Riviera Maya is one of the more popular Mexican restaurants near my home. Their food and service is always consistent, it never fluctuates. So when I go, I know my experience will be top notch. It was Taco Tuesday and I was actually craving a taco. Normally when dining at Riviera and wanting tacos, I order their shrimp. This Tuesday, I changed things up and ordered, shredded chicken. It was simply made in a soft tortilla shell with only shredded lettuce and cheese. The chicken was tender, juicy and seasoned well. I topped the tacos with some of the salsa that was served with the complimentary chips. They really hit the spot on this Taco Tuesday. The tacos are served 3 to an order with a side of Mexican Rice. I added a side of Refried Beans to my order. I don't eat my beans and rice separately, I mix the two together creating a totally different texture and taste. I even mix in some salsa to give it an extra kick. I learned the trick of mixing the two from another diner at another Mexican restaurant. I saw her doing it and once I tried it myself, I've never stopped. You can't have tacos without a Margarita and the Top Shelf Mags here are very refreshing. I don't do salt on my rim, but you can if you want. Their glasses are thick glassed, so they are heavy. Lifting them is like a gym workout, so you're burning calories as you're drinking them. Service is always friendly and attentive. Even as a lone diner, they always check back with me to make sure everything is okay. With this heat wave we're having, I dined on the inside, but their patio is pretty relaxing. read more

Our service was great and everything came out hot and quickly! The chips and salsa are free and freshly made. We ordered the Adobo Pork Tacos but they accidentally gave us the Tacos with steak, bacon, and chorizo. We thought it was good but not really what we ordered and realized once we got the check. The enchiladas were good but not massively flavorful. A nice spot for some quality Mexican food! read more

Delicious Mexican dinner! Chips and salsa were great. Chicken with queso topping was so good. Ground beef tacos, rice and beans were so good my husband almost licked his plate. The service was good. We used to go to this restaurant all the time. We love the food. The tacos are great and the salsa is one of our favorite salsas. Unfortunately the last few times we've went, the service has been underwhelming. No drink refills, orders slightly wrong, can never find the server for drinks/boxes/check, etc. Would love to continuing going and eating their delicious food but will probably not be returning soon. read more

As I've stated in previous posts, I'm very big on food portion consistency. I'm also a creature of habit so I typically order the same thing every time I go. I ordered chicken fajitas if at this restaurant for the second time ever. The first time I had chicken fajitas from this place was about a month ago, and they had great portion size and the food tasted delicious. I went back again today and this time I was a little less than satisfied. Quite disappointed in fact. The portions were a lot smaller than they were initially and the food wasn't as good. Part of the reason I stopped going to the previous Mexican restaurant was due to the change in portion size over the time that I'd gone there. Went in while in town for business, a solid little place. I was impressed with the tidy-ness and decor--maybe a newer restaurant? Food was good, I had the Pollo Parilla, which was tasty and fresh. Wanted flan for dessert but apparently they do not carry it--bummer. Would definitely go back if I was in town and wanted Mexican food. read more

It's local reliable generic Mexican food, which isn't a bad thing. The food is decent and the beer is cold. The service is extremely fast, so if you're wanting to enjoy a drink or two, and snack on the chips, wait to order your food. The cheese dip is good. The guacamole is worth passing up. read more

A takeout order with a specific pick up time should be fresh and hot, right? Not the case. I make a takeout order with a specific pick up time, leaving time to prepare if they were busy. It was a 4PM pickup so should not have been that complicated. Was not busy as there was only one couple in the restaurant. The food was prepared, left out on a table. You'll have a great time here. Riviera Maya is a type of place where you can enjoy a fantastic meal with others who are happy, fun, and like to enjoy some great food. The waitstaff and owner do a great job in making you feel welcome and appreciated, and I think that sets the tone for your whole experience! The food was very good- my wife had the Hawaiian burrito, a first for her. Our server told us that you can't go wrong with that choice- and he was right! It was excellent- great flavor. I forget exactly what I had but it was chicken & mushrooms covered in a cheese sauce w/ corn tortillas & rice and beans. It was so good!! The Manager Jose greeted me right away. Great atmosphere, family run place. Owner was his brother and recipes were from his mother. Who was sitting in the booth by the door. Place was packed. Tells you a lot when traveling to see a packed house. I would highly recommend you visit often if you are a local. The prices were great and the service was genuine! read more
