Stopped here on a whim after catching a movie in Owego. This place had good reviews on Yelp. Very impressed. We both had salads, Chef and Cobb. Both were excellent and large. I also had Manhattan Clam Chowder which was very good. Server Tara was pleasant and attentive. An excellent meal. Recommended. We will be back. read more

The food is always good as are the prices. However, the one waitress could use some lessons on customer service. She is not attentive and simply goes thru the motions. We visited a couple of weeks ago, she had her mask on her arm as you would carry a purse, the other waitress was wearing her mask on her neck like a scarf. The owner was sitting at the counter with no mask in sight. We've visited this place numerous times and can't see ourselves returning between them not following Covid guidelines and the rudeness of the waitress. We will instead visit MJ's right down the road where they are much friendlier and appreciate your business. read more

this place a great spot for breakfast! there's a lovely view of the river and the restaurant is nice on the inside too, a nice relaxed casual vibe. I really liked the pancakes, they're big and fluffy and they have a nice flavor to them, I tasted some vanilla in there. the bacon I had was nice and crisp and the scrambled eggs were the standard as to what scrambled eggs should be at a diner. the toast was good too but I really enjoyed the home fries! they weren't super crisp, but crisp enough, and the seasoning was interesting, I think it might have been ranch dressing seasoning, it made the home fries unique and very enjoyable! the service was good too, the waitress was attentive and polite and the prices were reasonable. check these guys out! I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to trying their lunch but I would definitely like to eat breakfast here again! read more

After several visits I can honestly say this is one of the best diners I've visited. The food is consistently good, the portions are generous and the prices are more than fair. The only weakness for me is that when they are busy the Wagstaff acts noticeably hurried when talking to you. They are still friendly but tend not to be as attentive. This is hands down my favorite place in owego ny to eat. Everytime I come into town I make sure I stop at River Rock diner to eat. The food is fantastic I have never had a bad meal or a complaint at this place. The service is also very very good. Always been polite and professional. Aside from great food and great service the place is spotless. I would highly recommend giving river rock diner a try if you have never been!!!! I am giving it a 4 star rating because my husband had french onion soup and said it was excellent, the bread was toasted and the cheese melted just perfect. I had chicken salad and it was very good, I am picky about chicken salad and the waitress was honest to say that she never had it but people that ordered never complained. My daughter wanted grilled cheese with bacon and the waitress suggested she ordered from the children's menu because it was cheaper that way, I have never been able to order, as a adult, from children's menu but she said it was ok. and then she even got the dessert. A real treasure! Was looking for coffee and breakfast this morning at 7am while driving Route 17E in New York State. Got off the highway at Exit 65 thinking that McDonalds was the only option that early in the day. But if you drive past McDonalds about 1/4 mile you'll find this little restaurant on the left. Great service, super friendly staff and delicious and affordable food! It's so good that it's worth getting off the highway even if you're not hungry! read more

The River Rock Diner is a very nice place to eat. There is seating outside but we usually try to get a seat by the windows to look out so we can watch the Susquehanna River flow by. The servers are very good. It is a friendly place to eat even when they are busy. We generally go there for breakfast. They have a very good breakfast menu and usually have specials on the board. We have eaten there for dinner once. It was a good dinner. The prices are very reasonable also. I recommend it read more
