The hike up Amicalola Falls is a 1 to 2-mile round trip depending on your exact route, requiring 1 to 1.5 hours. The trail is famous for its steep incline and roughly 425 to 600 metal and wooden stairs that climb alongside the 729-foot waterfall which was absolutely beautiful! I met some really cool people along the hike and even a new friend & we ended going for lunch and beer after our hike at the overlook. If you've never visited Amicalola falls, start planning now. Main scenic trail up starts with a walking path with an incline. You'll have a total of about 650 steps throughout your hike with plenty to landing spots with seats to rest. Every turn is a beautiful scene. Love the sounds of the relaxing water fall with every step! There's also hiking trails you can take and if hiking is not your thing, you can also drive to the top and enjoy the view without breaking a sweat. There are nice pavilions as well if you want to host a party and cabins too if you wanna spend the evening. We had one of the sites "down the hill" where the long-term campers stay. It was FABULOUS. Lovely grassy areas, and a pretty creek. Our kids were 2, 5, and 7 at the time and played outside ALL THE TIME. We always had good service from the park staff. Since we were RV newbies, the park owner and his assistant had to help us a LOT, but they were always ready and willing. Very kid and dog friendly! The bathhouse is brand new, so lovely, and is the cleanest bathhouse I've ever been in at an RV park. The owners are some of the kindest people we've met in NC, super accommodating, ensured we liked our spot, and set up a picnic table and fire pit for us to use at the site. Truly the best Campground we've ever stayed at. I highly recommend staying here, whether for a night, a week, or for a long term!!!

Views of beautiful tall trees…read more The sites are very spacious on large gravel surrounded by green grass that run all along the creek where you can dip your feet in, throw in a line, observe the Ducks and Blue Heron or just listen to the serene sound of the water. It also is a short drive to many activities should you choose. A short drive to the quaint town of Murphy for vintage shopping, wine tasting, brewery and plenty of places to grab a bite. We highly recommend the fried pickles at Chevelle's! Owners, Jon and Eileen are so welcoming and always available if needed. New bathroom/showers will be finished by Spring 2024. We will be back in Spring!

I had an encounter with 2 loose dogs, one of which was large and threatening and could not be controlled by the owner - an elderly gentleman. I had 2 working dogs with me on leashes and left within the hour without hooking up as I did not feel safe. I had to scramble for another park on a Saturday evening, twice as far away from where I needed to be. Refund was refused, even though the office manager who I reached on Monday said this has occurred before. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau.
