Dr Huang was my primary dentist for about 2 years. During that time I visited the office around 6-8 times. He is very friendly, but if you need anything more than a cleaning I would not recommend River Dentistry. Overall, the team -- doctors and staff -- are too inexperienced to give me the confidence to come back. I decided to move on after a series of issues Dr Huang had replacing two fillings on a molar. The fillings in question were nearly 15 years old and Dr Huang recommended repairing them. The first solution he proposed was using a patch which he applied but fell out within the week. The second solution was to replace the top of the filling, but this part also started wearing out within a few months. On the third visit, Dr Huang recommended replacing the filling entirely with more "durable" ones. These are the fillings I now have which wer under-filled and already eroding after about a year. I have very good dental hygiene and these are my only two fillings. I will need to have them replaced again, but I won't be coming back to Dr Huang for a fourth fix to the same tooth. I am not sure why but all the assistants working there seem very shy, and almost unintelligible in their mumbling. On several occasions they were tasked with the cleaning, and I didn't feel that they were particularly thorough. Unfortunately this adds to my lack of confidence in the staff at River Dentistry. read more

I respect the kindness of the staff and Dr. Huang. However, would not recommend since they don't specialize in my needs and was in a consult for 12 minutes and informed repetitive information I already knew about my impacted tooth and procedure. Afterwards, charged a fee of $50 for the consult which I gained nothing, but a referal to a con artist oral surgeon nearby. Would NOT recommend at all. read more

This was an amazing and surprising experience for me. After being tricked into paying money I didn't really have to spend on treatments that didn't work in the past (and paying high rates disguised as discounts too) in the past, I've been avoiding dentists. But I knew I needed deep cleaning - at least. They were reasonably priced without making me feel like I had to be grateful. They were gentle but thorough. I had a dental emergency on the day of a big event. My regular dentist my brother in law was out of town. This was the second office I had called and felt pessimistic but the office manager , Tonya was extremely accommodating and seemed to want to help me. Once I arrived I had VIP treatment from the entire staff. Dr. Charlie and his team are warm caring professionals. I am so relieved to have found them during a crisis. I highly recommend !!! I was treated like a long term patient although it was an emergent visit. I just had Zoom! teeth whitening done at River Dentistry because I had excellent results with an Invisalign treatment earlier this year and they were offering an $89 special for the whitening. I followed Dr. Charles Huang from Zen Dental to River Dentistry when he opened up his own practice back in December of 2012 and my experience with Dr. Huang has been amazing! I've gotten everything done from deep cleanings to invisalign and he has made every dental appointment as painless and enjoyable as possible. Dr. Huang is professional, knowledgeable, and kind. His staff is extremely friendly and always willing to work around my busy schedule. I can always reach them via email or phone and receive a prompt response in return. I love that they are conveniently located downtown and are open on Saturdays!!! This was perhaps the biggest selling point upon first joining River Dentistry, but now that I've been a patient for so long, I can't imagine going elsewhere. River Dentistry was a pleasure from start to finish. I was on a tight schedule but they managed to fit me in at a convenient time. I had a filling and Charlie and the team made me feel very relaxed and at ease. Dr. Charlie is the best! I am not a fan of dentistry (really-who is?), but Dr. Charlie really works hard to make you comfortable and your treatment pain free. I have had fillings, crown replacements, and cleanings with him. He was wonderful each time. He is up on the latest techniques and options. He takes his time explaining things so you have comfort knowing you are getting exactly what you need. The location is convenient for downtown workers, and I also like his Saturday hours. River Dentistry is the only place where i go to do anything related to my oral hygiene. The staff and doctors are incredible. They make even the visit to the dentist pleasurable. I have been coming here for the past 3 years now, and i don't see myself changing any time soon. They are courteous, the office is clean, there is parking in the garage for the hotel and they validate. One of the things i love about this place is their ability to be on time. If you have an appointment at 11:00 AM, rest assured the latest you will be sitting on the doctor's chair is 11:05. I have been to places where after one hour i was still in the waiting room hoping to be called in next. Never again. I love this place and i am staying here. I bought two vouchers on Amazon Local for a "Dental Exam, Crystal Cleaning and X-Ray", one for me and one for my husband. I went in for my appointment and they cleaned and polished my teeth. The next week my husband went in and they told him that his voucher wasn't for a cleaning. All they did was polish his teeth and x-ray him. They kept telling him if he paid $90 for their sonic cleaning they could get the plaque off his teeth. (they got the plaque off my teeth with regular old dentist tools) It's very strange that we got two completely different services with the same voucher and from the same place. I paid $39 for these cleanings, which is a normal promotional price for a dental cleaning, very expensive for a polishing. Confused and disappointed with the inconsistency. read more

Dr. Huang is - by far - the best dentist I have ever had in my entire life. He is incredibly skilled and has made every procedure I've had at River Dentistry (cleaning, fillings, and Zoom) painless...and with optimal results. I never have to wait: here, a 1pm appointment means I am actually seen at 1pm! Sometimes it's the little things that make all the difference. I've had 4 appointments here so far, and each one has been great. Above all, I love this dentist office because they are skilled, honest, and upfront. Been a patient at River Dentistry ever since Dr. Charles Huang took over the location from Dr. Kathy Maasoumi a few years back. "Dr. Charlie" always lays out options, explains things in lay terms, is highly professional and cares deeply about his patients. I've had to have a tooth extraction, root canals/crowns in the pst few years, and Dr. Charlie and his staff always make me feel at ease and makes me as comfortable as possible. He has a light touch and I've rarely felt any pain in the few procedures he's had to perform. I appreciate the text reminders for my appointments. Was convenient for me when I worked in DTLA, but now that I don't work there (live in South Bay), I'll continue to drive/bus it to the Bonaventure to receive excellent service from Dr. Charlie and the River Dentistry staff. read more

I'm usually pretty nervous when I go to the dentist but there's something very calming about Dr. Huang. His practice is now in the lobby of the Bonaventure hotel. It's super easy to get in and out of there and somehow when I just get a standard cleaning my teeth are considerably whiter then when I go anywhere else. Plus I really like Dr. Huang's energy and attitude. He strikes that balance between being friendly and professional. Now I'm gushing about my dentist, but there's really no alternative. River dentistry is amazing!!! Dr. Charlie is very efficient, knowledgable and very conscious of you as a patient. He makes sure you fully understand the state of your teeth and walks you through every step. He caters to you and is always concerned about your comfortableness in the procedures he performs. He is also very conscious of the price procedures cost and your health care plan. Unlike other dentists I have been to, he does not force unnecessary procedures on you to help his business. I switched to Dr. Charlie after realizing that my prior dentist was likely over-billing me. I received River Dentistry's promotional email in my Inbox so I visited for an Invisalign assessment. Their office manager, Vanessa, is an amicable, accommodating person. Dr. Charlie himself is polite and displays good bed-side manners. He is young, knowledgable & answered my questions clearly. Not once did he attempt to upsell me onto something unlike my previous dentist. Vanessa and Dr Charlie were very kind in scheduling me for a couple of late-in-the-day, last-minute appointments and in once instance Vanessa stayed past regular office hours to accommodate my schedule. After not visiting the dentist for years, I decided to give River Dentistry a try after being highly recommended. Best decision! The entire staff at River Dentistry is awesome! All of the assistants are friendly and very informative. Jose is incredibly nice, patient, and informative.
