Bc I did not agree to getting my indoor kitten vaccinated he called me names, told me anything that happens to my pet is on me and kicked me out. Very kind, I've been here many times with multiple cats and the doctors and staff have always been honest and helpful as much as they can. Sometimes it's busy but it's a vet office -- that is to be expected. I do wish there was better Wifi for the clients just so I can pass time while I wait but honestly, that's my only complaint. I came to this hospital because of the reviews. All I needed was an exam for vaccinations. When I got there no one was at the front desk. There is a sign informing you of that. However, my appointment was at 10:30 am. I came in and was checked in 5 minutes after I arrived. Then I waiting a whole half hour. I asked the girl with half red/brown hair how much longer and she stated we are getting a room ready for my cat. Then I asked how long will the exam and vaccination take. She stated she could not tell me. She couldn't even give me an estimate. I had no concerns I just needed to get my cats vaccinated updated. I had to cancel the appointment because I was waiting for 30 minutes without any notification or head ups of anything. The front office staff member didn't even bother to ask the vet or anyone else how much longer. She just answered with "I'm not sure". The waiting room chairs were very dirty in between, there was dust, I'm assuming cat hair, and a used bandaid with blood on it. I also noticed there were two other pet owners with their cats being seen while I was waiting for my cat to be seen. It seems like they overbook themselves and don't inform anything of the owners. I could understand if they have emergency and would have not had an issue with waiting had a staff membered informed me if they were running behind or there was a delay for my appointment. read more

Dr. Greg is very patient; listened to all the concerns and made a plan to make my cat as comfortable as possible with low stress. My cat is 20 and diabetic. Two of the most caring vets and office staff I've ever known. I've been bringing my cat here for years. He is almost 20 with old person issues, so being able to get him in on a moment's notice is sometimes necessary, at least in my thinking. They try hard to accommodate us so that my worries can either be addressed with treatment or put to rest. When you arrive at the little cottage office, you may be greeted by Cleocatra, the blind kitty who lives there. Trust me...she can "see" her way around and has a sixth sense about people. The office is very well lived in so if you're allergic to kitties like I am, make sure to take your allergy pill before you arrive. I have loads of respect for the vet that works here, as she immediately took my 13 year old cat in with a facial abscess that wasn't healing, and recommended necessary dental surgery whilst he was under anaesthesia. I would have gladly given five stars except for the way the office staff handled our pick up visit. There was no aftercare instructions, nor advice for feeding a cat with no back teeth. (Thank goodness for Google.) I was simply handed a receipt for services (also no written aftercare Instructions), along with a cone I'll assume was needed to prevent my cat from taking out a stent left in his cheek to help drain the abscess. We had an emergency on a Tuesday, went to Arlington Animal Hospital, which is clean, professional, close to us and open 24/7. I left a message on Riverside Cat Hospital's answering machine that day, which was never returned the next day. So I went there to show them a cellphone photo of the 8" round puddle of blood on Tuesday that was next to the cat box. Our kitty was so sick she couldn't make it to the box. After my bringing her up to date on the situation, Leigh Gallegos demanded to know why I hadn't taken our cat all the way to Ontario Pet Hospital, as she recommended at our Monday visit. Then she ordered me out of the office and told me not to come back. At our previous Monday visit, they had 2 teenage cats in a 3'x3'x3' wire cage that were up for adoption. We'd seen them at visits before. They'd been in the cage for 7 months, since they were kittens. We took pity on them and brought them home, even though we already have 2 cats. We've kept a very neat, clean house for 50 years, have never had a problem with bugs. After we had the adopted cats 2 weeks, I was bitten by bedbugs. As I said, we've NEVER had bedbugs before and we think they came from the new cats. However, we'd never take them back there to live out their lives in that small cage, at that dirty place! read more

After a pretty bad experience elsewhere, I took my injured cat (and traumatized) cat to see Dr. Leigh and it went so much better with very little aftercare. My cat was quiet and after getting his shot, he was calm and a bit more sedate. Once he got home, he was still comfortable and not stressed. I highly recommend this RCH because the doctors care and the staff is very nice. Always thankful for everything they do, especially their nail clipping service. I took my cat in for an issue and felt like the vet took really good time with my cat and explained what I needed for her, but when I called them back for a follow up and to make an appointment for the dental surgery (they suggested) they never called me back. Took my cat here to get groomed and he had to be sedated since he's super nervous, which is what I expected. I brought him here for the same procedure back in 2021 and I think the total time they took was under 2 hours and I got to pick him up, which was great. This time, I had to drop him off between 8-8:30 and was told by one girl he'd be done by 2. Another girl said 4. They said they prioritize surgeries first, so although I was surprised by the length of his stay, I was understanding. So I didn't get a call around 2 so I called at 3:45 to get an update and was told he was still being groomed. They called me at around 4:20 to say he was done and was told he would have to stay between 5-5:30 while he comes off of anesthesia. So he was there from 8am-4:45 because I begged them to just let me take him home. The girl who helped me to get him early was super nice and understanding and I'm thankful she was considerate when I relayed how he's an older nervous cat who is super attached to me. He was fasting since 10pm the night before and is a senior cat so I knew he was wanting to come home. I feel so bad that he had to sit there all day fasting and not start his grooming until probably close to 3. I'm still happy with the grooming itself because he had some deep matts that needed to be taken care of. I just wish I didn't have to traumatize my poor baby for such a long day to get him groomed. read more

I'm writing this review from Honolulu Hawaii, but I can honestly say that this will be a review from someone who is qualified to write about a cat clinic. I manage a veterinary clinic here in Hawai'i, but my daughter and her fiancé are in Riverside. When my daughter told me her cat was losing weight and not interested in treats anymore, I knew she had to get in right away. We called and although they didn't have any available appointments, they took my name and number and told me they would call back, and they did!! I asked to FaceTime during the visit and let the person who answered the phone know what tests I was thinking would be appropriate to run, and his answer was "it sounds like you want our senior wellness" he was right, I did. Unfortunately during the physical exam Dr. Greg was able to palpate an abdominal mass. I knew immediately, and told him that all of the blood work, X-rays and urinalysis' won't change the outcome. There was absolutely no pressure put on us for testing (it wouldn't change anything), no up selling of products, just an honest assessment of the situation. I was unable to be there for my daughter and her fiancé and little Ophelia, but they were in the very best of hands. Dr Greg, I am very thankful for your time and I appreciate your honesty. I made reservations to board my cat there over Thanksgiving week. During 1st phone call I made to the hospital, a very young sounding girl made appointment for me quoting the price and telling me to bring proof of her rabies vaccine and flea meds to administer. During my 3rd call to the hospital to confirm my appointment for boarding, a young man answered the phone and verified. The day I went to drop off my cat I can describe what seemed to be 4 very young people standing behind the front counter chatting between themselves, bad first impression. There was no greeting - no hello - just blank stares. Once I said to the very youngish man sitting there behind the computer that I'd made a reservation his voice, tone and body language was showing that he wasn't in a customer-service sort of mood that day. He barely spoke and seemed as if he was there to warm the chair . It was disconcerting at best. A few minutes later another customer entered with 2 cats and sat down to wait , with no greeting from any of the 4 staff which seemed to be idle. The young man asked me for my cats vaccination papers which I gave him. He rifled through and said in his low whispery voice that there aren't any leukemia shots showing in the stack of forms I brought. I told him that I was only told that I needed proof of rabies. He didn't seem to hear what I said. He proceeded to try and upsell, tried to make me pay $350 for an exam and leukemia testing and the shots. I refused. I felt like I was being extorted. When all I wanted was to have this place care for my cat for a week. He said that he can waive the exam fee and just have me pay for the test and leukemia shot. Again I refused. Then he mumbled "one moment" and abruptly left the room. He came back about 5 minutes later. By this time another customer had arrived inside and was also standing behind me. The young man said that the doctor said it was fine, that they would accept my cat for boarding without having me to pay $350 for the leukemia shots. But that they'd have to keep her separate from the other cats. I said that is fine, I'd rather have her separate from other cats. I wanted to pay for her boarding then, instead of paying upon picking her up. And I did pay the full amount of $224. After I paid I said to the chair-warmer "my other pet clinic people didn't do this to me". I didn't think that kid understood what I was saying. During my vacation I called to check on my cat. A very young sounding girl answered the phone and told me she was "doing good after her operation". I yelled saying "operation?! Why are you operating on my cat?! I only wanted to board her! Is there an adult there I can speak to?! " She said "you can speak to me". I insisted on speaking to an adult. Then the woman who works in back with the cats came to the phone and spoke to me. My cat was doing fine. I told her thank you for telling me, because some child had just told me my cat had been operated on. This morning I went there to pick up my cat. As I entered the door there were 3 young girls standing behind the counter and the same young man sitting at the computer warming the chair. They were all laughing hysterically about something. They stopped laughing and all stood there staring at me. Nobody said anything. They all stared as if they'd never seen a customer come through the door. I said "I am here to pick up my cat". Nobody said anything. 3 girls turned around and left the front area, left me standing there with the whispering boy warming his chair. I said to him "I'm here to pick up my cat". He said nothing , then mumbled so low I could barely hear him. I think he said that they're going to get her. While I waited, this young boy said that the amount I owed was $224. I told him that "I already paid you, remember when I dropped her off?!" He smiled and giggled and said "oh ya". I finally got my cat and left. These employees have zero customer service skills and I think the whisperer who warms his chair is either embezzling money from the business or trying to "upsell" customers for services the cats don't need. Furthermore he's lazy and doesn't speak loud enough. Both visits I experienced I left feeling annoyed and like that whispering chair-warmer was treating me as if I was supposed to give him money I didn't owe. It just felt very wrong and dishonest . I will never go back there. Usually I board my pets nearby at a different pet clinic. This is not good. I'm writing a complaint letter to the doctor. read more

I searched high and low when I got my cat for a vet. Many vets just don't know or even like cats. I had a few "your our only cat of the day" experiences and vets who barely even looked at my cat before finding the Cat Hospital. Finally, a place where everyone actually wants to see and properly care for cats. My boy absolutely loves the staff here and they are great with him. I had to take my sweet baby boy Goatee here to be sent over the rainbow Bridge after he was diagnosed with FIP & the treatment was not working. He was suffering and we were heartbroken. The staff at Riverside Cat Hospital went above and beyond for us and our baby. Not only did they get us in right away, they didn't rush us in and out of the office. Everyone was so very kind and respectful. And the Vet was amazing she took the time afterwards to talk with us and answer all of our questions and address our concerns. Very rare to find any vet or Dr that will do this nowadays. They took very good care of our boy and he was home (cremated) 2wks later as promised. The office even did his little paw print and sent it to us in a sympathy card signed by every employee at the Riverside Cat Hospital...It meant the world to us! if I could leave a ZERO I would. My poor cat had issues with shortness of breathing, buggers, watery eyes,. I have been taking him to this place and ALL they kept saying is "allergies", "Sinusitis" blah blah blah, we as pet parents believe the "Vet". Well after about a freaking yr of this, I was at my at my end. All they did was give him steroid shots, many "home" remedies to NO avail. I finally had enough and removed him from this place. Great news is I took him to "The pets place" down the road, SADLY and glad to say within the second appt we took x-rays and this Dr. B, found a massive mass in his lungs, now could this have been curable had this place found it sooner ? I tell you DO NOT take your pet here unless you just wanna thru your hard earned $ in the pocket of a very unprofessional untrained staff. I thought going to a "cat only" would be best but I tell you, don't waste your money or time please on behalf of your loving cat chose another place. read more

Ugh. I love that this is a cat-only vet. I love the staff and the doctors are very nice too. They're just too busy and need more staff and another vet present. It seems that they always have too much going on to give the best care for each customer. I find myself often frustrated as I'll be told the doctor will get back to me and I don't hear back for weeks even after calling them to follow up. This has happened to me multiple times. I get that they are super busy, but it just seems reoccurring and leaves me feeling hopeless. Especially when dealing with a current medical issue with one of my cats. This time, I was told to call back in a week to talk to the vet and give an update. Unfortunately, the doctor was out sick which is not a problem to me. It happens. I was told that I would hear back from the other doctor in a few days and I still haven't even after calling every couple of days to remind them. It's almost been a week. I don't mean anything malicious in this follow-up review, but it's just not ideal when you're not able to have full control of your cat's care and have to wait weeks for something that is ongoing. We started taking our cats here before Dr. Leigh bought the practice. It used to be a great place to bring our cats when they needed care. Now the office staff is untrained and unprofessional. They don't care if your cat needs care or not (except Louise who does care and is very sweet). The current vet wants to let you know she knows a lot about cats, but she doesn't listen very well. The office smells of urine. They keep wanting us to "drop off the cat" if she's sick and they'll take a look at her sometime during the day, when they have time. I really really had high hopes for this clinic. I took my kitty in to be assessed for anxiety meds because my normal vet was booked months out. They were able to get me in within 2 days and the consult went very well. Dr Lee was kind and knowledgeable. It's everything that's happened since then that's been unfortunate. Dr Lee started my kitty on one medication and ran blood work to see if she could handle another medication if the first one wasn't super effective. I was told I'd be called with the blood test results. Never got a call. I call after two weeks and am told a note will be left with a doctor to call me to go over the results. Never get a call. I call a week later and leave a message explaining the situation and requesting a return call. A few days later I get a return call saying again they'll leave a note with the doctor for them to call me and go over the blood test results. Never get a call. Two weeks later my kitty is now already out of her prescribed meds, the meds have not helped at all and I still don't have her blood results. I call again and ask how I can get copies of her medical records so I can go to another clinic. Dr Lee comes on the phone a couple minutes later. My kitty gets a refill at a higher dose and her blood work clears her for the additional medication and Dr Lee says someone will call me right back to talk to me about when to pick up the meds. Nobody calls me back. The next day someone calls me and says the refill can be picked up but the new medication has to be ordered. This was on News Years Eve 12/31. I go that day and pick up the meds. They tell me they are short on meds and can only give me a 5 day supply which costs $30. After those pills ran out I go back to pick up a 30 day supply and that costs $49. While I was there I asked about the second medication. They couldn't find any record of the name of the second medication Dr Lee spoke to me about so they just vaguely said they were sure it was ordered and someone would call me when it was ready. It's now 01/16 and I still haven't gotten a call. I do want to say that the staff at the clinic is very nice but this experience has just been so disorganized and I'm trying to improve the quality of my kitty's life because she is really struggling and that's something that just doesn't seem that important to them unfortunately. Not to mention the pricing of their medication makes absolutely no sense to me. read more

Everyone was so nice and helpful! I was really worried since my cat does not like being in a carrier so I knew he would arrive VERY agitated to the vet but they were so understanding and did everything possible to accommodate him. Not only that, but they also made ME feel comfortable as I was also very anxious but they explained everything to me so I was completely calm afterwards. Just wanted to say that not even a week after putting our cat to sleep, Dr. Lumsden sent us a sympathy card, with a very heartfelt note inside. It was in her own handwriting and took up half of the card! I know Dr. Lumsden cares a great deal for cats, and even though she can be a bit hard on the owners at times, she cares for them as well. When I first walked in.. I noticed the cute kitty wandering around, and the cleanliness and how QUIET ( no dogs barking- it is cats only!) it is in the lobby and in the boarding section. The staff, they are great too; they are caring,friendly professional and all around wonderful. The Vet she is very involved and a great listener too. Even though this location is 15 minutes PAST where I live in Corona, it is well worth the drive. My 20 year old kitty Mini is not the easiest to deal with when I have to travel and board her ( honestly oven mitts and a Falconry glove is almost required) they got her to relax and come around and be receptive to petting. About 5 years I had a beautiful cat. Took him to Riverside Cat Hospital, they pulled his baby teeth before it was necessary. He had food allergies, he ended up passing away anyway. They took , $1500.00 of my money over a series of visits. The passed about 4 years ago, I was happy not to deal with these people again. Now I am getting e-mails from them wanting to set up an appointment with the "Dr" for dental work and other things. It will not allow me to cancel the e-mail subscription. We had to look for a vet whom could work with our little hyper kitten. Ace was a baby when we got him from a friend and was very scared. Little by little he's a handful now. Anywho, he tends to bite and be a bit aggressive. I was worried any other vet would probably refuse to neutered him. We called made appointment and dropped him off. He did so good. We contacted Riverside Cat Hospital because their website stated: "We offer superb boarding services and promise complete and thorough care of your cat. We can board any pet from easy and healthy felines to those who require greater care and more selective handling. All boarding cats have their own technician who is responsible for the care of your cat while at our facilities." We went in to talk with the staff and look around a week before we wanted to board her. We spoke to Louise and she took us back to the area where the cats are kept. We were very happy with the tour and the staff so we filled out the paperwork and set an appointment. On the Monday prior my husband took all of Mimi's records, he spoke to Angie who advised that everything was in order and we were good to go. On Wednesday morning we brought Mimi in. We spoke with Lori at length about this being a trial run at boarding her and how excited we were about their facility. We brought Mimi in her carrier and brought her own food, a few toys and also a pillowcase from a pillow that she sleeps on my lap with. We brought this all in a bag with a name tag attached and we advised Lori of what we had brought. We also discussed with Lori getting Mimi a hygiene cut as she is a longer hair cat. We decided to go ahead and have this done while she was boarding with them. We were going to be gone for approximately 2 1/2 days and advised we would be back on Friday afternoon. On Wednesday and Thursday I called to check on her and they advised she was skittish but settling in. At no time were we told that she was difficult. Friday: My husband called at 12:14 and let them know that we were on the way home and that we would be in to pick up Mimi around 4 or so. They told him at that point that she was acclimating better, she had eaten and drank and also used the potty. We got in to pick Mimi up at 4 pm. When Angie and Caitlyn brought Mimi out to us about 10 minutes after we arrived Angie handed Mark the flea treatment that we had brought in and said "We weren't able to use this". We were surprised by this because we were told that flea treatment was a requirement to board and Mark had already brought it in before we boarded and Angie told him that it was fine. She apologized and said that she had been incorrect. In the car I opened the carrier and Mimi came out. I took her in my arms to hold and there was dried poop on her bottom. I called and spoke first to Angie and advised about the situation. I told her that I was very concerned about this and wondered if no one had really checked in on her since it was dried so it had been there at least a day. She said that they had checked on her but she had been difficult so they didn't do any physical checks. She put Caitlyn on the line with me and I again reiterated that I was very concerned with this....Angie said that when they were putting her into the carrier for pickup she had gotten scared and pooped and that they cleaned her "as best as they could" I told her that did not sound right as most of the poop was dried and that if they had made any attempt to clean her they would and should have seen it. She reiterated that it had happened upon pickup and they tried to clean her. We went in on Saturday to speak with a manager, we were then told that Lori was one of the lead technicians and could speak with us. We were very happy to speak with Lori as she checked us in and was very friendly. We started by letting her know that we were here about the possible lack of attentiveness since we discovered the dried poop and wanted to discuss it. She told us that Mimi was a fractious cat and as such they only had minimal handling and contact with her. She indicated that after the flea attempt on Thursday Mimi was not social and therefore they left her in her carrier in the kennel. We advised that we had not been contacted about the flea treatment not being good. Also, no one in all of the phone calls had indicated that there were any problems. I kept stating that we came here because they were cat specialists according to their own website: I told her that they didn't even need to handle her to see the poop. It was very clear and I showed her the pictures. She just kept calling Mimi a "fractious" cat. I asked if any attempt had been made to bond or get acquainted with Mimi and she told me that is not what they do, that we are renting the space and that they are not Kitty Day Care. We expressed to Lori that we feel that they just gave up on Mimi and put food and water in the kennel and that was that. Over several days we attempted to speak with a manager or owner and were told by the front desk that we had already spoke to Lori and no one would be contacting us or speaking with us. I had the best experience here ! We took our two cats here at two separate times last month . I couldn't believe the care and concern they showed to my very cranky mean old boy . They had no problem with him and were so kind about it . The Dr spoke to me on the phone per Covid protocol for twenty minutes . Took the other cat in later that week and was very impressed again . I'm extremely grateful for the way the Cat hospital cared for my kitty during these difficult times with Covid 19. I was able to get same day appointment for her. My kitty was feeling very sick, she had diarrhea, wasn't eating, and on top of that she was dehydrated. They took her inside and I waited outside the hospital. Dr Leigh assistant called me to discuss the recommended treatment for my cat. Sometime later my kitty was ready to go home. I asked lots of questions and all of them were answered to my satisfaction, and they were very patience with me. I was told to call them back to report her progress. My cat began eating the next morning and her diarrhea stopped within 24 hours. Two days later she was feeling much better. My cat and had have been coming here since she was Dr. Lumsden's patient, but since she retired, I am sad to say we will be frequenting this establishment no longer. The staff is extremely inefficient in their communications; for example, I have had to call and confirm my own appointments. Not a deal breaker in and of itself, but yesterday I received an unwarranted and unprofessional email from the doctor, so rude and hurtful that I could barely believe it came from a medical professional. I have never been treated so poorly by a medical professional and will not do so again. I thank Dr. Lumsden for saving my fur child's life two years ago but will seek veterinary services elsewhere in the future. read more

I am very thankful for this place. I did a little research and decided to bring my 7week kitten. The Dr is so kind with lots of patience, she explains in detail and answered all of my concerns about vaccines. She is very knowledgeable and respectful. She has always taken time to explain in detail. 15 months have past, my ragdoll required entropian surgery and he got neutered, explained the process in detail. Day of surgery as usual everyone was kind and answered all my calls and questions assured me everything was fine. They are very professional. I couldn't be more thankful for this business for the caring of my boy during his surgery. My only regret is, i made a big mistake by trusting another vet with my previous cat who died when given anesthesia at a dental cleaning. I highly recommend this place to anyone. Everyone here is AMAZING ! I am so glad i found this vet. They are so caring and attentive ! My poor Oliver was losing hair like crazy and scratching uncontrollably. Making himself bleed. I want to say that this place and the staff are amazing! A little kitty ran up to my front porch, I thought it was about 4 weeks old, really skinny, poor thing needed food and love(we have a feral cat problem in my neighborhood). So after getting the kitty fed I brought him here to get him checked out in an attempt to foster and adopt out. He had some problems, flea anemia, malnourished, and so on. They sent him home with me with instructions and medication and told me he was a boy and closer to 6 weeks. A couple weeks later, he ended up non responsive, a quick 180 from the lovey playful kitten he was turning into. Unfortunately he didn't make it, there had been something wrong that we didn't know about. The staff was 100% supportive, kind and caring during this situation, even dealt with me calling multiple times for advice. I highly recommend them for you vet and vet emergency needs! read more
