Hubby and I went here for the first time today and we were blown away by the food! Not only did it look good, but it tasted great! It's definitely not your run of the mill selection of items or food prep. I had the Rival breakfast sandwich and hubby had the Carnitas Stack; both were SUPERB! Service was friendly and with a smile and quite fast. No wait for 15 or 20 minutes like others that shall remain nameless. The space has a nice vibe and is large enough for groups to get together. My Americano did not disappoint and my hubby enjoyed his regular drip with an added shot. Please don't sleep on their amazing cookies! TL;DR: Great place for coffee but the app for their rewards program is kind of clunky. I've been here a handful of times already and I've become a fan of their coffee. I think there's always a nice balance of the coffee and their syrups, which I like. I'm looking forward to trying more of their drinks and food items. Staff has been nice and they're always quick to serve the drinks as well, though I've typically been here at around 6 or 7 in the morning when there's no one really there. The only issue that I have is the app for their rewards program. I don't know if it's just me, but for some reason, my app is always clunky and will sometimes take forever to load. When I downloaded it from the app store, I couldn't even open it and a pop up would say that something went wrong and to try again later. This happened on several occasions. Finally, I was able to open it and actually sign up, but I still have the same issues where sometimes the app won't even open. I think it's great that there's a rewards program here, but I do find it frustrating that it's kind of clunky and not as refined as I wish it was. I'm hoping that in the future they can really invest in the app and rework it so that's it's more useable and doesn't take forever to load. read more

I came to the area to visit a buddy of mine who moved here from LA's south bay. We decided to get some food and coffee nearby, and he recommended we come to this place. Upon entering, I was intrigued at how big this place is. It has a large floor space, and offers a wide variety of options. I was a bit famished, so I ordered a double cheeseburger. To drink, I got some water and a cold brew. My buddy ordered the same burger, and got an iced tea on the side. My burger was decent, and the cold brew was smooth but packing the caffeine boost I needed. For dessert, I got a pastry which consisted of grain bread, topped with one scoop of ice cream and blueberries. The dessert was actually prepped decently, tasting sweet but not overly so. Overall, the food here hit the spot well. The staff was friendly, and they gave good recommendations. The indoor seating is plentiful, and there is some outside seating as well. Parking is pretty abundant, so no problem there. This was a nice spot to get food and coffee in Murietta. Rival Coffee is aptly named because duhhh... you know that other coffee shop we all know and love?! Yeah, I love it too, but this place definitely One Ups it!! You'll find it tucked in behind Murrieta Mesa High School. It's a really weird location next to a Holiday Inn Express. Once you find it, you're in for a treat!! I was confused trying to find the front entrance because currently they are under renovation. What will be the main dining room is in progress at the moment, but I have no doubt it will be spectacular when it's done! When I finally found the entrance, I went in to see a bright and open, airy space filled with college and high school students studying away. They are allowing inside dining in their lounge areas. Very chill and relaxing vibe. Would be perfect for a coffee date, hang out spot, quick meeting, or study sesh with buddies. The drive thru is adorable with the big letters spelling out "Have the best day" on your way out! On the other side of the wall, is a nice large patio. "Drink better coffee" and you will when you get here! Such a sweet spot to chill at! As I walked up to the counter I noticed they have a bar. YEP!! A BAR in a coffee shop, mannn!!! I am all for THAT!! When I ordered my Rocky Road Latte from Tanner, we schmoozed about how we both like peanut butter. I asked if he's tried my fave, Skrewball Whiskey and he said no... he's under age (oopsie)!! He did point out that they have it at the bar...which will bring me back here for another visit, lol. I got the vegan hash that satisfied and my fiancé got the rival breakfast sandwich. They had a big selection of coffees from those who just want a black coffee to specialty drink. Fiancé got a drip coffee and I got a lavender vanilla (so yummy!). You order at the register and they're super patient, considering the menu isn't available until you get to the register (of course it's online too but most coffee shops I go to have a big board or menu posted while you're in line); we had a few questions and the staff gave us some recommendations. They were sweet to let our dog in - I asked if we should sit outside since we had her but they asked if she's well-behaved, and we ended up sitting inside! After having a not so great experience last month, we came back to rival today and I'm happy to say that whatever issue the kitchen was having then has been resolved!
