I really enjoyed this place when they first opened. Great to have "healthier" choices in the neighborhood, but they could do better. I was going to order the special, veggie burger with fries. However due to food sensitivities I asked if I could have sweet potato fries. They didn't have any sweet potato fries. Then I asked if I could have rice instead of fries cause I can't eat fries. They said they don't do any substitutions. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought when they first opened they've accommodated my food allergies before. Some suggestions from management is please add sweet potato fries and the right to substitute rice instead of fries if you can't eat it. Chicken not much taste and with many kind of small splinter bones which indicate the chicken was not carved properly. A great new place that opened up in Rego park. The place is chic and rustic. The menu is very health centric and vast. My friends and I have dined here multiple times and the consensus has been the same: fresh food and big portions!! Last time I was there, I had the salad integrale and added eggs and chicken. They prepared it fresh and it hit the spot after a good workout at nearby NYSC. My friend opted for the Cobb salad and sweet potatoes. I had the opportunity to sample the sweet potatoes and they were amazing, freshly baked and topped with cinnamon. Before we left , we had to get some cookies because they looked great on the display stand. The manager, Manny, is a cool guy and even gave us extra cookie. I told him to keep the change and as I was walking down queens Blvd. , he chased me down and gave me the rest of the change, implying that he was happy to have us customers. This place is a godsend to the neighborhood. Forest Hills especially the area by the 67th Ave Subway lacks quality cafes of this sort. This place uses high end ingredients (Balthazar bread that is out of this world and La Colombe Coffee comes to mind). Prices are very reasonable for the quality they provide. I'm glad to see that so many people have had good experiences here. Perhaps my three experiences were just a fluke. I was excited to see a new coffee shop in forest hills where you could actually sit, do some work, and get a bite to eat. Unfortunately I was very disappointed the three times I visited, and cannot stomach giving this place any more of my money. The first time I visited, I ordered a large iced coffee and was charged more than was posted on the signs. When I asked why, the woman behind the counter explained that they didn't have iced coffee, and made me a cold brew instead, which is more expensive. Ok, fine, but they should have explained that to me before charging me more for something I didn't order. I chalked this up to them working out the kinks, though, as the place was pretty new. I went back about a week later, and again ordered a large iced coffee. The woman behind the counter (a different person from the first time) handed me a super small cup, and I asked if it was a large. She said they were out of large cups and therefore gave me a small. I asked why I was still being charged for a large then (??????) and a man who seemed to be the chef came over, apologized, and rang me up for a small. I shouldn't have ever gone back after this, but I was really hoping they were just working out the kinks once again. Also, I was really hoping for a good coffee shop close to my apartment. SO for some reason I went back. This time I ordered a large iced coffee and a mushroom quiche. The woman behind the counter rang me up. Ten minutes later, she told me they were out of the mushroom quiche and asked if I would take the tomato and spinach instead. Not a huge tomato fan but I was starving so I said ok and asked how long it would be. She responded "he's just heating it up now". I get the quiche ten minutes later, walk the one block to my apartment, and it is COLD as hell. The people working at this coffee shop were beyond rude, but what motivated me to write this review- something I almost never do- was their dishonesty. The quiche was not great, even after I heated it up in the microwave (took 1 minute and 40 second- why was I standing there so long for cold quiche?!!!!). The coffee... Kind of sucks. I love their Cobb salad which is topped with their rotisserie chicken, which almost melts in your mouth. I also sometimes grab a cup of coffee or try some of their specialty coffees in the morning.
