Wow! Can't believe it only has 3 1/2 stars right now --- the other reviewers must have been having a bad day! The restaurant is open, airy and very comfortable, with booth, table and even outdoor seating. My Margarita was HUGE, and their special guacamole, Guacamole Casero, was some of the best I've ever had. We got there around 6:30 on a Friday evening and there was plenty of seating, indoors and out, but when we left at 8, it was starting to fill up and the band on the patio was tuning up. As I sit at home now, around 9pm, I imagine Rio Cantina is really rocking. Give it a try. Unless your taste buds are dead, you won't regret it! read more

I truly loved eating here when they first opened, when margaritas were $7, the staff was prompt, and the food was affordable. I understand the location being at SRP Park can cause financial burdens with renting the space, but strictly increasing the cost of food is not the most feasible solution. The food is average, i've found a place I like more now. If they would do a military discount, margarita discounts on certain days, and/or increase portion sizes, I'd consider giving them another chance. read more

Unfailingly friendly staff. Our order, which always contains substitutions and non-standard requests, has never once been even slightly incorrect. The waitstaff are invariably respectful, timely, attentive, and very kind. We love having this excellent establishment within walking distance of our apartment. My wife and I don't live far away so we walked here with our dogs. They have a very nice patio that is pet-friendly, as there were actually a few dogs already there. The wait staff were helpful and actually loved the dogs being there. There was a decent crowd on a non-game night but still enough open tables. Felt popular without feeling crowded. As far as the food goes, this is your classic, local Mexican restaurant. You know what I'm talking about. Every town in America has 5 or 6 of them and the menu is almost the same. That's not a complaint. Sounds like other reviewers came in hoping it was a Michelin Star restaurant. It's not but that's ok. We came for chips & salsa, tacos, and margaritas (which were generous with the alcohol). We were happy with what we got. So if you're looking for a standard Mexican restaurant, but in a new location with a nice (pet-friendly) patio and nice wait staff, give this place a shot. read more

In the past I have enjoyed the food here. But do not go here if you are concerned about COVID-19. It's clear the employees and management of this restaurant think the pandemic is a joke. They tried to seat us directly beside another family, about 2 feet apart. No one in the restaurant was wearing a mask, not the hostess, not our waiter and not the food preparation staff. The waiter leaned forward over our table literally inches from our faces to sit down food and drinks. Eating in this place made me feel very uncomfortable. I definitely do not recommend this place if you are worried about coronavirus or are a high risk or elderly person. I've eaten here several times with my husband and the food and service has been fantastic. We live in walking distance of the restaurant and is an affordable and delicious date night when we don't feel like driving into town. When I go to Mexican restaurants I love getting veggie fajitas and I must say, Rio Cantina's veggie fajitas are the best I have had. They are perfectly seasoned and cooked. It was tepid in temperature, and the refried beans were basically pureed baby food with no flavor to them at all. I had two large margaritas - normally, I'd at least have a little buzz and numbish nose --- tonight? Nothing - weak margarita --- "ehh" food that was barely room temperature. Staff was the bright spot - they were friendly - kind and even took $ off our final bill. The location is nice - it looks like on a weekend it'd be a "hoppin" place -- but don't go for the food or the drinks -- you'll be disappointed. This was the worst customer service I ever experienced. I drove down from Atlanta Georgia to have dinner with my family. The servicer was extremely rude. We ordered a drink , it was flat . We asked for another drink , the waiter told us we would have pay for the flat drink and the new drink. We explain to the service it was flat. He insist that we have to pay for it. She will ignore you completely, even if you arrived 10 minutes before a group who she chooses to acknowledge. Our dinner at Rio Cantina was some of the worst Mexican food we have ever had. The margaritas were dilute, the nachos were simply chips covered with sour cream/salsa/guacamole without the usual (and needed!) melted cheese, the enchilada had almost no sauce and was simply a tortilla with chicken, and the taco was tasteless. The chicken in the various dishes was bland, without evidence of being sautéed or immersed in sauce. And the meal was expensive. We've been to many, many Mexican restaurants over the years, and to us this restaurant was way below average. We will not be back. read more

Ate here today with the family while at the Greenjackets game. Chips and salsa were tasty, though chips were very greasy. The burrito was smaller than my daughter's taco for almost double the price! The menu said the taco came with a side of nachos and salsa but really was served with plain chips. My husband had to ask the server to top off his beer because they poured it with so much foam. I really wanted to love/like this place. Great location right across from the Crowne Plaza where I was staying. And it's attached to the minor league baseball team stadium, The Green Jackets! Should be a very "happening" restaurant! It wasn't. There was a game tonite so I expected it to be crowded! It wasn't.! I walked in and saw 2 parties. There were 5-6 servers sitting at booths with nothing to do. Not a good sign. But I decided to give them a chance.!! BTW, all servers were Latino so I had high hopes!!! I ordered the steak and chicken fajitas. The chips brought in advance, were warm and crispy! I didn't care for the salsa - too acidic for me. My order came in literally 3 minutes! Sadly, it was okay at best. The fajitas came cooked on a plate, NOT on a sizzling pan. The chicken and the steak tasted exactly the same, bland. I rarely, if ever, add salt to my food. But I did tonite. And then I added more. Still just okay. No flavor at all. The mashed avocado and the sour Cream were GREAT! Sad, isn't it? I was very surprised at just how bland this dinner was. It's not that hard to make good Mexican food. I would not come back here again unless I hear that it has greatly improved. read more
