We have been wanting to try Riverside for a while now. Tonight was the night and they did not disappoint. Came during happy hour, was able to get Zombie dust on draft for $3.25, winning. We ordered the sampler appetizer which was out of this world. Hot, and fried to perfection, 100% crisp and zero sogginess. For dinner we ordered Chicago style pie and it was also fabulous. super good, i like putting a shit ton of the chili flakes on my pizza it's like an orgasm, the pizza is super good and so is everything else, though the fries are kind of iffy. if i was hungry enough i would eat a whole large pan pepperoni pizza by myself with half of the glass container of chili flakes. it's very good and if you don't like it you're lame. it's kind of loud, it's hard to spill family drama with the noise but it just takes time getting used to. service is as expected, depending on if they're busy or not. the upstairs is cool too, wish it was open more often. read more

Stopped in here on a busy Saturday with Scarecrow Fest goin on this place was hopping. The wait staff were all friendly and appreciated all the guests being there. We went on a Monday and it was packed and we did not know it was half-price pizza night much to our surprise everybody in the party seemed to enjoy their food even though it was really a struggle to even get silverware which you normally need that to eat with, napkins and boxes for our food. it was just so loud and crowded that the service was of course a little lacking a member of my party left a personal article behind and was able to retrieve it after about an hour and a half. This place has tasty food. Great fresh salads and love the thin crispy pizza. It's a good lunchtime pick. Don't go at night. The service is super slow at night. We have tried to eat there 3 times at night and we are always irritated by the end. They may be understaffed- but the net result is no drink refills and sitting for 45minutes for the check and to go box. (Even then we had to ask for the check). Also, upstairs is a popular place for large loud groups. Don't ever eat upstairs unless you don't want to hear what your table people have to say. read more

Great place to go sit and catch the games with a good pizza. We like their jalapeño poppers too. It's pretty loud in there, but you expect that with the tv screens. Only negative is picking up to-go orders. No specific place except at the end of the bar. Same place everyone walks in and out of the kitchen and rings up and picks up drinks. A milestone in downtown St. Charles for a long as I can remember. We love, love this place. I wish there were more stars available for this rating... There are sooo many beers to choose from... The bartender and the customers at the bar, will help you pick out your favorite beer... even ones you didn't even realize you would like. The aroma of the pizza draws you in from off the street. We ordered the Deluxe thin pizza. Perfect crust that holds up the toppings beautifully. I wish the people back in Seattle would realize that you are supposed to cut pizza in squares, not trangles. There's also a restaurant upstairs, but if you want the full pub experience witht the kindest midwest hospitality, I would suggest staying downstairs. This is for the Riverside Pizza in South Elgin. We just got back from Riverside Pizza in South Elgin and while we were there I ordered a pizza without red onion, Low and behold Jackie messed it up and my pizza had red onion on it. She did ask if we wanted another one made and we declined but she should have maybe take a little money off the bill for HER mistake. I have been to the St. Charles and Batavia locations and they are very good and have never messed up my order. My husband still gave her a good tip but she's lucky I didn't pay the bill because she wouldn't have gotten a tip at all. read more

Went on a Monday holiday, Labor Day. Only had one server for the entire restaurant, which was packed. So while waitress was working hard service was very slow. Painfully slow. Owner needs to staff for the holiday weekend. At least 4 groups left due to the wait. Kids and wife had pizza, which was pretty good. Nacho appetizer was fairly average. Ended up at Riverside after a show at Arcada. Not wanting to drive to other late night pubs, I made the quick decision to come here because we were hungry campers. Would not have been my first pick in lovely downtown St. Charles, but at 11pm on a Friday night, it was open and conveniently located across the street from the theatre. The good - they had pizza! In addition to alcoholic beverages. They don't call it Riverside "Pizza and Pub" for nothing...Menu has your standard bar/pub offerings and LOTS to choose from although we couldn't try any since the kitchen closed right when we arrived..(go figure). Entertainment did not stop at Arcada but continued throughout the night and it was free! We walked into a lively & somewhat inebriated crowd. Although I had a good buzz going myself, I couldn't help but notice one woman trying to sit on some guy's lap and "make-out" sessions were continuous...Heads-up - this is not your 20 something crowd, more like 40 something +. Comfortable amount of inebriate-rs, oops..I mean patrons ;) Seemed like a place where locals like to hang out. Most were seated at the bar. We sat ourselves at one of the many open tables. Cozy place with a definite pub feel...they also have a section upstairs. A Server from the bar came over to us fairly quickly and as soon as we inquired about the menu, we were told the kitchen just closed. (11pm, fyi). I had the munchies and missed dinner, so I was happy when he told us only pizza slices were available...that's always music to my ears... We each got a cheese slice (around $4 per slice if I had to guess). Two drinks + 2 slices = $20. Pizza was decent, not bad. Little greasy. Crust was thicker than your average thin. Although it was satisfying, slices were on the small side... I probably could have eaten 2, and at $4/slice, they could've been more generous.. It did start to get busier as the night went on. I had to flag down a waitress to get our check, otherwise service was friendly and drinks and slices arrived quickly.. If your looking for some free entertainment (haha) and late night snacks, this isn't a bad choice....we briefly spoke to one guy who happened to arrive after the concert - otherwise, I imagine more of a hangout for locals. I wouldn't go out of my way to return just because there are SO MANY fantastic dining establishments in this vicinity (and pizza joints). They just close way too early.. Super convenient spot if you need to park yourself somewhere after a visit to Arcada and it happens to be before (or after) 11pm - or plan on pizza with your drinks. read more

I wish there was an option lower than one star. I usually only write a Yelp review for great service and if it's bad I just know not to order again. Unfortunately, I could not let this one go. After having to return the first pizza that was delivered to us due to it being made incorrectly & having an actual puddle of grease sitting in the middle, this is what we received as our replacement (see photo). After asking to speak with the manager multiple times, we finally got a call from the owner, Steve. When we spoke to the owner he stated he saw the photo and "it wasn't that bad"/"You should have slid the cheese back on and it'd be fine". I asked Steve if he would accept a pizza like that for his family or coworkers, especially after already having an issue, he told me that the pizza "didn't look bad, I would have gladly ate it" .....seriously? I couldn't make this stuff up if even if I tried. I'm in shock that a business could be run at all, let alone successfully, when the OWNER doesn't even set the bar high. Also---After 3 hours, I had to call EAT24 myself just to get an okay for a refund and we ended up without a pizza. Which is fine by me, if this is what they think pizza is suppose to look like. On customer service alone, I'll never recommend this place to any friends or family. They clearly don't hold themselves to much of any standard at all when it comes to their quality of food and service. read more

We just got a plain cheese pizza, it was beyond greasy and not as good as a Jack's frozen pizza, that was a bummer. Maybe it would be better to go when it's busy, the action may improve the ambiance. We hosted our rehearsal/welcome dinner at Riverside Pizza & Pub the night before our wedding. We wanted a venue that was casual yet nice enough that we would want to invite out of town guest to. Riverside Pizza perfectly fit the bill! The exposed brick and wooden tables are very charming. We had the upstairs space to ourselves (easily fit 60 people) and had buffet style salad and pizza for our guests, which was delicious! Riverside was very flexible in terms of how we could offer alcohol (we went with drink tickets), and allowed us to bring in our own dessert. Thanks for a lovely time! read more

Went to try the new place in town. The new inside is clean and fresh looking. They did a very nice job creating a unique space. First, wanted to play the jukebox and the music they had on was very loud so I thought that jukebox would be the same, but you could hardly hear it. we didn't get alcohol this time around but I look forward to coming back and seeing what's on their beer menu. The pop seemed a bit off as my Coke was a little weak, not enough syrup in the mix. My wife had a diet Coke which tasted flat. We ordered wings and Italian beef there was 5 of us. You guys having the Italian beefs said they were very good. Omg! We ended up here twice in 1 weekend Friday night for a pizza with friends, we sat upstairs. It was very busy but the service was outstanding. We were waited on by Ronnie D. He was friendly and prompt with refills. The pizza was amazing! We had a pan pizza & a thin crust; both were cooked to perfection. My daughter had fettuccine Alfredo, it was hot fresh sauce not the gooey cheese like stuff at Olive Garden. We also had some cheese sticks & they were fresh cheese & hand dipped in beer batter light and crispy! Not the freezer burned kind I can get at Super Target & make at home. We went on a quiet Sunday night. Service was great. You could hear the nfl game on tv. Lots of beer specials. We ordered a thin pizza half pepperoni and half sausage. The pepperoni and sausage weren't overly flavorful and didn't overpower the flavor of the pizza. More on the bland side. The crust was not super thin, but not a thicker hand tossed variety either. It was crunchy and delicious, even crunchy down to the center pieces with a light dusting of cornmeal on the bottom. Pizza was pretty good. Went here on Monday, August 27, 2018 for the half-price pizza special. We arrived around 4:30 pm while things were still on the quieter side. - Thin pizza was "pretty good" - we had cheese and sausage. We would def get this again. - Nachos - "barely ok". Also pricey ($13 + tax if you ask for beef or chicken added, otherwise $10), but they do give you an entire large bowl of them, even my family and I couldn't finish them all. My complaint is first - that the chips themselves looked/seemed "greasy" (even the chips without any cheese or condiments on them), and B. it was literally just tons of cheese out of the can (similar to what you get at the grocery store, ie. Gehl's or La Preferida) dumped all over with a little ground beef mixed in. It was a big sloppy mess, NOT THAT GOOD, and not consistent with your typical restaurant nachos nicely made on a regular plate with melted shredded cheese and condiments. Literally something you could have made at home for under $4. Would never get these again here, especially at $13. - Beefs - "ehhh OKAY". I would not recommend, especially at the price of 8-9 dollars. They do come with fries, but the beef seemed to be no different than the store bought 'Papa Charlies.' Had some weird spicy flavor and just wasn't all that great, especially compared to much better Italian beef like Portillos, Frankie's, or Augustino's (which are all cheaper, btw). - Service was very good. There seemed to only be one waitress (black hair, cute) who was running around with her head cut off - serving tables, serving the bar, answering the continuous ringing phone, and bringing the orders to the back. She worked her tail off. Eventually, another bartender or two came in for their shift, but the first hour or so this waitress was clearly overworked, but did pretty well considering. We did notice a "help wanted" sign on the window, too. - Actual place was decent, historic. The acoustics isn't that great so if you are in the dining area with family and you have a few loud rowdy people at the bar, it becomes very loud. A minor nuisance for somebody like me - but - if you are older, or taking the kids out per se, this may not be the best place to try and converse with your family. :) Overall, the pizza was good and for that alone I'd return, or get carry-out. I cannot at all recommend the nachos, especially at that gouged price. read more
