So sweet, so genuine, the kind of service you don't forget. The food came out and from the very first bite, it was clear this was a place that cooks with love. The eggs, the omelet, the French toast -- everything tasted like comfort. And then there was the millionaire bacon -- perfectly caramelized with brown sugar and just a touch of chili flakes. Sweet, smoky, with a gentle heat that teased your taste buds like heaven. Absolutely unforgettable. The portions were generous in the best way, and the prices were more than fair, especially for a breakfast that leaves you full and happy. But listen... the coffee. We got here around 10:30am on a Saturday. Took about 10 minutes for a waiter to be with us. Ordered coffee and water. Took another 10 minutes to get our drinks. Ordered our food at that time. We checked in at the 40 minute mark and come to find out that our food still wasn't ready. Apparently the waiter put the order in on the wrong name - so that had to be fixed. And then when it was fixed they had a large party in front of ours that needed to be prepared first before ours. Needless to say we have now been sitting in this restaurant for over an hour with a cup of coffee and no food. If you want a quick breakfast spot, this is not the place. I would not recommend coming here with children because I cannot imagine them waiting patiently for an hour for breakfast. I have yet to receive our food even after writing this long review. But any place where you have to wait this long to get some eggs and a pancake I cannot recommend. read more

Suoer cute! Clean historic feel. Love the historic pics of the area. Lexi took great care of us. Food is not fancy but it is super tasty and plentiful! I had the Cali omelet. Huge! Very shareable! I think there was a full chicken breast and entire avocado in it! Hubs had the breakfast burger. It look amazing and he said it was! Looked like a huge handmade patty. Their potatoes are awesome! It was walking distance from the hotel I stayed at. Food was very mid. Grits- I am not sure how they're supposed to taste like, but it had no taste. Great little find in the heart of downtown Shreveport on a rainy Sunday morning. The place was packed - even with the rain. Everything we ordered (see pictures) was excellent. Gouda Shrimp and Grits were phenomenal. Only reason I don't give a 5 is because it took a considerable amount of time for our order to arrive and our appetizer (egg rolls) were delivered after our entrees. Server was excellent - very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We will be back and we will tell everyone about the cafe. read more

I normally never leave negative reviews, but this was the worst service I've had in a very long time. We called to make reservations, and they told us that it wouldn't be necessary since they had lots of tables available. When we arrived, all the tables were filled, and they told us it would be a 20-minute wait. That 20 minutes turned into almost an hour of waiting. We finally got seated, only to wait an additional 35 minutes just to get our drinks. We put in our food order shortly after ordering our drinks, and we waited almost an hour and a half to receive it, only to have multiple incorrect items, as well as missing items. Tables around us that had been seated after us had already received their food and were checking out by this point. Very disappointed, we will not be coming back. read more

It is a cute little place, with exposed brick walls and the pressed tin panel ceiling, giving it an antique look inside. Along with that look comes bad acoustics, so it is very loud inside. This is something that can easily be overlooked. The downfall of this place is the speed of service. Two of us arrived shortly after 11 on a Saturday morning and the place was full. We were seated after a few minutes and were given our drinks. Then we sat there for 20+ minutes waiting for our order to be taken. Again, this could be somewhat overlooked because they were busy, but tables were starting to clear and becoming empty. Once our orders were taken, we had to wait 40+ minutes for our meals. By this time, over 1/2 the tables were empty, so they weren't that busy. When we did receive our orders, our meals were semi warm- not like they just came off the grill, making the food not that great, especially after having waited so long for it. Can only attest to breakfast items - biscuits & gravy, kids pancake meal, and bananas foster "French toast" (which was more like cinnamon toast with a few saucy bananas on top). Last sip of coffee was coffee grinds and the grind residue was all over the inside of the cup. A busy Saturday morning made for a slow and frazzled staff with basic service. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if I never went back but wouldn't be opposed to giving it another try either. read more

Glass Hat Café is flat-out pathetic. We had a group of five and the hostess told us "We have a 4 top... if you want it" like that was acceptable. Meanwhile there were easily five open tables around us. Two firemen were sitting at a large table and when they left, the staff just let it sit there dirty like they had all the time in the world. We waited over ten minutes. No one cleaned a table. No one offered help. Just excuse after excuse. This was not a busy restaurant. This was a lazy, clueless staff that didn't care enough to do the bare minimum. Then as we finally gave up and walked out, the hostess shouted "Sorry" across the restaurant. She is lucky I didn't yell F*** OFF back. That's how frustrating and ridiculous it was. If you're in Shreveport, avoid this place at all costs. Glass Hat Café is a complete waste of time and should not be in business. read more

Was very disappointed that it was not made clear that no lunch plates with vegetables available on weekends. In addition they did tell food was running late with a thirty minute late but they should have said an hour wait! Several tables left due to wait. Had been looking forward to the great foods seen on the FB page but very few of those foods even option. When asked was told, "oh that person who cooked those items quit."
