Menu is filled with options which made it hard to pick what to order which is an awesome "problem" to have, we all ordered breakfast and were not disappointed! I decided on the pancake/french toast flight and picked three flavors. I chose Cannoli French Toast, Reese's Pieces pancakes, and the loaded pancakes for a savory item. Cannoli was my favorite but they were all good, loaded even has an egg on top however you like it!Portion size is huge and everything tasted great!!!! They had a good challenge listed on the menu but none of us were up to the challenge! Service is amazing, and they even have a waitress warming up coffee, which I highly appreciate at places. The diner is busy but it was not too loud to hear your party and everything ran so smooth. All the servers were nice and seemed happy to work there! Menu price was shown using your card, they had a cash discount available if using cash which is a nice option! I wish I took pictures or everyone else's food but didn't. The drink options seemed amazing with make your own flights or their specials. The next time I am in the Syracuse area I will be going here to try more! A solid meal with very good service. Went in today (Monday of Memorial Day Weekend) and although it was quite busy we were seated quickly and our food arrived in a very reasonable amount of time. Our server was super nice and cheerful. I ordered the waffle breakfast sandwich and matcha and felt both fell flat. I love matcha but I really try and only drink ceremonial grade. It was my mistake that I didn't ask before I ordered. This matcha was premixed and came out looking a slightly greenish off white rather than a rich grassy color. I didn't dock points for the matcha though because a ton of places don't do this drink well. My sandwich was good enough but it overall lacked flavor. The eggs were under seasoned and I wish the waffle was crispy versus soggy. It also didn't have much bacon on it. The home fries were excellent though. Perfect color and seasoning, no notes. Everyone else in my party really enjoyed their meals and I'm sure we will be back. Packed and I put us on the waitlist. I was told 20-25 minutes. We waited for a bit at tge front and then returned to the vehicle. Twenty five minutes passed and we went inside to be told five more minutes. In total, we waited 45 minutes before we were seated. Becca, our server was friendly and turned around the extended wait. Beverages were delivered first, hot cocoa for me and coffee for he. I ordered the two two two and he a grilled cheese with tots. We divided brunch breakfast for me and lunch for he.I continue to hear about the extended wait as a couple who arrived after we waited in the vehicle parked next to us and were seated right after us. Upon walking in we were greeted to a friendly environment. Restaurant was packed and we literally were seated in 5 minutes. Waitress greeted us within minutes with menus and waters. Menu was extensive as well as daily specials. Of course I had to get the crab cake Benedict!! Perfection. My daughters ordered the pancake flight and a nice sized omelette. Such a gem of a diner! There are so many options that you could come back dozens of times and always have something new to try. Some items are pricier, but you definitely get a good sized portion on the meals. Our wait staff was friendly, and though it was a busy Saturday morning we were in and out quickly! I haven't been here in years since their old location. I am not a fan of the diner across town in the Westcott neighborhood so I was excited to give this one a try at their new location. The service here was friendly and serving sizes proportional. We appreciate that they focus on flavor not just appearance. The lemon blueberry pancake special was delicious and a great choice. I'm glad I finally got to try this well-known diner. Even for lunch on a Wednesday, it was very busy! They have a large menu with a variety of options. You can also order breakfast all day. I went with the Monte Cristo sandwich and tater tots. The sandwich was a good blend of breakfast and lunch and the tots were crispy, just the way I like them. I definitely recommend going during the week if you can, as they can get very busy on the weekends. Prices are a little high, but everything is going up now. Second Chance diner is always a hit when we have company. The unique dishes and drinks are something friends and family love. Personally have tried a number of thier dishes, but my current favorite is thier shrimp and grits. Normally, I am not a huge grits fan, but they do a really good job with this dish and I definitely reccomend it. They have fun community events, the servers and staff are a pleasure. The big things holding this restaurant back from a 5 star for me is just that it is way too crowded, which in some ways is good for them of course, but the problem to me is the seating is pushed very close to other tables. Both times I have gone to thier new location I have felt like I am eating breakfast with the family next to me. The end of my table was maybe a foot and a half away from the next. The past location had some tables that had a bit more breathing room. Additionally, they have weird policies with calling ahead/reservations. With how popular the location is I feel like it would be better to take reservations and call aheads all the time instead of having customers crowd thier entryways for 45min-1hr waiting to get in. Sometimes they do allow call ahead (on your way driving there) but it is not consistent. I go back and forth on a 3 and 4 star due to this​, but settle on a 4 just as the food is delicious and there is always takeout. read more

Never again. Service was less than acceptable, food was mediocre and management has the absolute nerve to suggest a minimum 25 percent tip for service. Nope!! Service we received wasn't worth 10%. Server was surly when questioned about a menu item, if she cracked a smile it was on the sole of her shoes - absolutely miserable. WOW!! We will never go back. I got there pretty early so it wasn't crowded at all. I liked how there were different rooms and instead of a typical diner counter, you could sit at the bar. It took a few minutes for the waitress to arrive but I was ready with my order. I got 2 Eggs, 2 Pancakes and a Ham Steak. The eggs were perfectly over easy and the ham was nicely grilled. The pancakes had a very good flavor and it was nice that all the condiments including the syrup were already on the table. I have been to the Second Chance several times. This latest experience has me shaking my head as to how far they have fallen. A simple order was placed; a vegetable omelette with home fries and a yogurt parfait. The grease that oozed out of my omelette and onto the plate with the first forkful was unacceptable. On top of that, what they called home fries, were commercial frozen-seasoned potato cubes that they deep fried in the style of Denny's. The overbearing flavor of the seasoning mixed with deep fryer oil flavor just made them inedible. No cheese was a good call. The eggs & veggies in the omelette were already saturated with enough oil to make Jiffy Lube proud. And at $13.99, I was reminded why I usually make breakfast at home, and usually for $2 or less. The yogurt parfait wasn't without its faults, either. It had good tasting berries and flavorful yogurt. What killed it here was the granola. It tasted like Nature Valley. Plus, it's served in a tall mug that is next to impossible to mix the parfait without getting it on the table. Parfait + veggie omelette with potatoes & toast + 2 cups of bottomless (weak) coffee = $37.00 before the tip. The Second Chance is moving on July 23. If they don't tighten up quality, it might be their last chance. read more

We pop in here now and then because we've moved a little further out of the way, but, no matter how busy the restaurant is, we always have incredible service. I love that you can get lunch breakfast here. I opted for the grilled cheese which was a nice butter bite of gooey, cheesy, sour dough goodness. The ranch also pairs perfectly with the crispy, seasoned fries! The benny was runny, saucy, and delicious. Their home fries are awesome too! My daughter and son brought me for Mother's Day brunch. My daughter made a call ahead and table was ready in just under two hours. I arrived at 1230 and we were seated with no additional wait time. Service was good despite being a very busy holiday. My daughter and I enjoyed the fun flight of mimosas, some so over the top you are drinking dessert! I think 4 stars is the most appropriate rating to give Second Chance Diner. It's usually crowded after 9AM, so I suggest getting there before then if you don't want to wait. It's cute inside, very clean. The bar is nice and they were playing A Nightmare Before Christmas on the television. Service was friendly and attentive and the food arrived not long after ordering it. I thought the prices were great, especially compared to other local breakfast/brunch spots. The food was good, but I don't think it was anything to brag about it, but for what it was, it was good. We had the pancakes, bacon/eggs/potato's and a Belgian waffle. It was about what you'd expect for a good breakfast. Nothing special, just good quality food. We stopped on Saturday mid morning and usual crowded with a 20 min wait. They definitely need a bigger place because hands-down they have a large variety n best eggs Bennie's in town! The coffee is good except I still like real half-and-half over Coffeemate, but you can't have everything . Excellent staff who all seem to help each other serving customers. Seven of us went to your diner today, mid morning, mid week and I was very disappointed. To start off we were met with a not at all friendly gentleman to seat us. Next we were greeted with a not very friendly waitress. She immediately told us we could not have separate checks. We insisted we wanted them but she said it is the policy to have one check. I wish we would have left right then but we stuck it out. We had mixed opinions on the quality of the food we ordered, mine was mediocre . The quantity was fine. We had to call and ask the waitress for a coffee warm up and to refill our water glasses. When we received our bill I understand why the restaurant insisted on one bill and also why the servers were not very attentive to us as there was a 20% tip required added to our bill. My guess is they do not have to give us very good service as they already knew they were going to get the 20 % that was mandated. This will be my last time dining at your place. Your restaurant cannot even hold a candle to Stella's. Discussing how we felt about the experience is that it is so much better to eat and converse in a place that makes a feeling of welcome. read more

A great find after an overnight in Syracuse. My husband and I came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Despite a very full parking lot, we were seated right away. The menu is bursting with a great variety of creative breakfast items! I ordered the veggie frittata and added bacon. The 3 egg size was $10.99 and the 6 egg size was $11.99. You don't have to be an economics expert to realize what the best option is. My husband ordered shrimp and grits. Our food came quickly and we both enjoyed our choices. My husband would have preferred his egg cooked a little softer and the only thing I would have changed with my frittata is to cook the veggies a bit more prior to adding them in to eliminate some of the wateriness. Great little spot - hit it up on the drive home from a wedding to the airport. We were lucky to get a booth - we arrived before 8:30am on a Sunday and the place was already boppin. Large menu of classic breakfast/lunch diner items and then some fun takes on classics. We stayed simple with a two egg plate and then a steak and eggs with loaded home fries. This was my first time visiting Second Chance Diner. It is located where the old Friendly's used to be in Camillus. I met a friend early Saturday morning and it was already packed. My friend had input a reservation and wait time was about 15-20minutes until we were seated. The waitress was kind and certainly busy. I ordered the southern and the sausage gravy was jam packed with flavor. I am still dreaming about. The portions are a decent size that could really feed two. The service was lovely, me and my mother we're told a 20-25 and we only ended up waiting 4 minutes, our sever was a kind young lady she had us seated quickly, though leaving was a bit slow but I am taking into account that it is a Sunday during the time of this review. But that said, there was only a couple of minor things that were subpa was that my mother's food was a bit cold however it was juicy and she ate it all anyway, and that our soda's were a bit weak in flavor because of a lack of syrup. however, I ordered a coffee instead and it was the perfect temperature and my food was hot and correct besides the sausage being links instead of pattys.
