Avoid burger night on Mondays. Instead of serving there usually burger they serve pre-made hockey pucks that are flavorless. I also asked for well done and the burger was raw inside. Also French fries are like thick potato wedges. Very dissatisfied. Will not be returning. read more

Very greedy my family when to eat is there in August. We ask for an extra plate they ended up charging an extra $2 for a plate an empty plate. A month later we went to the Sunday Bloody Mary bar. My sons 12 and 13 had 2 virgin Bloody Marys and took a couple of extra carrot sticks. I guess that the owner or manager that was there seen can take a few extra carrots and charge us on our bill an extra $5 because of that. We will never go there again. Not kid friendly. Just very greedy They Should be ashamed of themselves You can buy a bag of carrots for a dollar. read more

i have been here many times over the past few years. the service seems to be hit or miss. you can wait unusually long for drinks but the food will be out faster than expected. the drinks are pretty good and reasonably priced but the food seems to be going downhill ever since this place opened. last time i was there i ordered a quesidilla and the onions on it were really coarse chopped and cold as well as the tomatoes. the loaded fries are greasy and not very 'loaded". maybe you have to be loaded to appreciate them hence the name? there was also one time where my girlfriend and i ordered the spinach and artichoke dip. not only was the dip bland tasting but the bread bowl was stale as well and for some reason they loaded the chips with salt. the best part about this place is the huge deck which is nice when its warm outside and you can relax outside. the atmosphere is good too and the place is clean and modern. theres a lot of tvs on the inside as well. overall, not a bad place to go for drinks and hang out, but dont go there expecting food that will blow you away. read more

Went there for dinner, haven't been there for a long time. The place has since been remodeled, love the new look! Nice place to sit and eat, has both tables and booths, bar area, and a tiki lit outdoor area (nice to even see them lit in February!), all in a funky designed atmosphere. The menu had a descent selection of appetizers, salad choices, sandwiches, and entrees all of which looked really good. The fish tacos/rice pilaf and casino crusted cod were excellent. As well as the brick cheese appetizer, and the pear/goat cheese salad. I wish I had room to try more! Service there was friendly, and all of the food arrived in a timely manner, not where everything comes out at once. Looking forward to our next time there! read more

Well the deck is very nice to sit on in the summer and over look the river. Other than that the service is always pretty poor, the hostess girls arent the brightest either. Nothing special about the food, and more often than not there is an issue with, which as other reviews state, the servers and management do not handle the situation in a satisfactory manner. A simple apology can do wonders guys... go for beers at a nice location outside, but dont expect much. read more

River Grille is my favorite place to go to in NEPA! The staff at River Grille is always extremely friendly! If you ever have a question about an item on the menu or want a particular drink the staff always goes above and beyond ensuring the customer's total satisfaction is met! The place is gorgeous both inside and outside! Inside there's the new crush bar which I love plus the other bar, ample room for dinning, a pool table, and great décor! Outdoor you have plenty of seating, the many fire pits, and the deck bar! The deck bar is my favorite part of River Grille! The food is always delicious! I love the macaroni and cheese, the nachos, boneless bites, etc! There's a DJ on the weekends and lots of room for dancing! A huge Bloody Mary bar on Sunday's! A great happy hour...halfie hour as they like to call it there which is really good! I held a friend's 30th surprise party there and the staff at River Grille did everything! I just simply invited the guests! It was a huge success! If you live in NEPA or you're passing through, I highly suggest you check out River Grille! read more

The food was really, really good and I want to like this place more, especially after our college daughter raved about it. Lunch on the patio was great with the sun and a river view, BUT the wait staff was extremely surly, as was the host when we came in. They acted as if they were doing us a huge favor by even allowing us to be in their restaurant. We probably won't be back. read more

The River Grille has got to be one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is amazing. The patio is great for a nice night by the river. The servers are always upbeat and friendly. If I could recommend something, it would be the buffalo chicken egg rolls, and also the lobster Mac & Cheese. It's never a disappointment when we go here! My co workers and I decided to have a post Christmas dinner get together. We decided to come here because it was close to the hospital where we work and the atmosphere is great. I myself have been here many times for drinks and appetizers . The Happy Hour specials along with the view of the river make it perfect to chill. The appetizers and dinner we all had were absolutely fantastic. Our server was attentive and prompt. From the Nachos and the Crab Fries to the Lobster Mac &Cheese and the Marsala Sirloin Steak(which by the way my husband said was cooked to perfection!!!!) and also the Jambalaya (Cajun all the way!) a good dinner was eaten by us all! I'd like to start by saying the food here is excellent, and trivia Tuesdays are a blast. What brings this place down the two stars for me is the service, or lack thereof. Myself and a group of friends regularly visits river grille, mostly for the trivia. On every single occasion, we have had a negative experience with our server. During Sunday brunch, it took 30 mins just to order our food, and well over an hour to receive our food. The excuse we were given was the power went out in the kitchen momentarily, but never was that information relayed to us. Several other times, we'd showed up between 6 and 6:30pm, well before the 7pm cutoff for happy hour and not gotten a chance to order before happy hour was over. And a tip, if you do get to order your drinks before happy hour ends, order two, because you won't get a chance to order another for a while. Last night though was the last straw. We attended for trivia, as we often do, and we sat down around 6:50. It was about twenty minutes before our waiter stopped by and asked us to order. While ordering, a member of our party attempted to order her drink AND food because we'd been waiting long enough, only to get a sassy "I'm only taking drink orders right now." With no further explanation. I ordered the burger special, which looked delicious. I ordered it medium. At around 7:55 was when we finally had food in front of us. By that time I was starving and began to eat the burger I was given. About half way through, a food runner brought another burger to the table, my actual burger. That's when I'd realized the burger I was eating wasn't my burger. When I brought that to the attention of my server, he was very rude. Being that I'd eaten most of the burger, I wasn't asking for anything in return, but simply bringing it to his attention because I was eating someone else's well done burger. Thankfully, he brought the manager out and she resolved everything. But never once did he apologize to me for his mistake or unnecessary sass. read more

I'm surprised at myself that I haven't eaten here sooner the sandwich that I had was spot on only one of the best I've had in the area. It really hit the spot it was a hangover burger it just had everything I needed it was delicious. I also went with the steak caprese let me tell you that steak was perfectly cooked medium fork tender and the flavors of that was the best. You should definitely try it out. read more

I frequent the River Grill about once a month. Each experience has been exceptional. The food is incredible (takes longer than expected but worth the wait). The beverage options range from craft beer to fufu cocktails (lack of wine always disappoints). My husband and I always feel as if we walked into Cheers. Ask for Jen. She has been our server and is the best, she always remembers us and genuinely asks how we've been (and my husband thinks she's cute)! She always lets us know what's new and has a recommendation for each course. My favorite is crab cake minis and my husband loves the burgers. I would love for the steak sticks to make an appearance; but you can't win em all. See you soon, River Grille. We love the place! read more

Went here 8/18 2015 and would never go back. Waitress was not at all helpful, not informing us of any specials. Ordered the grouper which said was grilled, it was more like deep fried and microwaved. The only good things were the potatoes, beer and view. Will not be going back! read more

Came in for lunch and had a great meal. The staff is very friendly and always on top of everything. I was very impressed that the manager, Greg, cane and made sure everything was perfect! It is rare to find managers like him around anymore, ones who go out of their way to make sure the customer feels welcome and taken care of. This establishment WAS fun with a great atmosphere. It's perfect for a daytime lunch or early dinner, but once it hits nighttime forget it. It becomes extremely packed with an uneasy crowd and will make people like myself uncomfortable. Be prepared to watch a fight because they often happen every night of the weekend. Drinks are good when you can get them. The music is allllllll hip-hop with no room for much else. Servers never seem to want to wait on you past 10. Food is moderate. The deck is great but know when to leave (around 9) to beat the club feel crowd. I have been coming here for 2 summers now and I dont remember it being this way last summer. I am currently in my early 30's so if I were to make a friendly suggestion I would say to cater less to the college kids and alittle more to others, after all we are spending our money there as well ( if not more than the college kids). I love this place but it needs to straighten up and gain back some more control. read more

Oh River Grille. I want to give you a higher rating. I really, really do. The physical location is very convenient, the atmosphere is terrific. The deck, outside bar area and fire pits are all awesome. The food is great. The brunch menu and Bloody Mary bar are simply spectacular. There is no other place in the area that has the potential that River Grille has. So why oh why do you throw it all away with your awful, terrible, horrendous service?? The service at this place is the absolute worst! The servers are slow, inattentive, and far more concerned with chatting with one another and hanging out than waiting on their tables. The bartender at the outside bar was go gruff and standoffish the other day that we actually felt unwelcome, and moved to a table instead. The server I had for brunch last Sunday did not bring the salsa or sour cream that was supposed to come with my breakfast burrito (which happens every time I order it) and brought coffee mugs that were only half full. Our mimosas sat empty for almost 15 minutes before anyone came to offer refills, our food was cold before anyone brought us silverware, and the server scowled at my friend and skulked away without a word when he had the audacity to ask for hot sauce. Needless to say, it never came. We then waited a full 20 minutes for our check and only got it after we flagged the server down while he was bullshitting with another table of pissed off looking people's server. I hear the same complaints about the service here over and over. You would think the management would have addressed this issue by now. If you go, it's so tempting to sit on the deck. But if you want even somewhat decent service (not necessarily friendly) your best bet is to sit at the inside bar. read more

I was there, AGAIN, recently for a quick bite to eat! That quick bite turned into a few additional friends and a few more hours of food and drinks:) The place is surprisingly big both inside and out and looks like it can accommodate something formal to something casual based on the decor. We were seated quickly outside and the service was wonderful. Menu is just right offering great variety from main courses to small plates. which made ordering easy and pain free. Food was phenomenal as was the house-made sangria. If your looking for really good food and a really good atmosphere, check it out! I've also been at River Grill on Sundays for the Bloody Mary brunch, aside from the self serve huge Bloody Mary bar, the brunch menu is on point and delicious! From the RG sandwich to the skillet to the huge breakfast burrito.....I've tried it all and have yet to be disappointed. The chef chimes in with weekend specials as well that will delightfully challenge your taste buds. read more
