Ordered the pan berry pancake....YUM!!! The vanilla sauce (served on side) is quite amazing! Just the right amount of strawberries and blueberries. Filling on the inside was a nice surprise to add more flavor. Hubby ordered the bacon breakfast burrito served with green salsa. Very hearty and tasty! Only suggestion would possibly use a flavored tortilla. Coffee ordered was the Butter Cookie Latte...hands down a favorite now! Will definitely be coming back! read more

While you're shredding pants you can enjoy views of garbage rustling in the wind. There's no trash cans outside. Why did we pick outside? Because the dining room we came to enjoy was closed by the waitress that said "it's easier on us to keep this closed." Wow, thank you lazy lady. So now we know the service here is above and beyond for the staff. Whatever is most convenient for them is what goes... for example not cleaning trash, or how they keep the doors to the patio locked so if you must journey around to the front door. I was in the area looking for a coffee shop to work out of. I was recommended to check this one out. Service was great, my cold brew with maple cream was delicious. I believe they make all their cremas in house. Lots of tables with power outlets for laptops/chargers/etc. Music isn't too loud but can cause people to speak bit louder. Thank you to the owner Ryan: I was hesitant to ask for a breakfast burrito to-go since they stop at 1PM and it was 1:03, but the owner talked to the kitchen and I was able to order one. I've been coming to rival since it opened, I've been a loyal customer for a long time, always loved it and brought friends and family here when in town but my past few visits, man I never thought I'd say this but have been disappointing. My drink was super milky, my fault I usually order an extra shot but I wanted to try a seasonal drink. So my coffee was blehh. And the service was also not what I used to experience coming here. I always got helpful recommendations and good energy from the baristas but the two that served us kind of seemed annoyed and rushed but weren't busy, but that could be my perception, not sure. But overall it just made this experience, one of my least favorite. Will I be back? Absolutely because I do love Rival so hopefully next visit is better than this one. read more

It's tucked away - look it up and go! They have lot's of seating...including a big patio where I was able to take my pup. I had the anaheim breakfast sandwich, friend had the avo toast. Super yummy. I don't eat bacon so got it on the side - friend and pup were loving it. But pigs are super smart and cool so .... I also got a maple brown sugar latte - I never get latte's but MAPLE, oh my goodness, that was soooo good. What else, yeah, I love supporting local non-corporate places. I have been wanting to check out this place for a while, as the menu was quite intriguing. So imagine my dismay when I walk in... I can't describe my 1st impression, but it felt as if the place was not yet complete. I almost turned around, as I thought it was closed. There was no visible menu displayed, the pastry display counter was completely empty and what looked to be a bar area was completely empty too. After realizing it was indeed open, I made my way over to the counter. There I found paper menus . So I proceed with placing my order and then decide to venture out to see what this place was about. It's a really large venue with so much potential, but it's clear they still need some work to complete the overall aesthetics. First of all..dirty trash cans should never be displayed in the dining area. And I'm not referring to it being filled with trash...I mean physically dirty on the exterior. Regrettably at this point, there was no turning back, I had already placed my order. I figured I would just give my food/drink an extra good prayer and hope for the best. Once my order was ready, I get called over to the pick up counter. Since my order was "to go", I presumed it would be bagged. Especially since there was no way I could carry all of it out without one. Unfortunately it was not and requesting one felt like a chore. The guy whom I asked seemed irritated that I was "interrupting" him from his conversation with a colleague. I honestly thought he was going to ignore me (as she had). If not for the lovely young lady who took my order, this review would be just one star. It's really sad that this fairly new establishment is already epically failing. Looked for coffee off the 15 that wasn't a St*rb*cks driving back to LA. Very huge and spacious place with an ample menu and outside seating. Now, it's a beautiful, sunny, 70 degree day ... and people are still choosing to sit inside without masks just having a time. Why not sit outside?! Also not a single mask for any staff member. Completely gross. I'm coming from LA with common sense regulations like wearing a mask when serving people, as we are still in a pandemic. Ok anyways: I ordered a drip coffee as usually that just gets poured right away so I didn't have to wait in this place and could get back on the road. All coffees are out in a queue which is fine except it's just a drip coffee so usually someone just pours it and you don't have to wait behind all the fancy lattes and whatever that take a lot of effort to do. Instead my drip coffee was in line behind lots of complicated drinks. While I was waiting a gentleman wearing a shirt that said "unmasked unmuzzled and unvaccinated " which, now that I knew where he stood on things, I didn't want to be in the vicinity of for an extra second. I have a feeling that shirt is not out of place here. Anyways it's a nice place, coffee was tasty though a long wait, but sit outside in the gorgeous fresh air instead of hanging out with unmasked folks! I just drove clear across the valley to try the new Temecula location. I ordered the Creme Brûlée iced coffee, The Anaheim, and of course a side of fries. Everything was prepared perfectly. Mediocre 8/10 for coffee 10/10 for food presentation 4/10 on taste and quality Lox Benedict $15: presentation was amazing. This dish is missing the arugula as stated on the menu. Potatoes was really cold. Hollandaise sauce was very sour. Toast had cinnamon, which definitely did not go with this dish. Poached egg was over cooked. How can you mess this up so badly? Pineapple upside down pancake $14+$4: very under cooked in the middle, it was raw. No whipped cream as stated. Only thing that was good about this was the Pineapple butter. Rival coffee, has done it! This is my new favorite spot for breakfast/brunch. I wasn't expecting the place to be aesthetically pleasing. The set up of this place makes you want to be there! The outside seating gives you a comfortable backyard feel. The coolest part of this place, is that it has so much seating and they serve alcohol! Lol! Food? The food is good. We thought it would be a typical coffee spot with light bites. But this place offers more than your average avocado and toast. They have pancakes, French toast, beni's, pastas, sandwiches and more! My boyfriend and I tried the breakfast pasta and breakfast burrito. The breakfast pasta is worth the $12! It's huge and filling. It also tasted really good. You can order it with sausage or bacon. It also comes with toast! We would definitely order that again. As for the breakfast burrito, it fills you up. But it didn't stand out (not that it's a bad thing). It's your typical breakfast burrito, so don't expect so much out of it! Would order it again if I was in the mood for it. However I'd order the pasta over this! Drinks?! They offer a lot of drinks. We decided to go with London Fog & Matcha Latte. The London fog I got it with lavender and oat milk. If you order it this way, it won't be as creamy. I wasn't a big fan of it, as it lacked more lavender flavor and it tasted like water. Not sure what oat milk brand they use. As for my boyfriend matcha latte, it's not that sweet. If you're expecting it to be sweet as Starbucks, it's not. We enjoyed his drink because we appreciate Matcha in all ways. We got Almond milk with it and vanilla syrup to sweeten it and it wasn't that sweet at all. Creaminess is perfectly right in between. Would we order this again? Yes, but probably in a smaller size. The only things that could use a fix would be the poached eggs. It wasn't poached at all. As for the burrito, I think it would have been better to offer the chipotle crema on the side with the salsa sauce. Would have been more enjoyable with the breakfast burrito. Service was good! Came for some good coffee and to study. Really liked how they have a lot of seating here! We came on a Saturday and got lucky to find a place with an outlet. Not sure if the other seats have as much outlets, but we enjoyed! Music is played a bit loud, so if that bothers you i would suggest bringing headphones. With a zillion coffee spots in Southern California, I'm so glad to have stumbled upon Rival Coffee! Disclaimer - I haven't actually tried their coffee but I stopped in this past weekend for breakfast and wasn't disappointed! My husband, our baby and I were headed on a short road trip and needed a quick breakfast so we consulted our trusty Yelp app and found Rival Coffee on the way. We arrived around 9am and it wasn't too busy yet, and ordered a few of the scramble bowls. My 20 month old can eat an adult's portion of food however in hindsight, now that I know how big these bowls are, the three of us could've managed with just two bowls. They're pretty hefty! The scramble bowls were chock-full of goodness - eggs, bacon (sausage for my husband), onion, tomatoes, spinach, and we all added avocado. At $8.50/each (plus another $1.50 for avocado), it was a pretty good deal, considering between the three bowls we had enough left over for lunch later. The only reason I took a star away is because my husband ordered an orange juice and it was just plain nasty. It had an effervescence to it, as well as an odd flavor that my husband noted tasted like it was going off. I'm not sure what kind of orange juice they use but it certainly isn't fresh-squeezed and most of it went into the trash. Also, they don't have any kids breakfast menu items, so I had to pay full price for my baby unless I wanted her to have a grilled cheese or pb&j. They have a wide variety of teas (hot or iced!) coffees, cold brews, and specialty items. They also have a wide variety of food items. Be cautious as some of the items are only available inside. I've tried multiple items like the maple brown sugar or watermelon cold brews to the orange ginger iced tea. All are great options for a pick me up and refreshing drink. The food is great! They have a drive thru if you're on the go as well. Bacon burrito is delicious with the salsa and got the watermelon sugar high energy drink which also tasted great. This was a delivery. I was so looking forward to their rival breakfast sandwich. Let's just say that it was a flavor bomb and not in a good way. It came in a nice brioche bun...with fried egg (got mine hard because I hate runny yolk), bacon, tomato spread/jam, garlic aioli, arugula, cheddar and I think provolone. The bacon was very sweet, or was it the tomato spread? Not enough arugula to counter the richness, couldn't taste the egg or the aioli. I like flavor bombs as much as anyone else but there was wayyyyy too much going on here. It needed a savory acidity to it because it was just so sweet for a breakfast sandwich. I DID NOT like the bacon at all! It didn't taste like bacon. And to make matters worse, I added their smashed avocado (what was I thinking because it made the sandwich slick), which by the way was the best part of the sandwich flavor wise. Some people might find the sandwich fabulous...I just like a good savory breakfast sandwich with different textures, balanced filling and flavors that compliment one another. I just didn't like this one. It was filling and generous proportions, but just not my cup o' tea. Like I said, others might love it. On the upside, their French fries are bomb...dipped in what looks like a very thin coating of batter and oh so crunchy! Loved them. And unless you are planning to share with three other people, I would suggest the small sized serving. Was enough for AT LEAST two people! I also had the hot Chai Latte with coconut milk and it was quite tasty and satisfying...very good. The only reason I gave it a 3 star was because I did not enjoy my sandwich but, I will try something else. I'd say give it a go. I have only tried one sandwich and it was delivered to Menifee from Murietta so, this is a first impression review. I will say the sandwich is probably a lot better fresh off the press rather than delivered from the next town over. Drive thru service was good when ordering but when I pulled up to the window the girl did not confirm my order or say hello. She told me my total, waited for my card to go thru and walked away. A few minutes later she handed me my food without saying a word and closed the window. Another minute goes by and she hands me my drink and also does not say a word. Maybe it's me, but I find that a little rude. This used to be one of my favorite places but after today I think I've finally decided this place is overrated. The photos here shows how the Baller BLT used to be vs the one I received today. The bacon definitely is not cooked the same and lacks flavor compared to my previous visits. Seeing the huge tomato was also very disappointing. Keep in mind this cost $13. My food ticket says the server is Shelby S, not sure if this is the person who made my food or the girl at the window.
