Talk to Abel or Jorge. They can help you figure out how much tile you need and even give you some realistic feedback to help you make the best decisions for the look you want to achieve. Don't overlook going to a specialty tile store even if you see other options at big competitor stores. These guys do tile and they do it 7 days a week. They know what they are doing. Our contractor brought us to these thieves. The store is nice enough. Prices seem a little high, but not insane. Decent selection. So, why the 1 star? Abel J. Olivares. We bought tile, but realized we wouldn't need all of it. So, when we try to modify our order, he goes berserk and starts claiming we chose special order tile (we didn't) and refusing to issue a refund. The true indicator of trustworthy business is how they handle customers after the initial order. Customers should understand that no matter what Abel says, it's all lies and that each sale is a final sale. I'll be exploring legal options to recover my money, but buyer beware. read more

I called ahead and asked if they had any broken pieces of tile for an art project for my kids and they said "Sure, come on down." It was a Sunday and my errands had me running late so I arrived 10 mins before closing. They were SO great and SO accommodating. I couldn't believe it, but they LOADED my car up with several slabs of marble and granite tile that had just a tiny corner crumbled off. So much that my car was riding low. I mean this stuff was heavy! I have enough supplies to teach the kids how to do mosaic art projects for the next decade! I'm beyond impressed by their generosity and community spirit. I tried to give them a donation or pay at least $20 but they absolutely refused to take any compensation. The location is easy to find and the store itself is large and clean and looked like they had every kind of tile made; from the huge slabs to the tiny, gorgeous hand-painted kind. Bought a lot of tile from them for home remodeling project. When I was buying it the sales man Francisco told me: "just buy extra, you can ALWAYS return it"! I trusted him and at the end of my remodeling had just about 3 boxes left extra from many boxes I bought. Now days it takes long time to get any work get done, way more than 30 days. Plus, no one in the store tried to emphasize return has to be within 30 days. At the end they would have take tile or glue or metal moldings back. All new and unused. All in original condition. None of that material goes bad with time!!! It's not tomatoes or butter. They are dishonest people. Do not give them any business. Better go to big stores with better service and honest employees. There are a lot better places and much cheaper too as I unfortunately found out now. Ps. Did not even wanted to give me store credit or let me speak to the owner! Terrible service. I showed looking for tile and found one we liked. They gave us a sample and we later returned to purchase the tile. It was only through order so we had to pay upfront and the tile would come in a week later. I then get a call the day that the tile was supposed to arrive and they informed me that it was discontinued and to pass by to get my refund. I show up the next day and was told by the sales representative "Why didn't you tell me it was discontinued?" Then proceeded to tell me that they couldn't give me my refund in the form I had originally paid them in and that I would have to go back a second time to get my refund. This is very unprofessional and would advise others to stay away. read more

We were shocked when quoted one price in person for backsplash tile and then once we had our GC call to proceeded with the order, we were told another price per square foot. When I called the sales rep and asked he honor the price we were quoted, he said no and to find it somewhere else. Yeah, I would have to agree with others who have posted here. If you're looking for a tile place with a lot of options and you just want to "grab and go" then this is the place for you. It looks like it caters a lot to house flippers and has quite a bit of tile in their open warehouse. This place looks like an overstock shop and is really no different than any of the thousands of tile shops on Sherman Way in NOHO. The reason I'm giving this two stars is because there is NO customer service. Front desk was empty when I arrived and no one asked if I needed any help until 15 mins later...and the place was pretty empty. When I finally was asked if I needed help, I inquired about a line of tile and was told, "Oh, they discontinued that earlier this year" which was odd since they just put out more patterns this year. I said something to that effect and he said I was mistaken. If that wasn't enough, their sign on the front door seems pretty foreboding which basically states if you don't have your invoice or pickup number, you're screwed. read more

When my contractor suggested this tile warehouse, I became hesitate when I saw the reviews about this location. Of all the tile warehouses in NOHO, why this place?? So I went with great hesitation. I am here to say that I was pleasantly surprised. They have a massive selection and here are some tips that I wish someone had shared with me: * The 1st room you enter has all the tile that is on special order; the 2nd room is a large warehouse with the tile samples and boxes right there for you (similar to Home Depot). The special orders usually take 2 days for them to get, whereas the 2nd room has the tile there for you to take immediately. The prices were similar in both rooms. * They have tile made from the USA; China, Malta, Italy, Spain. A variety of countries and styles. * Parking was easy and plentiful I was assisted by Abel and he was great. It was busy for a Friday afternoon, but he always checked back with me when I had questions. They had some tile that Home Depot carries as well and he was honest in letting me know that HD prices can't be beat so even though they carry the same tiles, your best deal is just to get them from HD. I appreciate that honestly. I got my tile for my bathroom remodel and spent more than I thought I was going to but that was because of my tile selection. Rio Marble literally has tiles for all price ranges. I am giving it only 4 stars because they still do paperwork by hand which I think is a waste of time and would highly recommend the owners move to a more modern payment system. read more

Spent a lot of time looking for a good tile store for our home tiling projects until a friend recommended Rio. Really good selection and prices. The first project we did was a small back splash and we had imported river rock mesh tile squares - special order, so we had to wait a while for them to arrive, but they worked (and look) lovely. When the time came to do a second project, this time I knew where to go. We were just doing plain 12"x12" terra cotta pavers for an office floor, but it was hard to find the ones we wanted at places like Home Depot. Rio definitely had a great selection, and we were able to pick out the ones we wanted for a very reasonable price. What's more, they (Martin in particular) remembered us from just our backsplash project and treated us like important clients--even though neither of our projects (and thus purchases) were very big at all. Really nice to be treated like a valued customer, especially in a big city like LA. They definitely have my loyalty and I will go back for future tiling needs! read more

As others have noted, the customer service was poor. They weren't very busy, but Jorge seemed too busy to really answer my questions etc. then, I needed the quartz countertops by a very specific date as I had my contractor lined up to install them. Jorge assured me they would be ready by that date so I ordered / paid in full. I'll never do that again. They were not ready on the day promised and it delayed my project. When I contacted him he didn't apologize or seem sorry at all. He had my money and was done with it. I will not go back nor will I use them again or refer them. It's a shame because I buy / sell a lot of properties. ‍ I gave them 2 stars because they do have a large warehouse etc. Go to other places where you will get better, more honest service. read more

I have gone to Rio a few times now and have never been disappointed. The prices they have here are pretty competitive so definitely stop by here before making your big purchase. They are definitely worth checking out and can help find what you are looking for. Just ask. I have gotten floor tiles here and most recently quartz counters for our kitchen renovation and island. I just now got home from a visit at Rio Tile. I picked out a tile and had a few questions. I approached the front desk (4 or 5 guys all talking to each other). It sounded like they were getting yelled at by their boss (in Spanish, so no idea what was being discussed) but they REFUSED to speak to me -- even acknowledge me. I literally held up the tile and raised my voice ("HELLO - I HAVE A QUESTION") and they wouldn't even look at me. Was super odd. I put down the tile and walked out. The 25 minute drive was a total waste of time. read more

I have spent a lot of money over the years at Rio. When a problem arises, the owner Sharon is unresponsive and the salespeople are not helpful. They don't care that they messed up and are not willing to go out of their way to fix a bad situation. There are many tile stores, and everyone has the same product. Remodeling our bathroom, and after going to THOUSANDS of tile stores (according to the kids - it's actually more like 10 or 15), Rio turned out to be our savior. We found the stone tiles we wanted for the shower wall, and Abel had them shipped and ready for pick up a few days later. We actually ordered some other tile there too, but since we were there on a Saturday, we couldn't find the availability. Monday morning I received a call from Abel letting me know they wouldn't be available for almost 2 months, and he handled the refund for those tiles without question. The prices here aren't much more than you'd pay at a big box store like Lowes, and the quality is SO much better. They have a great showroom with a huge selection to look at. I definitely recommend Rio, and will return when we start our next project. read more

I came into this shop because I was next door at the beautiful Stone Mart. I ordered tile. They are not computerized so they have to search through the piles of handwritten invoices to match them your receipt to pick up. If you forget the receipt it's an ordeal, I needed to reorder. Again he had to search through the pile to find the original invoice. The tiles are beautiful. When we picked up a second order because we were short, they broke box of tile . 2 tiles were chipped but salvageable. We needed 1 box plus 2 tiles. George did give a sample, also not perfect. They charged us for the chipped pieces we took. The tiler is coming to finish tomorrow so we will make it work. Who charges for chipped tiles that their diver dropped, that was already a day late because there was a problem with the truck. Unbelievable. Buy your tile someplace else. read more

I looked at many places before buying my tile at Rio. The service, the amount of tile to choose from, the quality, the price, etc was great!

We were shopping marble tiles for our entire downstairs floor and master bathroom. We are not first time buyer of marble tiles but we are not expert either so I asked some questions about the varieties of marble and price range etc. One of the staff at the store who was assisting us were really rude: He cut me off more than once and didn't let me finish my questions and totally ignored my questions. So I kept silent and let him finish his speech first. Next time, when he cut me off again, I reminded him that I have questions for him. Again, he ignored me and continued with his speech...So we couldn't figure out a way to communicate with him and instead decided to walk out. He said rudely to us: I won't walk you out!! read more

Unlike most of the tile stores located on Sherman Way, you walk in and this place is friendly and accommodating. No snobs here. Lots of stock and selection. I ordered some travertine for my master bathroom and walk in closet. My bad that I just gave dimensions and didn't calculate the sf. Anyway long story short I had to order another 100 sf and was told by Able that it would be there in 2 days. It wasn't, I was put on hold forever and finally after 4 days I went in after work. They said the tile didn't make it on the truck but it would be in at 8:00 a.m. It was a pain to get my travertine. I had to reschedule my tile guy and take allot of time off (without pay) I guess I wasn't a big enough order to get respect. Way to much hassle and drama. They have good prices but too much B.S. read more

In 2009 I purchased and had Rio install a granite kitchen counter top, with travertine tile backsplash. One year later I decided to use the same tile on my fireplace facade. It was to be a do it yourself project. I purchased the tile and thinset adhesive. I had a half bag at home so I decided to use that first. It turned out to be the wrong product. I called Rio and they said I should have purchased the ready ixed thinset. I brought the bag back with the receipt. The bag had a small tear on the top when I tore it by accident removing it out of my car. When I produced my receipt for the tile and thinset they refused to return it because of the tear even though I taped it, and it was the next day. They were rude and refused the return. When I reminded them of my kitchen remodel that they were involved in they did not appear to care. Only because a friend told me of a similar experience that I decided to write this review. read more
