I always love going here! Even though the minimums are $25 a table at night almost every night. This is not why I'm giving this 1 star. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE is why! Now i'm no dummy i realize they truly don't give a crap what 1 person such as myself thinks because the place is packed (i get that). Heres a story about their fine customer service. A buddy of mine and I play Carribean Stud Poker (worst odds in casino I know). We ALWAYS put in $100 each for a total of $200. We then have one of us sit and the other watches. We never share info on what other players have ETC... If I or He folds three hands in a row...we simply switch and the other will sit down and play. Now we each put in $100 So its both of our money. So on this day We were up probably $150 when the Pit Boss who i will not name...lets just say her and her bull dyke haircut probably hates men. Anywho she comes over and says your not allowed to switch off like that. I said ok and asked her if this is a rule. She states to me that "you just can't switch players like that". I then state that we have been doing this for like 4 years. Her response was "HA we haven't been open for 4 years".(mind you in a super snotty voice). OK OK lady listen if you can show me in the rules where it says we can't i will be happy to stop. She stated that its company policy. I said to her i understand and asked if she could show me the policy. I reminded her that we in no way are cheating, it doesn't change the order of cards nor does it decrease the houses major advantage over the players. This apparently was to much for her and she just stated we need to stop or just leave. I said to her ya know you wonder why this place gets destroyed on every website about customer service its because of stuff like this. I then grabbed my chips and stated I know you don't care cause my seat will just be taken by some other degenerate and thats that. I dont understand what happened to customer service the dealer even said that we shouldn't leave and to please stay cause our table was having a great time. BTW our dealer AVO! That would explain a lot what is happening in this casino. For example, why slot machines do not pay percentage they advertise. At other casinos, slot machines with lower payout percentage pay more and more often than river's casino slot machines that advertise higher payout percentage. Went to River's Casino today with my mom. Mind you last time I was here was last year, but to my surprise River's Casino informed me that someone was using my rewards card and that person happen to be someone I dated briefly. Mind you this is without my permission or knowledge of the activity that he was administering there. Security informed me that I was now that I was banned from there because a card was being used under my name which they took no time to investigate. My ex who I dated briefly who I then broke up with because he is a gambling addict which I have come to find and obviously a good gambler to get me banned from the casino. Now if your security flagged my card why is he able to use it this long and at your facility?! I filed a police report with the Des Plaines police department to report the incident that they are condoning the acts of identity theft because someone other than myself was my card for their personal gain and I'm getting the heat from it when I brought it to their attention that my card was missing and that my address and information in their system was changed as well and not by me!!!! They refused to further assist me with this situation. I spoke to Adolfo who's manager of security over the phone. He was very rude and defensive since I brought it to his attention that security failed to do their job to prevent situations as such. So yes Rivers Casino ,I will be contacting the BBB and the Illinois Gambling Commission about your protocol and lack of wanting to further investigate this issue. If I could give Rivers Casino less than a star I would. My beef is with the Security Team. The most challenging & daunting task they have is to seek out people who close their eyes while sitting or doze off for a few seconds. If one is caught 3 times they are thrown out. Now they have more of a tolerance for drunk people though, unless they get loud they get to stay. I guess the security force are lushes too so this explains their tolerance of the drunken behavior. I am not impressed at all, especially with this bar called Cube. The other night they were having a "Slut" contest. An outsider walking in there thinks it may be a brothel. The woman who dress like that think they are hot, but they are not. I believe it ruins whatever reputation the casino has already. Very tacky & dirty. Rivers Casino staff encourages this type of dress which speaks volumes about what kind of people they are. My suggestion to the security staff is to find something to do that is meaningful & not occupy space harassing people for no valid reason. All of them are too full of themselves & think they are very important behind their uniforms & who are utterly overpaid for taking on the role of moron. The casino's employee retention practices leave a lot to be desired. Employees are given a 12 point attendance system. Each time they call in sick or leave early they get 2 points against them. If the reach 12 points they are terminated. Same goes for the protected classes, especially the pregnant women. I witnessed one food manager harassing an employee at the counter complaining that he did not smile enough. Get a mannequin if you want a constant smile you moron! Beware of this casino, they are setup to rob you. Rivers casino has a history of business dealings with members of organized crime, reputed mob figures, numerous infractions. Illinois Gaming Board that supposed to assure the integrity of gambling and gaming in Illinois, did nothing about it until NBC5 and Better Government Association started investigation and put it on the news. Illinois Gaming Board then fined the casino, but it looks like they did it to make themselves not look bad. When important questions are asked , Illinois Gaming Board refuses to answer. PROS close to the north burbs cons the dealers are terrible! Played craps, black jack, and three card, The dealers at the craps table were god awful. After waiting 45mins to get on a table i found out why. the dealers could not take simple bets or pay out odds every time they had to pay out and press a bet at the same time they were completely lost you can see them struggling to figure what bets go where and how much to give change. the guys with the suits at the table had no clue either they slowed things even more. it would take them 5mins to get up to speed just to get it wrong. I mean come on aren't they suppose to be watching??? After all this confussion every roll you would think a pit boss would come over or something to help out. Nope! I never in my lfe had to wait so long in between rolls. Will never play there again. Oh my the way the black jack tables not much better several times peope at the table had to correct the count or remind the same dealer they have to hit on soft 17. P.S. I not a sore loser whose giving them a bad review because i lost money at thier casino! Just the opposite i won money because the dealers kept paying me on bets i never won or that should have been pull down on the hardways. if you do go and want to try the craps table here's a tip put at least a dime on all the hard ways, half the time they wouldn't pull your bet off if an easy hits. when they do pull it off throw them a nickel and tell them same bet and they'll let your dime play it, not because there taking care of you but because there stupid. Probably one of the worse casinos in Illinois. I've been to a lot and this place will turn out to be just another crap hole in a few years. 1) Gabling = I'll start with the gambling since thats the main attraction. High minimums at the tables. They want to suck you dry fast. They should at least allow people to have a good time for longer than 30 minutes. Blackjack dealers messed up twice in one day at one table. They also use CSM (continuous shuffle machines) at the tables. So this place is a nightmare for the professional gamblers. You will also have a hard time finding a seat at a table. Crowded and not enough tables. 2) Food = We ate at the buffet which was $30 each. High price but the food must be good than, right? NOPE. Under par food at the buffet. Don't get me wrong, it's edible just not $30 edible. The buffet tables are also messy. Food spilled out and only cleaned ever so often. 3) Drinks = $17 for 2 drinks. Enough said. They suck you dry at the tables and than suck you dry at the bar. 4) Service = Some of the people I've encountered here are very unprofessional. Some rude and some clueless. Hence the blackjack dealers making mistakes far more than they should. Could be because its a new place and they are still unexperienced. 5) The only reason I gave it two stars is because inside it looks new and pretty clean and upkeep. I am not a gambler, but I went to Rivers this past weekend for a friends birthday. Overall, I thought it was Ok. On the positive side, parking was not too difficult to find as Rivers has a huge parking lot. Further, I feel like Rivers caters not just to the gambler, but to everyone looking to have a fun night out. The ambience is pretty upscale and the casino is clean, well-lit, and has a swanky feel to it. It has various different restuarants, a club, and a large gambling room filled with slots, and card tables. We dined at the buffet where it was $30 dollars for all you can eat and overall the food was pretty good. They had a lot of different types of food, from seafood, to asian food, mexican food, steak, etc. The club, Cube, was ok as well. Earlier in the night they had a live band that played oldies music and later on they had a dj and played the more popular music you would hear on the radio. it has a large dancefloor and a lot of people started dancing as the night progressed. Only downside was that the drinks were pretty pricey. From the club, you can move into the gambling room where my experience was a little less positive. It was extremely crowded and I feel that the slot machines were placed too close together. Also, even the penny slots had a minimum bet which you had to place, .50 cents. I tried the slots for the first time and just ended up loosing money. read more
