Guess I should've looked at the date of the reviews before I went. Maybe it was a 4+ at one point, but I didn't have anywhere near that. Service was ok. Nice enough, but not attentive. Coffee wasn't kept filled and had to grab silverware from another table so food wouldn't get cold. At one point the server filled one person's coffee cup at the table, left and never came back even though everyone else had empty cups as well. Didn't ask anyone, just poured it and left. Food and drinks were not good. Edible but wouldn't ever come back. We had a variety of meals because we had a large party. Not a single thing was remarkable in a good way. The two things that were exceptionally bad were the biscuits and gravy and veggie skillet. The gravy was bland and not creamy. The biscuit tasted and looked like it was a made from the freezer. The veggies in the skillet: undercooked onion, frozen spinach, canned mushrooms, ok fresh tomato. Just overall not good. Coffee tasted slightly above water and lukewarm. Decor was generic. I would equate this entire experience to an institutional meal at like a low grade retirement facility or something similar. read more

A really great family restaurant in Peru. My mom wanted to go here and I see why, there are good specials and a menu that has something for everyone. Mom got the taco salad special which was a huge serving for $12. A good scoop full of taco meat and lots of cheese. I got the vegetarian omelet with Monterey Jack cheese and a side of hash browns. I came here on Wednesday with my family. It wasn't very busy but the food was great. I ordered the French dip sandwich deluxe, which came with fries and chicken noodle soup. I did enjoy the sandwich, the meat was very tender and delicious. The soup definitely tasted homemade and I did like it. My mom had the mushroom and Swiss burger deluxe, she loved her food. My dad had a bacon cheeseburger deluxe and he loved his food. My fiancé had the Athenian skillet with toast and he loved his food as well. Everyone was full and happy. read more

I stopped for dinner around 5pm on a Wednesday. There were a few people in the restaurant, so they had a lot of tables open. I was seated right away. My server was very friendly and helpful. They have a very large menu, one so that anyone can find something to eat. I asked my server a couple of questions on her preferences and chose to order the French dip with cheese. My meal came out in approx. 5 min's, and everything was hot. The sandwich was a decent size and had a good flavor. The French fries were fat cut crinkle fries, and really good in crispness and flavor. If there was anything I would change, they could use a better au jus. What they served was a little bland. Well looking for a place to eat breakfast this morning. Checked Yelp and found the liberty family restaurant. It looks like one of those local restaurants, It should have good food and good service. So I decided to check it out. From everything I've seen, it looks great. From the menu I ordered eggs over medium with a ribeye steak. I am looking forward to enjoying the meal. Be sure to try American fries. They are awesome. The French toast looked yummy. I will have to remember to order to go. My girlfriend is sleeping in this morning Well just finished up an excellent breakfast staff is great friendly this is one of those local joints that the regulars come to have their debates about the Cubs baseball is a hot topic around here. I just about forgot to order Peg's French toast, which I'm waiting for an out as soon as that comes, taking our delicious breakfast back to the hotel room you should try the place highly recommend it. read more

We were getting hungry and remember the great experience we had at Liberty. We walked in and saw the todays special board featuring chicken rice soup and knew that I made the right choice. I decided try something different and ordered the fish sandwich. My guest ordered the 1/4 chicken and 1/3 ribs with home potatoes.We both had the chicken rice soup and they were outstanding! It is worth the extra dollar for upgrading to a bowl.My also ordered the French Silk pie which was very good. Definitely worth the second trip. I travel a lot and love to try local restaurants... have found some real gems. Wow... don't know how this restaurant could be rated so high! The cook clearly doesn't know how to cook omelettes, as both of the omelettes we ordered this morning were all brown instead of a nicely done omelette yellow. They boasted that they're home fries are better than the hash browns... they were definitely not. I swapped out my toast for a pancake, which was the best part of the breakfast. Wow! Great breakfast and my skillet choice was spot on! I loved that i asked for crispy hash browns and got them crispy! Yes!!! The price was very fair but know that this place get jammed on Sunday Mornings. There was a table of 12 and the server was attentive to our needs. There is ample parking in their lot and this restaurant is handicap accessible. Great for large groups or elderly patrons. The restroom are due for an update. Very much a family atmosphere... where everyone knows your name. Definitely one of the best or the best breakfast option in town. Plenty of parking as well. We initially passed Liberty because it looked too "cafeteria" so we went to Myrtle's who, looked the part but unfortunately didn't sell hot breakfast. So back to Liberty, which, despite its exterior, did not disappoint. We were seated quickly and given a friendly greeting. My sister was finally able to have her long awaited eggs Benedict and the rest of us got the hot coffee we were hoping for. There were plenty of breakfast options, about your average fare. Exactly what you would expect. Just like any family diner you've been to. A lot of old people running into people they've known for years. I'm not kidding i think i heard, "How are the grandkids?" about 5 or 6 times. Food was made with love but the recipes/ingredients used aren't spectacular. Had biscuits n gravy and a ham n cheese omelet. Both were really tasty, but definitely not the best I've ever had. My breakfast consisted of chicken fried steak, eggs over-medium, American fries, English muffin, hot cocoa REVIEW: - I asked the server if the steak was premade frozen or if they hand pound and bread them. She thought they are made fresh in back. It tastes like it. If it was frozen it's one of the best I've had. Surprisingly tender,good meaty texture, and tasty. - Sausage gravy: very thick, very potent sausage, a tad salty. I would recommend getting it on the side. - Eggs were perfect over-medium. Yolk somewhat firm but not dry and a tiny bit of runny. They weren't over cooked or extremely under cooked as often happens when requesting over-medium. - American fries: Perfectly cooked. Not at all greasy and the potatoes were soft enough to bite into but not mealy or over cooked. Kind of bland. I would recommend ordering onions in them. They definitely needed salt. - Hot cocoa: Excellent! Not "watery" as sometimes happens. Perfect amount of whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Went perfectly with the festive winter holiday vibe in the restaurant. Very affordable. My bill was about $13. Lori was my server. Very friendly. Fast and efficient. We eat here quite a bit for lunch. I've never been disappointed in a meal. The soups are good, especially the vegetable. All of the staff is friendly and welcoming.
