I received a call from Ray Block of Riverside VW regarding a used vehicle quote I had gotten from Kelly Blue Book. I was looking for a new car and selling my old. Ray asked what I was looking for and I went into great detail from exterior/interior colors to every amenity I wanted inside. It turned out after his pretty exhaustive search, that there were only 2 cars in CA that fit the criteria. He called me with all the info and I made arrangements to meet him and see the car the next day. Ray drove to San Diego, picked up the car and drove it back, had it washed and ready for me to inspect by 1pm. It was so worth the 2 hour drive in traffic to get this car! I went to this dealership last year and was given one of the worst deals known to man. 84 month finance @ 24% interest with a $650 monthly payment on the most basic of models (Tiguan). I was a first time buyer and Dustin R.'s (salesman) justification and encouragement was that this is how you build your credit. The fact that a salesman of any kind would be happy to put a young first time buyer in this situation is unjust. Yes, I signed the forms and consented to the sale but I was blinded by the fact that I bought something for myself for the first time on my own. If this is what they have done to me, imagine how many other people they have taken advantage of? How easy would it have been to say, "maybe you should consider another vehicle to start off?" or "this seems to be a better option for your credit level?" That would have been the proper way to encourage someone to "build their credit" if that is in fact what he wanted to do. Nothing can be done about it now but to make other potential buyers aware. My husband was preapproved online for financing through advantage auto and he told the lady on the phone our situation and they said no problem. Brenda said that they have many brands and can use any of them. So we went to meet with her and we were accosted by a sales person Brenda told my husband to only talk to her not sales because she works for the financing company but her office is at volkswagen. we asked for her and the sales people got all offended so when Brenda came down, she wanted us to work with Cade. But after hearing our situation, he had to go do something really quick but would be right back. OK fine, so we are working with George. We told him we are not opposed to other brands if we can get financed and told him our budget and everything. he wanted to get my credit too because our situation is not great or ideal we know it but we were told by Brenda is not a big deal and they do it all the time. So, he told us that we should look at a Jetta S base model and an Atlas SE with technology package. We told George that we don't mind the less loaded Atlas with the 2.0 engine and he said oh there's more room in the SE tech package with v6 to swallow negative equity. We were not even offered the test drive on either car and they started working a deal (what if we don't like the car and you wasted all that time for nothing?) . Plus there is an offer to test drive a car and get a gift card but that was overlooked because they don't have them obviously. The manager told us that he needs more time to talk to the banks (because of 4k negative equity and said "they cant just give the car away")for our situation and he'd know more Monday and we were cool with that. We told him if they cant do it just be upfront with us so we do not waste time and gas getting there from South Corona. About 30 minutes after we left, George calls and tells us that he wants us to come in Sunday after 12pm because they can do the deal. We get there and George is "unavailable" however when we walked in he was not with a customer and then he magically disappeared even though we had an appointment with him and this other guy I do not know his name went to the sales manager and he said oh you got a cosigner? We did not know what he was talking about at all and he went on to say we needed a cosigner and 7k down to do the deal. Wow that was news to us and that was something that could have been addressed on the phone so we did not waste our time and gas coming there. The guy got all mad when I said I was going to post on yelp and facebook because they were unprofessional. He then said well yelp the bank its not our fault. No it's your fault for trying to put us into a fully loaded car we did not want instead of a base model because you have more hold back money in the loaded one. It is your fault for not communicating the terms of the deal on the phone and asking if we wanted to go forward with it or not. It's called being professional and your dealer is at fault for being anything but. read more

I bought my 2017 Golf Alltrack here 2 years ago. I love that car. Last May I went in because I was having trouble with the right rear tire. They had patched it a few months earlier and it seemed to be leaking again. I took it in and they told me they don't re patch a tire twice and I would have to buy a new tire. I didn't want to but I did. She had to order it since they don't carry them in stock. I was told to come back the next day and I did. I sat there for 3 hours while they (I thought) put the new tire on and checked everything. About 2 weeks ago we noticed that the same tire was registering "low pressure" I was due for an oil change anyway so I went today and told them I'm having trouble with the same tire. I was told that, it is a patched tire. I said "check again" it's a new tire that you had me buy in May! She had the guy check and he said "no that's the old tire" There are no new tires on your car. Oh boy was I pissed. I made her check the computer records again and she said yes you bought a tire in May but it's not on your car. WHAT? She told me she had one in the back that was the exact same tire I bought in May and she would put that one on. Then she had the GM go look at my car. He came back and said the tire that is sitting back there matches the DOT# that belongs to the tire you bought in May. WHAT? So your telling me that when I was here in May, paid of a tire, sat here for 3 hours, that NO ONE PUT IT ON MY CAR? He said he was sorry. This is completely UNACCEPTABLE! He even took the tire off my car to show me that it was the OLD TIRE. So for the last 3 months I have been driving around on a tire that could have exploded while I am on the road! He offered to reimburse me for the tire. NOT GOOD ENOUGH VW... You messed up big time. Who ever you have working in the service bay should be FIRED NOW. I told him I have been a loyal customer for years. I have owned a Jetta, GTI, CC and now this Golf. I can not stand behind a company who would do something like this and only offer me a refund. How would VW feel if that tire blew and I was killed or seriously injured because of it? DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALER. DO NOT HAVE YOUR CAR SERVICED HERE. We purchased (cash) a 2009 VW Jetta TDI and absolutely love everything about the car... except some of the maintenance costs. THIS VW IS AN EXTREMELY ENJOYABLE, VERY PREDICTABLE DRIVING & HANDLING VEHICLE... with 104,000 miles on the odometer to date; this car still looks like new... and is extremely well built. It should be noted that the "Riverside VW Service Department" has provided just about all of the service and maintenance work on this vehicle at unbeatable prices... and exceptional service. We own a 2009 VW Jetta TDI, which my son enjoyed so much he purchased a 2010 VW Jetta TDI with a 6-Speed Manual Transmission... he loves his VW also; and received excellent service as well. What more can we say? 5 friends have all purchased their VWs (all TDI models) from Riverside VW with similar outstanding experiences... with my only complaint being a problem with my air conditioning compressor going out several times (and needing replaced twice)... the parts & labor seeming pricy to replace. OH But what a wonderful driving car the Germans build with these amazingly fun cars to drive! We have owned just about every brand of car you can name... and this VW is by far our favorite in every way. We regularly get over 38 to 40 miles per gallon on our 2009 6-Speed Automatic Transmission VW.. with the highest mileage being 45 MPG driving an average of 75 MPH from Redding California. I purchased my car about 3-4 months ago and at the time I was promised by Dustin Riley that the first 3 scheduled services would be COMPLIMENTARY. I recently tried to call into the service department and was told that there was nothing on file and I would have to pay full price. The service department told me to call the sales associate and figure out why there were no notes in my file. I tried to call Dustin a number of times only to be given a fake "We're extremely busy I'll call you right back" every time. After about 4 days I gave up waiting for a call and called the on duty manager Sal Paduano. Sal paged Dustin and literally within seconds I heard Dustins voice. Which was surprising because Dustin had just told me it was too busy to call me back. Sal preceded to question Dustin about what he promised and now all of a sudden he doesn't remember promising anything. Again I was offered THREE COMPLIMENTARY service which means free. Both Dustin and Sal told me it was out of their hands and they couldn't do anything about it. So today I called the General Sales Manager Mike Koury to explain my situation and see what could be done about what was promised. After filling him in on what his sales associate promised me he told me that there's no way they would promise something like that and I must've confused what was said to me. He continued to tell me that it wasn't in the contract I signed so there's not much he can do. I was promised by Dustin Riley that I would get 3 complimentary services needless to say that actually increased my interest in the car and provided an incentive to buy. Why is it my responsibility to put it in writing? He offered me a 50% discount on ONE service which is no where even close to what I was promised. After he offered me that I laughed and said it was ridiculous. When I asked if that was all he (The GSM) could do he said no that if he wanted to he could pay off my car. So why can't they own up to their mistake and give me what was promised. Mike Koury decided he no longer wanted to talk to me about the situation and told me I now have to call the dealership principal and resolve my issues with him.
