Finally made it here, Wood brick oven cooked pizza is amazing. I will be back again, now I need to try their pastry and breakfast. Customer service was super helpful, showed up an hour before they closed. Not a lot of seating inside but they have picnic tables outside . Every thing was fresh

This place has been highly recommended to us by a few friends for pizza and pastries for a while. We were running weekend errands in Norfolk and decided this very cold, pre-snow day was the day. When we arrived, at around 3pm, they had NO pastries left at all aside from 3 chocolate chip cookies, ha! We ordered a pizza to eat there and my husband chose cheese, sausage and bacon as the toppings. Pizza was ready pretty quickly, made to order and cooked in their visible wood-fired pizza oven in the back, and was delish! My 20-month old daughter loved it as did my pizza connoisseur husband. It's cute inside, bare bones with about 3-4 tables and a small and simple menu. They offer breakfast sandwiches only in the AM and tons of pastries and a bunch of pizzas and make your own pizzas. Bathrooms were bare but well-kept and clean. It's off a nondescript road away from busy traffic, so, blink and you miss it, but cute as can be and nice, laid-back vibes inside. In a cooler with other drinks for purchase were nice, cold canned waters complimentary. My daughter enjoyed walking around exploring and snacking on her pizza. Impressed with this first visit and want to come back to try some of their famous pastries.

The Bakehouse at Chelsea is a super cute bakery in the Ghent neighborhood that we highly recommend. Our favorite item was the jalapeño cheddar danish. The staff was kind and helpful when it came to choosing pastries, and it was neat to see the open kitchen. Street parking only, but there's seating both inside and outside.

We stopped in recently and I was really excited because I've had this place on my list of places to visit for sooo long but we were never able to go till now. When we walked in it was really quiet and slightly awkward. But we were able to pick out a few items that were still available. We didn't stick around to try them though. It just wasn't giving that kind of vibe. Maybe because they were busy earlier and were finally getting some down time but it didn't really give a warm welcoming feeling. The food was delicious though. I recommend the blueberry pop tart hand pie while it's available!

    Lots of good for you!

The delicious smell of baked pizza and pastries permeate the air as you enter. Staff was friendly serving their baked goods with a smile and asking if there's anything else other than the pepper jelly peach danish that I ordered. The danish was delicious! I'd come back for their pizza next time!

On bestie weekend this was our second bakery stop (thank goodness The Chrysler was opening soon as we surely would have hit every bakery in Norfolk) and upon selecting a dine in treat and take outs for the man, we sat down for a quiet snack on. It did not stay quiet for long. The goods are so good that even the cold, pelting rain couldn't keep the citizens away. Our dine in treat was what I thought was a simple coffee cake. It was not simple but it sure was good. Alot of crunch on top, but not enough cinnamon to turn you off. The cake was a moist compliment to the topping. As we snacked I could smell something baking in the oven and it smelled like bread. I gave bestie a blow by blow of what happening in the kitchen til I finally told her we weren't leaving til I found out what it was: focaccia bread!! I asked the young lady how long before it was ready and she gave me the food news of only 11 minutes. I immediately stopped dining on my coffee cake so I would have room for it. My husband spent 3 years in Italy courtesy of the government and almost every morning I would get up at 4 to walk our Rottie. My reward for leaving our 4th floor walk up was fresh focaccia. While the focaccia here wasn't like what you would get in Italy, it was delicious too. We chose to get ours brushed with butter and parmesan. Bestie, hubby and I ate on it for 2 days! It was big and tasty! The other 2 bakery items I brought home were the almond croissant (OMG good!! Do NOT pass it up) that looked incongruous amongst all the other pretty pastries but was so sweet, airy and perfect. I wish I had bought more of those. The other was the Pan Au Raisan roll. This thing was so good I bet even my raisan hater hubby would have eaten it. This is one of the things I dislike about living in the country. Then again, if we lived in Norfolk I'd be bigger than our house out here in the country!

I have been wanting to try this place out for a while and I'm glad I finally got to today. The bakery is so cute and there are many delicious treats and breads to choose from. I got 2 of the Almond croissants and 2 of the Honey Lavender scones, and a loaf of sourdough bread. I ordered a Margerita pizza to go. The pizza was so delicious. I will definitely be back in to get one of their baguettes and focaccia bread.

Great spot for a quick lunch. Delicious food and friendly staff. Love the atmosphere. Parking can be a challenge durning peak hours. Check out Vessel Craft Coffee next door too.

Bakehouse pastries are a favorite in our house. And the foccaccia bread... so delish!! Always such a friendly staff as well.

The gem of all gems! This place is amazing. Everything is fresh and delicious whether it's a pizza or baked goods. The servers are kind and welcoming. I like how you can watch them assemble everything and you can get a glimpse of how they operate.

This place had the worst pizza I've had in my entire life. The pizza was covered in sugar.

Can you just buy a loaf of bread here?

Absolutely. Price depends on variety, usually ranging from $4-$7. Get the chocolate bread to make French toast...so good.

The slices are HUGE! I couldn't believe how big they were. Our two teenagers split a single slice and were perfectly happy. One thing to note is they don't have ice if you like ice for your soda, but we were able to get some next door. We're in town for a conference and loved finding a great local pizza spot within easy walking distance of our hotel. Fast, delicious, and a fun local find. We'd definitely come back the next time we're in Norfolk!

The slices here are HUGE--like, you need two plates just to hold one. It's super filling and definitely worth the price (usually around $5 for a cheese slice, a little more for toppings). I'm not normally a thin crust person, but their thin crust is actually really good. The cheese is flavorful, the crust has a great texture, and even a plain slice hits. That said, I'd definitely recommend trying one of their specialty slices too. The shop itself is pretty small with limited seating, so it's more of a grab-and-go spot. During lunch rush, it can get packed, but service is usually quick and the staff has always been friendly in my experience. They also have extras like Parmesan and peppers so you can dress up your slice however you like. Overall, if you're in downtown Norfolk and want a solid, no-frills pizza spot with massive slices, this is definitely the place to go.

Elation Brewing has a huge indoor and outdoor area with plenty of different styles of seating! It is family and pet friendly, and they have fire pits for cooler days/nights. I love that the inside still has huge open windows to allow that fresh cross breeze in. They are known for their pizza, but they also have a variety of other things to eat on their menu. There is also a number of different beers, seltzers, IPAs, and wines to try. Tonight I had the White Cranberry Sangria from Water's Edge Winery (also in Norfolk) and the Downeast Black Cherry! While both were really good, I prefer the Downeast because it was sparkling and just more refreshing. We also had the bacon Gouda pizza and the Hive pizza with hot honey. Both were great! I had never had a hot honey pizza but would definitely get it again! Tonight was trivia night and they had a good size crowd come out. I like that you could actually hear the questions despite so many people. A lot of times I can barely hear! Also inside the same place is Voyager Coffee. They're only open 7-4. I would love to give them a try. Oh and Elation does offer military discount but only on their to-go beers! The ONLY reason I did not give Elation five star is because I wish they had actual servers. You have to go up to the counter to order each time, and the lines get pretty long. Being able to order from the table, even if from a QR code where you could order and pay online would be a plus. Lastly, for such a large space, the parking lot is tiny. You'd either have to find street parking or there is additional parking at the CEO building on Colley.

It's the kind of place that works for almost any occasion, whether you're hanging out with a big group, grabbing a drink solo, or meeting up for a casual date. There are lots of different seating options, which makes the space feel flexible and comfortable. They also host live music and trivia on certain nights, which adds to the overall vibe. I went on a Sunday around 6:30pm. It wasn't crowded, but there was still a good crowd if that makes sense. It felt lively without being packed. Their drink selection is great. They have plenty of beer options, but also serve wine, seltzers, cider, and non alcoholic drinks, which I really appreciate since I'm not much of a beer person. I ordered the frozen rosé slushie in wild raspberry and it was strong. I also had the black cherry fruited cider, which was delicious. For food, I ordered The Hive pizza and it was excellent. The crust was thin-ish and tasted homemade, and the ingredients were clearly high quality. No complaints at all. Service was friendly and efficient, and the bathrooms were very clean. Random detail, but the toilet paper was noticeably better quality than what you usually find in bars. It was not plush, but strong and not paper thin. Overall, I loved the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, and the service. I will definitely be back.
