Our server was very nice! The restaurant was clean. We received our food in a timely manner and everything was really good. Would certainly recommend this spot.

I had never been here before our visit on 4/18. It was a very fun environment and perfect for a Friday night. The food was awesome. I had the Pollo Jalisco and it was so good! The chips and salsa were also tasty! The service was kind, but I'm pretty sure the server upsold me on a bigger margarita without mentioning the price. It wasn't a big deal, but just something to watch out for. Other than that, he was nice, prompt, checked on us the perfect amount of times, and made the experience fun. Seriously, don't let my 4 stars sway you from giving Mr Pancho's a chance!

Went here for a friend's bridal shower. First time here. The service was good. The food was okay at best. The margarita was good. I tried their enchiladas with rice. They have outside seating and ample inside seating. Parking lot is huge as it's linked with a shopping center. Chips n salsa were good. Did not get much time to photo menus. We were on a schedule.

Mr. Pancho's is still a solid 4 Star experience. If Yelp would give me that half star, I'd give one to Mr. Pancho. It's 4 and above, but not quite 5 stars. It's getting close, but just not yet. I am a fan of their chips and salsa. The chips have always been warm and fresh when delivered to my table. The salsa has just enough spice and fire to satisfy everyones tastebuds. The salsa almost has a consistency of a marinara sauce. It's not runny thin and not overly thick and chunky. It's perfect for dipping the warm chips. My new favorite entree is, Shrimp Quesadilla. Oh, my! I love how they pack it full with grilled shrimp and peppers, onions and tomatoes. It's served with sour cream and guacamole on the side. I do smear a little sour cream on my bites of the quesadilla, but the guac I save for my leftover chips. Their regular lime Margaritas are strong enough, so there is no need to order a Top Shelf. I order a jumbo size and it is big enough to last me through munching on chips and eating my entree. The service is consistently friendly and attentive. I was seated in the bar area, so both bartenders were working as a team, providing service to the tables in their area. Mr. Pancho's is one of the better Mexican restaurants in the Alton area, so I recommend you give it a try.

    Chicken fajita chimichanga

I've had Mr. Pancho's a few times and I want to love them but sometimes it's hit or miss. Their chips are good and substantial but I'm not a fan of their salsa, it's too tomato-forward for my tastes. Instead I get the cheese dip which is sooo tasty. Their pico de gallo is also delicious. I love chimichangas, so that's what I usually get, and I rotate between shrimp or chicken. The shrimp is the clear winner--it's super flavorful and full of veggies. I got the chicken fajita chimi tonight and was underwhelmed. It didn't have a lot of flavor and I kept finding these odd stringy pieces in it (almost like corn silk). I wish I had gotten their quesabirria instead. It's pretty good, and of the two places that serve it in the area (that I'm aware), it's superior. The consommé is really flavorful and it's packed with cheese. We also got the dessert chimichanga for fun and it was delicious! That's definitely a winner and we'll be back for that for sure. The service is usually pretty good, especially considering they're always busy. And sometimes they have a mariachi band playing live which is a fun treat. This definitely has a solid spot on my list of local Mexican restaurants to go.

I have heard amazing things about this restaurant and while visiting family thought I would visit to try the food since I heard so many accolades about it. First- 5 stars for ambiance and the outdoor seating area! Love love love the outside seating and the feel of it all! We did order-pickup. What brought the rating down to 2 stars?!?!? 2 things: I was put off with the waitress giving me an open margarita (no lid) to take to-go. I asked "don't you have to seal this since we are taking it to go?" She said "you can do what you want with it" and winked at me. I felt very VERY uncomfortable with this, and we asked for a lid and a plastic bag to wrap the cup in, and we placed the cup in the trunk just in case we got stopped for any reason on the way home. I feel like this practice truly borders illegal, but I am not an IL resident, so I am not fully sure how this works. However, I find it strange that a restaurant that offers to-go alcohol does not have some safe container method to provide to customers. In addition, I was charged for a 32oz margarita- the margarita was 16oz at best. The other reason for the 2-star rating....to be honest the food is not that great. I don't know if the raving about the food is due to a lack of variety in this area, so this place is the best of what is offered? I don't know. It was not the worst, but by far, not the best. And watch out, because they add a takeout charge to your receipt (without telling you)...which kind of blew my mind since I am sure takeout is overall cheaper for the restaurant than eat in due to no dirty dishes etc. Disappointed.

This is probably my new favorite Mexican restaurant in the area! The inside is very stereotypical Mexican restaurant. They do have a couple of tables outdoors if you're into that. What I ordered: the margs are a great deal here! My bf got the jumbo (for $8 I believe) and it was huge. To eat we split the seafood mocajete. It was enough food for both of us to fill up on. The salsa was not my favorite, hence the 4/5 stars. It was not the most flavorful. Everything else was stellar, but the salsa is the star of the show (to me) at Mexican restaurants. I was pretty impressed by the freshness of the veggies in the mocajete. I'm sure I will be back sometime soon!

Usually great food but the service sucks today. I really hate when people who come in after you get served first. It ruins my experience. Meh Food finally came. Cold and obviously been sitting in the back. Terrible experience

The wings are surprisingly delicious with a hot flair. The ranch dressing is dangerously addictive. I had a chimichanga with steak. I will definitely make this drive to arrive and feast again soon. The music is excellent and so are the shots.

So when I go, I know my experience will be top notch. It was Taco Tuesday and I was actually craving a taco. Normally when dining at Riviera and wanting tacos, I order their shrimp. This Tuesday, I changed things up and ordered, shredded chicken. It was simply made in a soft tortilla shell with only shredded lettuce and cheese. The chicken was tender, juicy and seasoned well. I topped the tacos with some of the salsa that was served with the complimentary chips. They really hit the spot on this Taco Tuesday. The tacos are served 3 to an order with a side of Mexican Rice. I added a side of Refried Beans to my order. I don't eat my beans and rice separately, I mix the two together creating a totally different texture and taste. I even mix in some salsa to give it an extra kick. I learned the trick of mixing the two from another diner at another Mexican restaurant. I saw her doing it and once I tried it myself, I've never stopped. You can't have tacos without a Margarita and the Top Shelf Mags here are very refreshing. I don't do salt on my rim, but you can if you want. Their glasses are thick glassed, so they are heavy. Lifting them is like a gym workout, so you're burning calories as you're drinking them. Service is always friendly and attentive. Even as a lone diner, they always check back with me to make sure everything is okay. With this heat wave we're having, I dined on the inside, but their patio is pretty relaxing.

Because, when I do come, I enjoy my experience. The other day I stopped in for lunch and in the foyer, they had a board with weekly specials. One of the specials was, Shrimp Chimichanga. That made my decision real easy. Shrimp Tacos and Quesadillas are my favorite Mexican foods, so why not try a Chimichanga. It came with Refried Beans and Rice. It also has small servings of Guacamole and Sour Cream. The shrimp inside my Chimichanga were good sized and if memory serves me right, there were 8 stuffed inside. If not 8, it was 6 and it filled it to the brim. I love it when an entree has Guacamole, that way you can use it with your chips as you enjoy your entree. It also allows me to order good ole White Cheese Dip at the beginning, to enjoy with the complimentary Chips and Salsa. When I was served mine, the chips were still warm. Nothing beats a fresh warm chip dipped in salsa and white cheese. Dining alone makes it acceptable to double dip mixing the two together. A Margarita was my adult beverage of choice. I enjoyed a Jumbo sized and it lasted me through my appetizer and entree. To my delight, it was served to me in a frosted Margarita glass. I was frosted better than some beer mugs I have had. My server was friendly and attentive. In addition to waiting on tables, he was busy wrapping silverware and his multi-tasking did not take away from quality service. I plan to keep Taqueria Maya in my rotation of Mexican restaurants. It's worth the drive and worth passing by some of their competitors, to enjoy their quality of food.

I have a few near my home in IL, but they're basically the same and I wanted something new this Tuesday. I arrived a little after 8PM. When my server came to the table I immediately ordered a house Margarita. While my server was retrieving my drink, another brought me a basket of chips and salsa. The chips were crisp and warm and the salsa was a typical salsa, but it had a little more pepper taste to it. For an appetizer, I tried their, Choriqueso. It was served in a cast iron skillet and the cheese was almost scorched and there really wasn't that much flavor. Next time I'll just get good ole white cheese dip or guacamole. I did enjoy a hard shell beef taco, since it was Taco Tuesday and it was fairly decent. The beef was seasoned well and the toppings completed a good experience. My main entree was a Chicken Fajita Quesadilla. It was very good. However, I do not understand why none of the Mexican restaurants on this side of the river, slice the quesadillas into sections. They've all served them in one big piece. The side of rice that accompanied my quesadilla, was some of the most flavorful that I have enjoyed on the IL side. One of the highlights of going to any Mexican restaurant is always, the Margarita. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. I had two and both of them were very weak. My first one was a medium size with no salt. When I ordered a small for my second drink, I would have thought the server would have remembered, no salt. He did not and they were not that busy. Service was friendly, even if he forgot my "no salt" request. They also, did a steady and good job cleaning between diners. Being seated near the cashier stand, I was impressed with the number of carry-out orders they were processing and that guest came in wearing mask. I'll give them another try. I heard you have to try the, Joe Morales Tacos, which are Fried Tacos similar to those you get at Jack-n- The Box. I also, want to give their burritos a try. When: August 31, 2021 Why: Taco Tuesday
