I can't say enough good things about this place. I wish they were close to home! Food was so fresh and cooked perfectly, the cheese dip was spicy but cheesy, staff was super friendly and fast. We stopped and ate in on a family road trip back to Houston. The food and service were excellent. I had the famed Jalapeño Cream Cheese Burger and it was just as delicious as the great reviews on here stated. My husband had the Western BBQ burger and our daughter had the avocado pepper jack grilled chicken sandwich. They each rated theirs 10 out of 10! Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Husband asked for Mustard for his and server said she would bring it out. Our bowl of chili came out together with our meal, maybe the servers weren't train right appetizer suppose to come out first. My burger was well done, my husbands fries was limp and undone. My sweet potato fries is also under done. I cut my burger to see if its medium but no it is well done. Asked, the server to return it. She apologized and showed us in her tablet that she did put medium. I simply asked her if I could get a new one in. Two minutes later my burger came back. It is still well done. Sweet potato fries is greasy and under done. I told our server Alyssa about it and she reason with I told them in the back that they are not the one facing the customers y'all need to make it right. First, customers don't care about the drama between kitchen staff and front of the house staff. I appreciate her apology it wasn't her fault. Secondly, my husband had to go get mustard in a different table cause she had forgotten about it. Thirdly, clearly something is wrong so get the manager in the business of knowing it. Both my husband and I think that the burger patty is definitely thinner than what we are used to maybe because it was a hockey puck but definitely not the same. What a fabulous place!! This place has tons of energy with very friendly guests and staff. Burgers are the speciality. I had the Jalapeño cream cheese burger in a Jalapeno bun and shared a Chiki burger. The Jalapeño burger had a slab of cream cheese which melts in your mouth. Probably the worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had. (To the owner, it's Sunday 4:08 pm as I write this) We stopped here based off the Yelp reviews. Wish I hadn't. I'll admit.. They are popping and hopping, but they also seem in over their heads with placement of tables and taking care of them all. Running in and out of the patio area. They have heart.. I can tell they want this place to be somewhere people enjoy themselves, but it falls flat in execution. I ordered pretty simple items.. And wasn't a great impression. Chips/salsa/queso. The chips were greasy, and mostly broken under the top layer. Makes it hard to share. Queso was stone cold. Sent it back-- and will admit it was better the second go round. Salsa was yummy, but it spilled on all the chips to make them a soggy, broke down mess. Now mind you-- when I ordered the chips, I also ordered a ceasar salad. It's lettuce, cheese and croutons. I got this 40 mins after my chips. I wasn't even hungry anymore-- so complete waste. Not to mention the entire time I had any food in front of me-- no napkins or silverware. I had my salad in front of me for 10 mins with no way to eat it. I never leave one star reviews, but this place wasted my time, and my money. Finally after I ran a trail race in Bastrop State Park, I finally decide to stop here and parked my pickup truck in their dirt lot. The interior is similar to a shack. There's nothing fancy at all which is fine by me. I know they are known for their burgers. I couldn't decide which kind of burger to get. I decided to get a cheeseburger which is boring ol' me. A few days ago my mom told me we would be meeting some other family members in Bastrop for dinner. She gave me the choice of where to go. Why not try the 38th best burger in Texas? I've had Counter Cafe and Alamo Springs; with the anticipation of having a cream cheese jalapeno burger we drove towards the Roadhouse. The burger itself seems like a novelty somewhere in between fried oreos and Franklin's BBQ espresso sauce concoction. Thankfully it turned out better than the last two. We got there just before the crowd spilled outside onto the nice size patio. The beers were cold and the service friendly. We started off with Roadhouse's version of layered dip. Great flavors from the black bean, queso, and pico. The majority of the table ordered burgers. My uncle and I with the Texas Monthly #38, bacon cheeseburger for mom, hamburger for dad, veggie sandwich for the wife, and the "Jack" for my aunt. Not a complaint could be found among the group. The fresh jalapenos with the cream cheese was really good; like forehead sweating good. Jenny noticed that Roadhouse actually tries in the vegetarian category trying to please all guests with some decent options. I have to point out the buns used here and darn near every place in Austin are from Houston's own Sheila P's bakery. The cheddar jalapeno is the best bun on the planet.
