I have taken my cats to the cat hospital for years, but ever since Dr. Lumsden left this place has gone down hill. The last few times I have been there today being it stinks like cat feces! I had asked a technician to please have the vet call me, she never did so when I went in today to pick up something I told them she never called & the receptionist went back to inquire and when she came back she said Dr. Leigh said the tech told me everything so there was no use for to call, how does she know what I'm asking! My cat is gorgeous and he knows it. To put it simply, he's a grouch. Still, we're in love. (Don't judge our love!) I want the best for my precious little man, and Riverside Cat Hospital is it. My cat has had one major surgery and several check-ups with Dr. Lumsden. Dr. Lumsden does an amazing job. She's smart and very no nonsense (she can seem almost rude). We usually have to wait for an appointment - one to two weeks, in my experience. When I arrive though, I'm rarely kept waiting more than five minutes. Office staff seem genuinely interested in my cat (he IS adorable, after all), and prices are reasonable, generally on the high-ish end of average. Great cat-only clinic means low-stress for my sweet kitty. read more

What an absolutely wonderful hospital! Dr. Lumsden was incredible and very patient and kind. The hospital is small and has a very personal touch. The Dr. was able to take us back and actually show us the living parasite in the microscope and went to a lot of time and effort (on her day off) to figure out the best course of action for our cat and her treatment plan. All of our cats will come here from now on. The bill was exceedingly reasonable - like less than a third of what our bills have been from previous vet visits - and this was the only hospital to actually figure out what was wrong with her. Huh, it's been a while since I've done a review. WOooooops. So in the intervening time between reviews, I've adopted a cat. Or rather, a cat adopted me. As a result, I now have a orange and white furball of a "roommate" who has me buy his food for him, sometimes eats some of mine, and craps in a box. However, when he first moved in, he had a bit of a "going" problem. I.e. He was going wet, on both numbers, rather than solely on numero uno. Bad sign. Took him to Dr. Lumsden. Quirky fact, my dad used to take his cat to Dr. Lumsden when he lived in the area, and my dad generally recommends superior quality people. So, with that being said, the good the bad and the gritty; The staff are incredibly kind. From reception to the pre-exam, to Dr. Lumsden herself, everyone was very kind and professional. Now, don't get me wrong, Dr. Lumsden is also direct, which I can see why some people would think she's off putting. She doesn't sugarcoat anything. After checking my records of Rufus's adoption, and taking his overall health, she recommended a course of action for off label usage of a particular drug and y'know what, it worked. Soon, Rufus was pushing playdough rather than wet pudding. A non-sick kitty is a happy kitty. Further, she even wrote a card midway between our first visit and the followup visit to welcome us and wish Rufus better. I honestly can't think of anyplace else to take my little guy for checkups. They used to be good, not so much anymore. Their office stinks - well, in all honesty, the office always had a horrid odor. When I took my cat in last for drop-off only service, I got her back covered in urine. They're booked out months, I guess for surgeries - so they can no longer treat anything other than routine maintenance. They saved my cats life. I went to two other nearby vets and they didn't want to attempt the risky but much needed surgery on my (pregnant with a diaphragmatic hernia) cat. Went in for a consultation and instantly felt like this was the place. It was clean and felt welcoming. The consultation was empathetic and I felt safe putting her life in their hands. I've never met a more compassionate vet, Dr. A is amazing! Nobody likes the idea of needing to take their furry loved one to a vet however you can be assured that the staff at this facility have your pets best interest in mind. Everyone is friendly and considerate and really go a long way to ensure that your cat is happy and healthy. I've received great advice for the care of my loved one coming from a loving and experienced vet who takes the time to listen as well as advise. I took my cat hallow here today, i was scared because my cat suffers from social anxiety, but they treated her like the princess she is, the staff was super friendly and made us feel safe and calm about them treating our furry baby, and also we were pleased with their pricing. I had found a stray cat and thought that since this was a cat Veterinary Hospital that they might have some resources but when I called to ask a few questions the girl was acting very annoyed with my phone call and there was a lot of silence after I asked a question so I gave up and said goodbye she seemed happy to say goodbye though...I was new to Riverside at that time and was considering taking my cats there until this phone call...probably a blessing in disguise! Also, I am not sure why some people feel the negative reviews are funny when I can't see how anyone would interpret them as funny over people's hurt and hard times...seems strange to me...especially since you can't see who rates each post, it does makes you wonder who these people are and what is their relationship to this place read more

Firstly I would like to say this is a review of the facility, location, medical staff and pricing of Riverside Cat Hospital. I am deliberately omitting the front desk staff from my star count in hopes that my experience was unique (Pam, although kind and means well was unorganized, not familiar enough with the computer operating system and almost miss charged me by $400 if I had not read my bill carefully to see she accidentally charged my four times for a particular item as well as a DECLINED ultrasound, also forgot to give me my cat's seizure medicine upon asking twice) That said; Facility; perfect for the cat lover and their companions. I felt cozy and at home and loved the large flat screen TV playing national geographic. I also noticed beautiful urn options for cremated kitties on the front desk which I loved as well as jewelry options. Additionally, they accept pet insurance and CareCredit among other payment options. Location; I drive from Highland CA and it is wonderful that the hospital is right off the freeway. As with anything in Riverside, watch for PM traffic. Medical staff; I worked mainly with the RVT January and the DVM Agarwal. Both were superb to work with and made me feel at ease with my three cats getting dentals and extractions. My check in and exams for all three cats was done in a timely manner and I appreciated the friendly, professional banter with January. Even with my unusually disturbing experience with the front desk, I will certainly be brining my cats back. -Dr.Agarwal is akin to cat specific veterinary medicine and isolated a discrepancy in one of my cat's lab results and contacted the reference lab right away to solve the problem. Pricing; fair but competitive, I highly recommend booking your first visit online for the discounted rate. I hope the front desk gets a revamp of software training and organization skills, but otherwise a wonderful clinic. read more

Come to this vet if you want to wait over an hour for your appointment you scheduled weeks ago. These people do not have enough technicians nor receptionist. Waste of my time and waiting has only stressed out my cat. Backstory: My cat had an appointment at 10am, and appointment I made over 2 weeks ago. When I arrived, I called to "check in" due to their COVID-19 restrictions. Kaitlyn picked up the phone. I let her know we were checking in and she assured me we were successfully check in. I waited in my car for over 40 minutes and this is when I decide to call back since it had been so long. I call, call, and call. No one is picking up (might need to hire more people since it took forever to get through...). A woman picked up the phone, I didn't catch her name. I told her I have been waiting for 45 minutes and no one has call me back to bring my cat in. She puts me on hold to see what the issue is. She then says that Kaitlyn put me on hold and that I must have hung up on her. I told her that was incorrect, Kaitlyn assured me that I was check in and we both hanged up. However, regardless if I did hang up on Kaitlyn, she has my number to call me back if necessary. She already knew that I was right outside the clinic. How does Kaitlyn putting me on hold affect me being check in? It doesn't. Seems like someone got lazy to call me back or walk outside to ask me information she needed and just ignored the fact that I was RIGHT OUTSIDE. The woman on the phone then proceeds to tell me that I can RESCHEDULE OR WAIT AN ADDITIONAL 30 MINUTES. No apology or anything else, just that I will have to wait more time for my cat to be seen when it was their fault. Save yourself the trip. These people do not respect their clients or their time. After going to quite a few vets in the Yucaipa area without any results, we went to the Riverside Cat Hospital. Dr. Leigh spend time with us, listened to everything we had gone through (including my calendar of symptoms ) & she diagnosed Mr. Frodo with urinary crystals & prescribed special food. You would think that people who work in their field would actually care about animals. So much for that assumption. I've brought my cat here before and had decent experiences, but one time I was walking my dog and it was pretty hot outside, he'd already gone through a 16 ounce water bottle and was thirsty again. I walked by here, thinking "well, they can fill his cup for him." (Note: I did not bring my dog inside or around the cats.) It wasn't busy at all, and I explained that my dog and I had been walking for quite some time and he was very thirsty and asked if one of the ladies could fill his cup from the bathroom faucet. She responds "No, sorry." With no explaination. Really? Shows how much you care about animals...Will never bring my cat here again. read more

Best customer service ever!!! We love that they only have cat patients. We have a 2 year old male sphynx named Voodoo and he had the worst ear infection. Best vet and staff you can imagine. Just got ripped off big time. They called me saying I owe lab fees, and claimed I said I will pay later. I never said that and I never leave without paying. Also, on Sunday my cat had a scare so I took him to an emergency vet and the vet disagreed blatantly with what Riverside Cat Hospital told me to do. So I am not going back. Update: I was surprised and impressed I got a direct contact from the doctor who wanted to address and fix the problem. That is huge since it never happens. Grazie. read more

We made an appointment over the phone, the tech at the front desk are wonderful. The doctor is horrible. We told them and warned them about our cat being fearful, as she was horribly abused by previous owners. When she is with us, she is an amazing cat, loves getting love from strangers (check her instagram for proof amazing_miss_sally), and because of this, we are trying to get her therapy certified. This doctor spent over ten minutes talking down to us, like we don't know our own cat, telling us she is a viscous cat that cannot be trust around children or seniors. Again, the instagram proves otherwise. We understand that Covid-19 can spread easily, but if one of us would have been able to be with her, the full check up could have been completed, and not paid for "She appears to be in good health." No professional should treat anyone like an idiot, let alone one whose mother is a vet at a cat care clinic in another city. read more

Good to have an all cat dedicated veterinarian in Riverside. Nice people,good veterinary care. No barking dogs to scare the cats. I've not had enough experience with this vet yet so I can't be objective with critique. Prices are comparable if a little higher perhaps because of their specialization. I've been to vets in Riverside that are in the profession for the money and been to vets that care more about the animals and professionalism than money. This one seems to be the latter but I will see. Hope springs eternal. Took a second cat in for a check some months later but the price for the suggested treatment was way too high for my budget and no other options were given by the vet. You have to start a Care Credit account to afford the work. As a senior on a fixed budget I can't afford it. I would and do recommend the place for their veterinary skills if you have the money. I would have to say I look for a veterinarian that was all cat care and I found this place. When I first took my my cat Chako for a checkup he was diagnosed with kidney failure. So far I spent quite a bit of money with this Clinic, had his teeth pulled, had test done and so far right now I think he's doing okay. But their prices are definitely high with no discounts for seniors (or those on limited income). Dr. Gallegos has been kind, considerate and caring. The staff also are kind and considerate. But the distance is a little to far and the office visit costs are too high for me. Otherwise I would continue his care there. read more

The staff was amazing and very helpful, I took my senior cat Jack here because he had a big gash under his left year from an injury. He really hated the car ride and was drooling and vomiting a lot and the staff kindly offered to wash his kennel for me. The veterinarian saw him very quickly and she was very nice to him. This place is the best! I have a litter of kittens from a feral momma, and limited funds. I was losing my mind when they became sick, thinking I'd have to drain myself dry to keep them alive (any other vet probably would have) but this place was very reasonable and accommodating and showed genuine concern for the kitties health. It's been a while since I've stepped foot in a veterinary office without feeling a little taken advantage of. I wish I had cats of my own -- because I would absolutely take them here! THIS IS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO TAKE YOUR CAT I recently took my cat here & they told me it was only a virus he got from fighting with another cat. That it would be an easy fix. I ended up spending almost 300 dollars for his treatment & a test to check if he had leukemia. They said it came out negative. After his visit he got worse so I took him to VCA animal hospital, I showed them what they had given my cat & told them the test they had done at this hospital came out negative but after they examined him they decided to do another test for leukemia which came out positive. & the doctor there had told me that this hospital didn't use a good brand or else they would of caught it. My cat went through a lot of pain. I had no option but to put my cat to sleep. I don't recommend spending your money here. read more

I took my cat Quincy there for years. I spent hundreds of dollars trying to figure out why he was having seizures. They diagnosed him with eplipesy years ago, then prescribed him medication that fixed the problem. After a while of no seizures they recommended weaning him off the medication. A couple of months ago, the seizures came back. They prescribed the same medication, which helped. I tried to refill that prescription today, and because they didn't update Quincy's medical records from years ago and DIDN'T LIST THAT THEY PRESCRIBED MEDICATION BACK IN JANUARY, they ACCUSED ME of using his medication for HUMAN CONSUMPTION!!! I have never been so hurt or offended for trying to keep my cat happy and comfortable. I will NEVER take him or my other cats there again. How DARE THEY make that kind of accusation without ensuring their records were updated or talking with the most recent prescribing doctor first?!! They can go to Hell. read more

I can't say enough kind words about Riverside Cat Hospital. Our regular vet retired and we aren't happy with his replacement. Before we found a new place, one of our cats got sick. I called Riverside Cat Hospital yesterday, late afternoon, and they agreed to see her first thing this morning. In the interim, another one of our cats seemed to be getting as sick as she was. I called this morning and without hesitation they said bring him too. The staff was so warm and accommodating. The doctor was knowledgeable and nice, spending a good deal of time with us. I just tried to make a first appointment for my cat, as a new patient, and politely asked for options to minimize the number of visits by putting procedures together, as my cat was a feral kitten and is easily frightened. A lady named Pam made no attempts to be helpful or offer suggestions for my request and said I would need to bring my cat several times for simple vaccinations and neutering. When I asked again for options to try to lump some procedures together and do it in les visits, she rudely asked me to call other places that may be more accommodating to my request. I did just that and easily found someone much more helpful, less condescending and understanding of my situation. Great way to welcome new patients Pam, by asking them to call other doctors instead of attempting to be helpful! I am new to the area and was in search of a vet for my cat of nine years. She was spoiled by having an at-home vet when we lived in a big city, so I was hoping to find a place and doctor she wouldn't be too stressed by. We saw Dr. Agarwal both times we've been there. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. I love that this hospital is only for cats (no dog smell or fear that other types of animals will freak the cat out). My cat was totally calm, the environment is clean, sweet and relaxed and the staff and doctors are all kind and compassionate. You can tell they really love cats. They even follow up with appt reminders and called to check in after my cat had a vaccine to see how she was doing. They even have a pod machine for tea and coffee in the waiting area as an added bonus. We've found our place! read more

A bit pricey. The vet recommended my cat to have dental cleaning, but it's a lot of money out of pocket. So I decided to get pet insurance and do a wellness plan in Bandfield Animal Hospital to save money on vet visits and dental cleanings. However, I was very satisfied with how the vet assessed my cat. She was very thorough and really took her time answering my questions and assuring me. She treated my cat well and he seemed to like her. Services are amazing, just not a fan of the money I'll have to pay out of pocket if I bring my cat here every year. read more

They treat them all with tender respect and make them feel really safe being there. I was referred to Riverside Cat Hospital by a co-worker after I found an injured, stray kitty outside of the office. Earlier that day I had called another vet clinic and they couldn't accommodate him even though his situation was urgent. I called Riverside Cat Hospital and they were able to get me in THAT SAME DAY! When I called, Pam was super friendly on the phone. Everyone who helped us, from the tech to the doctor, was wonderful. They took such good care of our little guy, they were very sincere in their concern for the animals and they even helped me come up with a great name for our new addition to the family. They offered a new patient credit as well as a referral credit, which helped offset the costs of the surgery a little bit, so that was a happy surprise!
