Generous thick cut of chopped steak - seasoned- breaded and fried a golden brown, topped with white gravy- absolutely delicious! The mashed potatoes had a delicious buttery flavor. I would almost make a 5 star but the Shrimp PoBoy is just a hard one to get a full blessing on with me. I am so biased to the fresh shrimp and large servings in NOLA. The shrimp was pretty good and the bread was excellent. The serving was just much smaller than expected for a "hoagie" style roll and the shrimp was a little sharp tasting. As I sit and type this we still haven't received our drinks (only waters) Two of us ordered steaks and the server didn't ask how we wanted our steak cooked. Worst customer service every time. Even when they are not busy the service is unacceptable. We waited 5 minutes to be set with multiple open tables. Waited another 15 minutes and didn't have even our drink order taken while other tables were serviced that were seated after we arrived. My husband and I both got the 14 ounce ribeye, although it definitely was high quality meat I do think that the steak lacked flavor and could have been better seared. It was a good steak, but it was not memorable... This could be addressed by having a better rub. My mashed potatoes was good, and my husband's mac & cheese was really good. Usually mac & cheese taste "cheap" to me but this was more of like a creamy bowtie cheesy pasta and it was pretty good! The salad was fresh, I'm not a big salad person but I did enjoy this one. I would go back to try some of the other plates they have a nice size menu and I wonder what the other plates are like. Our waiter was a bit rusty (I think since everything has been going on with covid-19.) our food was amazing!! We had two starters...stuffed jalapeños (wasn't a fan of the red jalapeño it taste too much like a bell pepper but still good) and calamari. Our kids even ate the calamari! My husband and I went there for our second time the last week of March. We both really enjoyed ourselves and he loved what he got. He got the chicken fried steak with the sautéed squash and I got the chicken tenders with a baked sweet potato . He loved his chicken fried steak and said he would give it a five. He said there wasn't too much breading on it and it definitely was not overcooked. He said he would give his squash a four and would order it again. I really enjoyed my sweet potato, but was not too thrilled about the chicken tenders. I don't eat those very often and there is one place that I get them where I really enjoy their's, but they just didn't taste too savory to me. We also got the stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and we thoroughly enjoyed those. We would give those a four and would order those again. We have a restaurant that we used to go to and they had the most delectable stuffed mushrooms we've ever tasted and so it's hard when you've had that comparison, however, Roadhouse's were good. They also make their own dressings and we are impressed with that. I like when a restaurant makes their own dressings and we rarely find one that makes their own Thousand Island, my husband's favorite, but they do. My favorite is homemade ranch and they make that as well. Also, my husband had their macaroni and cheese and he said it was INCREDIBLE! He would definitely give that a five! We will definitely go there again when we're traveling that way and want something good to eat. Service and food quality is declining. 5 people and a $170 bill with only 1 alcoholic beverage. Spinach dip was lukewarm and way too thick, with the chips breaking when trying to scoop the dip. Waitress offered to stir and microwave instead of letting line cooks know they sent out a subpar dish. Waitress dropped off the bottle of beer, no glass to drink it from. Entrees arrived, salad and entree plates not cleared. Our group had issues with most dishes, mine was the Roadhouse Stroganoff, which came with 4 thin slices of beef, the pasta used was a bowtie pasta (typically stroganoff uses egg noodles), the sauce was supposed to be creamy and wine based, but there clearly had never been any cream involved in making the sauce nor were any mushrooms evident. This place used to be great, great food, solid quality, trained and attentive staff. Seems to be running on fumes and past success rather than consistent intentional focus on customer experience. Focus hard on training the entire front and back of house. If you are going to charge $23 for my Roadhouse Stroganoff or elevated prices for any of these items, then I'd expect the service and execution to elevated as well. read more

So, I have been here many times before. Usually for Christmas party. I have had really good experiences with the back portion of this establishment. Down home, good food live entertainment etc. HOWEVER the front part, the so called "Steak House" I just couldn't let go this time (after several visits). We reserved a table for ~ 18. When we got there, they split us up into two different tables. Six of us were seated right in front of the front door. Every time he door opened, yup, we got a blast of fridge air, So some of us put our coats on. Sat there a good 15 minutes and were not acknowledged in any way. Seemed that no servers wanted the table. No management in sight. We talked about leaving but we were there with lots of friends (which we never got to talk with or see). Appetizers; Dip, Horrible, cold. Crab Cakes ($21) mushy, maybe cat food! On treys; Having been here before, we agreed that we were not going to go "all out" steaks etc. as over the years our group has come in for our Christmas Dinner and its been hit and miss, mostly miss. (I know, I know, why return. Another story). Let me just summarize. Even the simplest sides are cheap and low quality. And here is the kicker, be aware, if the dish says "with one/two sides" the best I could figure out that "you must choose from a select list from the menu" or get charged extra for the $3 a side! We both ask for simple house salads for the "side" and we got charged and extra $6 for a cheap side salad! I had salmon ($20) and (I believe) what the topping placed on it (I think, scorched cranberry sauce something, which I scraped off) came out on a skimpy bed of rice on 1/2 of the plate and the other half left completely with nothing! No garnish, no nothing. This place is more like an over priced Luby's! Its evident that the folks who own the friendly good food place in the back, know that type business well, but have "no idea" about a what it tales to operate a "Steak House". I ordered the sirloin for my birthday. I was so disappointed in steak. As it turned out the owner changed vendors in supplying the steaks and took out the wood grill. With the increase in cost of food, I expect to have a tasty steak. The owner needs to go back to the old vender and put back in the wood grill. Two dinners here over the last 2 months while in town for concerts. The food is a solid four stars, service is more like three, just because it is inconsistent from one server to the next or one day to the next. The first visit, we had nice wines by the glass, and a dozen raw oysters which were tasty and well presented. Now that oysters are $24 per dozen, they should always be served nicely, and with all the accompaniments! That night I had a filet, and hubby had a very flavorful sirloin. On our second visit, we both started with side salads, which had flavorful tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, red onion rings, and homemade croutons on a bed of mixed greens. I had the sirloin, cooked exactly to the right temperature, and hubby went for chicken fried chicken and sweet potato fries. I had a beer with dinner, Tank seven which I love, and hubby went for a piece of red velvet cake at the finish. All the food was excellent. Where the inconsistency lies is in service. I remember it from the first visit, but the second visit was even a better example. Our waitress was very pleasant, and very attentive at first, almost to the point of rushing us a bot to order, even though it was early in the night. We ordered, got our food, she checked back once after, and she dropped the check pretty quickly thereafter without checking for additional drinks or offering dessert. We had to flag her down to ask for those things, get her to pick up the check again, and then could not find her when we were ready for the check. The only real peeve I had was hearing the table next to us be told the specials for the evening (we were not) and being offered warm bread and butter, which we were not offered or brought. A little more attention by management to these type of inconsistencies would net them happier customers and probably higher tabs. That said, for a small town this is a pretty nice dining experience.
