I have gotten two bikes from here and both times the process has been awesome, thanks to Steve and the young man with wonderful hair. Steve always goes out of his way and makes sure I am all set to go. People on here complain they don't greet you and customer service is bad, please don't listen to that, they're just really busy! There's only so much of them to help you, once they get to you their customer service is awesome. Getting a bike is a process and as a customer we tend to ask a lot of questions which they help educate and point you in the right direction. I purchased my Trek from them back in 2011 and have been happily riding it ever since. It was time for a tune up and since this is the only bike store I'm familiar with, I took it to them for service. I splurged on their "gold" service package, which is not cheap at $195. It included a full bike wash, which was not impressive, with no attention to detail. More like a quick drive thru car wash at the gas station, just a lot more expensive! I found several areas on the bike that had been missed on this "full wash". I replaced a chain and cassette. They didn't charge for labor to put on but you have to buy the parts from them, which are a few bucks more than if you shop elsewhere. I bought a tube for $9.99 and the guy didn't tell me they were going to charge $10 just to put it on. I saw it on my receipt when I left. What happened to installation being included if you buy the item there and are paying $195? When I went to pick up, they had added a new tire without calling me for approval. Yes, my old tire did have a small hole and needed replacement, but you should still call the customer to advise and give options. He did end up taking off the price to install the tube and said he gave me a discount on the tire, but when I later looked up that specific tire, it was already a discontinued model, so probably not much of a deal after all. Walked out of there paying almost $300. Ouch. I will say the turn around time was quick, but I would rather them take longer and pay more attention to the details. The location has plenty of parking, but beware of the homeless walking through the parking lot heading to their encampment. The Cyclery has been around a long time and even though I wasn't a fan of the "gold" package, I would still purchase another bike from there and would get the less expensive tune up next time. read more

Recently, I brought my bike here because it wasn't shifting correctly or completely, the tech asked if it had been sitting for awhile, recommended I buy this cleaner/lubricant and spray it in the shifter, it worked. I needed to have my bike tune up- I went there in early June. I asked them how long would it take to tune up my bike. They said somewhere between 1-2 weeks so I left the bike with them. 1-2 weeks becomes over a month! I called approx 2 weeks after I left the bike with them. They said the bike is not ready and they also said if I read a small print that they have until July 13 to work on my bike and they actually waited until the 13th. About a week before 13th, I stopped by their shop, the bike is still not ready. 13th passed and I still heard nothing. I called on 14th to see if my bicycle is ready only to find out it is ready already. I didn't get any call from them. Disappointed that they didn't keep their word 1-2 weeks which became over a month. read more

Took my husband's custom wheelchair in here for a tire repair. Thankfully they had the tube size we needed, and quickly fixed the tire to get my husband back on the road. I've given Cyclery Riverside thousands of dollars worth of business, especially in their old location. When I took my MTB in just to change a few tubes a month ago, I explained to the guy that I get a flat on the back tire every single time I go out. I asked them to see if there's anything wrong with the tire itself. $60 dollars later, they told me they changed the tubes and everything is fine. I went out once, and sure enough, I got a flat tire. When I called, I was told that there are no money back guarantees and that if I didn't trust them that I could change the tube myself. Think about that! I'm giving you business because I want to help you stay open during a pandemic and you're telling me to do it myself. Ok. Avoid these arrogant bike techs at all costs. read more

What I love about this business is the customer service, the price and the top quality of the repair service. We bought a bike chain about a month ago and they installed it. I should have test driven it but didn't and the chain broke off. We bring in the bike and Jimmy didn't give us any flack. Even though they were super busy, the bike was fixed within the hour. Nick helped us and made what was probably the best sales experience I have ever had. I used to use this place a lot and spent quite a bit of money over there for a decade. However, most recent visit there for a part (bottom bracket) really soured my opinion. Got GXP bottom bracket, walked out and looked at box in car to see it looked like it was previously opened up (which I am okay with... as long as part is new and working, right?) However, when it is missing the bearing shield and wavy washer, that was alarming. I went back in to let them know and one of the guy flat out LIED to me it doesn't come with that?! I bought over 5 of same parts over last decade and NEVER once it didn't come with either. Guy went back to find it (he shouldn't have to... he should have just gone to find brand new unopened box of it) and never found it. I left with disgust and vowed not to return here. There are select few faces I remember but a lot of new faces (yup the person lied in front of me is newer face) but honest is the minimum thing I am looking for. My next bike won't be from them. read more

Went in to look to possibly purchase a new bike and was not even acknowledged by the two employees at the front door register. They had too much involvement in their conversation to even say hi. I walked the shop floor and back out to the front door again ignored by the two having the conversation at the front register. Just as I was reaching the door a voice from the back of the store tells out "hey guy did you need something". I have bought three bikes here in the past. So, I have a used cop bike that was given to me by my brother in law. It's a GT and it used to run really well. I took it here for a minor adjustment to the gears. The gears weren't shifting properly, I needed a seat adjustment (to make it shorter), and also needed a new back tire. I do not know much about bike repairs.. so I trusted this shop, I regret it. The gears only worked properly for about 2 weeks, they're back to how they were when I brought it in. Also I didn't notice any new parts or other adjustments on the gears.. the seat... ffs I was swindled into buying a horrible presale seat for $25. He literally took it off a new bike and fitted on mine. The tire is ok but it's a heavier type of tire that affects the speed on my bike to. I paid $200 altogether and the workmanship was disgraceful. I regret bringing my GT here. I'm back where I started. And YES the staff there is rude. They're heads are in outer space or something idk. It took them about a whole month to "Mickey Mouse" my bike. Staff is unprofessional, workmanship is untrustworthy, they'll swindle you... f*** this place. I should've watched some YouTube videos and order the parts.. read more

Called them up, they were available and got them back to us in a few days just like knew. Can't say enough good things about them. He asked for a bike for Christmas, I couldn't afford a new one so I bought a like new one for $25 on Offerup. I bought my son and myself a bike here. Great team and very knowledgeable in what they do. I purchased the x caliber for my son and the specialized allez for myself. I'm new to cycling so I went in with questions. Not so much for my kids bike but for mine. They sized me up for a 58 and explained all the different options to me. Being a beginner I didn't wanna spend a lot so they recommend the specialized allez. It's a very nice entry level pricing at $750. With their 60 day layaway option I was able to make it possible.
