My wife and I went here on a Sunday afternoon. We were promptly seated inside. The music level was good enough to have a conversation. The building is an old firehouse and it's really cool. We sat inside but there a lot of seats outside too. The bar is very cool. Lots of different bourbons and whiskey. They also have a good choice of beer. I had a Vienna lager and a pilsner. Both very good and the right temperature. We started with the dill pickle bombs. Wow! I could have ate 200 of them. We shared the Wellington and the chicken Marsala sandwich. The Wellington was good but the chicken sandwich was great!! So much flavor. We had a warm brownie with ice cream for dessert. Our waitress Kayden was so nice and helpful. We stopped by for lunch after a morning bike ride and had a nice visit. There is a large patio with tables/umbrellas and the inside has low and high-top tables. A nice bar is also a seating option. Service was prompt and friendly. The rustic vibe of an old fire house is pretty cool. The drink menu has a nice selection of local PA craft beer and specialty cocktails. The food menu had a variety of offerings to choose from. We started off with the pickle balls, which were bits of pickle and cream cheese deep fried. The basket of fries with their house made smoked ketchup was good. Our group ordered sandwiches and were pleased. The Porchetta (pork, with cooper cheese) and the Rueben. Our French dip sandwich was really good, a recent fav compared to other French dips. It was a smaller size which was fine but just a not if you're planning to share it might not be enough. The outside area was super cute and would definitely recommend if it's nice out. It is a little dark on the inside so might not recommend that as much during the daytime. Came here after a long day of walking around the small town of Jim Thorpe and riding the train through the Poconos. It was packed when I arrived, so I expected a wait, but it ended up being a bit longer than I hoped. They seemed a little understaffed for the season, though the staff that were there were super friendly and doing their best to keep things moving. Outdoor seating was really nice. Breezy, shaded, and a good spot to rest your feet after being out all day. Indoors is small but cozy in that old-town way. A lot of people stop here because there's a restroom, so there's constant movement, but even with all the traffic the place stayed clean and the staff stayed kind. The food was solid. I ordered the stew and it was exactly the kind of hearty dish I wanted. Rich gravy, tender meat, and it was served over mashed potatoes that soaked everything up in the best way. Comfort food without being heavy in a bad way. Portions were medium but fair for the price. It did take a long time to get my box and check at the end, but considering how busy they were it made sense. Overall, it's a nice spot in a charming little town and a good place to take a break while exploring all the autumn-vibe streets around it. read more

Restaurant Review The food was good, but unfortunately the service was some of the worst I've experienced. Our appetizers came out before our drinks, and after placing our appetizer and drink order, the server never came back to check on us. We were never asked if everything was okay, offered refills, or even asked for our entrée choices. The food also took an extremely long time to arrive. It's disappointing because the food itself was good, but the service really took away from the experience. Came here on a Friday at 645 pm or so Got the last table. Was very happy. Service was really good. Once we asked for more water waitress continued to check on water refills. Appreciated! We got the chicken salad sandwich, the Mac chunker, grilled cheese, and the Wellington sandwich. All were pretty good. I think the fries were amazing. Nothing crazy but decent bar pub food! My boyfriend and I have eaten there at least three times in the past 4 years, on our bi/ annual trips to Jim Thorpe. We tried a variety of food there, but I think my favorite was the Bavarian Beer Pretzel served with Berwick beer mustard and gouda cheese sauce ($10 appetizer). Also their fries may not be the best I've ever eaten, BUT their ketchup is one of the kind! I am Polish, so I pay extra attention to the condiments I am served/ eat my meal with. It tasted smoky and very tomato-e. I forgot which sandwiches we had, but they all tasted delicious. Well prepared with complementing flavors. The price ranges between $11-$17. The bar also has a decent selection of beer, according to my boyfriend. We sat inside in winter and outside when it was a bit warmer. The restaurant is inside a converted firehouse from 1885, and it definitely looks unique. It is not a big space, but feels very welcoming and comfortable. You could bring your pets when sitting outdoors. Heat lamps are available in colder weathers. Although we do give a try to other restaurants in the town, this is hands down our favorite. read more

We went because we had experienced a ghostly sighting 12 yrs ago before it was a restaurant and wanted to revisit it. The food was ok. I was a bit disappointed with the wings as I asked for them extra crispy and they weren't. The mango spiked iced tea was very good. Hubbys sandwich was not bad. Took a long time to be asked if we wanted anything to drink but the staff was super great and friendly from the get go. Very cute place that holds great memories. While visiting Jim Thorpe, be sure to visit Marion Hose Bar for lunch or dinner. The service and food were excellent. You will find there is more available outdoor seating. Inside there are approximately six tables. My family and I ate inside with plenty of space. There is a nice bar area for you to sit and enjoy. There are fall themed cocktails and a variety of Big Ben sodas for you to order. There are plenty of bar food options. Some big hits were the French onion soup and pretzels. My family members who ordered the French onion soup said it was the best they ever had! Most of us ordered chicken sandwiches or burgers. My veggie burger was delicious. Service here was amazing. The host and server were chipper and quick. The food, however, was not. Their menu online is not current. We used to drive 3 hours for the afterschool special, tomato bisque, and Irish stew. We made our bi-annual trip just for this meal not realizing that they had been completely removed from the menu. This place is always packed for a reason. Burgers are unique and their ketchup is addicting. It's an old converted fire house so it's tiny inside, but cozy when (or rather if) you get in. Thankfully there's a big patio for use during nicer weather. They're a little pricey, but that's every place in downtown Jim Thorpe. read more

We had these cheesesteak egg rolls that were excellent! We also had the " after school special " and the " chunker " and was delicious! They had a big beer selection but didn't really have any good selections to choose from. They need to have higher ratings beers " untapped " we really loved the atmosphere here. Ordered a burger medium rare, came out well done on a croissant bun. No where on the menu talks about a croissant bun. I'm cool with it, if my burger wasn't well done and completely void of moisture to the point where it was physically hard to swallow a bite. Sent it back, probably wouldn't ever come back given the 20 min wait just to have that experience. Lemonade and service was hittin tho for what it's worth. While the food here was ok and the interior had some charm.... The service was pretty terrible. It is a busy spot but they seemed to have plenty of staff. We just could not get a waitress to visit us without a lot of effort. I even went up to the bar to ask for some extra napkins because we were desperate. Getting another soda, water, ketchup.... It just seemed impossible to get a server. The pig Lebowski sandwich was tasty tho I could have passed on the perogies-- didn't realize they were in the sandwich-- they just made it dry. We also liked the wings. The dumplings in onion soup was pretty gross to me. The nachos were also not great....a pretty small serving and it seemed like American cheese sauce was on them. They also seemed to serve the burgers and fries with some sort of Smokey bbq sauce instead of ketchup which we didn't care for. Thankfully we were able to get regular ketchup. The place is just really crowded (thankfully we didn't wait more than 5 mins) so we felt totally squeezed in and the service was poor. So I wouldn't be inclined to go back. read more

This small cozy restaurant has about 10-12 stools at the bar, about that many tables inside and the same number of tables outside. Food and prices are ok. (Love their Old Fashioned Friday special!) It's one of the better pubs in Jim Thorpe and right next door to the opera house. We always hit the place before a show. That said, you can expect it to be quite busy on event nights. read more
