    Tacos al pastor

First of all, the Agua Fresca is free. They have two options, Jamaica and Limade. You can ask for one or the other or for both, they'll bring the putchers to your table. I like doing half and half. The Carne asada is nothing special to write home about, they're ok. The alambre con queso tacos are messy but delicious, it's a little hard to distinguish where one taco ends and the other one starts. The gringas are just quesadillad with meat, I recommend the Pastor one. The pickled onion are amazing and so are the salsas, I recommend the orange one for spice and taste. Each order comes with eight tacos for around $9-$11depending on the meat. Service is friendly and the vibe is family oriented, I'll definitely be back for more.

I was on the trail and the time was already 5pm so I looked for tacos and they were the closest from the trail, and their review was really high so I decided to give it a try. When I walked in it's already packed which was a good sign, and luckily there was one table available and I sat there. I ordered Jamaica and 4 asada tacos, and I got all the condiments while they cook. Onions, limes, cucumbers, cilantros, and 3 kinds of salsas. As soon as I got tacos, I put asada on my tortilla, as well as cilantro, onion and salsa. I poured the red salsa A LOT on my first tacos and omg, soooo good! The asada was juicy and tender, full of umami to it! Then all the sudden, the red salsa kicked in, and I could not stop breathing weird and drinking Jamaica! Because I was soo in trouble with the hotness the ladies laughed at me and say "drink more water!" and I was like "I'm trying!" I tried all the other salsas but I still added a little bit of the red salsa on all the tacos so at the end, I was almost crying because of it, it was too hot and good! I couldn't stop because everything was too good. I will definitely come back soon.

I enjoyed these tacos fairly inexpensive. Menu has gone through some changes so check it out. Everyday the tacos are buy one get one free only on the order of tacos. Excludes the cambo of soda, and backed potatoes. Ask before you order because it is only certain meats for the offer. Tripitas are new and you can have them made to your liking. I liked that the salsa bar includes cebollitas that are marinaded. You can decide whether your tacos have cheese or not. Place is fairly clean and the service is fairly quick. It is a busy place I must say finding parking can be tricky. I will definitely return.

Good service, clean and great value for your buck! 3 starts because I was expecting more flavor in the meat. They could be better seasoned!

This place is a gem! You can tell the food was AMAZING by noticing I had no desire to take pictures of the food. This happens because after having one bite of their tacos al pastor, I had no desire to pull out my phone. This place is small, a bit dingy, and very run down. This is not a place you go to critique the ambiance, building or decor. My brother in law recommended this place to us for fast and cheap tacos. It is located in central El Paso, but completely worth an hour and a half drive. The menu is small but that is all you need. IF you sit down to eat they will give you FREE aguas frescas (lemonade or jamaica). They have spectacular salsas for every palate. I will DEFINITELY recommend this place to any one who wants to taste mouth watering fresh street tacos.

This is what you get for $9

Not much of a fan , when it come down to it the flavor is okay and the portions are small for the price , i hope they can improve with time . Also customer service wasn't the best not the friendliest of people that work there

So delicious! Tacos Alambres and Al Pastor at Tragones on Piedras.

We were looking for an inexpensive late lunch and Taqueria Guadalajara was closed. So I looked up reviews on Yelp and found Los Tragones. They have an advertised special; street tacos for two people, 4 tacos each, for 6.99. One can choose Alambré (which is beef cooked with bacon, bell pepper, onion)or Al Pastor (which is pork, slow cooked on a rotating spit.) The waitress was nice enough to let us try a half and half order and we split a baked potato, which came with a huge gob of margarine (yuck,) which we immediately discarded, replaced with some fiery aguacate salsa and a good dose of cilantro. The potatoes with the green sauce were sooo delicious! The taco meat was perfectly seasoned and I liked the flavor of the medium red chili sauce that I chose. I also added some chopped Cucumber, onions that had been pickled in lime juice with oregano and dried Chile, and more cilantro. The crunch and freshness of the cucumber was an especially nice contrast to the slightly greasy and salty goodness of the Al Pastor. For under ten dollars you would be hard pressed to find a more delicious meal for two people. I ate a little bit too much! We will definitely be repeat customers!

It's okay, but the quality has gone down. Maybe it was a one off? I'll still give it a chance when I come visit again.

While the food was never the primary…read morereason I returned, the excellent margaritas and outstanding service kept me coming back for nearly two decades. Unfortunately, that loyalty came to an end after a recent experience that was both disappointing and unacceptable. My family and I chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Every guest paid separately, and there were no issues during the evening itself. However, as the event concluded, multiple attendees, including family members and in-laws, overheard servers making derogatory comments about our party. Among the remarks were that we were "ungrateful," "cheap," and "broke," along with other inappropriate comments that no customer should ever have to hear. I brought the matter to the attention of ownership, hoping for a meaningful resolution. While I was told the employees had been reprimanded, the proposed remedy was a $25 gift card. After nearly 18 years of patronage, the response felt dismissive and only added insult to injury. What disappoints me most is not simply the behavior of the staff, but the lack of accountability and concern shown afterward. This was a place I once considered a reliable and welcoming destination for family gatherings and celebrations. Sadly, that trust has been lost. As a result, I will no longer be returning or recommending this establishment to friends, family, or colleagues. Respect for customers should be a fundamental part of any hospitality business, and in this case, that standard was not met.

The food arrived within about 10 minutes for our group of six, which was impressive. The complimentary fried tortillas were very good, and the salsa was enjoyable as well. I ordered al pastor tacos. The flavor was good, but the meat was very dry. I liked the portion size, especially the amount of meat, but it would have been excellent if it were not so dry.

About 8 large chile toreados, grilled onions.and plenty of corn tortillas. The charro beans were mostly bean soup. I actually poured some of the bean soup into a bowl so we could serve ourselves to avoid some spilling. The baked potatoes were generously bathed in butter. They did not provide any other toppings for the potatoes. Personally I think some sour cream, or Mexican crema de la Mesa, some chives, some other toppings would have been nice. The queso fundido was good but also a disappointment. It was missing the chorizo that I had paid extra for. The meat was very good. Well done but not dry or hard to chew. I was pleased to see that the chicken was not cooked into dryness. We did come across a couple of meat grisel or what in Spanish is called "nervio". This place has a small sign that states that if you pay with a credit card a 3% service charge will be added to your bill. I am pretty good with math and I pointed out to the cashier that they actually charge 4%. He did make a correction on my bill. Be ware of your bill. Otherwise they do give you plenty of food. It reminds me of a Mexican parrillada/ grilled cook out. The food here was very good, good tasting, and in spite of the small glitches worth it. We will be returning again.

Looking back, El Cometa is what started my taco obsession. Their tacos al pastor con queso are so good. The marinated pork is perfectly seasoned, a little greasy in the best way, and topped with melted cheese. One thing I love is their salsa bar. I always grab the red salsa, green salsa, and guacamole. I pile all three on my tacos, and every bite is amazing. Their tacos remind me of my favorite tacos at the resort my family visited every summer in Cancún. Even though it has been years since I have been there, El Cometa brings those memories back with every bite. The staff is incredible. Last summer, the hostess recognized me right away and seated me immediately. She even remembered my order. I order the exact same thing every visit: tacos and two cans of Sprite. The fact that she has been there since I first started coming in 2019 makes every visit feel like coming home. From 2019 until I moved away in 2022, I went there almost every week.
