The large shrimp were perfectly grilled and the Cappellini Scallions Latkes with Lemon Basil Butter made for a delisious dish. Hubby got the seafood paella which he said was bland and lacked the crunchy rice base that is critical for paella. Tucked away in a strip mall just off of US 1 it's easily overlooked. Went there on the recommendation of some friends and I was blown away by the food. Went for lunch with 9 other ladies. Our resv was managed perfectly. Kaylee was our server and she was incredible and fantastic. All 10 said Kaylee was awesome, all were insanely happy with their food..no easy task! I had the steak chimmichuri pesto, the steak was so tender and the salad was delish! River Twist is just great! Located in a smaller strip mall is this unassuming little place. Upon walking in you'll notice a clean inside, with booths and tables scattered throughout, and a huge bar on the back wall. We've been for both dinner and lunch, and both experiences were positive and quite tasty! The dinner and lunch menus are different, so i'll start with dinner first. Good wines, great cocktails, and delicious food. My husband is a huge chicken livers fan, and he loves these! I love their seared Ahi Tuna appetizer. It's fresh, and such a great take on a popular appetizer. The sauces, the presentation - perfect! The entrees are delicious, and the menu really has a great selection of dishes for everyone. Lunch is great too! We recently experienced lunch here, and the food is wonderful, the prices are right, and we would definitely return! My mom had a Shrimp Louie salad and I had the chicken salad club. The salad was fresh and she enjoyed! My sandwich was yummy also, and came with avocado, bacon, LTO, all served on a seeded multigrain bread. It was served with my choice of side (pork rinds, chips, or another option i forget!), cole slaw, a gerkin pickle, and with a cup of their daily soup. All was fresh and delicious! My dinner was inedible; my companions' steak was great. By the time the waitstaff stopped by to check in, companions finished and my meal mostly untouched. I told waitress food was not to my taste and she asked if I wanted something else. As I didn't want to have others wait and was not convinced I'd be happy I declined. Manager stopped by, not knowing about my bad meal. When I told her honestly about it, she appeared defensive rather than listen to what I didn't like. Ultimately the charge was removed which they did on their own, I didn't ask. The people could not be friendlier! Cara our server, Anthony, and Lorraine the owner were absolutely delightful and made this a lovely visit! Now, let's talk about the food... just YUM! The fried chicken livers were like taste bomb pillows! Cooked to perfection, tasty, lots of layers of flavor.... The lamb was amazing, perfectly done with a phenomenal sauce... and the tuna tataki was creatively presented with sesame soba noodles a slaw and a sauce that perfectly complemented the tuna - which basically melted in my mouth. My first visit, 2 of the 4 guests had been there for lunch and based on that experience they wanted us to as well. It was even better than we had hoped. Unfortunately the Scallop special was 86'd. Our table enjoyed the veal, salmon, chicken and beef. All were outstanding! The restaurant was pretty crowded yet it was easy to hold a conversation which most restaurants you cannot. Fantastic services either a Scottish flair Smoked salmon tower was absolutely delicious and presentation was unique. Beef tournedos were so luscious I could cut them with my fork. The chicken livers were my wife's favorite. But crowning glory was three of us got bananas foster with the added white chocolate ice cream had everything except the flambé. As far as the ambiance, your eating on a wooden table with no table coverings... Considering the $$$ that they charge for their meals our experience could have been better. Clean restroom 5. Staff is masked Areas for improvement- 1. Waitress was not very friendly, for example when asked about specific dietary needs she was very abrupt and mentioned a "vegetable plate" and despite asking a few times for more detail on what that would include (ie a plate of sides from items on the menu, etc) was brushed off. 2. The menu could use some more vegetarian, vegan options or even an indicator on which dishes could be modified to accommodate dietary restrictions. Overall we left satisfied with the meal but with a bad taste with our server's brusque non-responses to our questions. read more

Finally was able to try this place and we were very disappointed. I ordered the paella ($41) and it was bad all around. The entire dish had no flavor but somehow the presentation was actually worse. I received 4 tiny pieces or sausage, 3 mussels, small crab legs...which were buried in the rice. It also came with a full drum stick chicken and a wing, buried in the paella. The chicken had zero flavor. The entire dish was a fail. Our other dish was scallops and again, no flavor. We let the server know but she acted like she didn't care. This place doesn't look too exciting from the parking lot but once you are inside it is very interesting with eclectic decor. The most important part is they have great food and service. The menu is limited but everything is very fresh. We started with a veggie flat bread with a chile sauce on it. Wonderful flavor and plenty for two people. For an entree I had skewered shrimp with a garlic butter sauce. There were 4 jumbo shrimp that were perfectly cooked. My husband had the lamb chops. He said they were delicious. We had dinner here a few days ago. We were impressed with the cocktails, food, service and atmosphere and desserts. One of us had the mahi special with Cajun creole sauce over rice. I had the tornados, cook perfectly loved the two sauces and Brussels sprouts! We ordered the spice spice cake it was very good. The owner came around twice and the second time she told us that her husband bakes all the desserts! We took a second piece to go We will be back! read more

River Twist review I would give '0' stars if I could. To say the dinner service was lacking is an understatement. It was appalling! From the moment we sat down we felt rushed. So much so the waitress, Stacey, literally said to us 'you only have an hour and a half to sit here." We hadn't even ordered yet. Not once was there ever a wait for a table. The attitude exuded by Stacey was cold, unfriendly and rude. Never a smile. That's not all! Then half the guests at our table received burnt entrees, which were all delivered by another waitress. The owner, Lorraine, came over and defended her burnt food stating "that's how it is here." So obviously there's no sense in having the kitchen remake the entrees. Therefore, after a drink and an appetizer we were done. For a fine dining establishment as they claim along with the dinner prices they charge, where food and service is expected to be top notch, serious changes need to be made if their goal is to have satisfied, returning customers. Three friends and I experienced River Twist last week and are already making plans to return! Chef/Owner Mike is a creative culinary genius. Lorraine, Mike's wife and front of the house leader, started us off with a beautiful crostini topped with goat cheese, caramelized onions, golden raisins and local honey. Holy cow! Two of us had the salmon pineapple teriyaki (I made a special preparation request and it was perfect with no fuss!). My BFF thoroughly enjoyed the lamb chops with polenta and mom enjoyed the mahi special. Extensive wine list and really good ice tea for me! The interior is lovely, a bit funky and so welcoming.
