On average I found it was at least half of what Sierra wanted to charge me. The need: Last winter I had gotten several quotes for replacing my aging furnace and adding AC. Most of the quotes were in the $14k range, with one quote dropping down to the $8k range. These were all homewise quotes (seems to be standard) I just wasn't ready at the time, since I needed my electrical panel replaced. The Draw: Saw the "$20,000? No way." ad on Facebook. Saw other ads saying, "Get it online just by answering a few questions!" Problem is you never get an instant quote. Instead you get someone calling your number in the next few days. I figured it'd be in range of the other quotes. I told the ladies on the phone what I would be looking to pay. Pulling the wool: Well besides no "instant online quote" someone was dispatched to my house. They were pleasant enough, but they kept trying to gaslight me. It's not easy to gaslight me. I know what these things cost from my day career in IT and Facilities work. I've had to get this type of equipment installed several times. I know the approximate cost of materials, labor, and what it *should* cost. The unexpected: Despite all of this expertise the guy sent to my house presented me with an offensively bad quote. They wanted to tear out all of my duct work, replacing it with flex duct. (Just last year it was camera inspected and I was shown it was fine) to the tune of $5,000. The Condenser, air handler, and furnace was $13k (as shown in the quote screenshot) The Gaslighting: This is where things too a big turn. I plainly told him, "We are not at the same place here, I'll have to pass" and I would expect at least some level of negotiation. "Well, I can drop the price to X" Instead it was "It's only $250 a month!" with no explanation of the terms/number of payments. $250@mo for 52 months? $250@mo until the balance is paid? My wife and I both have credit scores in the 800's. We're very good with our finances. "I had a guy quote me $8k last year" was passed off as impossible. No, it's not impossible in the dead of winter when AC installers are starved for work. Dear Reader, just google these components: 1-3 Ton 14.3 SEER2 R-32 single stage condenser unit-Goodman GLXS4BA3610 1-3 Ton 14.3 SEER2 R-32 upflow/horizontal evaporator coil-Aspen DE36D4D175R530 1-80% 60,000 BTU Up flow/horizontal single stage Low Nox gas furnace-Goodman GR9S800604BX Add up the price. It's not $13k. I also question the expertise here, as Low Nox is no longer acceptable for installs. BAAQMB has mandated Ultra Low Nox. Bad price, gaslighting, unnecessary work, and lacked knowledge of local regulations. I dodged a bullet. **Edit** Shortly after this review I got a call from Sierra, arguing over my review. I just hung up, then got a harassing text stating this was over "feelings" before blocking the number. The gist of my experience is there was expectations that were setup by the ads that were not met by the prices, expertise, or lack of professionalism.

The installation was good but... 1. A remote control was placed between a light switch and the door. You need to turn on the light before you use the remote, preferably w/o scraping your knuckles. 2. A pile of trash was left behind. I forgave that since the three men worked hard for more than 8 hours. 3. After they did wiring in my attic, insulation started falling through the kitchen ceiling vent. I pointed it out and the installer vacuumed the vent from below. I said it would be better to blow it, but he said it would be fine. It continues to fall down thru the vent. 4. Old HVAC vents were blocked to keep the warm air in and cold air out, but they left a big one in the old HVAC closet. Also, they capped the gas pipe inside the closet, so there are two holes to the outside. I could have made the closet look finished if they had capped the pipe below the house. 5. The way they inserted the cable ducts through the foundation air vent was poor. Rodents can now enter. 6. Poor oversight and communication. I wanted easy things corrected that would take 20min. "Mark" promised someone would get back to me...they never did. I called/texted about 5 times. Finally he stopped responding. UPDATE: The Yelp review prompted a call from Mark. He asked the foreman Zach to call me and address the problems. Zach called, said someone was in my area and would be by within 30 min. No one showed. No one called or texted. I will take a start off for poor oversight.

They sent Thomas out to take a look, he was very up front about the condition of the unit and advised that there was alot of issues, which we totally get. He was very thorough and took a lot of reference photos and explained what he was doing. We agreed to look at getting a new system and set up a meeting with Kyle for later the afternoon. Kyle was also amazing and went over the pricing and options, you never want to pay for a new AC unit but it's a necessity here so and they made sure we had a great deal. Long overdue review for James and his Team!…read more I had hired them a few years back based on their reputation and excellent Yelp reviews for a furnace installation & ducting in my own home and they did an awesome job. Great communication, workmanship, and efficiency. They were first to come to mind again when I recently needed another old furnace replaced in a commercial tenant's space. Time was of the essence and James accommodated us into his busy winter schedule within two days. Since the furnace was very old and ducting was from another era, James communicated right away all of the potential issues. His team even stayed late to complete the install in the same visit so the tenant could have warm air right away. Any unusual or other issues that arose during the install, James communicated and had resolved as soon as possible to ensure client satisfaction. I am very picky when it comes to professional building techs, but would give 10 stars to Ocean Air if I could. My only disappointment is that they do not have a plumbing, electrical, or general building maintenance arm of their business!
