Very instagrammable brunch spot. Their menu is absolutely insane lol, crazy concoctions like pancake sushi, tin can pierogis, and over the top drinks. Fun atmosphere, service could be a little better but its a busy place. Be prepared to put your name on the waitlist and wait 3+ hours on weekends. The food is honestly pretty good overall, I've had a few different dishes and none were a disappointment. People def come here for the drinks, and while extravagant, they don't taste super high in alcohol content, and they are literally the same price as entrees. The drink flights come in EXTREMELY tiny jars, not worth it at all. You're better off getting a boozy milkshake or specialty cocktail in my opinion. It's nearly impossible to get a table here with the complicated wait list situation, and they never answer the phone. It's very very expensive, and the food and drinks are not the tastiest. There are some unique menu items, but taste is always average. It's a very nice looking place, and the food is always picture perfect, but it's so busy and rushed in there you can't really enjoy a relaxing meal. What a happy mistake. I've heard about all the amazing ways the owner of rise and shine has given back to the community, but until now, I've never had the chance to eat there. I say happy mistake because we made other plans, but that fell through, so we ended up at rise and shine. We had a short wait, so we walked around the cute Westcott area. Then we received a text that our table was ready. Our waitress Carlie help us navigate the fantastic menu. Carlie was terrific, our coffee cups were never empty, and she ensured our boys got "special" straws. The Bloody Mary was crazy good and big. Tricky to explain, but the picture should help. There is a literal DJ and the majority of the clientele is in their early 20's. I think I am pretty hip so I sat my 40 something year old self at the bar and chatted up the college students. My wife and I headed over to Rise N Shine after a 6:00am Lights on the Lake 5k run. Needless to say to say, we were a bit chilled and hungry! After the race we quickly got into our car because we know there could be a wait getting seated at the dinner. When we arrived we saw that there were many tables available. We were created my a gentleman and was told to sit were we liked. We picked a comfy booth overlooking Westcott Street. Our booth and overall restaurant was clean. We waited for an amount of time that you start asking yourself "do they know we haven't been asked out drink order". A waitress did come over a few minutes later to ask for our drink order and to remind us that they do not have menus and we can scan the bar code on the table (did not work) or check their website (which we did). My wife ordered a hot coffee that came rather quickly. I ordered the French Press French Toast Latte. This sounded amazing to me! It had Chocolate, Hazelnut & French Toast blended with milk & a double shot of espresso. I was so excited to try it! Problem was it took over 10-15 minutes to receive it. During this time the waitress did apologize and mentioned that this drink started in the kitchen (I'm assuming because they create the French toast stick that is place on top) and they could be backed up. I really needed some caffeine so I did politely asked the waitress for some coffee. About a minute after I removed the coffee I received the latte. The latte itself was fantastic! Fantastic flavors and a plus of dipping the French toast stick into the latte was delicious! I ordered the Pork Belly Benedict. Two Poached Eggs on a Croissant with Crispy Pork Belly, Frizzled Onions and Gochujang Sauce. I loved it. The pork belly and a nice crisp yet a "good" fatty meat texture. The eggs had a nice run to them when you cut them open, a fresh croissant underneath, and the Gochujang sauce complimented the entree and was not to overpowering . My wife ordered the Westcott California Benny. This had two Poached Eggs, Fried Green Tomatoes, Red Tomatoes, and Sliced Avocado. Served on a Croissant. The fried green tomatoes and fresh sliced avocado were the stars of this dish! We also ordered a side of their "signature" Home Fries. Their menu says, Crispy Potatoes Seasoned with a Secret One-of-a-Kind Spice. Honestly they were really good but nothing shouted out "secret one-of-kind when we ate it. The one area I was a bit bummed about was the service. The waitress was kind but we just never saw her once we got our meal. Never checked on us. Didn't replenish coffee or waters. I do highly recommend stopping by and checking out Rise N Shines unique and fun menu though. The food was delicious I just hope that the attentiveness of the waitstaff was only a one time thing. It is a must stop for any food lover, as it has visual, flavor, beautiful culinary design and an immense variety of some of the best breakfast dishes out there. The brisket was absolutely out of this world, which a perfectly cooked over over a corn muffin top with a slightly spicy sauce, that blended perfectly with the sweet corn flavor. I wish I had taken a picture of this perfectly designed plate, but as soon as I saw it, I forgot about it and just went right to the place, it was delicious. Service was absolutely amazing as well, we had 2-3 people always taking care of us and when you saw them pass by with other people's food, you would cringe and say to yourself, "why did I not order that one", because every plate looked absolutely glorious. The plates are also very large in size, so be prepared in the morning and possibly skip lunch too, because they are very generous with their portions. We also loved the drinks, especially the Hot Chocolate, which could be combined with your favorite cereals or my daughter's favorite the French Toast Hot Chocolate. My wife loved her Apple Mimosa and we all just had a great time. There is plenty of parking outdoors and on the street, but you need to call ahead of time and put your name on the list, the day you decide to go, as they do not take reservations, but they will take your name ahead of time. We called at 7:00AM and got a table at 8:45AM, so wake up early to get your name on that list. At 9:00AM, they were already at 4:00PM, because this place is this good! It was a Saturday and we were prepared for a long wait so called at 10 and said it would be a 3 hour wait, which was fine. Left around 12:30 to arrive for the time-spot. We sat outside right by a heater and had amazing service from our waitress. She was attentive and even made sure that there was a sparkler in my husband's pancakes since it was his birthday. My friend got the chicken and waffles and the chicken tenders were super crispy (also dry and overcooked), but not awful and the waffles were good. I got the pancake flight and the peanut butter ones were the best, the strawberry cream and the birthday cake ones were lacking in flavor and the top pancake was basically the only flavored one. Enjoyable overall andI would definitely order something else next time. The french toast latte was yummy and surprisingly not insanely crazy sweet. We had to ask a second time for our waters, they were very busy back there making drinks but it was probably 10 minutes before we even asked for the waters because we wanted to wait it out. We then waited another while before asking for our omelets...I would say over 20 minutes. That seems like quite a bit for a couple omelets. The girl that took our order asked another person to go check on it for us. They went back and it came up shortly after, kind of as if it was just forgotten about. Unfortunately, the kitchen messed up my omelet. They put turkey sausage instead of turkey bacon. They took it back and remade it, meaning more of a wait for me. All and all, by that time I wasn't even hungry anymore. I won't be in a rush to come back until all the kinks are all ironed out. I know their other location is a Syracuse staple. It's such a cute place with a cool menu. I want to try out their super awesome looking (and photo worthy) drinks, just didn't have the time our appetite this time. Also, I think that it's good to note that prices on the menu are based on if you plan to pay in cash. If you are paying by card plan on adding 3.75% to your total. Most places that give you an incentive when you pay with cash don't put the discount "cash only price" as the actual price on the menu like that because in reality a lot of people do usually pay by card - they usually discount off the menu price if anything if you're paying by their preferred method. We literally stumbled upon this place in search of food elsewhere. What a great accident! First of all, there was Live Music at the Rise N Shine Diner! AND, it was terrific. I was a wee bit crestfallen when I saw they had No Beer on their menu. We settled for two Bloody Marys which were A-OK. We ordered the Breakfast Mac and Cheese and the Chicken and Waffles. Both were exceptional! Bravo for the lovely gravy and syrup combination that makes the chicken and waffles nigh perfect. Sigh. The breakfast mac and cheese includes yummy hashbrowns also-- this is such comfort food. One of the other great things here was the live music! I should have taken a pic of the flyer on the door, sorry. A really great singer-songwriter sang and played music for us!
