Still a 5 star review from me and this is based on my birthday dinner there last month and the catering they did for my parents' vow renewal last week. Their food is a little pricey but so worth it! My parents ordered trays for food to feed about 15. A tray of lomo saltado, that came with a tray of white rice and a separate tray of French fries, a tray of rotisserie chicken and a tray of arroz chaufa (fried rice with eggs). The food was scheduled to be here at 3PM and by 315 we were serving the food and it was so hot, it didn't even need to be warmed up. They also provided us with a container of the famous green sauce. Everyone was raving about the food! You have to be Peruvian to understand that we are very picky and if someone says they like it you know their food is good. Honestly the massive trays of food ended ho feeding about 25 and we still had leftovers. The owner catered to my parents needs and we are so thankful everything came out as planned. I stopped by here for a quick lunch after a doctor's appointment, and it was wonderful. I got their Bistec a lo pobre lunch special, and boy was it a lot of food. There was a small steak, eggs, fries, plantains, a small side salad and a drink. There were a few tables filled when I arrived, mostly smaller parties and a one other solo diner. It made me feel a bit relieved seeing there was another solo diner besides myself! From the time I sat down to when I got my food, it was about 15 minutes, so not too long. The service was quick and efficient, and none of the waiters/waitresses ever rushed anyone. I'm not usually in the area so I wasn't familiar with what's good in the area, but I'm happy I stopped by Riviera Maya for lunch. It was a pleasant surprise to a great afternoon. read more

Service and food always impeccable. I was craving seafood and opted for a whole fried fish that did not disappoint! The sides it came with was an avocado salad with tostones and it was an excellent combination. My boyfriend got the mole poblano with steak and he loved it! He is very picky when it comes to mole, and it's all he gets when he goes there so that says a lot! We always get a pitcher of sangria because it's delish! We have been wanting to come here for a little while now, always see it when im walking on steinway in the neighborhood. Its our Date Night so we decided on this place which has outdoor dining. Service was excellent & prompt, the food was really good and the drinks were tasty & strong just like i like my men lol. We ordered the beef saltado & the salmon and shared both. The beef was really good, the salmon was nothing special. But good For an appetizer we got the octopus which was a little gummy but tasty. We got the mango mojitos. The plates are big and you def get full Had some serious ittus afterwards. Our bill came out to about $100. Not too bad. From the outside looking in, we thought wow this place looks great. Let's try it! Music was good. We had asked for water and only one of us got a cup of water. I took a sip and i tasted something weird on my lips.. i thought it was some residue from my previous drink on my lips maybe. I took another sip and the same taste came back. There was lip marks on the rim of the cup when i put it against the light. It was somebody's lipgloss I was tasting. We told them the cup was dirty and no apologies nor care was given. Just another cup of water. We said it's okay. Let's not make a big deal, maybe the food is really good. We ordered the al pastor tacos and the chicken burrito. No taste. No flavor. The big pieces of fat made the tacos very unenjoyable. The chicken burrito tasted dry and old. As if they reused food. We didn't finish our food and asked to get the chicken burrito and fries to go. We got home and they only packed the burrito, no fries. Between the food tasting dry, old, and flavorless, and us not getting the bunch of fries we left, we definitely came to the conclusion that we will not recommend nor come back to this establishment. If they reuse food and reserve it to their customers, I hope someone realizes this and is able to make a change about it. read more

My second time having dinner here. The drinks are great (for the most part) and the food is simply scrumptious. Today we had the Roco Maya, enough food for two guys who like to eat. The bottom of the dish had salsa verde which was the cherry on top of this already flavorful meal. The first time we had ceviche mixto and the skirt steak with vegetables. All mouth watering. The short of it - nice people and place, good food, unadvertised credit card fee, and slow to get out. Almost a year later after trying to eat here, I'm eating here. The first time I and two other tables put in orders with apps but after 30 minutes (more?) of waiting for something we all left (told the host and they apologized). This time we were served right away by a friendly staff. The food arrived quickly and was delicious (quick bites of a burrito and a salad). No hot sauce, so ask. But it really took too long for them to pick up the check after the credit card was placed on the edge of the table. This place has great food. However the people serving have a bad and condescending attitude. They were so rude to us. We we told the waiter that he got the order wrong and he firmly said "NO YOU ORDERED THE CHICKEN, NOT THE STEAK". It happens every time we go and we go at least 2 times a week. My husband and I went here on a Saturday night, no reservation just stopped by around 8. We were seated right away but about an hour later the place was full. It is very humble and non pretentious, the decor is beautiful with half the place being Mexican themed and the other Peruvian. We started with the guacamole and chips, and then i got tacos al pastor while my husband got the lomo saltado. The guacamole was delicious and tasted very fresh, my only complaint is that we asked for it be spicy but it was only mild. The tacos were yummy and big in portion, the meat was well seasoned but if i could make one change it would be for the tortillas to be hand made!!! The lomo saltado was delicious, juicy, flavorful and served hot. Portions were big enough to take home leftovers. This is my second time ordering delivery. Food is delicious, best Hispanic food around. My low review is because of service and lack of professionalism. My delivery took an hour and a half and I am a few blocks away. First time I called they told me the food was on the way, second call that the food was there I expressed my frustration and never got a apology no empathy whatsoever, got transfer to another person for me to explain the situation again ... there are many small business trying to stay afloat that deserve chances. Those employees should be more grateful that they have a job and treat customers with more respect apparently the pandemic didn't teach a lesson to many. read more

I ordered a Lomo Saltado and a henny colada (don't recommend), the passionfruit house margarita slaps though. My friend ordered a chicken taco but got some rotisserie chicken instead, just make sure they understand what you're ordering!!!!!! The lomo saltado was pretty good! I got exactly what I ordered, it was $25 but it was defff worth it. The flavor was there guys you have to try it! My only suggestion would be to order it with extra sauce because it was lacking enough to cover the amount of rice given. Overall, I would come back again. Riviera Maya is like no other in Astoria. Authentic Mexican-Peruvian cuisine. I came with the love of my life and we had the ceviche mixto and the Calamari both were amazingly delicious. We also had Guava and passion fruit margaritas which are refreshingly good. To end the night we had sangrias which are to die for.
