For food, they get an A-plus. Excellent. Everything was cooked great. Short Ribs, Salmon, Ocean Platter, Tuna all wonderful. Service mixed. Clearly, the staff is not happy and not trained. The first hostess tries to sit an 8-person party at a six-top and put two other people in the party at another table to eat with people we did not know??? Then when we suggested nicely that would not work the host was perplexed? Finally, we convinced her to ask someone else. We actually also offered to split our party in two and do some four tops. So it wasn't like we weren't being helpful on our end. And they were not crowded plenty of space on a Tuesday evening. They moved us to an eight top, but the server at that section was so busy. She was overwhelmed. Knew her stuff and was pretty good however at the end of the meal no suggestions of dessert or coffee? Finally, after we sign our checks we ask her if there is desert she rattles them off but doesn't ask if we want them again what? It is not lost on us that staff is hard to get. We were more than willing to be patient. They need training. The hostess was not friendly and 100% needs training to at least smile and be welcoming and know customers do not want to sit at a table with people they do not know. Actually, the whole staff felt like they didn't want customers. In a tourist area that is a no. It was so apparent that it was extremely uncomfortable. And we are an easy group we don't ask for substitutions and are a generally easy group. I had a decent experience here. I waited forever to get a table for my husband and I, and the restaurant was so crowded to the point I could not hear my husband speak. The server was super busy the entire time, so one of the assistants, Tommy, ended up really waiting our table for us. I'm excited to come back once the place is more established and ready to take customers, I can only imagine how difficult it is to open such a new large restaurant. read more

Seated quickly at 5:30! Upstairs ambiance and views were great. Bar service is top notch; with many creative drinks, but each was not so far off the beaten path you can't recognize the inspiration behind them. Food was first class!!! 8 plates in our group and everyone raved about their entrees. Steaks cooked exactly as ordered, fish not over cooked, sauces and sides a perfect fit. First off, this was me and my Fiancés 5 year anniversary. Sat down, got our drinks 15 minutes later. Appetizer came out 20 minutes after that, completely missing one of the main ingredients in the appetizer. Brought back ONLY the missing ingredient... not a full new appetizer. While ordering entrees, waitress recommended the Bone-in Filet (I originally asked for the original menu $42 Filet) and she didn't mention any price change. End of the meal the Bone-in Filet ended up being $90!!! Never once mentioned the $48 up charge for some Bone! Meals come out another 20 minutes later, one side order is completely wrong. Second round of drinks during entrees, brings wrong drink to my Fiancé (it was supposed to be the exact same as her first drink but she mistakenly brought out the drink I was drinking instead of what my Fiancé was having) Meanwhile, the waitress is running around like her head cut off because she wouldn't write down a single order or anything any of her tables around us said. We watched other tables wait well over 30 minutes for drinks from her. We even overheard her offer one of the tables who was waiting forever, a free drink for her long wait. The waitress was Bailey. Pretty place, good food, every single other thing was HORRIBLE. Worst service we have had in Saint Augustine in a very, very long time. We are not ones to dispute a bill so we just paid and left. This lasted from 5:30-7:45. If you open up a new, massive, very nice looking restaurant, you have to be able to pay more than most other restaurants around, and you clearly are not paying enough because you have nowhere near enough staff! Great atmosphere and the Calamari was good but that is where it ended. Fish tacos were awful- one grizzly bite and abandoned the rest. Lobster roll - with raw onions? zero flavor other than onion. Fried shrimp-had same funky taste as the fish in tacos-maybe old frying oil? French fries - inedible. Very nice server. Would not go back. read more

The service was prompt, drinks and most of the food yummy - but WOW. When I asked the server which was more popular, the filet or ribeye, the clear winner was the ribeye! The menu said "mkt price", and I believe the filet was @ $43. The ribeye was okay, served rare vs. medium rare, but I switched plates with my husband because he likes rare. What I was not prepared for was the $97 price tag for a steak! Shame on you for not insisting the server points this out when the order is placed. I know market price is always higher, but almost $100 for one ribeye? Of course that was the recommendation of the server! read more

We have heard from other people that it was a great place and the food was much better than RPs. That was completely wrong.. We started the devil eggs which we tasty and then order a meal. Chicken thigh and dumplings and Pork chops. The chicken thigh and dumplings were all slopped together in bowl and the dumplings were have cooked half and the other the other half raw dough and some mystery brown sauce to boot. My pork chop was a on the dry side over room temperature Mac and cheese and over pickled greens that left the bitter taste of vinegar in my mouth. So we thought how bad could dessert be ..well I had a apple Gillette that was cold and had an even colder scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (best part of the meal was the ice cream) and my wife had the key lime cream brûlée that was all cream and no key lime. So if you want to got to RF in St Augustine go for the roof top bar view and drink no the food. read more

A lot to unpack here. Let's start with the good! We came to celebrate my dads 75th birthday. The ambiance is stellar. Friendly hosts who were honest about the wait time (no reservations here). We ended up waiting about an hour, but luckily snagged bar seats upstairs. Cocktails and back bar selection were fantastic, as were the bartenders (shout of to Adrian who kept us laughing). We get to our outside table and our server came over immediately, got our drink orders and put an app in. We ordered a bottle of wine but did not receive a ice bucket so guess we needed to just drink fast... Calamari was great, just wish we had more of it as the serving size was small. After our server took our order we didn't see him again. Got my own set ups, plates, water refill etc from the bar. Out of the 12 oysters, 4 of them were non existent. However, the rest of food we ordered was STELLAR! I had the scallops, Dad had Cioppino and partner had the ocean platter. Fresh fresh fresh and SO flavorful. Once we finally found our server for the check I requested to speak with a manager. Being in hospitality my whole life, I understand the kinks that happen with new restaurant openings and wanted to give them the chance to right the wrong on the service front before going all Karen... and they absolutely did. The manager, Brandon, was lovely and understanding, and our server actually confronted the situation head on and apologized for "dropping the ball." It happens! I really respected that he owned up. Good kid. I look forward to seeing this restaurant become a St Augustine staple. They have all the pieces and good people running it. And the food was OUTSTANDING. Me and my friend were in town for a vacation. We thought we would try the restaurant out. We ordered oysters from the appetizer menu. When the waitress brought the oysters we asked for crackers (since there were none with the oysters). The waitress was very rude and laughed at us for asking for crackers! She said you don't eat Oysters Rockefeller with crackers and would not bring us any! The bill was $50 for 5 oysters (average taste) and 2 Margaritas with house Tequila. Such a beautiful view no matter where you sit. Lots of light and windows. Decor is clean and modern, but warm. Food was delicious at dinner time. We started with fried calamari...crispy, light with lots of fried sweet peppers mixed in. Tomato sauce was delicious. The shrimp and avocado salad...perfectly cooked shrimp, not overloaded with dressing. Also, the burger was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was helpful and available without being in our faces. Came here for st.pattys day lunch, was told 15-30mins to be seated inside. Took over 50 minutes, and as we got sat, there were SEVEN empty tables that would fit us (none were larger a table than what we were given, so no they were not reserving them for other people). Front desk woman (older woman) very sassy and rude on the phone, answering questions, etc. Someone asked "What are your specials" and in a rude, sassy tone answered "All of our dishes are special". Like, do your job. Badly managed; food was decent, but not good enough to excuse any of this. As we left, the dining room was still nearly empty and SIX PARTIES were waiting to be sat there. Like what are you doing? seat your customers so they can have their damn food. read more

We were in St. Augustine to celebrate a birthday and wanted a nice dinner. As fans of River and Post, we had high hopes. I know this place is new, but it seems it's still struggling to find it's identity. Are you a bar or are you nice dining? The Tomahawk steak runs $80. We didn't order it mostly because after waiting 40 minutes to be seated, we we were placed in the bar. Still, we spent almost $100 for dinner for two. The food was good, but the atmosphere screamed chicken wings. We'll give it another try, but may just stick with River and Post. read more

Great view and location with good food. The staff cared, however, the managers failed big when 2 of our 3 entrees were wrong. Then there was a glass of wine with a fly in it, replaced by a glass of wine with a fly in it. Although we had a inside table, this was blamed on the outside bar. I took my family here visiting from out of town and it was a horrible experience. I reached out to the restaurant directly before posting this, but they never replied. We arrived at 6 PM and were quoted a two hour wait. We wanted to eat here, so decided to walk around the town while we waited. We checked out their rooftop after an hour into the wait. Then the problems began: 1) After waiting 2 hours (with kids) there were still 15 parties ahead of us. After speaking to them, they were able to seat us inside even though there was plenty of open seating outdoors. We took the table inside.  2) Our entrees came out in 3 waves. I was finished eating by the time the last person got their food.  3) Some of the food just wasn't good. I ordered the pork chop. The pork itself was good, but it was supposed to be serviced with mac and cheese and collard greens. The mac and cheese was plain noodles with a little cheese on top and the collard greens were not edible as they had way too much vinegar. Other people in our party had similar complaints. Overall- I don't recommend going there especially with a larger party.  If you want to check it out, go to the rooftop which only has drinks and a few apps and is first come first serve. read more

We passed this restaurant just near the Fort (Castillo) in historic St. Augustine by car and decided to come back and try it. The interior is fresh and modern, with a colonial meets coastal feel - great use of contrasting materials to get this decor. We sat on the porch facing the River (so there's the name) and more on the main road, and they also had another facing the fort - because our dog was welcome there. The positives - really good choices of food, server was really sweet - she was new to serving, having come up from another job in the restaurant - which we really like to see. We ordered what I would call more basic items, partly because it was early (like around 5 pm) so we weren't going for a heavy meal, and they were all really good - the deviled eggs were a real stand out and the broiled oysters were yum. I had the shrimp and avocado salad and the corn bread muffins were a neat addition. My hubs got a charred miso glazed salmon that was really good. She forgot to tell us the specials (hey, that happens) and because of being under 21 could only describe the cocktails (note to all restaurants - find a way to educate the under age staff by using reasonable substitutions to give them an idea of what a drink is like). Overall the menu is a solid 10/10 with lots to choose from at what are actually reasonable prices. We didn't go upstairs since we had the puppy, so I can only think the views get better from there. So....the restaurant biz is SO tough right now. And to be in the biz you have to get it right. Plus to OPEN A NEW PLACE - truly brave! That said - I HATE writing a mixed review. You GO TO THIS PLACE FOR THE FOOD! The food was terrific. I had the Ocean Platter with a to-die-for calamari appetizer; the wifey had the beet salad and the short ribs. Again - the food was absolutely perfect. BTW - superbly presented on the plate! Now the bad news. A bit pricey - and for this review - even "chinsey" (a.k.a. cheapskate) - meaning - the calamari needed an extra arribiata sauce than the one that comes with it - AND SO THEY BANGED ME THREE DOLLARS WITHOUT TELLING ME UPFRONT on a $150 TOTAL tab! Frankly, a rookie mistake when you want to build positive impressions! Service was WAY too slow - but remember that BOTH it is still COVID time and also ALL the staffing issues going on and they are only open 2 months. So give ''em a brake" there - but do not go unless you can & want to hang out for a while. To the Owners - I will be back - so that is the bottom line. You've got a great location and did a super renovation. A+ food! Some say "Touristy" vis-a-vis us locals - and while true - it is ALSO what we need here. Get the service and front of the house corrected, forget about making pennies when you can make great impressions and win repeat customers and your bravery will pay off for you AND for us! read more

If I could I would give more than 5 stars!! My boyfriend and I visited for a Sunday night and had one our best experiences and food we have had in Florida yet. Cat was our server and from the very beginning she gave the top recommendations and amazing service. From the fried green tomatoes to the stuffed New York strip steak. The both of us drooling over our food. Could not have asked for better service and environment for this place! Definitely recommend this restaurant and recommend Cat as your server! read more
