmosphere--the razor wire and junk piles aren't really that charming; some carefully placed lighting and oversized decorative elements would help create a more defined sense of place. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but in my humble opinion, the value of a well-done beer patio in this town can't be overstated. Like most interrupted reveries, this is one I'd like to revisit in the hope of seeing it to a satisfying completion. read more

Service is seriously lacking here. I went here on a Saturday afternoon. My buddy, who was right in front of me, orders a beer. He gets his beer and pays, then I step up to the bar and wait. And wait. Make eye contact with a bartender and wait. My buddy even asks me what's the problem! Good question I say. Finally get my order in and receive my beer. Good beer. I ordered their porter. I think, maybe this was a one time deal. My wife goes there tonight. Comes home and tells me all about her horrible service. Same situation as mine. Waits at the bar, makes eye contact and nothing. This place is huge and looks great. However, with the trend in horrible service, I do not plan on going back. Thankfully Albuquerque has plenty of breweries with great beer AND great service. read more

My partner and I got coupons for a free pint after donating blood a few months ago, and we have been excitedly saving them for a special occasion to try this place for the first time. Went in last night, and before we ordered our beer, an employee told us he wouldn't accept our coupons. He told us they were fake, and that only one of us had donated blood since they weren't both stamped with the date. Telling a new customer they are liars and trying to scam a business with fake coupons is not the way to build your customer base. We left- I'm not giving my money or business to anyone who treats me like that, and I'll make sure to tell my friends and family to spend their time and money at any of a dozen better breweries in the neighborhood. read more

We were on a long road trip and were just passing through Albuquerque and figured we could use a break from driving. Rio Bravo was perfect because it was right along our route and dog friendly. We stopped in for a pint and some food and were pleasantly surprised! The bartenders/waiters were super friendly, the nachos were delicious and the beer was excellent! In fact, one of the best coffee porters I've had (so good I had to have two)! Coincidentally, my hubby accidentally left his phone and thankfully they had it and shipped it to us in Austin. We were so grateful and if we're ever back in town we will for sure stop at Rio Bravo! read more

Attempted to reach out to upper management/ownership in regards to our reception and service we had on March 3rd, 2018 at your brewery. I attempted to copy and past the email into this review, but yelp doesn't allow me to put that many characters in a review. I did post on Facebook, which allowed me to put my whole situation on there. Overall, our reception turned out ok due to Allison, Mike and Sergio. If it wasn't for Mike's truthfulness about our situation, and what we were originally promised, we would have been scrambling and it would have turned out to be a disaster. Allison and Sergio went above and beyond there responsibilities and made sure everything was taken care of. When we first started trying to plan, Aaron was still the manager there, and he was as helpful as he could be before leaving the company. Food services were offered by the burger stand at first, and that was almost impossible to get ahold of anyone to help set up our food. I can see why they were no longer operating there a few weeks after we started this. We were then passed off to Amberly and Chrystal. This was difficult and communication between us and the brewery became difficult, and even though there were several emails exchanged, it didn't seem like the proper information was passed on to make sure that everything was taken care of. It was 2 weeks away from our wedding, and we stopped in to make sure we were set on the beers we wanted for the taps upstairs. We encountered Mike. He was great in regards to verifying information and helping us figure things out that were promised to us, and were not even realistic. He also shared information that Amberly was on her way out, and she should have passed us off to someone else. Chrystal was assisting her, but it would have been nice to know that our main contact was leaving. When we inquired about this news, we were met with rude and unprofessional email by Chrystal. If I would have sent that sort of email out from work, I would have been walked out by my boss and out of a job. This soured our whole outlook on things, and we were in a panic. It was too late to seek out an alternate event space, as we were less than 14 days away. This was additional stress that wasn't needed this close to our wedding. Again, if it wasn't for Mike, we would have had a disaster of a reception, and the day would have been a disaster. Again, this is the very short version. I am unable to add all the details due to the character limit. But I do want to thank Mike, Allison and Sergio for making things better and making sure that things would be handled. The day of set up, sergio busted his butt making sure we had enough tables and chairs for what we were promised. When we initially got there, we only had enough tables and chairs for 50, which wasn't the case. Sergio helped locate the rest and helped up move things around. Allison heard about how badly things have turned and she came up several times throughout the night offering her services. Though things ended turning out ok, due to Sergio and Mike's hard work, and all my groomsmen that helped me pullings together. But it did sour how we feel about RBBC. Wish things could have turned out better. Seems communication is an issue here. read more
