Cafe Soleil is the best restaurant in the Wareham and surrounding area. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the decor makes it feel like home. I have been here many times and always had a good meal, never a single complaint. The food is always fresh and tasty. My favorites are the Chicken Marsala and the Tournedos of Beef. I had a private function upstairs for a graduation and it was amazing! I no longer live in the area, but I still make it a point to visit! read more

Finally had a chance to try out this place and I am so glad I did! We were greeted right away and somehow they had a table for us because we didn't know you have to have reservations, I can see why you need them as the place filled up very quickly. The decor is very tasteful and the views are stunning, the wait staff was also very friendly and helped each other out making the dining experience fantastic. We ordered salads and the loaded potato skins and both were great, the salads were very fresh and the dressings were great. The loaded potato skins were very flavorful which was nice as most of the ones I have had are very bland. I ordered the chicken Oscar and wow it was amazing and would not hesitate to order it again. My wife had steaks that were cooked to perfection as well. A few things to note: 1) make reservations or you will most likely not get in. 2) they only take cash or personal checks. Great food once you actually get in. But very very disappointed when we had a reservation that we had to wait 1.5 hours to sit down. After seeing such a good rating and glowing reviews, we were disappointed. The food was a mixed bag. My Cajun haddock was very good, but the rice pilaf served with it was barely warm. My wife made a dinner out of several appetizers; her chowder she said was good as well as a second appetizer, but as for her fried baked stuffed mashed potato, all of the skin and some of the edges of the stuffed mash were burnt. She considered sending it back, but chose instead to work her way around the burnt parts. Service was substandard. We're pretty sure our waiter was not normally a waiter but was just filling in. (My wife said when we were waiting to be seated he heard him say "Hey, waiting tables isn't so hard.") We asked for two waters and I a glass of wine, and he brought the wine and two glasses with ice and walked away, and when we saw him again we asked if we had to wait for the ice to melt; he eventually brought a pitcher to fill them. He never returned to ask us how our food was until after we were done eating. When she told him about the potato and showed him all the burnt skin left on the plate he just walked away, not even an "I'm sorry". (Similar non-reaction when she had earlier complained to someone else.) Desert was nice, little cupcake sized treats. I had a tasty little coconut key lime pie. Yes, astonishing reasonable prices. Honestly I was dubious when I looked at the menu online. A place on the river with prices that HAD to be wrong (like 20 years ago prices). Me and two friends went on the recommendation of a BNB host. No credit cards - cash only (there is an ATM in the lobby). We were warmly greeted and I have to say that the service was outstanding. A glass of wine, a Manhattan and a glass of water from my healthy friend started the night. Two clam chowders - not bad, not great. My husband and I went for an early valentines dinner. When you walk in it is so cozy and adorable. From the decor to the candles it was perfect. A very kind man got us our drinks. What a delightful little gem Cafe Soleil is!! Nestled in a quaint little spot in the center of Wareham it has a charming atmosphere. We sat upstairs by the window overlooking the Wareham river. We lucked out with a most gregarious waiter named Scott. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and made some great recommendations on the dinner entrees. We opted for chowder ( fabulous)and stuffed quahogs which were uniquely prepared. My husband and I both selected the Seafood casserole which was amazing!! Unfortunately there was no room for dessert so that will be left for the next visit... and there will definitely be another visit! read more

This is a real gem in Wareham. Small, cozy, friendly staff, and GREAT food at very good prices. 2 appetizers, 4 drinks, 3 entrees, and 2 desserts just over $125. The chicken piccata was excellent, as were the steak frites and the surf and turf. The windows overlook the water and that adds much to the coziness. Although busy, and tables occupied, conversations were possible without having to yell as I am finding is becoming the norm. It was a cold night and nice and warm inside with the fireplace. They take reservations and if you haven't been, make it a priority to do so. You won't be sorry. I would give 10 stars if I could read more

What a charming, homey place. The staff is great, welcoming, just attentive enough, helpful - like places used to be 40 years ago. Wonderful view of the river. 100% non-pretentious. The food is excellent. Each couple split an app - meatball parm and the stuffie, both good. For entrees, 2 had the cajun haddock, the others had the scampi and the Marsala, everyone smiled. For dessert, each couple split the coconut key lime. Each person had a drink or glass of wine. Everyone was happy and full. The surprise came when the entire bill, including a 25% tip came to $160! However, my husband and I felt there were some issues that prevented this restaurant from attaining greatness. (I hope the owner realizes that my comments are meant to be helpful suggestions, not snarky criticism.) No vegetarian options except bread, salad, and a few appetizers. It would be very easy to add entrees that would appeal to both vegetarians and carnivores -- eggplant parm, pasta pomodoro, pasta primavera, vegetarian chili, an interesting take on mac & cheese, veg stir-fry, etc. Bread and salad were good, but not memorable. We ordered chicken piccata and chicken marsala. The chicken breasts were too thick -- they needed to be pounded more -- and too thickly breaded. Not enough mushrooms on the marsala. Side dish of veggies was very good. We really liked the petite desserts -- we shared chocolate mousse and coconut key lime pie. We're often too full to order dessert, so the small portions are an excellent idea. We will return to try other entrees. read more

"Discovered" last week after a quick Google search "best restaurant in Wareham". To find it .... best described as " a hole in the wall " location to anyone from out of the area. Once inside it's charm and pleasant staff was instantly apparent. A quick glimpse of the kitchen confirmed that the food was going to be good and timely served. The entire operation is spotless and ticks along like the proverbial well-oiled machine. Being seated up stairs was a great choice for a couple. The menu caters to anyone's needs. We both chose baked fish after appetizers, perfectly cooked and served hot. Skipped dessert or coffee so no review but there is plenty of choice in that regard. Astonished when the check arrived even though ahead of time knew pricing was more than reasonable. It was a pleasure leaving a 25% gratuity. read more

On our way back from a Day at Water Wizz and found on Yelp. Nice atmosphere with positive sayings throughout, view of the water, not a bad seat in the place. Service was very friendly and attentive. I had the fish and chips which were made with an extremely light batter which was good. My sister had the haddock which was good yet not spectacular. It came with double vegetable medley in lieu of rice. They were fair, a little dry, not very flavorful but fresh. My 11 year old son had the chicken fingers which were a big portion of real chicken with a unique flavored batter. It also came with the usual, fries which made him happy. A nice surprise find which we never would've found without Yelp. The bill was also a nice surprise under $50. read more

10-10-2019 HOLY COW!!! We arrived from Florida about a week ago and had been looking to make Wareham a regular vacation spot. With that comes to die for food destinations. We walked in and must have been greeted two or three times before we even stepped in the door, sat down with family to an amazing view of the beach and beautiful swans gliding around the water and had THE BEST food we've had our whole vacation. My steak was perfectly cooked and the mrs. had the fish which she described as "heavenly". The portions were huge and extra filling and everything left us wondering what magical elves were blessing our food in the back kitchen. THE NEXT DAY!!!: We had such a good time and it was so beautiful that we just had to go back for a last day date night before all the hustle and bustle. I of course had to get the steak again and the mrs. got a the cranberry chicken fried chicken (which she loved) when the waitress came by and asked how my steak was cooked, it was a tad bit overdone for my liking. (I asked for medium and it came out medium well. No big deal and an easy fix) but the gates of good old fashioned courtesy and selflessness opened up and we were not prepared for what happened next. Not only did everyone in the restaurant go completely out of their way to make sure the situation was being rectified, they brought out pretty much a whole new dish which was prepared perfectly. They even threw in a little sweet treat to ease the "pain" of having more than I could even eat. Between the incomparable service, delightful food, and amazing ambience, we will be back as soon as we can!!! P.s. ask about the story how they became a thing and don't forget to read your plate! This restaurant is a cute family-owned place on the water and you can tell how much love goes into the food and service from the minute you sit down. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating and the food was yummy! My only con about this place was the experience before getting to sit down: the lack of hostess, or even instruction, once you walk in. The building is an old house converted to a restaurant so what might have originally been the front door feels like the back - you basically walk right into the kitchen entering the building. And from there you have to physically wander around the first floor of the restaurant to find someone to put your name down on the waitlist. There are no reservations (there's a call-ahead answering machine where you can leave your party name/number/requested dinner time, but that doesn't guarantee you a spot at the time you requested). As a tourist I think there needs to be more signage telling me what to do and where to go when you first walk in. The lack of these things made it really confusing and we had to talk to a few different people in order to get our name on the list...the couple before us called ahead but didn't know to check in with anyone so they were skipped over multiple times, and I can see this causing a lot of regular frustration. Lastly, there's no great waiting area either. There's a small bench when you walk in and another outside, but we were afraid that if we sat outside our names wouldn't be called. Every time someone came to get the next party they only checked the inside area which was very packed with only about 6 of us there. It was also a little uncomfortable because we were constantly in the way of the servers and bussers no matter where we tried to stand. Waiting in this area for almost an hour was really just very awkward. Overall, I really had a great time once we got seated and had dinner. I definitely recommend this place, but only if you arrive exactly when they open to avoid the waiting issues. read more

The Cafe Soleil was the perfect choice for dinner with friends. Scott our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was amazing. There were 6 of us in our party. We all chose a different entree. I had the coquille Saint-Jacque. It was delicious. My husband had the fried chicken over salad. He raved that it was the best chicken he's had since South Carolina's southern fried. Two of our friends ordered the baked haddock with special Mother's sauce. They both said that they were extremely happy with their choice. One of our party needed a gluten free meal & was surprised that they could make a chicken parm with Pasta for her. The food is amazingly delicious. The value at cafe soleil is a shock to me every time i go. I can't think of any other restaurant in Massachusetts that even comes close to the prices here. $13 entrees, $5 drinks, $2 desserts it's truly crazy. We brought our two kids (age 7 and 10 mo); they do have a high chair, but no kid's menu. Not a problem for us! My only critique is the wine menu. I read all the great reviews and the line was out the door so I was really excited to try Cafe Soleil. The place was small and quaint, views are excellent if your fortunate to have one. Prices are reasonable portions are fair for the price. Food was just ok. My steak was very over cooked I asked for rare and got medium well. Husband said the meatballs were fantastic but honestly if your getting out of the world meatballs why put them on out of a box pasta? Honestly take the time to make pasta fresh. And no bread was served with a tomato sauce dish. Even if he had wanted to sop up the sauce he did not have a vessel with which to enjoy it. Honestly a baguette slice or two would have been a better presentation. Nice efforts on an upscale restaurant in wareham, but for us it's a miss. Guess we will have to drive outta town read more

This is a nice place to eat out with nice staff. My wife really likes the chicken piccata. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. The down sides are that they are only open four days a week and that they have very few tables. I often feel like going there and then realize it is the wrong day of the week. Most of the time I go, I don't have to wait too long, but a few times we had to leave because of the waiting line. This place is certainly worth a try. read more
