Definitely check out this spot! Not only is it pretty, but the prices for bottles and tastings are almost too good to be true! Tasting fee is waived with bottle purchase. For three tastings and a bottle we paid 16 dollars before tip which is the best price we've gotten in Lodi thus far. It's also a beautiful property with very instagram-able spots. Our favorites were the under the sea Malbec and the albarino. Honestly, all were great it was hard to pick which bottle we wanted to take home. Will be coming back and recommending to our friends! We stopped by this winery during the Wine & Chocolate Event, Feb. 13 & 14, 2016. I have to be honest and say that I didn't care too much for their wines, as they were a little too light for me, but my husband liked them, so it's all just personal preference. I did like their Port though, and it was reasonably priced at $20. While the wines were worth 3 stars in my opinion, I'm giving this winery 4 stars because of their friendly service and the s'mores that we got to make around their fire pit! It was a very cool experience and fun thing for them to offer at their winery! I would possibly stop by again for their Port. The winery is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. read more

My bf and I stopped at this winery booth at the Galt Farmers Market. The staff were really nice while maintaining social distance and sanitary procedures (I'm big on this during COVID-19). The wine tasting was $5 to taste 5 wines (great deal). All of the wines were good. We loved the port and wanted to purchase so we'll have to come back and get it. This place is adorable! We loved it and the wine is great! My mom ended up joining the club. It has a little covered outdoor patio area and grass. Since COVID started, no events right now, but they told us they have had live bands! I can't wait for that to happen again. The sommeliers were kind and knowledgeable! I moved to Manteca 2 years ago and Discovered Lodi wines! This is one of our faves now! Zinfandel vines decorate and create boundaries, and ask about the flying pig reference! Ripken has one of the best Ports I have tasted in the Lodi region. Their winery is on the west side of Lodi, closer to 5 than 99. The tasting room is quaint with no windows, but the focus here really is the wine. Most of the varietals are Portuguese, which makes for an awesome traditional Port, but may be a bit of a change for those used to the traditional French styles. The winery has a bit of a hippie vibe to it, but it really works. It is located in the actual vineyards for a more classic experience. The building looks pretty old, so these guys have been around for a while. It is worth a stop while exploring the area. I will definitely return to buy more of that delicious Port. read more

So amusingly, we were here because I'd been specifically recommended it as a lover of port. For 5 dollars, we got to try several dry wines (all good, nothing exceptional), and 3 different ports, which, ironically, I wasn't super impressed by any of them (they were all *good*, but none of them were exceptional for the price.) That said, they also had a late harvest viognier that wasn't on their tasting menu, but we convinced them to let us try it anyway - and it was *gorgeous*. So obviously we had to buy a bottle of it (especially since they also waive the 5$ if you buy a bottle). Strongly recommend popping in and seeing if they still have it, if you're a fan of late harvests. read more

We made a point to stop here because they have port and we really like ports. We fell in love with the 2008 Vintage Port and took a bottle home with us (prices are extremely reasonable too!). Discovered Ripken Winery during the Wine & Chocolate tasting. Enjoyed their wines, specifically the Late Harvest Viognier. Love the aesthetics of the winery including the mural on the entrance wall. S'mores were the snack of the day and plenty of people took advantage of the bonfires to roast the mellows. I wanted to give 4 stars but the tasting pours were very scant compared to the other wineries. Also, perhaps it was just that particular day but, the hospitality was less than stellar. I want to give Ripken another try this February 2019. I hope to update my observations in this review. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they gain a star. read more

I had a pretty funny moment here for the Chocolate and Wine Festival. I was trying to buy a bottle of wine because I thought it was $10. I didn't realize it was $18 unless you buy a case. So at first they told me that if I were to buy a case that the wines would be $10 less so I wasn't interested. Then they said if I buy half a case they would give me wine bottles for $10 each. So I was suckered into it since I was already buzzed. It was pretty funny. They also offered smores but the weather sucked so we just took the bag with the Graham cracker and marshmallow without firing it up :( Overall, it's a decent winery but I think there are better wineries (see my Vino Con Brio review) in Lodi. read more

We came here on a Saturday afternoon and the winery was not crowded, we received great service from two really nice ladies and tried 5 wines plus their port. They have a nice patio area and it is surrounded by vineyards. Their varietals were different than the other wineries we visited that day so if you are looking for unique wines, I would recommend. read more

I love this winery! I just became a member here last time I was up in Lodi. My first wine club membership - this could be a problem. :) But really this place is great. It's a small winery but I like it. It makes it intimate. All the girls that have helped me each time have been very friendly and they have a great selection on their tasting menu. There slogan of no boring wines is great for this place. I have really liked basically every wine here and especially their one dessert wine, its something special. I've heard they have remodeled their wine tasting room and I will look forward to checking that out next time I can make it up there. Late post - 1st time at Ripken (2/18) and had a great tasting. We had an awesome young man help us. ( I wrote down his name and lost my paper :( Sorry guy! You were so good I should have remembered your name! ) He was extremely knowledgeable of the wines and the wineries history. Went to this Winery with a wedding group for the weekend. The wine was wonderful and the wine maker was very pleasant along with the people hosting our tasting. BUT and a big BUT......Upon entering the winery our group was greeted by incredibly hostel Hostess (I think the wine makers daughter). "Hospitality Business"...says who? She was rude and treated my friends with the utmost disrespect. Although her point was valid her delivery sucked and was down right awful. She was the reason we did not buy any wine from the winery and the reason we have been recommending to others to not visit the winery. We went wine tasting here a few weeks ago and were not impressed. We purchased a bottle of their Malbec to give it a chancee, and when we opened it today we poured it out because it tasted terrible. Lodi is full of great wineries, this is just not one of them. read more

Cute little family run winery. Very nice staff and we got some great deals on some wine, including $60 cases of some really great 2005 Petit Sirah they were trying to move. That's pizza wine pricing. They also make their own olive oil which is really good, probably the tastiest olive oil I have ever had. It's free to taste two wines, but blow out and go for the $5 tasting...they let us taste pretty much as much as we wanted, especially since it looked like we would buy (and we did!). We shared one so we wouldn't be drunkypants. Somebody said it wasn't good for kids, but there is a nice outdoor area and when my daughter mentioned she was bored, one of the staff got out some chalk for her to decorate the sidewalk with so they were definitely welcoming! read more

I liked their Viognier, not sure if I didn't like the rest because they weren't my cup of tea or because I was wined out. However, 3D Candies was here with some amazing jalapeño caramel. The best thing about the caramel was that it's soft enough to not stick to my teeth! read more

I had a great experience at Ripken this weekend. The weather was really nice out so they had their tasting bar setup outside. They don't have your average wine varietals that you'd typically find in Lodi or Napa. It was a nice change to taste varietals that aren't to common. My first introduction to Ripken Winery on Valentines' Day was a driveway full of chalked hearts and couples lining it with more. It was already "SM + RW" and I hadn't even tasted the wine! I meandered through their barnlike winery, enjoying their solids wines and grade school take on Valentine's Day. All the wines were excellent but the most worthy of phrase were the Port and the Petit Syrah. The port was a classic Portuguese port with a smoothness and compexity that easily pushed it onto my top 5 ports list. Spread out amidst the wines was an arts n craft table and la a marshmallow roasting station. Smores and petit syrah: best before noon meal ever! I fully applaud Ripkens whimsical take on VDay and their wine. I'd give them 4.5 stars if I could but I have to hold out the last star to keep the wineries with more fantastical wines in perspective (D'art, Prager, V Sattui) read more

They serve outside whenever weather permits, and they have a lovely patio. The inside is typical wine tasting. Ripken specializes in more spanish varietals like Grenache and Tempranillo, and they have some interesting blends. They've always been very friendly. One of my regular stops in Lodi. read more

Great experience last weekend when we visited Ripken during the Giro d' Vino cycling tour. Tasty wines, friendly people helping at the winery, and some great deals. Tasted a number of Tempranillo and Petite Sirah during the day, but the ones from Ripken topped the list. Better yet, the staff were outstanding. They really wanted to share their wines and find new customers; at least one other winery acted like all the business was more of a hassle. At Ripken the winery provided some towels for the groups of soaked cyclists on a long, rainy Sunday. Will definitely return! read more

Checked this place out during the Wine & Chocolate weekend and had a great time. We were first greeted by a young woman who was one of their winemakers. She told us of the different tasting stations and if you wanted s'mores grab a bag and roast the marshmallows at the end of the first station. They had a dolcetto wine (I cannot remember the name of it for the life of me) that had a nice kick at to it, a really distinct flavor at the end that just lingers at the back of your tongue. Sorry I'm new to wine tasting so I don't know the correct way to describe it. At the first tasting station a man taught us how to do the Voignier cheer which was like a YMCA cheer. Nothing like a red wine and s'mores. Afterwards we went inside the actual tasting room and tried their tempranillo. For my taste, that was STRONG wine. The next station got me very excited, because they served sangria made with their own Sangiovese Rosato. Sangria is my kryptonite and they were more than happy to share their recipe by posting it on a barrel! The staff was extremely friendly and even took the time to explain how the different types of wines were made. Can't wait to check this winery again when we're back town. read more

I would not even give this place one star!! Please rethink before visiting this location - the WORST in Lodi. The hostess is a rude person - who has no business skills. We were there for wine tasting with a group of 25 and we all felt the same way. This female has issues and gives the place a bad vibe.
