A wonderful little treasure in Wareham. Breakfast is the best and the staff is super. Very busy place.

I have only been to this place once, but decided to try it out since there are not many choices for breakfast nearby. They honestly have some of the best breakfast food I have ever had! I went on a Sunday, so naturally it was going to be a little busier, but I still received awesome service! The ladies who work here are great, and even though it was busy, they still made sure that everyone was attended to. Before I get into how the food is here...Anybody remember Wise Guyz Pizza that used to be in this location? They took forever to get up and running, and when they finally opened for business, they didn't even last 3 months. Too bad, pizza was tasty. Oh, well. Anyway, my friend and I stopped here yesterday for the first time, and got breakfast. They also serve lunch, but I didn't even look at the lunch menu. They have breakfast all day long, with all the standard fare you might expect: Scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles, omelettes, etc. I got the mini plate: 1 egg any style (I chose scrambled), home fries, and toast. It didn't come with meat, so I added a side of bacon, for a little extra charge. I also upgraded to what they called "loaded home fries" (similar to loaded bacon cheese fries some restaurants serve) that had bacon, melted cheese, and sour cream. My friend got the "Mini Riverside", which is basically the same as what I ordered, but also comes with pancakes. He got the plain home fries. To drink, we both had milk, I had plain, he got chocolate. The food was really good as far as breakfast goes. Eggs were light and fluffy, bacon was crispy, toast was brown, but not burnt. The only odd thing was, instead of being chopped up, and sprinkled on the potatoes, the bacon was left whole. However, a little "do it yourself" work fixed that quickly. My friend enjoyed his pancakes, but noted they had Vermont Maid syrup instead of real maple (of course). At first, I thought the milk had an off taste to it, but then I looked over at the fridge, and realized they gave me skim milk. I'm used to whole, or at least 2%, but I still drank it, since I was thirsty. Have to take what they got. The waitress was friendly, though I forget her name (I'm bad like that), and she seemed very attentive, despite the fact that the place was really crowded. Everyone else knew what we were just discovering: This place is great! The bill for the two of us came to $20.24. We rounded the tip up to $5. I'll definitely be back again, maybe for lunch next time. read more

A family spot! The mocha mint coffee was magnificent! The food was like having grandma get up at 5:00 to cook it for you! We will be back!

Best breakfast around. Hands down. I had eggs over easy, bacon was amazing and homefries were plain but they're really good too. My wife's cheese omelet was cooked perfectly because she doesn't make any brown on it. Coffee was decent and the best part was the monkey bread front toast! Really good food!! Very friendly staff and it's only down the road from us. If you can get here for breakfast it's worth the trip. read more

I love everything about this restaurant!! When you walk in you are immediately greeted and told to sit where you like. It is so quaint and homey, there is so much character. None of the silverware, mugs, or plates match. We ordered basic breakfasts, eggs, meats, homefries, toast. It was delivered quickly. The food was very good!!! Huge servings, I ate what I could, my boyfriend ate half my hash and home fries and I still have a whole breakfast for tomorrow. The service is excellent, everyone worked as a team and you could tell they all liked their jobs. My only complaint is the food was a little salty for my taste. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone and I will most definitely go back when I am in the area!!!! read more

Ive traveled the world, eaten a lot of food, and i can FINALLY SAY i found the best place for breakfast in the world, literally. The cinnamon raisin bread is OUT OF THIS WORLD. so much i ordered a plate of 8 slices. Super cute breakfast place and the hostess was lovely. However, the service and food left a lot to be desired. We were seated right away but were not acknowledged for almost 15 minutes. When our waitress, who looked genuinely pained and inconvenienced to be working, took our order, it then took another 25 minutes to come our way (a bagel and some eggs). The eggs were still raw, as was the majority of the bacon that came with the order. Probably one of the nastiest breakfasts I've ever had the displeasure of eating. read more

I almost don't want you to know about this place! A friend had told me that they would never come here again due to a bad experience with poor service, but I decided to try it on the referral of a family member. She said she thought the person was just having a bad day. I gave it a try and was not disappointed! The food is delicious, portions are perfect the coffee is good, waitstaff is very friendly and genuine. I now go there at least once every other week and it has become my favorite place for breakfast in the area. They are quite busy during prime-time breakfast hours, but I don't mind. It's worth the wait, especially compared to the local alternatives. 5 stars! read more

This place is great! I've been here twice so far and will definitely be back. They were very busy the first time we came and we ended up waiting quite awhile for our food to come out, however the waitress who I believe is also the owner gave us a couple of homemade muffins to snack on and was quite apologetic for the wait. I didn't mind at all because I love to see new places like this thriving! When our food did come out it was well worth the wait.. delicious and obviously fresh! My omelet had huge pieces of bacon and FRESH vegetables unlike the soggy canned kind most places hide within their eggs. The second time we went the food was just as delicious and hardly a wait at all. They also have great coffee and different flavors to choose from. read more

Good simple food. It's a nice old place where locals eat. Prices are so so. We had bf for two. River special and chicken fried. Both lacked flavor but we're filling. Coffee was med by most standards. Not.a wonderful cup of java. But not the light brown water many places serve. Ladies serving were pleasent kept the mugs filled and staff checked on us for needs through the meal. Very good breakfasts, and service is satisfactory until you want to leave! On a few occasions I've had to wait a while for my check so that I could leave. Their pancakes are very good with a hint of nutmeg in them. I only wish they had real maple syrup (and I wish this at ALL restaurants serving breakfast). Hint: I see tiny bottles of real maple syrup in supermarkets; maybe you could sell them to diners at $1.00 a bottle. The bacon is usually nice and crispy, and eggs done right. My husband and I have been to Riverside for breakfast three times now. I do think the food and service have improved each time we've been there and I'm hoping they continue that trend! I like to cut new businesses some slack as I know they have kinks to work out. Compared to other breakfast options in Wareham, their food is pretty good and the service is very friendly. I would say their scramblers are the best thing we've had there (although they could use a little less cheese!). We've eaten there on weekend mornings and one weekday around 10am, and have never had a wait. read more

Came here a little while ago for the first time. The wait staff is very friendly and the place is nicely decorated. However, the food really leaves something to be desired. I ordered an eggs benedict with spinach and when it arrived I was not impressed. I couldn't see the eggs or the english muffin as it was swimming in so much hollandaise. I like hollandaise, but not this much and it was too watery. I also have a gripe with the fact that they use solo cups for all the drinks other than coffee. I don't see how that's cost effective not to mention that it's EXTREMELY wasteful and I doubt that they're recycling all the cups. Not a big fan of the food or the non-ecofriendly cup situation. read more

Saw great reviews, and tried Riverside Cafe this morning. My experience seems to be in line with the other great reviews. Great food, great prices, great service! This is a fairly small place, but the tables are space and angled so that it's comfortable. The prices were low, so I was expecting low quality. Far from it! They ask if you'd like a fruit bowl instead of homefries, so my friend chose the fruit. Surprised to see it was all FRESH berries, melon, pineapple and banana. The sausages are large and juicy. One other thing that struck me was the raisin bread... it looks and tastes like it's homemade. I didn't ask for confirmation, but if it's not their own, it must be made locally. Saw that other reviewers were offered coffee to go, and we had the same experience. We didn't accept, but it's just nice that they go that extra step above and beyond. I could type a few paragraphs about the amazing service, but I'll just say that it was extremely busy, yet every server was smiling, joking, fast and efficient. The second it slowed down a bit, the staff was very conversational in ways that seemed genuine and in no way intrusive. I am new to the area and just learning the restaurants around here... there is honestly no logical reason to look at other breakfast places. I found my perfection already :) read more

I have been there for breakfast many times they have unique flavors of coffee specials every day. The special yesterday was monkey bread french toast. I did not order it but the person next to me did and it looks so freaking yummy. There hollandaise sauce is homemade the Accord beef hash is home made there baked beans are homemade and everything is fabulous. The owners and everyone that work there are so friendly and want to make sure you're happy with everything. I love this place it is the best breakfast place around too. Love you guys read more

Wow bad experience all around.to start I person sat another brought us coffee,then we waited and waited some more,finally caught the eye of a waitress she smiled asked if we were ready to order then walked away! Yup we waited some more!we have lots of time to check out what was going on around us.there were many people waiting to sit and there were empty tables but no one to sit them.some just left,one fellow got testy on other couple just got angry.there seemed to be plenty of help but no organization!like I started with one sat us another gave us coffee a third took our order finally and a forth served it! Crazy or wha by the way did I mention the a/c was set on hot! To the food.my wife's bacon was so over cooked it was curled up,probably cooked many hours before and reheated the same can be said for my sausage (gray in the middle)black on the outside,home fries were like eating rocks. This is a wonderful homey cafe with great food and excellent service. Six of us walked in with no reservations. People worked hard to find us a nice table and were super friendly. The cinnamon raisin toast and morning glory muffins were delicious. My one suggestion is that I wish they would offer "real" maple syrup instead of the maple-flavored corn syrup. Yummy! I love this place. The food is great. The prices are fair. The people are so friendly. It has a real family atmosphere. We were greeted as soon as we came in and were invited to sit where we liked. The menu was awesome. It's impossible to not find something you'd like. As we were waiting for our breakfast, we noticed a young man who worked there. He was diligently cleaning while greeting customers. He saw an older lady coming in and rushed to the door to open it for her. That kind of customer service means we will be back. Oh yeah, that, plus the delicious food and friendly waitstaff.
