WOW where to start. My Family usually cooks every holiday because we never seem to find a place to eat that is worth it. This year we decided to do something a little different and try out River's Bend "Special" brunch buffet. Which you can't find a price for anywhere you look. I heard it was so amazing that I needed to make reservations months ahead. Not only was this the worst meal we have ever experienced eating out we ordered mimosas but apparently they were "bottomless" which we didn't know until we got our bill. These so called bottomless mimosas were all orange juice and maybe we had 1 chance to ask for another one. So we basically paid $25 for one 6oz mimosa. We have been to Rivers Bend a few times in the last month (when we were traveling thru GB) and the food, atmosphere and staff have all been amazing! We have been faithful Rivers Bend customers since their original opening and it is now better than ever! We will continue to be faithful customers when we are in town. After one really positive dinner experience and a few positive brunch reviews from friends, we made a reservation for Mother's Day at noon. I can't tell you how excited I was because I saw the banner advertising carving, omelet, and dessert stations along with my favorite -- the bottomless mimosa. I have to admit my expectations were soaring when I got there due to the number of people that were seated and waiting. The hostess sat my family at a lovely table facing outside, and I couldn't wait to get started. When the waitress arrived at our table, she immediately removed the coffee saucers, and I asked why. She said that they were inadvertently placed there because coffee was not included with the buffet. I paused for a moment because normally coffee is included in a brunch buffet, but since she told us, I figured I was making an informed decision when I ordered it anyway. I thought that maybe because they included the mimosa's they didn't want people to order too many free drinks. I also ordered 4 additional mimosa's and two orange juices for our table and headed to the buffet. The buffet had a small salad bar, and two lines with the exact same food: plain scrambled eggs, scrambled with other things in it, bacon, sausage sticks, ham slices, hash browns, and french toast sticks as the breakfast items; and beef tips, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, dinner rolls, and shrimp cocktail as the lunch/dinner items. There was also a Prime Rib carving station, and a table with an assortment of about five - seven dessert "bars" like lemon, apple walnut, etc. I was immediately taken back by the fact that there was no omelet station as advertised, and I didn't see any pastries, muffins, or bread such as croissants or bagels. It was literally the smallest brunch buffet I have ever seen! I started with breakfast food and really only thought that the bacon was truly cooked well -- the eggs were overcooked, the hash browns undercooked, and the ham was tough and dry. I ate the bacon and most of the eggs and decided to try some Prime Rib. I watched as the man at the carving station gave my mother-in-law a very thin slice so I asked if I could have a slightly thicker slice on my plate. While he did slice it a bit thicker (1/4" vs. 1/8"), he cut my piece in half and plopped half on m plate. I went back to the table completely dismayed. This was supposed to be my GREAT treat for the day, and everywhere I turned I was disappointed. NOW COMES THE ICING ON THE CAKE! My husband asked for another mimosa, and the waitress said that they were not doing the bottomless mimosa's today because they needed to serve so many people that it would be impossible to do. WHAT?????? We got the bill soon after and not only was the coffee not included, but neither were the orange juices or the mimosas which added up to $40 extra dollars and no refills on the mimosa. WHAT????? I just had to say something, so I asked to speak with a manager, and the owner arrived at our table. He said, "Does someone here have a problem?" When I told him that while our first experience here was wonderful, this was just about the worst I encountered. HE THEN CALLED ME A "JERK." He said that he would "stand by his food" since I was the only one who had ever complained. I will conclude with this: I believe that when you advertise something, you are obligated to provide it unless you are very clear about the circumstances up front (e.g. what is and is not available prior to sitting down and ordering as well as the associated cost on a menu that you are given). Glad to see that River's Bend is back. Decor reminds me of some fine dining restarurants I've been in. If you go here, DO order the steak(s). I made a mistake and ordered the pasta primavera with Marinara. If the sauce was made it had no flavour, like hints of garlic & basil. It was as if the tomatoes were put through a food mill, heated up a put over pasta. The other choice for sauce was Alfredo which I don't care for. Companion had the Ribeye and was cooked to perfection & delicious. Our server (female) was a little ditzy. We went for Restaurant Week, haven't been there in 15+ years. The remodel is beautiful! The owner was very friendly, relaxed, walking around interacting with customers. Let me start by saying I have been going to Rivers Bend for probably 40 years. I've seen owners come and go and this last owner has been amazing! We have not seen him in the last several visits and it's starting to show. First off what we love: the atmosphere is fantastic, the Edge Water room is absolutely the best setting, the bar is always hopping, the salad bar is incredible, and the staff are usually fabulous. This past time we went our experience was very sub par. My wine glass came out sticky and you could feel things on it-I did not send it back but said to my brother "if I get sick this week, it will be from this wine glass". It was gross and the silverware was also kind of gross. So you could tell cleanliness was taking a backseat probably because of staff shortages. I get it, but it's not acceptable. My baked French onion soup had no flavor whatsoever. Literally none! Switch to gruyere cheese and some butter and garlic and you won't have that problem. I had it at another restaurant a few weeks ago and it was incredible. This was a huge disappointment. My brother's liver and onions was dry but he said it had good flavor, but didn't compare to another area restaurant. The broasted chicken was also not a hit with too much breading. There was some confusion with the chicken order and I don't blame the waitress for the problem, but the way she responded was not appropriate either. My dad didn't handle the situation very well either, the waitress never started out very nice or overly friendly and eventually rolled her eyes and walked away when we asked for what we ordered. I understand they're overwhelmed and overworked, but I saw many bubbly friendly waitstaff that night and she was not one of them. To the point my dad didn't want to leave a tip but I insisted he did. The assistant manager came to the table and she was outstanding. Exactly what you expect in customer service!! My husband and I came here for dinner and during restaurant week. While the staff was very nice the food was not what was promised or worth the $. I ordered a steak medium rare and it was medium if not well. The sauce and vegetable that came with it was salt water salty. He ordered the chicken and it was over done so over done that he could barely cut or chew it. Then it was barely seasoned maybe a hint of Rosemary and garlic but lacked flavor. For me it was more reminiscent of a red lobster or Olive Garden with more disappointment. At least at the chains you know what you are getting yourself into. Maybe it was due to the rush but it still took an hour to get our entrees. The table next to us complained of similar issues and even called to owner over to the table. A solid supper club experience - four stars for the attentiveness of the owner and staff. The new renovations look great, especially in the bar area. I'm not sure if they do any happy hour specials, but they should in order to fill up their bar a bit. I tried the walleye and while the rest of the meal (salad bar, bread and potatoes) were all tasty, the walleye itself was not. When the owner came around to check on everything I was honest and gave my feedback on the fish. He asked some questions, spoke with the chef and made up a new piece with some different breading. It's always appreciated and refreshing to see an owner so involved and in tune with feedback. I normally do not write a review. The only times I share my thoughts is when something is really wonderful or when they are terrible. I understand that times are tough right now with distribution and staffing. I had been wanting to try this place for a long time. So I went with 2 friends today and was so disappointed. The food was okay. I think the buffet at Home Town Cafe was just as good quality snd much cheaper. When I think of brunch I think that it should be above your typical breakfast. This was not. They say they have bottomless Mimosas for an extra $10.00. So all 3 of us got mimosas. I asked if they were pre made because I do not like them pre made because there is usually all OJ and hardly any champagne. She said well I have to make a new carafe so I will just put less OJ in. Perfect! Well the first glass was fine seemed to be equal mix of OJ and Champagne. We asked for another and they were literally all OJ. Since we couldn't find our waitress for over 20 min we asked the host if we could get more champagne in the OJ and she said, "Oh it doesn't look like it, but there is a good amount champagne in there." I'm not a moron and have had many mimosas in my life to know that was not accurate. So still not being able to find our waitress I went to speak with the manager by the bar. I explained that our drinks had basically no champagne and just a glass of OJ and asked if we could have more champagne in ours. She told me that she could not because they are made in the back by the owner. I told her well our waitress made our first one and it was good, so it's a lie that she could t do anything. She asked what table we were at and disappeared. Very rude and not helpful. After waiting for another 10 min our waitress came with 2 more glasses of OJ. She said that we could buy a bottle of Champagne fir $16.00. I should have just done that if I would have known that there $10 bottomless mimosas are just OJ, but we were done eating by then. Do not advertise bottomless mimosas if you are just serving bottomless OJ and charging people $10.00 for it. It was an okay meal not worthy of the word brunch with shitty service. Came here with my boyfriend. He had the half rack of ribs... I had the ahi tuna. Everything cooked perfectly. Great food, great staff. Beautifully renovated. The owner introduces himself to the guests and AJ, our server was great and very attentive. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family. And i will definately be back. read more

I had the best prime rib dinner tonight at Rivers Bend! The ambiance is elegant, new and fresh feel. Granite bar serves the best cocktails, thanks to Steve. Best martinis and old fashions in town. Blackened salmon was delicious and rice pilaf seasoned with herbs and carrots completed the dish. Update on River's Bend. The decor is very nicely updated. The food is mediocre at best, tasteless and low grade meats. The salad bar that the former was noted for is minimal and usually needs restocking. The prices are too high for Green Bay. The bartenders ignore you. The view is lovely and I will admit that lunch was decent and in todays price range. The do have live music on certain nights. Finally, thank God it is not a sports bar. read more

You have to carefully time when you visit this place, because it can be ridiculously busy--no food, no drinks for you! That's because so many folks in the area want to eat their dinner at 5:30 or 6. If you went at 8, it would not be a problem.When it's not so busy, the staff are usually very friendly. My husband also loves the seafood buffet with all the crab legs. I like to just order off the menu--steak or chicken, I've also had the perch plate, which was really good. It's basically a nicer supper club menu. I absolutely love how beautiful this place is and where it's setting is... I've been going there for many years. Just recently started going back and I'm not having a good time with finding good food there. Ordered chicken the other day and it was $18 a dish and the chicken was dry! I did let them know and they were gracious enough to tell me they would bring me a new chicken and then they forgot to bring it. So they did take it off my bill. Although my husband ordered the perch and it was also rubbery and seemed old. Ours friends commented on the perch also. I was in Green Bay for a golf tournament a week or so ago and a local recommended Rivers Bend. I got the beef stroganoff which was very, very good and my wife got the filet which she enjoyed very much. The wait and bar staff were very friendly. Nice views too. We just went for the Thanksgiving buffet. Extremely small table set up with little to choose from. Mushy gooey dressing, runny sweet potatoes. Didn't get to try the green bean casserole because it was completely empty with nothing to replace it. Tiny salad bar with brown lettuce. First time there: we called ahead for reservations on a busy Friday night and were taken right to our beautiful table right by the windows overlooking the water. It got dark quickly, but ambience was nice! Our waiter was Collin and he was great! The place really started to get packed after we sat down and between that and the rush of orders to the kitchen, the service was a little slower. However, given how nice Collin was and the quality of the food, a little delay was worth it! Who wants to rush through dinner anyway. Started off with the salad bar and let me say the Hot Bacon dressing is everything I've read about and more. Delicious! Well stocked salad bar too, I was impressed. I heard so much about the crab cakes too and we tried them. Very good! Slightly disappointed that the price didn't yield at least a 3rd cake, but again, they were tasty so I didn't mind. Water glasses were kept full all evening, which is a major plus. For our entrée, I got the bourbon glazed salmon (really good!) and my fiancé got the filet mignon. What a big steak and perfectly cooked. (I had to try some!) It came time for dessert and we chose to get some coffee and split a piece of cake. Collin said dessert was on him, which he really didn't have to do since we were happy anyway. Highly disappointed. Waited for our table for 30 minutes past our reservation. Once seated it took 30 minutes to get the drinks we ordered. I ordered the Chilean sea bass and it was clear that it was cooked from frozen, it was over done on the ends and completely raw and cold on the inside. My sister in law ordered the New York strip medium well, however it was cold and red on the inside. When we told the waitress, her remedy for the situation was to give us 1 dessert which we declined. The food and service was delicious! Although, I went for the Saturday Night Prime Rib special, and by 7:45pm they had already sold out. The waitress told me they regularly sell out of the Prime Rib entree by about that time every Saturday. If that's the case, they should prep more as the restaurant is open until 10pm Saturday nights, and that dish is clearly a big seller! I had the porterhouse instead, which was cooked M/R perfectly and I ended up taking about half the steak home. Overall a solid dining experience, and I'll be back again! read more

I have gone to the Rivers Bend many times over the last 30 years so I took my wife there for our 37th wedding anniversary and I was very disappointed with the food , especially the steaks. I ordered a NY Strip and as I was finishing my salad the waitress showed up telling me they were sold out, Well I settled for what I was told was a "Rib Eye" and my wife has a "Sirloin" and to my surprise the came out looking like the same cut of meat and the waitress explained to my wife that the fat on the edge of her steak showed the difference. ... WHATTTTT? We tried to call to complain the next day since the manager had left for the evening already at 8:30pm so we called 5 or 6 times over the next few days and when we couldn't reach the Manager we asked for the owner and the person said there aren't any owners just managers, that are rude and uncaring.
