Cajun Queso & chips- not very Cajun, just basic cheese
    Melinda P.

Not an impressive first time visit. Once seated it took 10 minutes for our server to even approach us. We ordered water & a beer menu. She returned, took my husbands order for his flight of beer and walked away before I could order a drink. The flight consists of 4 beers which he chose, when they arrived we were informed that they were out of 1 of them so the bartender gave us one of their choice ‍ not one my husband would have chosen. 1 of the glasses the beer was served in was chipped and cracked. We ordered an appetizer, which was just ok. The waitress didn't come back for a very long time so we decided to cash out and go eat dinner elsewhere.

This restaurant offers a nice view of the river. The meals take a while to prepare but everything is made fresh to order which makes the wait worth it. Our appetizers were the brisket cheese fries and the meatball. The brisket cheese fries were gooey, creamy goodness and the brisket added a smoky pop of flavor. The meatball is made of beef, veal, and pork. It's tender and juicy and has a nice marinara sauce with a side of bread. The club sandwich was nice and fresh, but nothing special. The cheeseburger was cooked to our liking and had great flavor. We ordered the strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was a freshly prepared shortcake biscuit with a touch of sugar, homemade whipped cream and strawberry compote. It was light, refreshing, and flavorful. We can't wait to go back and try more. Update: so we went back again last night and the wait was about 30 minutes because they were short staffed. Our waitress was good until they brought our dinner and then she basically forgot about us. Regardless of our service, the food was still excellent.

To echo previous reviews, naming this as river view is a bit on the generous side. Yes, you can see the river through the window, But you are simply looking at the casino on the other side. Service was quick. I was promptly seated and the waitress came over quickly. Considering that I came on a Sunday during lunch time, I would have thought there would be more customers. Either the church goers had not come in yet, or the gamblers did not want to get off their machines, or this place is just not that good during the day. I'm not really sure. The cajun mac and cheese left something to be desired. It was very oily. The sausage and crawfish in it were good, and there was a lot of it. But the oiliness did not sit well with me. There were several televisions with the sportsballs playing on them. Upstairs seemed to be an adult game room with billiards. If I come back on my next trip to the area, I might try something else on the menu, or another restaurant. Who knows.

Excellent Chicken fried steak! Waitress very sweet.

I think this bowl of pasta was one of the best I've ever had. It had more meat than pasta but I was not mad at it at all. It had pretty much a whole chicken breast, sausage, crawfish, artichoke heart, mushrooms, and tons of cheese. I also sampled my mom's barbecue salad and it was so good! They definitely don't skimp on the portion size. Other than the great food, the restaurant is pretty and clean. The service was great. The view of the Red River while you dine is great too. Tons of parking in the Margaritaville lot and they have valet too. I definitely want to return and try their brick oven pizzas

Food is not good here. We hung out for a few hours upstairs watching the game. Bartender was attentive but the food is just overpriced and not good at all. Was hoping the shrimp and grits were tasty but it wasn't creamy and the red tomato sauce tasted like they just got it from a can. The combination didn't mesh well and I was very disappointed.

I may have had a worse dining experience, but I don't remember it. Our server appeared enthusiastic and eager to provide good service; however, this turned out not to be the case. I ordered a beer flight, made my selections only to find out they were not available. This happened multiple times. Our server appeared to have no knowledge of the beer and could tell us nothing. It took at least 30 minutes to get our drinks. Our meal finally arrived after approximately 45 minutes. I ordered a side salad which arrived in the middle of my entree only after I physically left our table to find the server to get the salad. The food was bland and the garlic bread was burned. Our server obviously never looked. I asked for fresh bread when I asked for the salad as well as hot sauce to give the food some flavor. Jimmy Buffet would have been horrified by our experience! We will not EVER be back.

    Cajun Queso, Chips and Salsa

Okay, so once again, I was buzzing. I was celebrating, and had gladly made a few dietary concessions for the weekend. This place caught my eye inside of the casino, so I had to take a stop in. Details are fuzzy. The vibe is pretty classy. The staff appears well trained and are conversational. The menu items are priced a little higher than one might expect or prefer, but the selections are complex. The only real downside to the menu is the over utilization of the word "cajun." And this is where I ran into my issue. The definition of this word is vague. As a Texan, I just equate it to spicy (likely wrongfully). Like I said earlier, I made some dietary concessions and decided to get the queso. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until it was too late that I was conceding to eating meat too - something I was not trying to knowingly do. Apparently, "cajun" means "tiny bits of ground up sausage." I was pretty disappointed. However, the salsa that came with it was great too. I enjoyed it. And my meal was quite good. The drink menu was extensive. I didnt intend to order a drink, as the drinks in the casino are free, but the Southern Gentleman had SoCo and Rye. I ordered it, ans enjoyed it. It was certainly mostly just liquor. I wasn't complaining. I really enjoyed the vibe most of all. There were a lot of graduates enjoying themselves, and that made me happy, as I was doing the same. If you are looking for a good bite to eat and a unique cocktail, check this place out. Despite the accelerated price, I felt it was quite worth it.

So, we ended up here--the only place open that wasn't serving up blackjack with a side of fries. First up: water. Now, if you've never had Louisiana tap water, let me tell you--it tastes like someone steeped a bag of potting soil in it for 12 hours. I was about to blame this restaurant until a little Google dive informed me that most of Louisiana water just tastes like this due to geosmin and MIB (algae bloom byproducts, apparently). Fun fact that nobody asked for, but here we are. Anyway, we pivoted HARD to cocktails. I ordered a Belvedere martini, which was well-made by Dustin but oddly expensive considering this wasn't exactly a swanky downtown hotspot. For dinner: Hubbs went for shrimp fettuccine, and while it was fine, it didn't exactly make us want to write home about it. I, on the other hand, ordered Natchitoches meat pies, thinking they'd be the real deal imported from the famous place there. Oh, how naive I was. Instead, they were sad little impostors, baked instead of fried, and just...meh. Final bill: almost $100 for four drinks and two average entrées. If we're dropping that kinda cash, I'd prefer a meal that didn't require an emergency cocktail switch just to recover from the water.

I attended with a local friend and he confirmed this is authentic. The experience: Friendly staff, a long restaurant with a bar section, followed by the condiments section, followed by a whole other bar somehow? I didn't poke my head back there but I found that intriguing. More on the condiments: They come with any sandwich. I probably took unfair advantage by taking enough lettuce, tomatoes, and onions to make an entire salad. I then asked for dressing, which they happily provided at no charge. And sandwiches? Do get. Delicious bread. The default bread appears to be the French - you could opt for their sourdough if you like - and it's not toasted. I love soft bread, and the po' boy was divine as a result. I loved the boudin. I loved that they have alligator sausage in multiple places on the menu. I loved everything about this place except the fact that summer means just about all of the beers were light, and I had to hunt and peck to find beers more my style. Which I did. And maybe those beers are lingering as I type this review. But BeauxJax gave me the warm, fuzzy, welcoming feeling I love in a restaurant. A great stop in Bossier. Worth a detour from Shreveport. Legitimate Cajun.
