I bought my Puma Romeo 150cc scooter at Riverside Scooters in Riverside, California on 4/27/2012 and the dealer, Mike, was very helpful both during sales and after sales. Of course, in addition to reading the DMV motorcycle manual, I researched the internet for other scooters and dealers prior to my decision and visited several of them. I asked questions on things that I already know the answer just to gauge what type of dealer I'm dealing with. One dealer told me that I don't need a license to ride a 50cc scooter! He also exaggerated the top speed of his 50cc scooters. Another dealer had me and my wife the visual impression that its scooters were cheaply made even though the engines (Honda GY6) were the same as mine. Riverside Scooters did not exaggerate the capabilities of its scooters, was very honest with me and other customers, and its Puma scooters do not look like cheap junks. A couple of months after when I needed to tighten a wheel nut but did not have the right size tool, Mike tightened it for me himself. My buying decision at that time was based only on price (almost 1/3 the price of a similarly sized Vespa), ability to easily handle a street speed limit of 45 mph (150cc), an honest and fair dealer, and nothing else. Appearance factored in only in my differentiating between models. Fortunately, several people I've never met in my life told me that my scooter was beautiful. Warranty is 1 year, same as Honda and Yamaha, but longer than most Chinese scooters. I felt at that time, and still do, that Puma scooters have the best value for my needs and an honest and fair local dealer that I can work with. The scooter's claimed top speed is 55+ mph. I rode it no more than 45 mph during the brake-in period; thereafter, 40 - 50 mph was my typical speed. I don't remember going over the red line (50 mph) but I feel that the claimed top speed is realistic. Unlike most reviews I've read about the speedometers of other brand of scooters, mine is accurate, verified by 3 different street speed sensors. For the 1st month, I kept a log of gasoline consumption and mileage, which resulted to 75 mpg, very close to the claimed gas mileage. Currently, I've logged in almost 3000 miles. It has not broken down on me yet so I cannot complain on reliability. My typical route to work requires passing through 3 cities (Riverside, Moreno Valley, and Perris) and includes a 4 mile section of about 6 to 15 percent grade hill and a windy afternoon return commute. I'm very satisfied with this scooter because it delivered what I expected it to do: primary vehicle for commuting daily to work. After 2 months I took the MSF course at Honda Rider Course using their provided Honda PCX 125cc. I cannot tell a significant difference on handling, and unlike my Puma Romeo, the PCX seat was uncomfortable for me. I was the only one on scooter during that class and several of my classmates, as I expected, had some initial difficulty on the motorcycle clutches. My scooter is fully automatic and is at its best on a paved "stop and go" traffic which on a motorcycle could mean pressing the clutch "a hundred times". I can't imagine what that will do to my carpal tunnel syndrome. I'm 5'-4", 150 lbs and the size and weight of the scooter fits me well. Parking is a breeze. Fortunately, I've never dropped this scooter yet. Just remember to routinely check and tighten all those nuts and bolts that can normally loosen with riding. Follow the manual's service schedule and do not treat the scooter as a toy. Avoid redlining it. I treat mine like it's my only vehicle even though I own a van, SUV, and a sedan. I went to Riverside Scooters because a friend just happened to see the sign. I had been looking around for about a year at different shops and decided that I would give Riverside Scooters a try. I am a middle school teacher and needed a scooter that would save me a few dollars towards my gas bill. The minute that I walked in, Mike (owner) greeted me with a firm handshake. Now that is a positive business attitude! I was interested in a purchase because I had enjoyed riding scooters in the past to and from school. I liked a 50cc....but Mike thought that I might be interested in the 150cc Song Bird. Well, I went home and thought about that scooter for about 5 days and nights. I took a few pictures and sent the pictures to my children for an approval. It did not take me long to figure out that this businessman (Mike) knew his "stuff". He did not pressure me, was patient and wanted to make sure that I would be happy with my final decisions. I became a proud owner of a white Songbird, purchased in April, 2012. Since then, Mike is not just an awesome businessman but a good friend. I have been asked a few times at stop signs or traffic lights if that is a 50cc or where did you get that bike! I tell them about Riverside Scooters and how much I love this scooter...but more how I admire the businessman/owner. I have saved enough money on gas to pay for more goodies for my 7 and 1/2 grandchildren. Yes..that is correct, I am a grandma..looking forward to the new little one in July. So, you can ride a brand new scooter from Riverside Scooters at any age, save money and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Best of all...are the owner and his mechanic. They have already serviced my scooter and have gone out of their way to make sure that the Song Bird is in top running condition... that makes me happy. When gas prices started to climb (again) I decided I wanted a scooter to do my errands etc. My husband found a used one and bought it for me. After owning it for about 2 weeks, I found it to be so much fun and so practical and even more surprising, my husband, who already has a Harley, decided he liked it to. So, after much research and looking around, we decided to buy 2 new scooters for ourselves. I read everything I could about the various brands and we visited several dealers. When it came time to buy, there was no question what brand we were going to buy and where we were going to buy them. Well, since I had already done my homework on scooters in general, I knew that Puma offered one of the best/longest warranties, and having the scooter shop right here in our area for routine maintenance were huge advantages. More importantly, the quality of the scooters we chose and the service we received at Riverside Scooters was top shelf! Mike is great and made us a great deal! We financed the purchase using the zero down financing Riverside scooters offered, and the financing paperwork and processing was simple and speedy. It took less than an hour to get the financing. We called our insurance company and drove scooters out of the shop within a very short time of choosing them. It was great & the terms are easy too! Mike also offered us a lay-away option, but I was anxious to have my scooter right away. Since our purchase, Mike has since been great getting us some of the add ons/ options we both wanted and we love stopping by the shop to see whats new. the scooters are PERFECT, the look good & run great. I purchased a 50cc Tao Tao Zummer through Mike a year ago this month. This is my second scooter. I found Mike online after doing research. I liked his reviews so I went into his shop. I wanted a scooter that he wasn't advertising on his website or had in his shop. Mike said he could get it and he did. He did right by me on the sale and was very knowledgable. Back in August 2018 I purchased a new 250cc Scooter from a private party on cycle trader. Literally 2 weeks after purchasing my new scooter, my scooter was run over by a truck and dragged underneath. The scooter I bough was a 2008 and being 10 years old I figured I would never find the plastics for the scooter. Luckily the only thing damaged was in fact the plastics on the scooter. At the scene of the accident the only person I called was Mike at Riverside Scooter. Mike told me he would do his best and try and find the plastics but he said that it wouldn't be easy for him to find a set. I was in an accident on a Saturday night at 4:40pm and even though Mike's shop is closed on Sunday's and Monday's Mike was kind enough to come open his shop for me on Sunday. I came by and dropped of my scooter to Mike first thing in the morning. 2 days later to my delight on a Tuesday Mike called me and told me he found a set of plastics brand new never used. Honestly I could have kissed the guy. I really thought I would have to take my scooter to an auto body shop and even then I knew my scooter would never look right again. My scooter was pretty much brand new before it was hit. Even though it was a 2008 there was only 400 miles on my scooter with not a scratch on it. I came into Riverside Scooters after seeing them on Yelp. Man am I glad I did! I needed to get some service done on the scooter I had bought a couple months ago. It was a 2008 model with only 800 miles on it but it had never had its oil changed. It actually quit starting up on me so I figured it was time to take it in. I called up and Mike answered the phone, said he would be there all day and to bring it in when I could. I rented a truck and brought it there hoping he could bring it back to life. I expected at least 3-4 days turnaround time (what my usual motorcycle shop quotes me) but Mike drove it right up on the lift, ready to go first thing in the morning. That's what you call making customers feel important. The next day he called me around 3:00 saying it was done. The oil (or lack thereof I should say) almost destroyed the engine. I was almost too late to save my beloved scooter! But not to worry Mike said, they had changed the oil 3, YES 3, times before the valves were clean enough to adjust. WOW, it was DIRTY!!!! His mechanic also fixed a couple of bolts and screws that were missing (for free), cleaned the valves, changed the spark plugs, pumped the tires up, and even though they had to change the oil 3 times, he only charged me once for it. We finished up by him telling me you should change your oil every 2-300 miles, and it's not that hard to do by yourself. I dropped into Riverside Scooters with an odd request that had only a little to do with scooters: I had a tubeless wheel-barrow tire that was as flat as week-old roadkill, worthless for its purpose, and it had a bad valve stem that stymied my efforts at repair. This tire was about the size of a scooter tire, so I took a chance and dropped into Riverside Scooter. I laid out my plight to owner Mike Byrne. Mike and his associate took a break from their ongoing work, looked over my limping wheel, and before I heard the end of Mike's first story (he has a lot...) they found the problem. Looked like a bad problem to me: leaking all around the rim. On both sides of the wheel. It was not just bubbling here an there, mind you, but foaming like a rabid bitch. End of that tire, I thought, and I then Owner Mike distracted me with some stories for a few minutes. Then I turned around, and it was done. My old tire: fixed, tested and cleaned up too. Hard again, as the blues man used to sing! And it was done for cheap, to boot! --But more than that, Mike and his buddy stepped out of their scooter-focused business to help me, and they did it out of kindness, and because a thing needed to be made right. That's an attitude you can't buy for money. So, if you need something fixed, or you want to find a riding machine that's built well, my bet is that you'll find it, along with a the right-livin' attitude, at Riverside Scooter. I only write reviews for the very best or worst businesses. So it is without pause that I say that Mike and his shop deserve my time. I found a used scooter identical to the new one in Mike's shop that I planned to purchase. Essentially, he lost the sale. But when I brought it in to look over, he treated me like one of his own customers. He gave me a free headlight bulb and lent his tools for me to replace it right there (so as to determine if more than the bulb needed repair). This is to say that he didn't swindle me into a costly "rewiring" job. Then, I brought the scooter to him when concerned about it not firing up easily, nor running smoothly. His mechanic (also named Mike) came in on his day off and performed a valve adjustment while teaching me everything he was doing. He provided a couple tips and tricks during the process and even undid the whole thing to make a tiny second adjustment when he said, "It could run better." Wow. I was impressed. He could've billed me for the job the first time but took the effort to get it right (even though I couldn't tell there was anything wrong). All the while, another guy in the shop gave me suggestions for how to polish up some scratches. Mike's shop simply oozes with good vibe and generous spirits; a real class act. read more

when you talk about customer satisfaction you could not find a better definition in a dictionary! Not just great service the first time you come, but they continue to exceed expectation time and time again, Their number one priority is you! I have never been more happy with any other businesses services then i have with both Mike the owner, and Mike the mechanic! There are kind, generous, and above all completely honest, so honest its almost to a fault, but like i stated early their aim is customer satisfaction and not personal gain and that is what makes Riverside scooters the only place to go!! Just go and talk to them for even 5 minuets and they make you feel like you have been friends for years. They are more than fair in pricing as well there is honestly not a single negative thing I can say about my experience with Riverside scooters. Amazing customer service, with no pressure to buy even a pencil. My family and I walked into his shop there's music playing and this guy ( Mike, the owner ) smiling and helping another customer. He comes up to us and says " make yourself at home , I will be right with you... and have fun browsing " . We have never been welcomed like that to any store. The store is a total man cave. Mike gives you alllll the answers you want. Honestly, I knew nothing about scooters until today. Now I feel like I can open my own shop because Mike gave me such a complete run down on all types of scooters. I cannot believe there are actual stores with such a personal feel still open. If you go to other shops your INSANE! Riverside scooters , and the owner are amazing people who really will take care of you, and all your scooter needs. Before you look somewhere else ( which would be crazy ) at least call him and pick his brain, I think he enjoys it. :) By the way this guy donates cat and dog food to a no kill shelter every month. EXCELLENT! An absolutely amazing and educational experience I have never come across before. They take the time to do things right and to treat you right. Both Mikes were very kind, very funny (OH MAN, the stories are awesome!) and very professional in what they do. So I just got my own first scooter (been on a couple of them, but not a 150cc) and I'm glad I went to Mike to get one. Not only did he give recommendations, but he also set up my scooter so that it'd run precisely how it should. I JUST picked it up today and rode from his shop all the way to San Bernardino and it runs absolutely perfect. I'm very appreciative of how took their time with me show the basics about maintaining and operating the scooter. And good to know they know the models they sell inside-out, so I'll be going here for maintenance as well. Ask Mike's story about Marvin Gaye; it was not something I saw coming. and the Mechanic (also named Mike) has a hilarious one about when he went to get donuts for his wife! After talking with a friend who purchased a scooter from Mike, then the same friend referred another friend who also purchased a scooter from Mike, I just had to check this place out! I went in with the idea of wanting to buy a scooter, and as soon as I entered the door Mike was chill and cool. He was working with another customer so he gave me a little challenge to do to keep me busy haha. I sat down and we just talked for like an hour before scooters even were mentioned. I had the free time and it was fun to get to know Mike and talk a little about my life. When we finally talked scooters, HE APPLIED NO PRESSURE TO SELL! He was honest and upfront. I appreciated that so much! He assisted me with getting insurance coverage, educated me on the do's and dont's of scooters. Hes just an all around good guy. Well, where to start. Like all the other customers, my experience at Riverside Scooters has been great! I was in the market for my first scooter and had looked on line and visited a large warehouse in Upland that was in the process of relocating to Ontario CA. I later found out that this company frequently moves around because of their extremely poor service. I was lucky to find Mike in Riverside. He answered ALL of my questions and more. He is very laid back and easy to talk to. No high pressure sales, just an enjoyable atmosphere and an overall great experience. I attended my 1st workshop with Mike and learned the basics of maintanance on my scooter. I will be taking it in for the 300 mile service soon. I love riding it, it's fun and with the peace of mind that if something goes wrong I know where to take it makes it even better. It's been a week and I'm still in love with my new scooter. Thanks to Mike for making me feel super welcomed. He repaired my old scooter and I also walked away with a new one. He made it as smooth as possible for me to make up my mind about it. No presure, no everyday stubborn phone calls. I purchased a Torino 150 from his shop, and he had the BEST PRICE I could find on this cute little scooter ....... and I searched a number of other places throughout the So. Cal area. I own and ride a vintage Vespa but wanted something newer and more reliable for my hubby. The candy red SSR Turino with all that beautiful chrome was "the one!". The vintage styling of this scoot will definitely mesh perfectly with our style...hey, it doesn't always have to say Vespa or Lambretta on the legshield for it to be cool!!! Mike was so knowledgeable regarding the Chinese scooters and put our hesitations about purchasing one to rest. We feel confident that he will walk this journey of owning one with us and will be available to help with anything should we need it. Can't say enough great things about Mike Byrne! We bring our scooters to him for everything. He is a scooter expert who can easily tell you the what and why of whatever! Mike treats us like family. I used to spend tons of time online researching solutions to my issues and "good deals". Now, I just have to ask Mike. I trust that he will tell me the truth and give me a fair deal. There are not enough good things i can say about my experience at Riverside Scooters. The shop itself is awesome and always full of cool stuff to look at whether it be the scoots on the floor, the pics on the walls, or Mike's sexy Gibson guitar. And then of course theres Mike! The coolest, most laid back and easy going veteran hippie in all of riverside. He even makes soap! (which i would strongly suggest trying out cus its awesome) I couldn't imagine going anywhere else for any of my scooter needs. He actually saved me from making what could have been pretty bad decisions, and he even helped me financially. Since then I've been cruising through the city going any place I can, and it's awsome. Wow is all I can say. Owner Mike is a man of integrity. Brought in my Lance Charming scooter. A previous repair shop had it for almost 2 months and mis-diagnosed the problem. Mechanic MIke worked his miracles and brought it back to life correcting all the wrong things I had done along with finding out the real problems with the scooter. I hole heatedly invite all to visit this establishment. He has a great selection of scooters for sale, has cool memorabilia hanging on the ways and a very welcoming listening ear.
