Is this what cheap pizza tastes like? I know it's no Giorgio's Pizza which is authentic & XLNT, and in spite of the huge slices, there's not much flavor here. Thin crust, very mild (bland) red sauce, lots of cheese... but the taste was very plain. Like cheap pizza. ‍ Online prices less expensive than counter prices. Had I ordered online, my L pizza would only have cost as much as a Med in store . Counter employee had no reason why. I like the size of the slices but that does not make up for flavor. I've been in the pizza mood lately and wanted to try a new place. I decided to order a pizza from King Kong Pizza. They are located in the Meridian Park Plaza and have plenty of parking available out front. I placed my order online and then went to pick it up. I ordered a medium combination pizza with no bell peppers on just half of the pizza. I walked in and noticed how large it was inside. They had a lot of tables inside. So you can eat your pizza there or take it home. The chairs were on top of the tables when I got there, which was strange. It's afternoon and I'd think they'd have the chairs ready for customers to use. I went to the counter and gave my name. The employee confirmed the type of pizza I ordered with my specifications. She went back to the kitchen to see if it was done. She came back with my pizza and handed it to me. She thanked me and I left for home. The pizza was heavy in that box for a medium. It was piping hot when I got home. It was excellent. There were a ton of toppings and I especially liked the quality and taste of their meat toppings. The bell peppers were only on half the pizza, just as I requested. The crust was just right. Not too thick and not too thin. I really loved it. I would definitely order this again. This is the second location I have been and it is set apart since it actually is a sit down restaurant. I have been to another location where it is only takeout. Our order came out super fast and the cashier was super friendly. I did notice a lot of people coming in to pick up orders rather than dining in. Very clean and high spacious ceilings. I've ordered from these guys several times through the Slice app. They use their own delivery drivers, so the app does essentially nothing. They also take no responsibility for screwups, so they're just getting a fee for nothing. That all being said, the pizza is meh. I'm a NYer, born and raised in NYC. This is NOT NY pizza by any stretch of the imagination. But it's been better than a bunch of other local places that are truly terrible. On the chance that I can hopefully get a crisp crust I always choose the 'well done' option when I order. I then add 'extra well done' into the special instructions section. It doesn't help and is almost always ignored. Tonight I also got the crap delivery as well. There is an option to leave the food at the door, which I chose, and a section for delivery instructions in addition to that, which I used. The driver didn't bother to read any of it and I had to find him where he was wandering over to the side of my house, to get the food from him. Then it turns out he didn't bring the whole order. The 'deal' I ordered came with a 2 liter bottle of soda, which was missing. I then get a text saying they're out of what I ordered and asking which one of 2 other choices would I like? I said no since I won't drink either of them, and then got a text from the driver that he'd just dropped off one of those in front of my door. As I said earlier, I've ordered from these guys several times. Each time it's been delivered almost to not at all on time, and never well done. This took it to a new low and I won't be ordering from them again. I'll keep a Boboli in the freezer which will take less time, cost less, and turn out much better. My work had King King Pizza from the other San Jose location near Winchester and it was awesome! The Meridian location isn't as generous with toppings and closes early. The KING KONG PIZZA isn't cheap so I was dissappointed x2 with Meridian. I wont go back to that location but I will go to Winchester. Both times the topping were scant. read more

I often resort to frozen pizzas at home but decided to give this place a try instead. I got a combo pizza and a chicken pesto in medium sizes. I liked that there wasn't too much cheese and that the pesto sauce didn't make the pizza overly oily. The combo pizza had a good balance of toppings. I ordered delivery and it came nicely packaged. You can buy pizza by the slice or order 2 flavors on one pizza. The menu is straight forward and they offer other options outside of pizzas like calzones, salads and sandwiches. The pizza wasn't overly saucy nor salty. The bad: The crust was just okay to me but perhaps it was due to delivery. The interesting: My toddler thought the combo pizza was spicy (maybe the sausage?). Lots of places serve whole pizzas but it's rare to find pizza by the slice in San Jose - at least from what i've seen and this place serves by the slice! 1 really big slice or 2 regular slices ended up costing around $7 but I got the toppings of my choice and it was a really great slice. Hot melty cheese, jalapeños, olives, and mushrooms all on a crispy crust. Yay for a new pizza joint in the neighborhood! Was pleasantly surprised with my order of a half margherita and half chicken supreme pizza the other day. Called in to order and they told me it'd be ready in 15 minutes and it was! The chicken supreme was my choice and I really liked it, though I would say their chicken and veggies are super chunky and not cut finely. The margherita was okay, but too many tomatoes for me and not enough garlic. However, the dough was super soft yet chewy, and the pizza was not salty at all. The cheese was super good and felt they used really great ingredients but keeping the pizza low cost. Curious how the slices of pizza works as I did not see any in the store. read more

For those who remember they used to have a location right by the Capitol Automall but after a fire hit that tiny plaza, all the businesses there closed up. Their King Kong signature size is a whopping 24 INCHES...yes, that's a lot of pizza. We always grab this for game days and it's perfect amount of pizza for 6-8 people (depending on how hungry how people are and how much people have been drinking haha). Never skimpy on the toppings; you get plenty in every bite. We usually opt for the combo or the chicken supreme (white sauce). They also sell by the "slice" for around $8 total. A slice here is equivalent to about 2 "King Kong" sized slices. So it's actually a lot of pizza! Pro-tip if you are picking up the King Kong...clear out your trunk to transport it home. Don't underestimate how big a 24 inch pizza pie is....it likely won't fit in your front seat! read more

If you ruin the most simple slice, then I can't "Trust the Crust". This time around I ordered a Slice of Cheese. They're slices are about "Costco Size" and they cut them into two pieces. The body of the Pizza is thin, typical NY style pizza, cooked crispy underneath borderline charred, but not too bad. Not much sauce, but a decent amount of cheese(no cheese pull). The crust was lacking a bit of girth, but all around a decent slice! It would've been a little bit tastier with a lil side of Ranch, but didn't drop the 75 cents they were asking on it.
