I'll start with the positives. 2 dozen raw oysters were delicious and very reasonably priced. The open air patio seating was really pleasant with the ocean view and breeze. The service was good. Now for the reason for the low rating. Everything else was terribly dried out and overcooked. The potato chips tasted only of stale burnt grease. The shrimp in the shrimp tacos were crispy black balls that tasted nothing like shrimp. The fish in the fish tacos was dry and tasteless. The server did take one of the entrees off the bill- fair enough I guess. Maybe the kitchen was just having a bad day. But you'd be safest ordering off the raw bar menu or one of the salads. Very touristy spot but the location is great! It was too cold for the rooftop so we sat in the ocean view dining room, but the windows were too cloudy to see the ocean. Service wasn't great - I was hoping to return my cocktail for something else but she never returned to ask if we enjoyed them. Shrimp po'boy came out without sauce of any kind, and it took her another 10 minutes to come back by so I could ask for some. Recommend the lobster rolls for sure! read more

Second time coming to RipTydz! The ocean view is one of the many perks from this restaurant. We started off with calamari that came with cheese and some peppers (it was flavorful + crispy), and decided to try the smoked Gouda chicken egg rolls! (THEY WERE A HITTTT) the chipotle aioli really pairs well with the dish. The only miss was the lemonade it really tasted like more water then anything... My family is local to Surfside beach just right down the road so we have been coming here since they first opened. This place used to be so good and we were always excited to bring our guests to dine here until last night. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait so we decided to go upstairs to the bar to wait. The bartender was extremely rude when we asked why they take your card and ID now upon ordering. She stated it was because people walk out without paying, we explained we were local and asked to speak to a manager about the policy change and she started to argue which caused frustration from us. Some random man came up, told us he wasn't a manager but asked what the problem was and was rude to us yet again saying too many people walk out on checks and then turned his back to us. The Manhattan we ordered was absolute garbage btw. When you ask for a table they send you a text that shows you how many people are in line in front of you for a table with the estimated wait time. We were told 45 minutes but yet there were 33 people in line before us. After seeing that i went to the host on the bar level asking how long their wait was and she said she could seat us within 25 minutes on the deck, so we did that instead. When I got the call our table was ready I approached the host stand and told her my name and she goes "didn't we just seat you?" I said uhh no?? So someone made a mistake and sat someone at our table and another host said she would just seat us anyway. Our server was nice, the food was decent. Not as good as it used to be. They give you a 4% service charge for paying with a card to "keep their prices as low as possible". They also didn't cancel our table request on the main level so I got a call an hour and 20 minutes later that our table was ready. read more

Hello we had Emily over the weekend. She's amazing and provided excellent service and bathing our experience was memorable. She goes above and beyond way more then she's probably asked. Also I remember her telling me her birthday was Friday which is today !!!! The food was also phenomenal and the food runners were super kind. The host also killed it. We stopped here on our last day in Myrtle Beach for lunch and it was by far the best meal of our trip. My husband and I both had some fruity frozen cocktails that were just right for lunch on the beach. We shared the fried calamari. It was SO tender and the sauce was delicious. I then had The Mediterranean salad with blackened shrimp and my husband had the seafood boil. Both were fresh and tasty. We had our two boys with us (3 and 10 months). Our baby ate his weight in shrimp, while our 3 year old (who had already eaten) had a virgin strawberry daiquiri that came in a fun shark souvenir cup. They also had these fun wax sticks instead of crayons that he is still playing with! If we're ever back in Myrtle Beach, we'll definitely stop here again. Our experience at RipTydz was unfortunately unsatisfactory. We sat in the second floor dining room and our server quickly got our drink order out, and each tasted great. We put in our entree order along with some side salads. That's sadly when the experience turned. We waited almost an hour without seeing our server or receiving food before our server came and asked if we wanted more drinks, which is when we inquired about our food. The server said he'd check on it. After 10 more minutes the 2 Caesar salads arrived, and then the entrees not 5 minutes after that. I got the shrimp tacos (delicious) and a side of mac&cheese (very bland, tasted less cheesy than the grits). While eating we ordered 3 more drinks, but only 2 made it to the table. Our group hopes our experience was out of the ordinary because, while we enjoyed the location and atmosphere, the quality of food and service was disappointing, especially after the long wait. read more

I was excited to get my group to try some new place for dinner during our stay, I mean having a routine on vacation makes it feel like you're home right? Unfortunately this vist was only for drinks since there was an hour wait for a table. I wished we could've gotten in at a table there was a great moon and I was looking forward to the views. This was recommended by the concierge where we are staying. We got to the restaurant and found that they have complimentary valet. This is always a bonus. Went inside and we were told there's an hour wait. So we checked in and went to the bar. Drinks were decent but the service was very slow. We spent about 20 minutes or so watching the staff. There were several Empty Tables that the hostess was not seating people at. My assumption is they did not have enough wait staff to cover all the tables. The roasted Turkey BLT was delicious and I've never in my life had blueberry Mayo but it left us mark on me and since then I've started making my own blueberry Mayo. Sucky experience today. First when we walked in the hosts were crouched down (I assume on they're phones) and not enthusiastic to greet anyone. At our table I couldn't decide what I wanted more a lobster roll or to order a shrimp cocktail because it came with seaweed salad which is my fav ever. So I ordered both.. cocktail came out on a plate with mostly just water not much ice left but the real kicker was NO SEAWEED SALAD. then the server, KERRY S, looked at me like I was dumb when I said something about it not having seaweed salad (bc a shrimp cocktail doesn't normally come with that ovbi) but clearly on THEIR menu it does. She took it off after double checking that I was right. Told her thank you. Next crappy part is we ask for our checks later (mind you there's 7 of us) and the girl puts it all on one check without asking how we were paying.. so we asked her if she could split it up. WHERE SHE REPLIED "Y'all didn't say that you were separate i'm not a mind reader". I kindly asked her again if she could split it up and she said "I mean it'll be a pain in my butt" and walked off without the ticket. So our friends wrote down what we each got bc God forbid she have to do her job. She added 15% herself on top of our regular totals on all of our bills which only pissed me off more bc I will tip you what you earned and deserve. Hence on the tip spot I tipped her exactly what she earned and deserved which was a big fat $0.00 with peace love and happiness symbols on the bottom bc Lord knows she needs to find some if she's gonna be a server and wanna get paid. I'm literally 22 and i'm a very easy going person I only ever come on here to write about the crappy experiences I have, so you can only imagine how bad her attitude was to be a server. Also forgot to add.. The lobster roll probably had 4 oz of meat on them in plain hot dog buns with overfly fried "chips" for 20.99. Worst meal I ever had in Myrtle. Ordered Jambalaya... the sausage was burnt, dry and tough. They used probably about 10-times too much seasoning, which made the meal impossible to eat. Server named Kerry came over and recommended the lobster roll and a drink I can't recall thr name of. She promply brought over a water followed by that drink. The drink was good, a little sweet.
