I feel as if this place is Vero's version of the emperor's clothes. Lots of hype, but no substance. We were beyond excited to go having read their reviews, but our actual dining experience was the worst either of us could recall. Service was just awful and the food was mediocre, at best. My family and I have gone to Tuohy's about four times now. Each time the staff was very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was comfortable. The menu had a variety of options. If they have the empanadas, definitely get those. We have tried the short rib ones, which are amazing. The bramble cocktail they make is also very good. The entrees that I have had were tasty and well-portioned. Sitting outside with live music is also nice when it's not too hot out. We look forward to going back. read more

Been here several times now. Certainly a hidden gem. We've always sat outside so I can't speak to the inside, but we've always enjoyed our time listening to the acoustic music and enjoying the outdoors. Went with friends.. Had Selena's white BBQ shrimp. Absolutely delicious, don't let the BBQ throw u off. This white sauce is beyond decadent. Also had grouper with the lump crab meat on top with a cranberry smear..fish was glistening & cooked to perfection. Hubby had the meatloaf. First time after reading reviews. Dinner was a smash burger(s), two patties! Good and not too big. Menu is "Celtic" w/ some interesting selections. We will be back to try some of those selections. Service was good, no complaints. Ate inside as the porch was hot and muggy but we do want to try that one also. Small bar so get there right at 4:00 if that's your happy hour spot. Last nights dinner was outstanding. First we started with the pickled barrata beet salad. Deliciously fresh and tasty. We also had the blackened chicken, crawfish empanadas. The empanadas crust was cooked to perfection. The filling of blackened chicken and crawfish was a delicious blend of flavors as was the dipping sauce. It was so delicious you could drink it. As the main course I choose the triple tail with capers, mash potatoes, and green beans. The caper sauce was just outstanding. It was done perfectly as capers can make the food over salty but not on this dish. The fish portion was nice size and cooked to perfection as were the green beans. The mash potatoes were creamy and again the perfect flavor and consistency. Great service, perfectly made expresso martini, good wine list will make Tuohy's on my frequent restaurant list. The food was very good. The server was sassy and when she realized she knew us inadvertently she tossed on the charm. It was a chilly night and with the breeze the candles wouldn't stay lite. Either invest in table top battery operated candles or invest in a dimmer light, main dinning room was too dark. Went on a weeknight and it was not crowded at all. We sat inside and didn't find it to be noisy as many reviews mentioned. It was clean and tastefully decorated. The waitress was friendly and the service was excellent. I had the cottage pie and it was delicious. The portion was very generous, so I only finished half of it (but I'm not a big eater). We had some oysters on the half shell which were very fresh and tasty. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It is one of the better option for dining in Vero Beach. read more

Went with friends to Tuohy's last night. We had a couple of cocktails at the bar before dinner. The bartenders were all very friendly and the drinks were well served. Moving into the dining room, and anticipating a great meal. Our server was very friendly, taking our appetizer order promptly. We ordered a double order of Gorgonzola egg rolls, which were good, but a bit overdone. We had asked our server to let us get through Apps before ordering dinner, and she accommodated us, even though promising to hold putting in the dinner order until the timing was right. As I am always wary of that happening, she was very good about taking the dinner order a bit later. For dinner, there were two wedge salads with chicken, one double smash-burger and one Guinness Pie. All the food was delicious. I had the Guinness Pie and it was superb. Highly recommend it to anyone! We were beyond full and skipped desert, so no report there. There is also a great outdoor area for dining, if that is what you're after. The only negative takeaway for me is the sound level. It does get a bit loud for intimate occasions. read more

Nothing but that sweet and fennel sausage punch to the face (a good thing) would definitely recommend! My wife had the smoke turkey hoagie and the brine of the bird with the smoke of the Gouda took us back to a favorite spot of ours in the mountains of NC. Caesar salad! was crisp and fish funky the way it should be! And to hell with grated cheese they thin slice the parmesan Reggiano (My favorite!) Price!!! Outstanding food, terrific service, and lots of ambiance, a great place to socialize. Son and I had Grilled Pork Chop, daughter had salmon, and wife had fish tacos. All food tasty, and well prepared, and beautifully presented. Best grilled pork chop I ever had. Fresh Oysters were outstanding and very fresh. Salads and sides very attractive and tasty. Green beans and mashed potatoes A+++! Wife and daughter loved their drinks, they were perfectly mixed and actually had alcohol in them, which can be a rarity in the watered down world. This venue is ok. If a bunch of friends told me to meet them there for a meal, I would go but otherwise I wouldn't return. I had Chicken Milanese. It came with a nice sized chicken breast. It was served on top of cold mashed potatoes. My wife had a burger that was ok but unremarkable. For an appetizer, we had a Gorgonzola and beef filled egg roll that was good. We ate with 2 other couples and nobody was overwhelmed by their food. If you're in the area, you might want to try it but if you don't, it's not a huge loss. read more

This was our fifth time here. We've been there for dinner a few times with our family when they visit. Love that they addressed the noise issue so much better now. They revamped their menu I miss the sheppards pie that was my favorite but yesterday while sitting at the bar for happy hour we decided to get the 2 appetizer specials. They were amazing their house made fish dip was delicious but their take on Shrimp and grits was a showstopper OMG. We usually get the egg rolls on the app list but decided to do the specials and they were great. Will definitely go back soon to try some new menu items or some of their specials again. First time at Tuohy's . I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The greeter and woman whom showed us to our seats were very pleasant. Our server was very nice. He never introduced himself, so I can't share that. He was great with explaining the specials, and I really liked that we could switch out side dishes. While he seemed very rushed with a bigger table, I noticed the Asian woman outside with a smile at every turn and very composed execution. That's not to take away from our server, he was very good. We really liked our food. Filet Gorgonzola Eggrolls were very good. They were super crunchy. I personally took out a little of the cheese as I thought it overpowered it a bit (my girlfriend liked the ratio of cheese). When I took some cheese out, I thought it was a 10. The salmon dish was really tasty. I asked for medium well, and it was medium, but still delicious. The creamed spinach was good, but would have preferred a bit more spinach to the ratio, but still liked it . The Baileys butter cream chocolate cake was a bit dry, but still ok. Lastly, the ambiance was nice having the option to eat outside or inside. We definitely will go back as we really did enjoy most of every bit of the experience. Oh my goodness.....probably one of the best hamburgers in all of Vero. I went for lunch with two friends. One had oysters, I don't remember what the other lady had, but I had this huge hamburger and fried. We ate outside on the pleasant covered patio with its fountain. The service was great. Actually, the owner came over to us and said to stay as long as we wanted and kept refilling our glasses. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. Will go back again. read more
