Stopped by Roadies for a couple drinks and a appetizer after proposing at Bushkill falls (air bnb was close by). Online the view looked amazing but did not realize you could smoke outside. So we sat at the bar. ONLY two at the bar. We got a total of 2 beers, a sprite, seltzer and wings. Bartender was very unhappy about having customers. Seemed real Annoyed we were even there. Food wasn't bad and you can't really screw up beer, soda and seltzer. But then came the check. Just a reminder we were the only ones at the bar, also proposing to the person you love isn't cheap. Somehow the bartender, showed us the correct check, I gave the card. He then proceeds to charge my card on a different check. Then doesn't realize till after and then explains he has to charge us both and Void the other one. It Was quite sad that he couldn't close out the correct check when we were the only ones at the bar. Then asks did it credit your account yet. No it didn't I have to wait for it to process. Not only did we not want to sit outside, we were not treated nicely and charged two bills. read more

Food was good overall. The spinach artichoke dip was a little bland and not as hot as it could be. The chips served with it were great but you do get way more chips then you need for a relatively small dip. Sirloin steaks with sauce were tasty and well cooked. Onion rings were good. On a clear day the view of the mountains from this restaurant is beautiful. This is an open modern restaurant filled with music posters who have performed at the theater. If the weather is nice they have a huge outdoor patio . We had the Peak Pot Roast which was tasty and tender. The brown gravy was rich and had a nice flavor. The mash potatoes slaw were good. Pretty good food. Freind and I hiked 6.5 miles and then came here. He got a burger and I got soup and a wrap. The soup was chicken noodle. They make it a little spicy which was good. I got a turkey club wrap with French fries. That was pretty good. He said his burger was ok. Looks like it's a pretty cool venue too. Neat deck but it was too foggy to see the view. I loved this restaurant. It was a pleasant surprise as I didn't think the venue attached was going to have more than bar food, but thank goodness for this place. I cannot emphasize enough how friendly the staff are here. Our server was all smiles & even joked around with us, super nice young lady(Miranda I think) Our food was very tasty, app was boneless wings in garlic parm sauce, very good. Who had chicken kebobs on a menu, anywhere? So impressive! They were cooked perfectly over a bed of white rice&vegy, both my husband & I got this dish & though it was great. Located at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe, Roadies Restaurant and Bar sits in a prime location with two huge outdoor decks promising sensational views , where my partner, his aunt and I came for a late lunch. On a clear day, in fact, one can often see up to 50 miles away. Upon arrival, one has to go up a couple of flights of stairs to get to the restaurant. We requested a table outdoors to enjoy the sunshine, the breeze, and the panoramic view with a wait of 20 minutes. The 50's interior themed decor perfectly complimented the dishes on the menu featuring the classic American bar food variety fare. We decided on the Pub Style Pretzels, French Onion Soup, Shroom Burger, and side of fries. The food was prepared to perfection and was okay. Disappointing wait time. Even more disappointing food. Table of 8. We waited 25 minutes for a table, which was a shorter wait than expected, but after being seated, we had to wait another 50 mins for the food to come out. I don't mind waiting for food that's worth waiting for, but this food was not it. Honestly, everything tasted like frozen food. None of the food we got came out hot. I got the loaded pierogies, which was severely underwhelming. I'm not sure what the reviews praising the pierogies were about. I also didn't enjoy the grilled portobello sandwich, as I felt the sandwich as a whole was off. All the ingredients seemed out of place, esp the fried goat cheese, which overwhelmed the burger. The waiter (Brendan) was very nice though and kept checking up on us with drinks and updating us on our order. He also fixed an overcharge mistake on my receipt. read more

July 31, 2023 - Monday Review # 441 - While Vacationing 5 days in four cities of Pennsylvania. My vacation visiting my three cousins and Aunt started on Thursday June 1 and ended on Sunday June 4th here for an early dinner at 3pm. It was a "Road Trip" about 45 minutes from Mountain Top but well worth the hungry drive for a late lunch and early dinner since my hotel breakfast was small and light. All my photos attached show the style and uniqueness of this spacious restaurant in great details! Starting with the hostess at the door, then our server Kate and the finale was The Chef who actually came out of the kitchen to say Hi and how was your meals was very friendly, attentive and super surprise while we were all eating our hot meals. Everyone's order came out one after the other and were prepared and plated with delicious and tasteful flavors! No one had any complaints and my burger was FANTASTIC with every bite, Especially their seasoned fries. Cheers to PA Beer as well to wash the burger down. Dessert? Unfortunately we were all FULL so no desserts were enjoyed for anyone. Next time we will!!! We had a great experience here for lunch! Our group of 7 was seated promptly by a team of very friendly hostesses. I cannot stress enough how warm and friendly every single employee was here. Our waitress was patient, kind, and attentive. The decor of this venue is great. Music themed (obviously) with plenty of music posters and memorabilia to look at. The music playing in and restaurant was a great mix of 60's, 70's and 80's rock. The appetizers we ordered were fantastic. The hummus with pita was flavorful and the soft pretzel sticks were warm and delicious. For my meal, I had the boneless wings. I had the sweet chili flavor and the sauce was great! My only complaint was that the wings felt slightly overdone. They were a bit too crispy for me. We will absolutely be returning here soon! I had the O'shroom Burger (Brioche Bun loaded with sautéed mushrooms and onions, topped with garlic aioli) with sweet potato waffle fries. The old white woman tending the bar was extremely rude. She said she wouldn't give us dinner menus unless we ordered drinks. Dont waste your time, go to Dom n Ali and have the best pasta of your life, we would've liked to enjoyed some live music but this old woman scared us off and there wasn't even any live music. read more

We were looking for a place to have some food after being on the road for a while. Stumbled on this place with two huge outdoor decks that had a beautiful view. We had our dog with us, and since we didn't want to leave him in the hot car while we ate, we thought we could just sit on one of the decks instead of the inside restaurant. We called ahead of time and asked in person, but the restaurant attached to Penn's Peak, Roadies, in not pet friendly. Their reasoning was that there were other guests on the patio and they didn't want our (medium sized and calm) dog to scare them. That didn't sit right with us, but it is their restaurant and we wanted to respect their decision, so we ordered our food and sat at a gazebo to eat. We were enjoying the views and eating with our pup. But then! We saw a younger couple with a baby and a DOG go and eat on the patio! Why were they allowed to eat on the deck but we couldn't? Was it because we weren't regulars or something? Very confusing and upsetting. The food was okay, for being in takeout boxes and eating with plastic utensils. We ordered the following: PORK TOTCHOS Crispy tater tots, slow roasted pulled pork, smoked bacon, cheddar, pepperjack cheese, scallions, hickory BBQ drizzle. $14 LOADED PIEROGIES Sautéed pierogies, stuffed with potatoes and cheese, topped with bacon, caramelized onions, smoked gouda cheese sauce. Served with a side of sour cream. $10 BBQ PORK Brioche roll, house braised pork, hickory bbq sauce, coleslaw, red onions. (with sweet potato waffle fry upgrade) $16 GRILLED PORTOBELLO Brioche roll, grilled portobello, fried goat cheese, spring mix, pesto, tomatoes, red onion, balsamic aioli. (with onion rings upcharge) $15 The tater tots were a bit soggy and the sweet potato fries tasted stale. Would recommend the pierogies though, very good. Okay first let me say... I only have myself to blame. I am a yelp reviewer, and I did check the reviews, and they were 'less than stellar' but... I've eaten here one other time and it was okay. Nothing at all like tonight. From putting your name in and having no place to manage the wait, standing along the walls of a hallway where servers walk through carrying food past a ton of faces, to finally learning we can sit in the bar area, to just complete disappoint with my food, I don't see myself returning. Six of us had planned to have an early dinner at Roadies before the show this past Saturday. We arrived at 4:30 and had no problem getting a table. We ordered one appetizer and 6 sandwiches at about 5:45. We left without eating when our food had not arrived by 7:30! Our server said she was not allowed into the kitchen to check on our food but got a manager who told us we were waiting because they liked our group so much they didn't want us to leave and assured us the food would be out in 5 min. It wasn't. The show started at 8 so we couldn't wait any longer. The manager said the food would be sent down to the concession area downstairs ( that didn't happen either) The server felt awful and we made sure to give her a good tip because of how long we tied up her table but would not plan on eating there again. The servers are always so friendly, and there are a few items on the menu that are particularly good (why do I love their pot roast so much??) Beer options aren't vast, but there are always staples that anyone could choose from. If the crowd around you is right it can be a really chill experience to enjoy the view - there's no other place like it in the area! read more

However, 2 delicious white sangria later - I don't. The menu is the typical restaurant fair ... but executed well. We had grilled chicken sandwiches with their new hand cut fresh fries ... both were good. Roasted Fingerling potatoes with cheese bacon & scallions- they were nice. The horseradish sauce is really good though ... out server saw dipping catsup and offered the sauce for us to try. The price was also very fair ... the view and deck were clean and really enjoyable. Not impressed with the food. I could go into detail about everything that was put on the table but I will refrain for the sake of not printing a book. The steak and cheese bread was soaking wet with disgusting grease and the ancho chicken platter was just foul. We were not expecting much more than decent bar food here but we did not even get that. The venue is beautiful but the food is so bad, I would never go back unless a new chef and menu was announced. It is sad that such a nice place has such terrible food. Our server was very nice and she appeared to be used to guests not liking the food. I feel bad for the staff there. We ate at Roadies for the convenience as we were attending a concert at Penn's Peak. We were served beverages at the bar quickly while we waited for our table. We were seated at a table quickly and the waitress was personable. Our food was delivered quickly. Too quickly in fact for bone-in chicken wings and a burger to have been cooked to order. The burger was cold and the cheese wasn't melted. The wings were cold on one end and colder on the other end. I sent the wings back to the kitchen and in less than 8 minutes I was served more cold wings. I can't say for certain, but the wings seemed to be heat and serve food service wings. The honey mustard wing sauce (Gold ?) was good but the garlic Parmesan sauce made the wings too oily to eat. The onion rings were hot and tasty, but I don't think they were made in house as the menu suggested. The restaurant was clean, well appointed, and seemed to be well staffed. The restroom was clean. $52 for 10 wings, basket of onion rings, cheeseburger, fries, one glass of wine and one mixed drink plus a 20% tip. I would not eat at Roadies again. read more

This is a dive bar on the hill with a nice location and great views. We stopped there after a mountain hike and each had a basic meal you can get in every pizza shop. Some burgers, wraps and soup paired with a decent beer selection. Service was friendly but very slow and it took forever to bring the food too. Almost posted this on Penn's peak yelp page as I didn't realize that they're technically two separate businesses. This review is about the restaurant, not the venue. My dad took me here awhile ago because he had come with his bike friends and enjoyed it. I wasn't impressed. The restaurant is in a huge building though and being as it's atop a mountain it does have some really great views, I will give it that. I didn't think the food was good though, like at all. I got the Mac and cheese and it looked really good but it wasn't. I think it may have been a special because I can't find it on the menu. It was a small size but really rich and creamy but not in a good way. It was crab Mac and cheese and it just tasted funky. Fish and Mac and cheese just shouldn't go together I've never been satisfied while ordering it. They do give you chips at your table which were good. Overall I really don't think this is a restaurant you ever need to eat at. Not awful just not ... good. read more

My friends and I came here a few weeks ago during a bachelorette weekend, mainly for the view. We sat outside on the deck, which is great. They give you some potato chips for free, and they were pretty tasty. We also ordered chicken wings and onion rings as appetizers, which we all liked. For my dinner, I ordered a cup of chili and the chicken quesadilla. The other girls ordered various sandwiches and burgers, and were excited about the pretzel buns. The main entrees were nothing special. The chili did not taste like a typical chili, but it wasn't that bad. However, the quesadilla had no flavor. The other girls in the group weren't thrilled with their food as well, and all of us asked for extra mustard/ketchup/salsa/etc. to make our food taste better. The good thing is that the prices were very reasonable. I think the check, with tip, was around $85 for five people. It's not somewhere I would go again, unfortunately. read more

This place is huge, and I couldn't quite figure it out. There's definitely a restaurant component, but it's also- what? A venue, concert hall type thing? There's a lot going on, in a good way. I came late afternoon with a large group, and they were able to accommodate us easily, which was nice. We ended up sitting at the bar. The big disappointment was that you weren't allowed outside on the balcony/deck area, and I was hoping to get some pictures because the view from the parking lot was pretty awesome and I can only imagine it would have been even better from up there. Oh well, hopefully when the weather is nicer they'll open it up. Our server/bartender was very friendly and attentive, chatting with us about where we were from and how we were spending our weekend. She even took a group photo for us. She gave good advice about the foot, and I ended up ordering a hamburger with mushrooms on it. It was cooked perfectly and it was delicious. My husband and I have seen the commercials on TV about Roades Restaurant in Penns Peak, saying we have to go there. We decided to go last Saturday April 29th I believe. We were very impressed with the beautiful Restaurant and atmosphere. Our waitress wa named Sage and she was so pleasant, always was there asking g repeatedly if everything was OK and could she get us everything. Had the pot roast which was absolutely perfect. It was delicious. My husband got the Code with coconut shrimp. That was out of this world also. We are going back this Friday and we can't wait. You have to try this Restaurant. Horrible service. Party of 7 and we were seated at a table for 12. Lots of chairs in between and made it difficult to have a conversation. Waitress forgot who ordered which food, forgot the extra sauce or extra gravy someone ordered. Extra gravy came way after the meatloaf was gone. Extra dishes were not cleared from our table. In fact, the menus were not even taken away after they took our order. Had to ask them to in order to make room on the table. Food was average. 1 Star for food and service. The other star for the location. We wanted to order desserts since we were celebrating a birthday, but we had enough of the service. This restaurant's wait staff can not handle a big group. If this is where you want to take your party, prepare to be disappointed and frustrated. Almost forgot to mention that we had an 11 year old with us and they didn't offer a kid's menu.
