I will admit that I underestimated this establishment. In all the years that I had a magic key or annual pass, I rarely if ever ate here. I imagine it was likely because, when I ate there, the food was mediocre. With so many delicious dining options in the parks, I didn't feel the need to try again. Even though I gave up my magic key late last year, I heard that they overhauled their menu and that the new items, although eclectic, were tasty. Since I was back in the park, even though I was skeptical, I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did; it did not disappoint! I came with my husband and 2 friends, and we shared the creamy dill, pickle, and onion dip to start. My husband and I then shared the plant-based meatloaf while my 2 friends shared the fried chicken plate. The cream dill, pickle, and onion dip was delicious! The chips are clearly homemade and were nicely fried and crispy. They paired perfectly with the smooth and creamy dip. If you're a pickle fan, this dip is a must-try! For me, the fried chicken was only ok. I found that the meat was too lean, and the sauce underneath made the bottom soggy. I personally would rather have the fried chicken at Plaza Inn. On the other hand, the plant-based meatloaf was delicious! Tell me why this is some of the best meatloaf I've ever had! I never thought plant-based meatloaf could be tastier than regular meatloaf. It was perfectly seasoned with a slightly spicy kick. Honestly, if I didn't know it was plant-based, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The accompaniments were also tasty. To end the meal, we shared a pumpkin crunch cake. I'm usually not a big pumpkin fan because I don't like nutmeg (which is often included with pumpkin flavors), but I enjoyed this cake. Not sure if they went light on the nutmeg or if it's just not in there, but I would get it again. All-in-all, I was pleasantly surprised by several of the menu options, and I would definitely eat here again. I have to say that my dining experience at River Belle Terrace was really enjoyable. Our server Michael was friendly and on top of making sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant was well kept, clean, and beautiful. We ordered the Chicken Pot Pie soup and the Fried Chicken plate! We were so pleased with the rich flavorful taste of both dishes. Delicious! Didn't give 5 stars for the following: 1.) I wish they were a little more generous with the portion of the green beans and spinach salad that was served with Fried Chicken. 2.) I don't eat seafood, so I thought the menu offerings were very limited. I am not sure what I was expecting coming back here. River Belle was exceedingly terrible before. Yes, it has improved since, but that was a very low bar to clear. Last time we ate at this restaurant, it was so bad that none of us wanted to stay at Disneyland after. And while we still remained at the park after our latest dinner, I don't think any us were happy with what we ate. First and foremost, everything we ordered that night had that dry sheen that comes from sitting under a heat lamp for an extended period of time. Our food had been cooked, plated, and then sat long enough for all the sauces to congeal and set into place before being brought to our table. It was extremely obvious and a bit gross, especially considering that it felt like we waited a bit too long for our food after ordering. I opted for the Impossible Meatloaf. The protein itself was fine, with a nice texture and taste. But the tomato glaze suffered from that lengthy wait under the lamp, causing it to become thin to the point where the whole entree was dry. And the tomatoes that were part of the 'roasted vegetables' side brought an unwelcome acidity and sourness to my dinner. My wife had the Chicken Pot Pie Soup which suffered the most from that heat lamp. You could see where the crumpled biscuit on top sat upon the dried dome of her soup, unable to break through and sink into the liquid. She ate her meal with her typical shoulder shrug and accompanying, 'meh'. Our son ordered the Blackened Fish, a dish he's been ordering whenever we eat anywhere at the park. This iteration he found to be dried out, flakey, and probably the worst version of fish he's had in about half a dozen places we've eaten at Disneyland. He did like the chips, though. And our daughter had the Kids' Menu Mac & Cheese which looked and tasted like it was formulated for a juvenile detention center. She ate very little of it and stuck to her orange, milk, and candy we brought with us. Also on the table was the Pork Chop, which my mother was very much looking forward to, but she ended up eating less than half of. It had been cooked to the point where the protein had broken down to almost mush. The sear on the outside couldn't save it, the texture was just too off-putting. In the end, River Belle Terrace was almost as disappointing as it had been the first time we came here. This place is, without a doubt, one of the worst restaurants to eat at here in Disneyland. There really needs to be a top to bottom refurbishment or the horrible decor, slow service, and god-awful menu. River Belle sits on prime New Orleans Square real estate next to Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans; there is no excuse for how tacky and disgusting it is here. Value - Will you walk away satisfied?: * Every place in Disneyland is relatively over priced; the trick is to find food that will make you not want a snack two hours later, despite what you pay. Typically, paying around $15 per person is what you should expect, but still have a filling meal. Costs here top out between $25-$30 a person on average. At other more expensive spots at the Magic Kingdom, that usually gets you enough food to share with a loved one. The only spare food you'll get here is what you bag up to take home to your dog. In no way is River Belle worth the cost. Kid Factor - Is there entertainment for the young ones?: * * (and a half) River Belle Terrace lies at the nexus between Adventureland, Frontierland, and New Orleans Square. There is no in-house entertainment and Disney characters generally stick towards the center of their designated lands. You might catch the occasional Barber Shop quartet or Pirate walking by, but that will be about it. What this place does have, however, is a great view of the Rivers of America. Aside from the spectacular scenery, the passing Mark Twain steamboat, and the Columbia, you can also watch Fantasmic if the show is playing. When I went to Disneyland on a very hot day, all I wanted was to go to an air conditioned inside restaurant. When my family and I booked the reservation it said "Inside seating" so we were hopeful. We got to the check in stand outside, and they said they currently have no seats inside even though we booked inside specifically. They ended up seating us outside in a poorly shaded area. As we sat and waited, we saw other people who was a walk in be seated inside. We asked a few more times to see if they could move us and each time it was a no. We could clearly see inside from where we were sitting and there were a few spots open. Not only were we dying of heat, but the food was also not the best. We ordered a kids shrimp, kids chicken tenders and an appetizer which was cheese sticks. The shrimp only came with 4 shrimps and they were so tiny. Every bite was just plain nothing, cause it tasted like water and no seasoning. The Chicken tenders didn't taste cooked and the cheese sticks had hard cheese. I ordered the blackened fish plate, and it also arrived lacking presentation. I admit, the fish (salmon) was juicy and flavorful and the accompanying salad was tasty, but the portions were small. The salad was only three pieces of red cabbage and sparse greens. It seemed the chips were the majority on the plate, reminiscent of take out counter vibes. Pairing with rice or mashed potato would've made it a substantial meal. Lemon Caper Shrimp - 4/5 This dish has been on the menu for a while. It still is very good. The pasta was prepared al Dante and the shrimp was plentiful. The Lemon flavor was light. From other reviews, I would have thought the flavor of lemon would be more prominent than what I experienced. That being said, I still enjoyed this past. Even though the sauce from this batch was very light on lemon flavor, you still can taste lemon and it was nice and creamy. The shrimp was slightly overcooked. It was not firm and tender. That may be due to the volume of shrimp that needs to be prepped to serve the days customer volume. The shrimp was still good and did not take away from the overall goodness of this selection. I would order this again. Impossible Meat Loaf - 5/5 This veggie meat loaf was very good. The best thing about this place that it's pretty easy to get a reservation here even on the day of. The restaurant is pretty spacious. It has very old southern vibes. The cast members here are very nice and were very attentive. We had a little one and they were all super kind to him. There is a kids menu as well as an adult menu. You can also purchase alcohol here for dining. I got the fried chicken plate and have to say it was pretty mediocre. The portion was pretty small. I feel like this restaurant used to give out large portions, but maybe something's changed. My husband got the pork chop and it was also just all right. Nothing memorable. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful. If you're able to sit inside, you're in a for a treat because the decor and walls are just so pretty. I got the Big Belle Sandwich for our visit and I think that was the right choice. It's their signature and the sandwich had a bit of everything. The last time I was here for Sweetheart's Nite a couple of years back. I decided to give this place another try while at Disney Channel Nite! They were serving exclusive items only for the event! Good thing is that we were able to walk right on up and put our name down. We only had to wait 3 minutes and then we were seated. Just tried the River Belle for the first time! We were lucky to book a same day reservation at 620pm (prime dinner time). I checked in a few minutes early and we were seated around 635. The restaurant was pretty busy with lots of guests waiting but once we were sat service was pretty decent and wait times for drinks and food were average. The Burt ends pasta dish was pretty good 7/10 and the fried chicken with mash and green bean was even better 8.5/10 (tip: ask for extra mustard. It's so tasty!) The wait staff is attentive, but almost too attentive, as if they just want to get you out of there as quickly as possible (which I'm sure they are). Our daughter surprised us with tickets to Disneyland to celebrate our wedding anniversary, which was where we had our honeymoon after we got married 30 years ago. 30 years later, it was a blessing for my wife and I to celebrate 30 years of being life partners with the two blessings God bestowed us, our kids, joining us. Besides tickets to the Happiest Place on Earth, our daughter surprised us with reservations and a 3-course meal at River Belle Terrace (RBT). Based on our first time dining here, I'm giving it 3.5 stars for good ambience, a couple of delicious aspects from our 3-course meal, and quality customer service from our waitress. River Belle Terrace is a restaurant that can only be visited if you have a ticket to Disneyland. My daughter made the reservation, so not sure if they accept same day walk-ups. RBT can be found in New Orleans Square, across from Tom Sawyer's Island, and it's a short walk to Pirates of the Caribbean. From what my daughter told me, RBT is the prime spot to watch the Fantasmic water show, so reservations are imperative. Our reservations were for 7:40pm, but we checked in at 7:20pm, the lady took my daughter's name, and she was contacted via cellphone when they were ready for us. The outside of the restaurant looks like an old school Southern mansion and when you enter, it feels like you've been teleported to what I picture an upscale Southern restaurant would look like. There is floral decor all over their walls, flowers intertwined on their chandelier light fixtures, pink and light blue throughout, and stained glass windows above the main dining room entryway. There is outdoor and indoor seating with the prime spots to watch Fantasmic being the outdoor seats closest to the water. I forgot the name of our Latina waitress who wore glasses, but she was one of the reasons for my high rating with her friendly and professional demeanor and quality customer service. Our daughter booked the Fantasmic dining experience at RBT to celebrate our wedding anniversary and she was so kind to do that for us. To be completely transparent, this dining experience costs $64 per person. For me, I think the cost is worth it because it comes with a choice of a starter, a choice of an entree, a choice of a dessert, and a choice of a non-alcoholic beverage. I wish my daughter had asked us what we preferred because I would not have wanted her to spend that much money and would have been okay eating at one of the chain restaurants in Downtown Disney. What is really cool about the Fantasmic dining experience is that you get tickets for prime viewing of the Fantasmic water show. Unfortunately for us, our tickets were for the 10:30pm showing, which was too late for us. I liked that this dining experience had multiple choices for the different meal categories. For my starter, I chose the cup of chicken pot pie soup. That was the best part of my entire meal. Make sure to pick it because I'm confident you won't be disappointed. The soup was flavorful, the chicken was tender, and the biscuit added to the deliciousness. For my entree, I chose the buttermilk fried chicken, which also comes with buttery mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, coleslaw, and apricot-mustard BBQ sauce. The chicken was okay, the vegetables were undercooked, I liked the coleslaw and the BBQ sauce, and I thought the tastiest thing were the mashed potatoes. For my dessert, I picked the house-made pudding, which was vanilla pudding, sticky toffee cake, and candied pecans. I enjoyed the pudding and thought it was a good ending to our meal. Our daughter really made us feel special for our wedding anniversary with tickets to where the start of our marriage began and to a really cool dining experience that had several positives. If you're Disney fans like my family and I, being able to watch Fantasmic while dining at River Belle Terrace is something that other Disney fans would love. read more

Oh man the soup was soooooooo good! Exactly what I needed!!! Chicken pot pie soup and as the waiter suggested... a little dash if tapatio was surprisingly yummy: ate have that way and the other half without. First time having brunch at this place. Ordered the Gingerbread Pancakes with Eggs and Freshly Brewed Joffreys Coffee. The eggs, bacon, & coffee were fantastic. Can't say the same for the gingerbread pancakes. The sauce wasn't that too and the pancakes didn't tasted well. Definitely a miss. Good and quick service. We wanted to have a set down dinner on our last day at Disneyland. We couldn't decide where and we just happened to pass by River Belle and so glad we stopped and put ourselves in the waitlist. We didn't expect much when we came but was surprisingly surprised of how delicious their food is. The teenagers approved of the food. You know it's hard that is. LOL. We loved everything we ordered. We finished all of it even though we been snacking all day. The service is amazing. Our server was so nice and patient as we took our time to order. The inside of the restaurant is nice and clean. The great thing is that they have AC. You know how hot it can get in an August night. If you are in Disneyland, try this place out. If you get a dinner reservation..I think you can request to be outside so you can watch the Fantasmic show in their outdoor dining. read more

Glad we stopped here for an early dinner. The food was delicious. I had a pork chops and my husband had the chicken and we were not disappointed. Keylime pie was delicious too. Location is right next to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and he has sitting both in and outside. Service was adequate. read more

Disneyland food is usually always really dang good. I wanted to try a new restaurant today and river belle it was. The breakfast easily fed 2 people. All the carbs from the Nashville hot chicken had me in a food coma the whole day. It was bad lol. I got a chance to try the shrimp and grits later on in the day. It was good.
