    French dip sandwich with fries
    Lena O.

Our French dip sandwich was really good, a recent fav compared to other French dips. It was a smaller size which was fine but just a not if you're planning to share it might not be enough. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outside area was super cute and would definitely recommend if it's nice out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a little dark on the inside so might not recommend that as much during the daytime.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was great and we were in and out in less than a half hour although we only got one meal. Would recommend if you're in the area! Our friends also enjoyed their food and drinks.

Every time we are in Jim Thorpe we stop by. The staff are so kind and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We appreciate the relaxed vibe of the bar[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the delish food.

Came here after a long day of walking around the small town of Jim Thorpe and riding the train through the Poconos. It was packed when I arrived, so I expected a wait, but it ended up being a bit longer than I hoped. They seemed a little understaffed for the season, though the staff that were there were super friendly and doing their best to keep things moving. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Outdoor seating was really nice. Breezy, shaded, and a good spot to rest your feet after being out all day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoors is small but cozy in that old-town way.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]A lot of people stop here because there's a restroom, so there's constant movement, but even with all the traffic the place stayed clean and the staff stayed kind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was solid. I ordered the stew and it was exactly the kind of hearty dish I wanted. Rich gravy, tender meat, and it was served over mashed potatoes that soaked everything up in the best way. Comfort food without being heavy in a bad way. Portions were medium but fair for the price. It did take a long time to get my box and check at the end, but considering how busy they were it made sense. Overall, it's a nice spot in a charming little town and a good place to take a break while exploring all the autumn-vibe streets around it.

This is the second time I've been here and it was a way better experience then last time! The waitress was so kind and quick to serve us! She made sure my food was fully gluten free and we had a great time here! My gluten free burger was amazing and I will definitely be back for a second!

Came here on a Friday at 645 pm or so Got the last table. Was very happy. Service was really good. Once we asked for more water waitress continued to check on water refills. Appreciated! We got the chicken salad sandwich, the Mac chunker, grilled cheese, and the Wellington sandwich. All were pretty good. I think the fries were amazing. Nothing crazy but decent bar pub food! I loved the Mac and cheese on my mac chunker - would totally be interested in getting a fulls size serving of their Mac and cheese it was really creamy and flavorful.

My boyfriend and I have eaten there at least three times in the past 4 years, on our bi/ annual trips to Jim Thorpe. We tried a variety of food there, but I think my favorite was the Bavarian Beer Pretzel served with Berwick beer mustard and gouda cheese sauce ($10 appetizer). Also their fries may not be the best I've ever eaten, BUT their ketchup is one of the kind! I am Polish, so I pay extra attention to the condiments I am served/ eat my meal with. It tasted smoky and very tomato-e. I forgot which sandwiches we had, but they all tasted delicious. Well prepared with complementing flavors. The price ranges between $11-$17. The bar also has a decent selection of beer, according to my boyfriend. We sat inside in winter and outside when it was a bit warmer. The restaurant is inside a converted firehouse from 1885, and it definitely looks unique. It is not a big space, but feels very welcoming and comfortable. You could bring your pets when sitting outdoors. Heat lamps are available in colder weathers. Although we do give a try to other restaurants in the town, this is hands down our favorite.

We went because we had experienced a ghostly sighting 12 yrs ago before it was a restaurant and wanted to revisit it. The food was ok. I was a bit disappointed with the wings as I asked for them extra crispy and they weren't. The mango spiked iced tea was very good. Hubbys sandwich was not bad. Took a long time to be asked if we wanted anything to drink but the staff was super great and friendly from the get go. Very cute place that holds great memories. Because it was our anniversary they also gave us a free brownie with ice cream. The brownie was REALLY good!! Super fresh and very warm. Hope they enjoyed our ghost pics!!!

The staff highlighted an excellent visit to Jim Thorpe. Sage was so friendly and quick with everything giving great recommendations around town. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside on the spacious patio with plenty of shade.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We shared a few appetizers and would recommend the cheese steak egg rolls! My main dish was the Wellington and while it was tasty, I would try a different dish next time

Drinks and service were 5 stars. Food sucked. Chili nachos although loaded were too sweet for my taste, loaded with bbq sauce. Why? Don't know. Also store bought, bagged chips. Too much trouble to make your own. And the Philly cheesesteak eggrolls had almost no filling and came with tomato sauce for some odd reason. Maybe a queso or chipotle mayo would've made more sense. Then they started asking if we wanted anything else which is aka saying it's time to go when we failed to order more drinks or food.

While visiting Jim Thorpe, be sure to visit Marion Hose Bar for lunch or dinner. The service and food were excellent. You will find there is more available outdoor seating. Inside there are approximately six tables. My family and I ate inside with plenty of space. There is a nice bar area for you to sit and enjoy. There are fall themed cocktails and a variety of Big Ben sodas for you to order. There are plenty of bar food options. Some big hits were the French onion soup and pretzels. My family members who ordered the French onion soup said it was the best they ever had! Most of us ordered chicken sandwiches or burgers. My veggie burger was delicious. The special pasta of the day was the penne vodka, which had a great taste. I plan on returning the next time I visit Jim Thorpe. Thanks for the great meal and service!

Wow! My favorite in Jim Thorpe. We waited in line before it even opened. They had a line for the whole time we were there. They did a great job seating people and making sure the orders were taken and food came out promptly! We had the fries and then the beef stew over mashed potatoes Hot, fresh and delicious! Eat in or outside just a great place!

The service was awesome and super fast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place was pretty crowded and we were sat at the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This was the first restaurant that we went to for our weekend in Jim Thorpe. Everyone working was very friendly and seems to be having fun while doing a great job. We got the Spinach dip and the fish and chips. Both were very good the fish was super crispy and fries were hot and good as well. Spinach dip we didn't finish because it was a little heavy and very cheesy but it went well with the pita chips served with it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cool vibe in the bar and the music was great as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got a margarita and my girlfriend got a Moscow mule and we both loved them. If we are in Jim Thorpe again we will definitely be back.

Three of us ordered Thai chicken and my wife ordered the Bangkok bowl. The ingredients were fresh and carefully selected, as the dish had a slightly sweet curry sauce on it. The chicken thigh was on top of a bed of short grain brown rice appropietly cooked for the dish. Veggies such as broccoli and eggplant were around the edges. The Bangkok bowl was slightly different as the samosas had a fair amount of heat to them. The waiter recommended mixing them with the rice and fried chickpeas, which worked well. For dessert, the rose and cardamom coffee glee had little rose flavor. I asked and they said it was infused as well as the garnish on top, but I failed to taste it. Ditto for the chocolate orange ganache, in which I could not taste the orange flavor. No points lost, the deserts were still better than average, not too sweet. Service was very good, the waiter loved to inform us of what to expect. Also, it was a good place for four of us to sit at a table and enjoy a conversation.

The only downside is the wait times, very long to get sat, even for folks who did have reservations, and then a very long wait for the food, for getting the bill, etc. likely just a bit understaffed but something to be mindful of if you're in a rush. It was a bit pricier than I would have expected but not horrible. Overall a very nice spot for a date night.

We got the sangria sour beer and the white ale which were perfect for us. We also saw online that everyone loved the smash burger so we had to try it. We added truffle fries for 3 dollars which was so worth it. Some of the best fries we have ever had. Also I think we decided it was the best smash burger we have ever had. We both have never tried bacon jam and we were a bit hesitant about the pimento cheese as well. I think my favorite moment from this trip was sitting at the bar here and eating this meal. I ordered shrimp and scallop hibachi and it was incredibly oily and greasy, and the portion of shrimp and scallops was tiny. My friend also got hibachi and felt the same way. My salad was watery, and the clear mushroom soup tasted very strange. I couldn't take more than a bite of either the soup or the salad. For my entree, asked the server if I could please have extra vegetables instead of noodles, and she said that there was a "language barrier" in the kitchen, so she didn't want to ask that. I thought that was an odd comment for her to make. My daughter ordered some sushi rolls and liked them, and my husband and our friend also liked their sushi; so maybe sushi is a better choice here. The place is small and to echo other reviewers, tables are very crammed together and you will bump in to other people just by moving around. The place is cool looking on the inside and outside, definitely an interesting vibe, and they have a full bar. We did have to ask multiple times about the status of our beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). My drink was not good, it was a sake/lemon drop hybrid type of thing and it was insanely sweet - I couldn't finish it.

Unfortunately, there was a strong cold draft at floor level, leaving our feet uncomfortably cold throughout the meal. The hostess was sweet and greeted us with a smile. The food service was unremarkable. Our waiter was not particularly friendly nor personable. The drinks were a weak start. The red sangria was poor. The bourbon cocktail was an odd mix of bourbon, apple cider, and other elements--an awkward, Frankenstein-style whiskey sour that simply didn't work. Worst of all, both drinks were served in thin plastic cups, which immediately cheapened the entire experience. I ordered the falafel sandwich and specifically requested a toasted bun. It arrived not just room temperature, but cold. I sent it back, and it returned burning hot... the bottom soggy... literally too hot to pick up... with no browning or color change, clearly microwaved. Microwaving is not toasting. At that point, the sandwich was inedible. I removed the bun entirely and ate just the falafel, which was dry and largely tasteless. At this point I knew coming back to this restaurant was a mistake. Food timing was another issue. The dishes took roughly 45 minutes to arrive after the drinks, possibly longer. We were all getting annoyed and what started out well when we first walked in turned negative. I wasn't impressed on my first visit years ago... and this second visit confirmed it. Between the poor drinks, cheap plastic cups, ridiculously long wait (with no explanation nor apology), and careless food execution, there's no reason to return.
