This place is a breath of fresh air if you're in Shreveport/Bossier City. I was staying at Bally's, which is dark, gloomy, dirty, and depressing. I had to Uber to Margaritaville and Horseshoe just to eat due to no good restaurants open during the week at Bally's. When I showed up here, I found open space and cleanliness. I would say this spot is a decent place to have breakfast. I'd recommend the river view seating, though the view is pretty much two casinos on the other side of said river. It looks like the wait staff takes turns seating people. The lady who seated us barely said two words to us so not the most cheerful welcome. But to be fair it's also hard to tell behind a mask. Speed is not the nature of this restaurant as several tables around us had to ask multiple times where their food was or if there was a problem. Our food came out in about 12-13 mins so wasn't too bad for us. I try not to highlight the bad things about a place but after the curt welcome my wife's coffee cup came out with a big red blob of lipstick on the side of it so questions of cleanliness crossed my mind. The place is clean but when it's that obvious and nobody notices then it's clearly not a priority for folks. It was replaced with a coffee cup that had coffee marks seemingly from overflowing coffee during the transit. The mimosa came out and all was good, even a little heavy on alcohol. I ordered the NY strip steak and two poached eggs with an extra side of breakfast sausage patties. The side sausage at $4 is good size portion. The eggs were perfectly soft poached per my request. I put them over the slightly overcooked hash browns and let the yolks run over them for flavor. Hash browns could have used some seasoning but not terrible. The steak was cooked to my requested temp of medium rare, however all the seasoning happened after it was cooked so of course it tasted more on the salty side. This plate at $13 is one of the higher on menu and not bad. They don't have steak knives there so butter knife it was. My wife's pancakes and eggs were done to her liking. The pancakes a little better than I expected. Her plate was $11. I don't argue with any of the prices of plates we had. Server was polite and much friendlier than the lady who seated us so we certainly appreciated that. Like I mentioned before it's ok breakfast place and if you're staying at the casino it will get the job done. Probably have a solid 15 different types of breakfast and nothing really on the order of brunch except for the mimosas perhaps. read more

Not an impressive first time visit. Once seated it took 10 minutes for our server to even approach us. We ordered water & a beer menu. She returned, took my husbands order for his flight of beer and walked away before I could order a drink. The flight consists of 4 beers which he chose, when they arrived we were informed that they were out of 1 of them so the bartender gave us one of their choice ‍ not one my husband would have chosen. 1 of the glasses the beer was served in was chipped and cracked. This restaurant offers a nice view of the river. The meals take a while to prepare but everything is made fresh to order which makes the wait worth it. Our appetizers were the brisket cheese fries and the meatball. The brisket cheese fries were gooey, creamy goodness and the brisket added a smoky pop of flavor. The meatball is made of beef, veal, and pork. It's tender and juicy and has a nice marinara sauce with a side of bread. The club sandwich was nice and fresh, but nothing special. The cheeseburger was cooked to our liking and had great flavor. We ordered the strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was a freshly prepared shortcake biscuit with a touch of sugar, homemade whipped cream and strawberry compote. It was light, refreshing, and flavorful. We can't wait to go back and try more. Update: so we went back again last night and the wait was about 30 minutes because they were short staffed. Our waitress was good until they brought our dinner and then she basically forgot about us. To echo previous reviews, naming this as river view is a bit on the generous side. Yes, you can see the river through the window, But you are simply looking at the casino on the other side. Service was quick. I was promptly seated and the waitress came over quickly. Considering that I came on a Sunday during lunch time, I would have thought there would be more customers. Either the church goers had not come in yet, or the gamblers did not want to get off their machines, or this place is just not that good during the day. I'm not really sure. The cajun mac and cheese left something to be desired. It was very oily. The sausage and crawfish in it were good, and there was a lot of it. But the oiliness did not sit well with me. There were several televisions with the sportsballs playing on them. Upstairs seemed to be an adult game room with billiards. If I come back on my next trip to the area, I might try something else on the menu, or another restaurant. Who knows. read more

I think this bowl of pasta was one of the best I've ever had. It had more meat than pasta but I was not mad at it at all. It had pretty much a whole chicken breast, sausage, crawfish, artichoke heart, mushrooms, and tons of cheese. I also sampled my mom's barbecue salad and it was so good! They definitely don't skimp on the portion size. Other than the great food, the restaurant is pretty and clean. The service was great. The view of the Red River while you dine is great too. I may have had a worse dining experience, but I don't remember it. Our server appeared enthusiastic and eager to provide good service; however, this turned out not to be the case. I ordered a beer flight, made my selections only to find out they were not available. This happened multiple times. Our server appeared to have no knowledge of the beer and could tell us nothing. It took at least 30 minutes to get our drinks. Our meal finally arrived after approximately 45 minutes. I ordered a side salad which arrived in the middle of my entree only after I physically left our table to find the server to get the salad. The food was bland and the garlic bread was burned. Our server obviously never looked. I asked for fresh bread when I asked for the salad as well as hot sauce to give the food some flavor. Jimmy Buffet would have been horrified by our experience! Okay, so once again, I was buzzing. I was celebrating, and had gladly made a few dietary concessions for the weekend. This place caught my eye inside of the casino, so I had to take a stop in. Details are fuzzy. The vibe is pretty classy. The staff appears well trained and are conversational. The menu items are priced a little higher than one might expect or prefer, but the selections are complex. The only real downside to the menu is the over utilization of the word "cajun." And this is where I ran into my issue. The definition of this word is vague. As a Texan, I just equate it to spicy (likely wrongfully). Like I said earlier, I made some dietary concessions and decided to get the queso. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until it was too late that I was conceding to eating meat too - something I was not trying to knowingly do. Apparently, "cajun" means "tiny bits of ground up sausage." I was pretty disappointed. However, the salsa that came with it was great too. I enjoyed it. And my meal was quite good. The drink menu was extensive. I didnt intend to order a drink, as the drinks in the casino are free, but the Southern Gentleman had SoCo and Rye. I ordered it, ans enjoyed it. It was certainly mostly just liquor. I wasn't complaining. I really enjoyed the vibe most of all. There were a lot of graduates enjoying themselves, and that made me happy, as I was doing the same. One person in our party got the chicken Parmesan meal and the red sauce tasted like the off brand prego sauce you get at Walmart- watery and no flavor. What was upsetting from the start was the sole purpose I opted being that we saw several pictures and reviews of the "brisket cheese fries" only to immediately be told they were out of them... Wife got the prime rib sandwich was was a poor cut of meat , very bland. I tried the Cajun pizza, and while a bit more tasty the pizza was extremely soggy and difficult to eat with toppings sliding right off. She also tried the 7 am bloody Mary served with a rib , likely several days old and pulled directly from the fridge. This review is for breakfast. I did not try the daytime food nor did I try any of the beers available at this establishment. I want to start by stating that I wish I had caught my server's name. She was a wonderful person with a soft comforting voice such that you would seek someone like her out as safe harbor in times of peril. She possessed a kindness that you could feel emanating from her very being not unlike the warmth of a soothing heater in the dark of winter. I felt like a better person for merely being in her presence. (If management sees this and it helps you direct the proper accolades, I was there about nine o'clock on Saturday morning, August 13, 2022. ) I was seated next to the window with a lovely panoramic view of the river outside. The atmosphere was just great. As to the food, I ordered steak and eggs. I ordered my eggs scrambled. They looked and tasted like powdered eggs I would expect at an interstate gas station buffet. The steak tasted like Salt Bae had gotten a little aroused and finished early with an embarrassed whimper. I wasn't really able to cut through it with my provided steak knife. The hash browns were adequate, and the coffee was good. The above mentioned server was so kind as to pour me an extra cup to go when I was finished with my meal. Where once stood the famous "Margaritaville" now stands 'Riverview Restaurant & Brewery' and 'Bamboo cafe'. A little disappointed they had closed the original restaurant we decided to try RR&B since we had walked this far! The sever took our orders and brought the drinks and food as it came out so it wouldn't arrive cold to our places. All but one burger plate came out twice with cheese when he asked WITH OUT cheese. They corrected the issue by removing it off the bill but allowing him to enjoy his meal anyways. Nice move. Food was good but not outstanding. Food portions were good considering it was pricey. When we split the bill in two there was a misunderstanding. Manager was nice enough to square things out and we left happy. All in all, our experience was 'ok' because although some of us got drink refills, others did not. I would give this place a try if I happen to be by the casinos because we saw a delicious brownie that we did not get to try out! Bummer! If they didn't have that brownie dessert I probably wouldn't want to come back...hang in there, we'll be back! Lol. read more

My hubby said he guess they broke them up recooking them since they said they had to REFRIED Them. They were being petty at me for asking them to be warmed. So, we used all 5,s & picked them up & dip in our salsa and queso to eat. Forthy mins later, our food comes out and the fries were barely warm and the burgers were BURNT. We didn't notice it until we started eating it. I even tried not to complain about it but I couldn't consume it. I even tried pulling patty out to eat because we had been there since 3 am in the morning and that was our 1st meal since 7 pm Father's day. Steven from the ASIAN restaurant saw the burnt crusty meat and asked, do I want it remade. I said no but since my hubby had to be at work I took it for his lunch. Beautiful train wreck of a restaurant. Ambiance is great. Expect a wait, but not due to capacity. Lots of unseated tables in restaurant. Once seated, do not expect your food to arrive in order. Apps will not arrive before entrees. Silverware will not arrive before food. We ordered 3 entrees - fish & chips, prime rib philly and adult mac & cheese. Fish was decent. Philly was not prime rib and had bun similar to a stale bun from Walmart. Meat was unseasoned. Mac had a cheese sauce rather than real cheese. No stringy gooey mac and cheese. The taste was pleasant, but real cheese is better. Management is in a bind. All restaurants in the hotel USE THE SAME KITCHEN. This means wait staff has to travel long distances to get anything from the kitchen. The cooks are cooking for multiple restaurants. Managers do not make cooks cook one ticket at a time to get the same table's food out at once. For our 3 entrees, one came out at 7:31. One came out at 7:48. One came out at 8:07. The app came out with the first entree. This is a nice bar, but it is NOT some place to eat. If you want to escape the choking smoke of the casino, there are couches in front of the windows for waiting. You can sit and stare at people as they eat (and get angry at wait staff). Brick oven pizza has their oven right in the restaurant. That might be a better option if you have lots of patience and want to try this place.
