Came for dinner and it was just ok. There were lots of flies inside and dead ones in the window. Not what you want to look at while eating. The burger for some reason tasted like it was a frozen patty and was thin. My son enjoyed his kids burger so that's a plus! We also got the bacon wrapped jalapenos. Some had bacon around them and others had bacon beside them. They were actually pretty good and large jalapenos. Our server was very nice and attentive. If we happen to be in the area we may be back.

I had the chili cheeseburger on the sweet sourdough bun, and it did not disappoint! Tasted like my daddy had grilled it on the grill on the back porch and brought it in for me fresh to eat. Sweet potato fries were crispy and hot, and we got a piece of carrot cake to go. Carrot cake was not the three layer that you may be used to, it's a flat carrot cake made in a sheet pan, but it was still good! We also got the avocado BLT. Also delicious and recommended. Fresh lemonade, not too sweet, just right. Don't let this pass you by! Next time I'm going to try the jalapeño cream cheeseburger, it's number 38 on Texas's Top 50 best burgers. Also, service was great and the ambience was like a small Texas town, friendly, and makes you wanna come back make sure you wanna come back.

Sunday road trip from Houston to Roadhouse for my favorite black bean burger, worth the drive! Great service!

Hadn't been to Roadhouse in a while and decided to stop by on a Sunday for lunch. Got there around 11:30, before it got too busy luckily. Since they have expanded and use the space next door there is now much more inside seating. Burgers are still 10/10- always flavorful, juicy and cooked just right. The sourdough bun is what makes it I always get the sweet potato fries because they are crispy and perfectly salted and worth the extra $1.50 upcharge. Staff are friendly and service was quick, especially for the day/hour. I'll be adding Roadhouse back into my Bastrop restaurant rotations.

There's a lot of buzz about this spot--and after finally checking it out, I can confidently say the hype is real. The menu is packed with incredible options, from comfort food favorites to creative dishes you don't always see in a small-town restaurant. The service was just as impressive--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. If you're passing through Bastrop, this place is definitely worth the stop.

The good and the not so great. Burgers are an A+ every time. Nice grilled flavor and usually perfectly cooked. The service is super friendly but anything but quick. I have been here twice and waited over an hour for food both times. If you are not in a hurry and want a "leisurely" lunch then this is your spot. It is rustic and quirky and I love that. Very much a Texas vibe. This would be a four 1/2 star for me if the food came out in a more timely manner.

Roadhouse was suggested as a lunch option while out and around. Roadhouse was voted as having one of the best burgers in Texas. I decided to go basic and get their bacon cheeseburger. The burger was good-the fries were crispy well done. I went back for lunch with a former co-worker and decided to get the the best burger: their jalapeno cream cheese burger. I chose to get the grilled jalapenos and it was a good mix with the slab of cream cheese and a giant pile of fries. Both times, the burger patty was large, well-seasoned and tasty. I could see why it was voted one of the best burgers. Every visit, service has been friendly and quick. My second visit I got a lot of refills. A LOT. Each time my server asked if I wanted a refill and at the end when I tabulated how many glasses of Coke I had (6) passed 0 judgement and even gave me a to-go cup. This is the other go-to whenever I come to Bastrop, the first being Buc-ee's of course.

A great Texas burger. Wonderful service! The western burger with fresh jalapeños is perfection (no pickles). (Tastes like the goodnight good cause at Hopdoddy) Sweet potato fries nice and crispy. Definitely worth the wait and extra time on the way back to Houston. A must road stop .

I ordered a sandwich and the bread was fresh and not too thick. The vegetables were crisp. I also ordered nachos, which I could not stop raving about! The beans were tender, the cheese was oozing and the chips were crunchy.

First of all, it's very kid-friendly! Almost every family that walked in had small children. They have high chairs, crayons/coloring pages, and a kids menu. The kids menu deserves a kudos! Usually, I expect bare minimum but they really invested effort into the food. The grilled cheese came on big fluffy buttery pieces of bread and was something I'd expect to receive from the main menu. The chicken tenders were big and juicy and delicious too. Kids devoured their grilled cheeses (to be fair, they've never met a grilled cheese they didn't like but that's what makes the restaurant's above-and-beyond effort more admirable). I enjoyed my food as well. I got the chicken-friend steak. I rarely eat fried food -- this was worth it. Delicious. Also the show-stealer was the Brussels sprouts side! Fantastic. Perfectly browned and crisped (not overdone/too blackened like many places do). Mashed potato side was tasty too. Finally, the service was excellent. Super nice and attentive staff. Parking is very easy -- free lot next door.

Everyone in our party could not get enough of them. I will be back to try the wings, they looked delish. Misty was our server and I am still in awe over her. She went out of her way to make sure everyone in our (very large) party was taken care of. There were dozens of us and I'm not even sure how she managed to do it but I realized afterwards, I never waited long for anything. Misty was always nearby and so kind and attentive. Im not sure how she took care of so many people at once, it was amazing, honestly. Ive never seen such efficiency and I don't know how she did it. There are restaurants you try once because they're trendy... and then there are places like Paw-Paw's -- the kind that become part of your family's story over time. From the fried deviled eggs, to the seafood platters, to the chicken tenders, to the genuinely wonderful staff, there just isn't a better spot for this kind of old-school comfort food experience. And the staff? Always SO friendly and welcoming. Every single time we come in, it feels less like "customer service" and more like old friends excited you finally stopped by so they can catch up with you awhile. That kind of warmth cannot be faked, and it makes such a difference. Now let's discuss these fried deviled eggs. Because respectfully... who allowed them to be this good? You think deviled eggs have reached their final form and then Paw-Paw's comes in like, "Hold my beer." Crispy, crunchy, creamy, flavorful perfection. We start most meals with them because not ordering them would simply be poor decision making at this point. I usually get the chicken tender basket and LISTEN -- these aren't sad little freezer tenders pretending to be a meal. These tenders are literally as big as my hand. Juicy, tender, flavorful, cooked perfectly every time. My adult kids are obsessed with the seafood platter: three pieces of fried catfish and three jumbo fried shrimp with fries, pinto beans, slaw, hushpuppies, and homemade tartar or cocktail sauce. And when I say the catfish tastes CLEAN, my fellow seafood people will understand exactly what I mean. No muddy taste, no weirdness -- just fresh, crispy, perfectly fried fish done right. And the portions? Paw-Paw did NOT come to play. Nobody is leaving hungry unless that was a personal choice. What I love most, though, is the feeling of the place. The small-town care. The heart that clearly goes into the food. The old-school comfort vibe that feels increasingly rare these days. Places like this matter. And Paw-Paw's is absolutely one of them.

While the restaurant presents itself as charming at first glance, the illusion quickly fades upon closer inspection. The facilities are notably dated, with restrooms that feel neglected rather than merely "vintage." Unfortunately, the food follows suit. The chicken arrived undercooked to the point of being unacceptable, the salads were devoid of flavor, and the mashed potatoes--if one dares to try them--proved equally disappointing. I found myself seated at the counter, making pleasant conversation with a delightful young waitress, which, regrettably, became the highlight of the entire experience. Any lingering amusement, however, was quickly diminished by a particularly persistent fly that seemed intent on joining me for dinner. In short, an establishment that relies far too heavily on appearance and reputation, while neglecting the fundamentals that truly matter.
