The service is beyond amazing when your server is actually at the table however it seems like they are under staffed by how long it takes for your waiter to come to your table. For example it can take up to 15-30 minutes for your waiter to acknowledge you again just for you to ask for a drink or water refill. Not my first time here and won't be my last. Every restaurant can have an "off day". I think my family walked into one last night. I will work my way backward. The ambiance of Chat is charming, inside and out. We were seated a little earlier than our reservation (7pm). The hostess and I presume manager were all smiles upon arrival and promptly seated us. Our server was also all smiles and attentive. After spending a week in London and getting attention to so many details at the table, I now expect a little more and she delivered. I only wish that she asked about any allergies. Now to the meals: our party of 4 ordered the short ribs, the bacon wrapped meatloaf, the salmon and the BBQ ribs. The presentation on all the dishes were stellar! Now comes the sticky part. The short ribs were a bit dry. Sitting on a nice bed and brussels which were very good, you just want the ribs to melt in your mouth. The salmon was cooked to perfection, but lacked restaurant quality seasoning that will bring you out. The meatloaf and the BBQ ribs were spectacular, though! The sauce on the meatloaf was amazing and the sauce on those "slip off the bone" ribs was tangy sweet! OMG. So all in all, with prices the way they are nowadays, you want the most expensive items (shorties and salmon) to deliver top notch. Unfortunately ours didn't. We will return but I hope the restaurant management will pass this on to the kitchen, so when we return, the "Chat" will be 5 star! read more

Well that was disappointing. We had lunch. Friday afternoon. Porch. Very nice. It was about 3/4 full when we arrived but was completely full by the time we left. We use burgers as a litmus test. Here we got "The Burger." It's a burger with a bunch of stuff thrown on top. Comes with fries. $22. A bit pricey, but let's see! Mediocre best describes it. We've had many better, and cheaper, examples elsewhere in southern Westchester. The toppings were tasteless. The fries? More than mediocre. Or less, depending on how you're looking at it. It's like they weren't even trying, serving them on the plate in a paper container like you'd get at Red Rooster up on Route 22. A sign that the kitchen has just given up? My wife and I each ordered "The Burger." She got a pickle. I didn't. Of course, if I wanted to point this out, Arlo Guthrie style I couldn't. See below. We each ordered wines. $15. A bit pricey and they were fine. I needed a refill of my water. Spoiler: I didn't get it. After we ordered, someone dropped off our (did I mention mediocre?) burgers and fries, and someone came when we were finished to clear the table. But no one asked how things were or whether we needed anything. A guy I took to be the owner or manager was waltzing around the porch but didn't approach us. The restaurant is really cozy (literally) as they have a fireplace in the back which is so nice, but the ambiance is really nice here. We only sat at the bar for drinks. There were plenty of windows around. We tried the "Brazilian Cosmo" and the "Hot To Trot" and then ended with Espresso Martinis. I gave this place a chance one more time and I'm done. The most disappointing experience once again. This time I will not give anymore chances. The place is way too expensive for the most subpar food. The burger which was the only edible thing here previously had absolutely no flavor, they charge you $3 for cheese and give a tiny portion of French fries. For a $23 burger it is absolutely mediocre. Anything else I've had here I would not even feed to my dog. Very disappointed to waste money here again. Also must add. I had to throw out half of my burger since I was harassed by bees and they did not even discount it although I could not eat it. Chat American grill in Scarsdale deserves a 10 for real estate. The outdoor space is beautiful. Don't accept a table near the outdoor exit. Diners will be standing on top of you waiting to exit to the sidewalk. Take any other outdoor table. Our waiter was wonderful. The young woman who brought us the bread basket was also very friendly. The salmon burgers were not good. Neither were the chips. The salads looked good. Not sure we'll return but I'd get a salad next time if we do. The cheeseburger was huge. It came with good fries. A really spacious location with both outdoor and indoor seating. Chat has a calm ambiance with an upscale but not too stuffy tone. I've been three times before and have always enjoyed the meals. I believe their menu has changed from summer to winter so my previous food thoughts may be obsolete. Entrees: The lobster roll is good but not enough lobster for the price. The shrimp pasta is delicious but heavy with the cream sauce. The beyond burger is delicious. Very light yet flavorful. We subbed for sweet potato fries and that was the right decision. Appetizers: The chicken wings are really good. Soft chicken and crispy skin. The carrots and celery that comes with are fresh. The spinach artichoke dip is delicious. The cheese on top pairs perfectly although it is a bit salty. The tuna tartare was really good with avocado on top and crispy chips on the side. The fish was fresh and added a nice element to the overall meal. Went for a 5 mile walk with my family and decided to go to a nice dinner as a reward. I do like the restaurant itself and the vibe usually but I always thought the menu needs an update . Me and my brother in law ordered salads and we added chicken , I added grilled chicken and my brother in law ordered breaded chicken , when they brought the salads both had grilled chicken , my salad had apples and one wasn't cored properly. My sister ordered the burger and that was really good and our friend ordered simple pasta with marinara . Btw adding the chicken to the salad is an extra $12 and it's four small pieces of cold rubbery flavorless chicken, extremely disappointing. We came here tonight to celebrate my MIL's birthday on the early side of a Saturday evening in charming Scarsdale. Again, the food and service were much better than I expected based on the previous Yelp reviews here. Perhaps they had an off night or random perpetual disgruntled client. Anyway, for starters, we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious crab cake appetizers and assorted creative salads. For our entrees, our merry party of five enjoyed the seared to perfection scallops with ratatouille, grilled medium rare salmon filets with arugula salad, turkey burger with perfect crispy delicious matchstick fries. The creme brûlée and the banana split with hot fudge for dessert, served with hot frothy cappuccinos all made a perfect ending to our petit celebration. I've been to this restaurant many times with friends and family. It's excellent. The food, drinks, service and overall vibe is perfect. My standards for these sorts of things is pretty high and bougie (sue me). The staff is very friendly and the manager always comes to ask our table how things are going - not just to us, but pretty much every table, from what I've observed. The crowd is pleasant. Mostly families or young adult couples on a date. They have high chairs for young kids, and a very comfortable and attractive outdoor patio dining space. If I had to find something to suggest they do to improve things, it would be for them to add a waffle to the brunch menu - but that's my personal preference because I tend to like waffles more than French toast. read more

They forgot a few things even though I asked for it 3 times and never received it. It was a slow night so not sure why they can't get their act together. Chicken sandwich had no flavor. The chicken meat itself was low quality. The artichoke salad had awful cheap apple slices and even worse prosciutto. I think they got it from Costco or Sam's club. Ambiance is nice but food quantity is inferior to other restaurants and given the prices they charge it's a real disappointment. I love this place. My wife and I ate there last Friday and we'll be coming back soon. Chat has a flair of elegance in addition to their long bar and spacious dining area. Scarsdale Village is a rife with European restaurants so Chat is an awesome option. I had their meatloaf which was perfectly cooked and seasoned with a nice Pinot Noir. Meatloaf can be risky to order being that some places may make it too dry. Chat nailed it to perfection. The service was on par with the best restaurants I've ever attended.
