Sunday prix fixe brunch was an amazing experience--$44.95 for a three-course meal (appetizer, entrée, and dessert) is such a great deal given the quality and quantity of food with each course z The restaurant interior is stunning, with beautiful views overlooking the Hudson River. My husband went with the à la carte French toast accompanied with a fresh berry compote and homemade whip cream. The bread was a house-made challah bread . He said it was the best he's French toast he's ever had. Served with real maple syrup, which made it even better. The Bloody Marys were fantastic--perfectly spicy, with a noticeable kick of horseradish. The Bellini was just as delicious, and the coffee was served hot and full of flavor. I opted for the prix fixe menu . It was difficult to choose as there were many options to choose from. I decided on the mushroom risotto as a first course which was outstanding--perfectly creamy risotto topped either mushrooms and a delicate touch of annato oil that brought everything together beautifully. For my main course again, many options that I could've went with, but decided on the eggs Benedict with pork belly, and it was absolutely delicious. The eggs were poached perfectly, and the hollandaise sauce was rich and flavorful. The country, potatoes, sautéed with onions and red peppers, were so tasty, and the side salad with dressing was light and refreshing. I also loved that there were several protein options you could've chose from to go on top of the English muffin beneath the poached eggs. We were too full to enjoy dessert there, but we took it home--an apple cheesecake dress with caramel sauce, and that same homemade whipped cream . Since we were taking it home, we forgo'd the vanilla ice cream which also came with this dessert . The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive--water glasses were refilled without asking, and plates were cleared promptly. The space also features a beautiful large bar and an outdoor patio, which I can't wait to come back and enjoy. Lots of parking in the surrounding and immediate areas and free on Sundays. read more

I do not understand the appeal of this place, yet for some reason it seems to be a popular pick for special ocassion lunches near my office. Sure, ok, it is a nice looking space, but that is where it ends for me. I have been at least 5 times and while none were memorable this last one was really awful. As someone who likes to eat there is nothing worse than ordering something for a special treat that ends up being "not worth it." I ordered the soup and sandwich off the lunch menu - truffle grilled cheese, how could you wrong? What I expected - a decadent, buttery, melty sandwich. What I got- two heels of bread dry as a desert with a thick hunk of cheese that was not even fully melted throughout. The soup was not terrible in comparison but needed salt. This was our 23rd anniversary dinner. We drove down from upstate Connecticut to eat here, but was disappointed, primarily with the service. Our server, a woman, late 30s, with squarish smart glasses wasn't very personable or attentive. Gave me curt answer when I asked about something, and never checked if our food came out okay, or ask if we wanted refills. Pretty much disappeared after she took our order. Her main priority was that 6-top in my photos, right across from our table, that essentially sucked her attention away from us. Pizza was pretty good. A great appetizer. The burger was well-cooked and pretty tasty as well. The bacon had a great porky taste, but was a little hard to chew, and the fries were limp and cold. I mean come on, people. What's up with not being able to make a simple burger and fry dish? Last, the venison was overcooked, chewy, and overtaken by peppercorns that robbed the meat of its subtle flavor. My husband had to sit there and cut away all the pieces of pepper around the edge. Could have been prepared much better. Mashed potatoes were good. Brussels sprouts completely unremarkable. This is one vegetable that can easily be aided by bacon, or onions, something sweet, Or, just even cooked in a more imaginative way. A very flat dish. Stopped in for dinner while on a buisness trip. My clients suggest as a place for the three of us to have dinner. I started off with an old-fashioned, which was nicely created. I had the wedge salad for my pre-entrée meal and then had the Colossal Lump Crabmeat Cake entrée which was nicely done. If you like being totally ignored by the staff, if you like waiting a half hour to be served after placing your order, if you like calling the hostess over to ask what was going on with your order and never getting the courtesy of a response, if like being careful as to how you order due to dietary restrictions and having your meal prepared incorrectly so you send it back in frustration and say just cancel it and bring the check, if you like not being asked by any staff why you cancelled things and were upset... I've never left a review before, but this was the worst dining experience I've had - made worse by my vegetarian sister becoming violently ill and vomiting for the entire ride home after eating here, likely from either the carrots (which we were told were served hot out the oven even though they were served cold or a Bloody Mary she was assured was vegetarian and contained no Worcestershire sauce (not vegetarian) but tasted like it did. We went for Mother's Day brunch with a prix fixe menu, so we expected streamlined service. Instead, we waited an hour and a half for cold appetizers, which arrived unevenly and clearly sat before being brought out. Simple dishes like oysters, lox, and carrots were delayed or served cold after being told they were "still in the oven." After appetizers, we waited another 45 minutes with no entrees in sight. Multiple tables were experiencing the same delays, and we ultimately had to leave without ever receiving our main courses. Our waitress was kind and doing her best, but the issue clearly came down to severe understaffing and poor kitchen execution during a major holiday service. My advice to the restaurant: if you're going to offer a holiday prix fixe menu, you need to ensure your kitchen / bar is properly staffed and able to execute service safely and efficiently.... or else people WILL get sick. read more

It was one of the worst experiences we all ever have had and it totally ruined the day. The food was a step above inedible as if it was frozen food that was just microwaved without any taste. The service was horiffic. We sat there for almost 4 hours. Our waitress told us 6 times how the kitchen was "backed up" even though the resturant was only half full. Do not let the website FOOL you. I returned to Rivermarket 3 years after I had my 60th birthday celebration at this place. I was a bit annoyed by some of the issues that occurred at my birthday dinner for 12 guests that I have boycotted what had been a favorite of mine. I decided to let bygones be bygones as my wife really likes this place. I felt they had lost the early magic that they had which to me was sad as they were probably a top 10 Westchester restaurant. Mrs. O and I sat at the bar and we had apps and drinks on a recent Friday night. There were a few celebrations taking place nearby- a pre-wedding dinner for 40 and a corporate dinner for 15 what looked like engineers but the bar was nearly vacant. Drinks are expertly crafted here so we were off to a good start. The ambiance and decor has always been pleasing there and that has not changed. It's a tad expensive but what isn't these days on the culinary scene? We ordered mussels, tuna tartare and Brussels sprouts. All of the food items were very good but the mussels could only be described as tiny and dried out. It's a shame because the broth and bread served was excellent. A pumpkin cheesecake with ice cream for dessert was glorious. One of the byproducts of a place such as Rivermarket is great cocktails and probably homemade desserts. So after a 3 year hiatus our return visit was deemed a success. There is amply parking on the backside of the restaurant so no need to valet park. read more

So this is an interesting place with a good location. Plenty of parking and across from the Tarrytown recreation center which has a nice path along the Hudson River. They offer both indoor and patio seating. The portion sizes are great. Pricing a little bit on the high side, but overall a good value. Nice feel to the place. Service was okay. When I presented staff with my displeasure, they said everything is served by order number and we have a seating area outside also. There is ZERO excuse. It's not like Mother's Day was a surprise. They have plenty of time to prepare. It's unfortunate because the appetizer was delicious but when you have two elderly people and an 11 month old in your party, it IS unacceptable. This place isn't what it used to be, and I'd heard as much before going today, but it was convenient at the time. Went for brunch with family. We had an omelette, (room temperature) waffles with a side of bacon, and an iceberg wedge salad with a side of grilled chicken. All of the food, along with the coffee, was simply just mediocre, and my brother's side of grilled chicken for his salad (which cost more than the salad itself) was a vomit-inducing $18!!! Our server tried to justify this by telling us, straightfaced, "But it's free range chicken". Hilarious, as was the nearly $100 check. A hodge podge of different items from classic burgers and pizza to eclectic salmon belly, tuna tar tar... my friend LOVES the clam zuppa with squid ink linguine. I had the steak and eggs. The vibe is American steakhouse /Gastropub with a slightly contemporary hotel feel. The inside is large and spacious with modern banquettes as well as a very large sit down bar area. We chose to sit at the bar and our bartender was informative and capable. In terms of dinner, we ordered oysters, steak, and a small salad. All of the food was well prepared and very fresh, but nothing overly memorable. As per a large bar and restaurant, it had many drink items and we stuck to fairly straightforward wines and beers. Perfectly Situated in a beautiful residential community. We came in a quiet Tuesday afternoon. Only few were here so we got a beautiful indoor spot. Our server was the only one helping everybody but still find time to give us the service we were expecting. Got a good cocktails, strong enough to wake me up in this lazy afternoon. Was here for dinner on a Saturday night and the place had a nice ambiance. The inside and patio were mostly full but we still received timely and kind service. I ordered the chicken burger and our table had the market salad, truffle fries, Brussel sprouts, and spinach to share as appetizers (we were a party of seven and finished most of the food). The sauce they were in, amazing! The tuna tartare was good with large pieces of tuna. I ordered the Green Herb Pappardelle and it was fabulous! But the nicest thing was dessert. I'd bought our own traditional dessert for the birthday girl. There was a "serving/cutting fee" per person, but when the dessert was served, it had been additionally dressed with a scoop of ice cream and fresh berries. It was absolutely lovely! The bolognese that came with it wasn't well-seasoned nor was the meatball. Ordered the brownie at the waiter's recommendation and it was hard, as though it had sat out for a few days uncovered. Didn't eat but one bite. I went here with a group, and other than the pizza, I don't see myself ordering anything else if I'm joining others for dinner. We ordered the chicken...unfortunately it was cooked unevenly,one half was rubbery the other fell off the bone.. Ambiance not bad. Visited the Rivermarket with some Family back this past October. Heard some mixed reviews...but I wanted to give it a shot. The parking was a little tricky...but found a couple open spaces around the corner. The ambiance of this place was awesome! The wood and stone look was very rustic and right up my alley. There was a decent sized menu to choose from(not too big...not too small) with some dishes that you don't see too often. The food itself was a bit overpriced. Honestly...it was tasty, but nothing I would really go back for. The service was the bigger issue. The wait staff was friendly enough...but honestly not very attentive. Very long wait for both appetizers and an even longer wait for the entrees. At that point...we didn't even bother with dessert/coffee. When it came time to pay the bill...I had to go track the waitress down because she was nowhere to be found. Nice, pretty place overall...but between parking, food, pricing and service...I'd say it's mediocre at best. read more

Julie made the planning process incredibly easy--she helped us secure the room, select the menu and even created a personalized day-of menu that matched our theme perfectly. On the day of the event, Evelyn and the entire staff provided outstanding service. They were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything ran smoothly, from drinks to each course. The food was excellent--starting with the beautifully presented hors d'oeuvres, all the way through the meal (choice of entree was salmon, hanger steak or fettuccini primavera) and ending with delicious desserts. Our guests truly enjoyed the day - the atmosphere was fun, welcoming, and perfect for celebrating such a special occasion.
