So this is my first time here traveling through for the holidays, I live in Reno Nevada where there's heavy gaming regulations on RTP (return to player). First time at this casino. I had a flight to catch and decided to stop in before leaving. The reason I gave this casino 3 star rating was, I ordered a margarita with salted rim and olives. I know odd combination. When the hostess came to drop off my drink. I had my tip ready. When I gave her the tip, she mentions that the drink at this casino were $10! I was like what! I gave her the $10. Lesson learned. The drink i received was a good sized tall glass. It tasted great and I had a lot of olives. The casino is very clean and so are the bathrooms. Best casino I've been to. No indoor smoking which I love but allowed in designated smoking areas with heat. Beautifully designed it's like a new world in each of the various sections. I had a very bad experience at Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, IL. The security staff was terrible and didn't bother to assess the situation, where there were a victim and offender and the victim was kicked out. My wife and I were in the bar area from 930 pm on and the tables in the bar area can be reserved for 300 dollars and the company we were with had done so. At about 11pm my wife and I stepped away for about 10 min and when we returned to our table, we had other folks at the table who were not with our party, and they marked our seats with purse and jacket. We nicely asked them to remove their stuff because that was our table, note we had folks who were part of our party at the table. They removed their stuff, but you can see they were upset, they then proceeded to dance on the dance floor close to where we were sitting. The man was moving his arms around nearly hitting my wife, my wife then went to the washroom, the man turns towards me and got really close to my face and i said "what's up" the man responded "Are you having a good time" "don't you want to have a good time" I responded sure but get out of my face! The man said few more things and spray while he spoke!! This escalation causes me to say that this is OUR TABLE. We were yelling back and forth and I had the louder voice and Security told me to leave without getting my side of the incident! Security demanded I leave immediately, and they were in the process of physically removing me until I said that I am not leaving until my wife returns from the washroom. When she returned, they followed us through the whole casino which was upstairs and walked with us to the door. Mean while the offender was still at the bar again took our seats, we know this because some of our party was still there. In closing, Security didn't give me the time of day and they went on the side of the attacker and made me out to be the one at fault! Security made their conclusion to kick me out of rivers. The frog bar restaurant has absolutely great food and ambience. There is a Starbucks coffee bar and they have smoking rooms. It gets crowded on Friday & Saturday. They have other restaurants and two bars. The only thing is I do not enjoy playing their slot machines. Money goes in with no return 99 percent of the time for me. So many bright colorful lights everywhere and somehow as crowded as it seemed, it was quite quiet inside. There were full tables and many people at the video gaming machines all looking like they were having so much fun. The parking surface lot was not too crowded and there is a garage for additional parking. The second floor has a covered walkway into the casino. The security guards check ID's for under age gambling. There is food options inside and a very good Gibson brand Hugo Frogs Restaurant inside that is upscale great bistro steakhouse dining. The gaming machines are scattered around and if you are looking for a particular type of machine, there are plenty of employees walking the floor to give you directions. It was a fun experience and I would definitely return to do a little gambling and eating again. read more

Stopped in on a work trip. Hit the craps and blackjack tables. Dealers were friendly and tables were well run. This was a weekday so little less crowded. Took a beating in craps went to blackjack table and won a couple hundred. Beers were $6 a piece. Waitresses were attentive. For those who wonder about how much table games are it varies on the level of players and timing. If your looking for great rates go really early in the morning or after 11pm for best rates. We actually normally have a blast at Rivers, it's clean, plenty of free parking, the games are fun, the drinks are great, and 99% of the time the staff is really awesome. However on Saturday March 23rd, we went to the Casino to hang out and play for a bit at about 10:00pm. My boyfriend went to play Craps and I was blown away at how rude one particular worker was. I wish I had grabbed his name, he was a younger black guy running it but he was so incredibly rude! This particular table itself wasn't busy yet unlike some of the other tables and a few moments after coming to the table my boyfriend pulled out $300 and asks the worker, "Can I get some chips?" My boyfriend didn't yell it or anything so the workers response blew me away- he goes, "I don't know, can you?" My boyfriend has anxiety so he just gave a nervous laugh then the worker rolls his eyes and hands him chips. It was so weird and uncomfortable because we've always had a positive experience with the workers there. I immediately whispered to his ear that maybe we should go to another table but he wanted to stay since this table wasn't crowded unlike the others. However this workers snark continued, he continuously sighed and rolled his eyes throughout the games and even through his hands in the air with another eye roll when he couldn't understand someone's accent next to us. I can't believe Rivers lets someone get away with this behavior. I can understand someone having a bad day but this clearly wasn't a bad day, this was just a snarky attitude. I really hope someone else caught his name and definitely reports him. Let's just hope he doesn't pull that behavior with others who don't have anxiety because if he does that again on someone else, especially if they've been drinking, I can definitely see an altercation happening. I don't really expect Rivers to care though, this guy pulled this attitude on the entire table so I'm sure his coworkers saw as well but blew it off. read more

They are so tight that you can't win a thing. Lost so much in 2 hours! Their video poker machines barely work. Very limited in kinds of poker games. If you are dealt a 3 of a kind you will never get the 4th. They for sure have set the machines to pay out at a very low minimum. The owners of the casino should be ashamed! Far and away the friendliest casino experience I've ever had. From the wonderful lady at the players club desk to the craps dealers, everyone was more than just professional - they were kind - not a word I typically associate with casino employees. They seemed excited when I won and a little disappointed when I lost. Slots were looser than I expected, and the craps table I was at was an absolute blast. I can only speak for the slots. I've been to Rivers Casino twice in the past year. In between visits, I've been to Reno, Las Vegas, and a few Indian Casinos in California. I was complaining to someone in security that I've never even had the cheap thrill of a few really good hits on any of the slots there and always leave feeling used up, dried out, and not happy. The security person agreed with me 100%. The person said that "you hardly ever hear all the bells and whistles going off here like you do at other casinos." And about once a month you'll see maintenance staff moving a number of machines out that were probably a little too loose for the Casino's liking. They also said that their parents were seasoned slot players and won't go near the the place. Is it bad juju-karma or are they setting the slots at the lowest legal percentage payout? The last thing they mentioned was that, as security, they had to be in attendance at any payouts over $2k--which, they said, is very, very, seldom--much less often than other casinos they've worked at in the past. The only reason I give Rivers two stars is because of the Hugo's Frog Bar and Fish Bar located inside. I don't go to Casino's for food, drink, or entertainment. I rate them according to how lucky I get on the slots (I don't mean constant jackpots, just a good run, where I'm having a good time). But Hugo's is good enough to get this dump an extra star. read more
