Enchiladas de Pollo Con Crema Agria

Man, I wanted to like this place so bad because it came highly recommended. There were some highlights, but I would say the overall consensus is this was a big disappointment. First off, this is very pricey. It's important to be aware that some of these dishes are $40 and up. Second, I immediately had some cleanliness concerns because the lamp shade over our table was covered with food splatters. When we arrived we were promptly seated....in a soaking wet booth. I'm in Dallas traveling, came here on my last day, and already checked out of my hotel. Pretty disappointing to sit in a giant puddle of water that soaked through my pants when I didn't have anywhere to change or easy access to change. Things happen so I just went with it. Our waitress came over promptly, we ordered drinks and appetizers, and she was prompt the whole service. She was also very friendly. We first got the chips and salsa. They were actually great. Salsa has a strong cumin flavor, which I found unique. We also got the shrimp cocktail. When the shrimp cocktail was dropped off at our table, there was a hair on the serving plate the cocktail was brought out on. We wiped it off since it wasn't anywhere near the food and decided to overlook this detail. I wish we hadn't. The shrimp cocktail was utterly great, though. Very unique with great spice. Then we got our entrees. The fajitas were mid at best. The quality of the steak was poor. It was very fibrous and hard to chew. The beans did not have a very good flavor. The rice was pretty but definitely not the taste I would want for a plate of Mexican food. The enchiladas were decent but the sauce lacked flavor. I ate one enchilada and then saw a big wad of black hair under the other 2. I was so disgusted I started gagging. That was the second dish we had hair on. The waitress was so nice about it and brought me a new plate of food. I kind of lost my appetite at this time since we had two plates come with hair, but I felt obligated to eat a little more since she brought me a fresh plate of food. After a few moments, a woman came to our table, did not introduce herself, but I presume she was the manager. She apologized for the hair and offered us a discount. I thought that was nice, but I noticed right away that her long black hair was falling all over our table. It became pretty evident who's hair was getting everywhere. She walked away and left our eating area with yet another wad of hair lying around. I spent years working in the restaurant industry, and I would never leave my hair down like she did. She did, though, and her hair was getting everywhere ruining our entire experience. Our "discount" was $3. $3 was all they were willing to comp for their complete lack of health and safety standards. I'm appalled and disgusted at the whole experience for the overpriced and mediocre meal we had. For the wet pants. For the dirty area and hair everywhere. I would never recommend this place and am surprised people actually told me to come here. I ate at so many great places while in Dallas and this was the only disappointment. If I could give this place zero stars I would.

Service was good, and the portions were generous. Usually, I feel that fajita plates are half bell peppers, but this one had a really good portion of protein. Also, the margarita was served decently strong. I do feel like it was a little overpriced though, as I went alone and just got one margarita and fajitas and paid $50. But I don't know Dallas as well, so maybe this is normal. I really like their outdoor dining area.

I think this place is only popular due to the location. I felt like the food was average. It seemed more Tex-Mex more than Mexican food.

Great food and great service!! We went to get lunch on the weekend without a reservation and were sat immediately. I'm vegetarian and my boyfriend eats a lot of meat, and there were many options for both of us. I LOVED the veggie enchiladas I got and the salsa was so good.

We came here for dinner on Christmas Day, not expecting many places to be open, we were so pleased to see that RJ was. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays inside , it was very cute! We ordered queso with chips and salsa as well. Both tasted delicious. We were served very quickly despite how crowded it was, and there were so many vegetarian options to pick from, making it a bit difficult for me! I was so happy to see that. I ordered the veggie chimichangas, they were seasoned well. Everything we ordered tasted fabulous, I was full and satisfied with food leftover to eat later.

Went there for any early dinner with our daughter and two grandsons. Our server, Ana, was great! She helped my daughter what to get her sons for dinner, and she was totally helpful. We never had to ask for anything. We even spoke with the manager, to tell her how much we enjoyed our visit there, as well as what a great server Ana is. Oh, by the way, the food was delicious! Ask for Ana, you will not be disappointed in the service she gives you. The restaurant is very enjoyable inside with the lighting and decorations. We plan to come back occasionally, since we only live in Mesquite.

All parts of this restaurant was wonderful. The customer service was top tier. This was my first time along with friends and definitely will not be the last. Our food was amazing. The meal was fresh and very flavorful. We live two hours away and would drive back to dinner for an evening out. The ambiance was nice. There's seating outside and inside. A win win!

I went to this rest to eat and the guy at the desk refused my service animal. I tried to explain the American with Disabilities Act (the LAW) allowed me and my service dog to enter. He still refused. a lawsuit will be filed as soon as I can find a lawyer and I'll end up owning this place and firing this 1dioT. The ADA law states in summary: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires restaurants to allow people with disabilities to bring their service animals into all public areas, including dining areas. Service animals are dogs that are trained to perform specific tasks related to a person's disability and do not need professional training or certification to be recognized. Restaurants cannot refuse entry based on fears, allergies, or health concerns, though they can ask two specific questions and may ask to remove a dog if it is out of control or not housebroken. What the ADA requires: Access to all public areas: Service animals must be allowed in any area of the restaurant where customers are normally permitted, such as the dining room and waiting areas. No discrimination: Restaurants cannot deny entry or charge extra fees for service animals. Only two allowed questions: A restaurant can only ask if the animal is a service animal required because of a disability and what task the dog performs. No proof of certification: Businesses cannot ask for proof of training or certification for the service animal. What restaurants cannot do: Prohibit service animals: Restaurants cannot have "no pets" policies that apply to service animals. Ask for information about the disability: They are not allowed to ask about a person's disability. Demand proof of certification: They cannot require documentation that the dog is a service animal. Segregate individuals with service animals: They cannot separate individuals with service animals from other customers.

First time visit and I enjoyed my visit. The decor is kind of vintage meets modern but trendy. Our server was nice but average. Our food was delicious. I really enjoyed the fajitas and everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The sangria was fruitful and tasty. I did think the Mexican candy shots were overpriced and that is the reason for 3 stars. $27 for two shots seems a bit much especially when other places offer the same for a lot less. Overall I would return for the food and stick to either a menu drink or not drink at all.

Since the weather has been so nice lately, outdoor seating is super popular, so I'd recommend making a reservation if you can. The location is super cute and always packed. You definitely need a reservation or have to go super early to get a spot. There is valet parking as well as street parking, which can get a bit crowded. I've had a ton of different food items the years, but their fajitas are their signature dish for a reason! It comes out sizzling, fresh, and delicious. Do not pass up on the bone marrow sauce, it transforms the dish to beyond a 10/10! The salsas are always good and then tortilla chips salty and fresh. I start with a skinny margarita w a salt rim, which was good. Our waiter, Abraham, was great! He was very attentive and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We also order the ceviche to start, which was yummy! The crackers were a bit of an odd pairing for me and I stuck with tortilla chips, but overall delicious!! My friend ordered the steak quesadilla and thought it was tasty too.

Here in Texas, chips and salsa are such a commonplace experience it's off-putting to pay for them. We ordered the guacamole and the chips and salsa come with it, so that was, I guess, better...but the guacamole was $16, so there's that. The salsa was tasty as was the guacamole, but again, for the portion it's really not worth it. We had the queso flameado, which was yummy and the flour tortillas are good! We split the sirloin and were underwhelmed. For a grilled meats place the steak was very under seasoned and wasn't giving us fresh hot grilled vibes. Meh at best, as were the rice and beans. We ordered elote as a side and it was really the best thing we ate. Service was friendly and efficient! Cocktails average $16ish. Again, for the prices we expected better.

Chris our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time walking us through the menu and explaining what made El Carlos Elegante so special. The drinks were perfect. My wife loved her Desert Flor while I thoroughly enjoyed my Modelo Micheleda. Her Surf and Turf one hitter was exceptional. I have to say my Crab Cake was just ok. It tasted a little pasty and very heavy on the bread. The Pulpo was absolutely amazing. Perfect texture and the sauce it was served almost had me licking the plate. The El Machete was incredible from its presentation, to the freshness of the corn tortilla, to the quality of the meat inside. Definitely recommend this. We really liked our Okra + Shishito course, we just wished it had more okra in it. The two things I loved about the Al Pastor was of course the sauce it was served on but the fact that I got to enjoy it like a steak. It was served sliced on a bias like flank steak. Typically Al Pastor is finely chopped and served in tacos and burritos, so this was a different eating experience for me. And of course it was delicious as well. We cannot wait to come back and try more of the menu.

That visit checked every box -- the food, service, ambiance, and overall hospitality were all exceptional. What really stood out to me then was the attention to detail. I had casually mentioned that one of my cocktails wasn't quite my taste, and Harry personally reached out afterward to say they'd gladly adjust it next time. That kind of thoughtful follow-up leaves a lasting impression and is exactly the sort of hospitality that elevates a restaurant experience. Unfortunately, this recent visit felt like a completely different restaurant. We decided to do a combination of à la carte dishes along with the Experience menu after being told this version would feature entirely off-menu items, which genuinely intrigued us since Ihad also done the Experience previously. At the start of dinner, we were asked about allergies and dietary restrictions. I clearly explained that I have a mango allergy and do not eat beef. Our server then asked whether I ate other meats, and I clarified yes -- and even specifically mentioned that if the machete dish was beef, please still include it because my friend could enjoy it and I really wanted her to try it. He confirmed it would be the sirloin version, so we happily agreed not to modify that course. So imagine our surprise when one of the first dishes arrived dressed with a mango vinaigrette. Thankfully, we barely caught him quietly mentioning "mango" as he set it down. We immediately looked at each other thinking, "Didn't we just discuss the allergy?" It was disappointing, but unfortunately also representative of the overall service throughout the evening. Our server seemed disengaged, inattentive, and often not fully listening. Empty glasses sat untouched, opportunities to order additional items were missed, and at one point we were simply handed the check without even being asked if we wanted anything else. We also ordered a bottle of sparkling wine and ended up pouring it ourselves for most of the evening because our glasses were rarely refilled. I completely understand not leaving the bottle tableside if walkway space is limited, but repeatedly needing to get up ourselves to retrieve it felt out of sync with the level of service one expects from a Michelin-recommended restaurant -- especially at this price point. Then came the machete dish. Instead of the sirloin version we specifically discussed, we received the vegetarian potato version. When the server asked how it looked, I politely explained that we were disappointed because he had specifically told us it would be the sirloin preparation. At minimum, I would have expected another protein substitution given the earlier conversation about what I could eat. I'm also still unclear whether the Experience menu was truly "off-menu" as described, since several dishes -- including the halibut -- appeared familiar. Had that been communicated differently, we likely would have skipped the Experience altogether and simply curated our own meal. At the end of the night, spending over $500 while pouring our own wine, nearly being served an allergen we explicitly disclosed, and receiving dishes different from what was promised made for a deeply disappointing experience -- especially after such a phenomenal first visit. It honestly felt sad more than anything because I know how wonderful this restaurant can be. I'm not sure what changed in the last five months, but the difference was significant.
